View Full Version : Voice people wanted - modding Star Trek: Voyager

I've been watching Star Trek: Voyager (a spinoff of the original ST) recently. It's a cool concept, but fails in the execution. So... I'm seriously considering "modifying" it. Let me explain. I'll take existing video clips, add custom voices (supplied by you guys, and probably me), and then combine them to make a new show. Same basic premise (ship gets stuck halfway across galaxy and has to get home), some of the same specifics (like the Maquis being part of Voyager's crew), and still set in the Star Trek universe, but... Lots of differences, too. The main difference will be thematic. Voyager was almost entirely episodic and didn't do much with its premise. My idea is to make it have a lot more continuity and focus mostly on the social aspects of the show rather than LOL SPACE TIME GETS BORKED AGAIN, etc.
So. Any voice actors/actresses interested? If so, send me a sample of your voice. I also really wouldn't mind having someone who can do audio editing.

I will happily offer my services. I can do audio editing but would have very little time to do anything heavy due to my own projects, but if you need a voice, I'm glad to help.
To hear my voice, click here (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6469) I can do other voices as well, but would need to know what you had in mind.

I so would, but I'm not sure how to do all that recording and sending bits.

If you are windows, there is a program called Sound Record in your accessories folder. Make the file, save it, attach it to an email, send XD

I see. If it weren't so late, I'd send me a dramitic reading of the "Malibu's most Wanted" Script.
EDIT: I need a mic? It can't just magically record?

If you're on a laptop, it prolly has a mic built in.

@Naz, Various: May I hear some samples of your stuff? Naz, I'd especially like to hear some edited voices.
@BT: Get it working or I'll... I'll inflict biophysical torture on you. You don't even want to know what that is.

now are you going for a serious note or for a few lols with some of the voices?

Serious.
Except for Neelix. His voice is kind of weird and quirky in the original, and if you could do his voice, go ahead. You may want to look up some examples on YouTube if you haven't watched Voyager.

I'll try to make a few random samples. I remember him well. His voice varies a lot. First its harsh and then nasaly

I dunno what your voice is like...
Well, Voyager has three main female characters: Janeway (captain, very commanding), Torres (half-Klingon chief engineer), and Kes (REALLY innocent/naive nurse). Pick which one you think fits you best.

The jumpsuit? Personally I wish she'd have gotten rid of it. Not replaced it with anything.
Just gotten rid of it.
I'll start practicing Neelix when the house is empty XD

Seven doesn't come in for a long time, so I didn't include her.
Glad to see some interest. ;}

What other voices do you need?

...Like, any...
Send in a sample of a character you think you'd be good at. Or pick one at random if you can't decide.

I need to wait until the house is empty before I try out my Michael Dorn.
(Before you say it, I know he's in Next Generation)

I guess I'll try Janeway and Kes... I would not make a good Klingon, even half of one. My voice is too... Umm... human?
Ceres.

...
You know what I find hilarious? I just watched all seven seasons of Voyager. I miss that ship for some reason, even getting back into TNG is so hard D:
I might join in on this if only to curse at people in Klingon~
I'd prefer being borg, but since you aren't including seven :(
EDIT: my cat finally went to sleep so i could record. Don't ask me why I gave Janeway a bad fake English accent, I'll only say it was to distinguish it from the other two. it's hard going from one accent to another, I should have just looked for a monologue or something D:
anywho: http://ceresalpha1.tumblr.com/ I had an old tumblr blog and uploaded the file on there.

Ceres, you can be Janeway and/or Torres, leaving Aslee for Kes. The accent didn't sound dumb to my ears.

AAAAHHHHH!!!!!! I NEED to upload my voice. And I wanted Kes so bad anyway...

Shameless bump.
...I think we could do this with two more guys, assuming the girls are still in and that I can learn voice editing.
