Lord of the Rings (The one that rules them all)

Hello, my name is Steph ^-^ and I have been dying to do a Lord of the Rings role-play forever. Forgive me, this is my first time making a thread that isn't a one-on-one so if I miss something or make a mistake, let me know! I have never actually role-played LOTR before but I have read it and seen it so I wouldn't be completely clueless on what to do. However it has been a long time, so if I mess up just let me know!

I accept original characters and new characters. This is what your skeleton should look like:

For example, Aragon's title is King of Gondor. Not everyone needs a title you can just list their profession, just something I thought would be important and helpful. So here are all the original characters that I thought of.

There are a lot more, those are just some of the ones I thought of. The bolded names are ones that are needed. We could probably get away without Legolas and Gimili, but LOTR just wouldn't be the same without them. I'm debating if I want to join as an original, a new character or both.

Oh we should try to keep the ratio of races even, but it's not a terribly big deal. Might just be odd to have twelve elves and then only one dwarf. Whatever happens, happens though.

UPDATE 07-11-11 : Elizabeth16 has given me a wonderful idea. Instead of trying to follow the original fellowship, we're going to create our own, that way it will be easier to fit our characters in. So you still may play original characters, just know that it will not be the same as in the movie. Again too lazy to erase and re-write everything so I just added more XD

Personality:Riniel is compassionate and caring, this is clear by her profession. Even thug she is shy, she is still stubborn and is a hard worker. Raised to treat every race with gentleness, she trusted easily, which was her biggest flaw. Riniel loves simplicity and having a plan. Even though she appears to be gentle and weak, she knows how to use a sword.

History: Riniel was raised with her mother, father, grandfather and grandmother. Each one teaching her valuable lessons. Her mother and grandmother taught her how to heal while her father and grandfather taught her how to fight and use her sword. Her life had been simple and pleasant, no horrible scenarios, no evil ruler taking over the world, just plain happiness and longevity. She moved out into her own home and started her career as a healer.

History: Sam has known Fordo and Bilbo Baggins ever since he was a lad. Unlike Fordo, Samwise Gamgee was a common hobbit, not knowing the life of fame since the Baggins name comes along with fame.

History: Arwen had a great childhood, but she felt she was needed elsewhere in the world. The pull she feels has been causing her to wander throughout Middle Earth for many years. Title: Has not earned a title yet, as she is an exceptionally young elf
Profession: Rilgania is a warrior, just completing training. She excels with a long bow, and is a Archer of Mirkwood. She bears a sword, but is hesitant to use it.

Personality: Rilgania is a young elf in her age, but a elf by all means. Her eyes are sharp, watching around her constantly, taking everything in. She was raised in the forests of Mirkwood to be quick in action, keen in senses, and wary of ease. Rilgania is not quiet, but grows strong in opinion with companions, though she often is very aware of her age and strives to be older, and wiser. Mirkwood's trees have confined her free roaming spirit, leaving her anxious to get out. She is stubborn by all means, and though young in age, she is loyal to a fault... But something about this human war, and the dragons overhead offer more freedom than the forests of Mirkwood...

Race: Half Elf Half Human

Title: The Wanderer(to the elves);to others he has no title
Profession: Alanoth is trained as both a Gondorian Ranger, and as an elven warrior. He currently avoids taking a side, but is inclined to assist those of the good side who cannot defend themselves.
Appearance: 6'4" tall, fair mostly human skin complexion, short black hair just beneath the ears, brown eyes with a hazel ring on the edge of the brown, moderate muscle w/no body fat. Wears a mixture of Elven and Gondorian Ranger clothing, almost like light armor.
Personality: Alanoth is a mysterious elf who mostly avoids contact with others. He usually avoids attention, and does a good job of it normally. However, when he is forced to interact with people, it depends on what kind of person you are and whether you are male or female. If you are a man, he will treat you neutrally unless you are evil, in which case he will treat you with disgust. If you are a woman, he will treat you with the utmost of respect, even if you are evil. He usually avoids making friends or relationships, as they can potentially cause him emotional harm.
History: Alanoth was born to an elven mother of Rivendell who had fallen in love with a Gondorian Ranger. They both formed a passionate relationship, and so Alanoth was conceived. Most elves had no idea of what to think of Alanoth initially, so Elrond declared that Alanoth was to be treated based on his actions. When he was an adolescent, his father taught him how to fight as a man, and his mother taught him how to fight as an elf. He became one of the best marksmen of all knowledge due to his inherited elven and Ranger abilities. He also became proficient in any sword to the point that Haldir himself once sparred against Alanoth in a training session which Haldir thoroughly enjoyed. Alanoth's mother was killed by a goblin near Moria's mountains, and his father died during one of the first few sieges of Osgiliath. Left with no one, Alanoth vowed to never form a relationship, and went off on his own to wander Middle Earth.

All righty we seem to be good on elves, well except for Legolas. We need some other races, I'm glad we have someone who's playing half elf-half human. That shall be interesting.

A few questions and stuff before I decide.

First off, will this be going from the start of Fellowship of the Ring (first book/movie) or will it be at the end of Return of the King (last book/movie) or somewhere in the middle (although I think I know when it will be set)? Secondly, how many characters will you let one person make and control? I know some people don't like others taking more then two slots for roleplays, but I was thinking I could make some (maybe three or four of them, depending) of my characters from the LOTR games I've played and take one of the original characters (I need one for two of my character's stories to work).

That's it. That's all I have to ask.

I want it to start at the Council of Elrond (so yes the first book/movie) and start the journey from there. I don't care how many characters you play, play your little hearts desire! I don't know if you've read all my comments, but we don't need anymore elves (except for Legolas). That is all I have to say. Anymore questions?

I don't think we should follow the fellowship storyline... Why not look at the characters we have, put them in Elrond's Council, and create our own version of LOTR?

You say you want frodo and everyone... Why not start all the characters we have, including any original LOTR character, and create a different Fellowship? We still have to destroy the ring... But how, and who, is different.

Or you work with original characters and fit them into the original LOTR storyline, which would be hard.

It just gives more room for creativity and more serious character development. It's really the only way it could work with so many elves. If no dwarves sign, you could say the dwarfs refused to partake in the destruction of the Ring! :)

History: Peryn grew up in the Dwarven city of Erebor with hes merchant family. from early age Peryn showed skills with the axe and where for some time a soldier in the army fighting the mountain goblins. as he got older he went up in the ranks and is now one of the best royal guards. sendt by the king to rivendell to the counsel.

Personality: Grunthorm is a serious kind of guy, who gets the job done without asking questions. He lives off of the joy of driving his victims to the very brink of their sanity before he turns them in, or if he is in a bad mood, kills them.
He also has this twisted sense of humour, not so popular with most people. he is also very stubborn, and doesn't like not getting things done on his own terms.

History: From his birth on, Grunthorm was orphaned after his parents left him for dead in a forest right after his very birth. Only luck struck him as the remaining Wood elves took him in and raised him up with all their care till the day he was old enough to go out on his own.
Unfortunately, he got into a fight with a local elf who had been pestering him for a long time, and ended up killing him in cold blood. As a result of this, Grunthorm was sent out to fend for himself. He decided to travel to the forest of Fangorn, where he quickly ended up training himself up to become more agile, faster and an effective hunter.
Discovered by a recruiter, he got a job as a bounty-hunter, and got trained by his employers to assassinate swiftly, but deadly.

Personality: Círdan had a profound effect upon the course of Middle-earth history. He was a loyal servant and friend of Elwë, sacrificing his heart’s desire in search of him. Círdan was a Sindar, and Lord of the Falathrim during the First Age. He was also awarded Narya, one of the Three Rings, until he surrendered it to Gandalf. He was one of the last elves in Middle-earth, sailing West at last probably sometime in the Fourth Age.
Lindon remained his home throughout the Second and Third Ages. Throughout the Second Age, Lindon was under the direct rule of High King Gil-galad. At the time of the fall of Eregion, Celebrimbor sent two of the Three Rings north to the High King, and Gil-galad in turn passed one of these to Círdan; Narya, the Ring of Fire. At the end of the Second Age, Gil-galad fell in the War of the Last Alliance, leaving Lindon without a ruler. His natural heir would have been Elrond, who had long since removed to Imladris, and so Círdan took on the leadership of the Elves west of the Blue Mountains.
The early years of the Third Age were, for Círdan and the elves, mostly a time to catch their breaths after the fall of Sauron in the War of the Alliance. For more than a thousand years they went undisturbed,but at around T.A. 1050 a shadow began to lengthen. Though many deemed that Sauron was defeated forever, for the first time in many centuries some evil was stirring, and awake. It was at this time the Istari, sent by the Valar, came. Círdan was one of the few of the Wise left; of the other ancient elves, only Celeborn, Galadriel, Glorfindel (who was resurrected), and Elrond remained. He was the most foresighted of all of them, and alone knew the true purpose of the Istari. He also saw deep into the future of Gandalf, and gave him Narya, his greatest possession and one of the most secret and sought-after treasures in the world.

Círdan invited onto the White Council when it was formed in 2463 in response to the rise of the Necromancer, whose identity was at that point concealed. Galdor was his messenger to Rivendell, though for reasons unknown. It may be that he, too, felt the growing shadow, even as his friend Gandalf did. Sent by Círdan "on errand", Galdor attended the Council of Elrond, speaking with authority on his lord’s behalf.

I think "Eli" is familiar with Storm's game he's trying to run right now too. Also LotR, but in the Mature section and rather serious beans. This sounds like it might be a better place for me to start and get used to things. Now... onto business:

Before I post my profile thinger, I'd like to say that I WILL be taking an official character as well (Sees we have a Princess already. Hi hi there. lol) But would like to jump in at a certain point of the films since you're all playing fan-made characters. Said person I wish to take, is Boromir of Gondor. Now, what I was thinking of doing was this; The point he dies, he is struck by arrows and dies, (most likely from lung shot or internal bleeding). Either way, it really isn't that horrible of a wound, just too serious for a mortal to survive. Could it be possible to make things AU and have something magical happen.. bringing him back from death? I mean, with all these orcs and uglies born from the earth in sacks, Sauron, and god knows what else after Frodo is also healed by the elves.. do you think it not possible? Rare, yes, but possible?

The story needs to move forewords and progress, rather then stand still. History: Wethra was born upon Mt Gundabad, birthplace of Durin and she is closely related with that line for her family has lived there for uncountable years. She spent much of her time wandering the mountain paths and it was through this that her passion for the mountains was kindled in her heart. When she was 15 Wethra and her parents visited their kin who dwelt in the Lonely Mountain. There she found weaponsmiths of great skill from which she learned much, mastering the craft faster than she had before. She also gained aquaintance with Thrain, King under the Mountain and he began teaching her to wield a sword and battle Axe, skills she also excelled at. For 5 years she trained and practiced there until the dragon came. Smaug killed her parents but their sacrifice allowed her to escape with Thrain through the hidden passage, out of the Lonely Mountain. After her parents death Thrain adopted her and her loyalty to him and his family swiftly became unshakable. She fought with them in the war against the Orcs of Hithaeglir and battled alongside Thorin, Thrain's son, in the battle at Nanduhirion. She came with Train upon his quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain but when he was lost in the forest of Mirkwood she did not return to Thorin's Halls in Ered Luin. She wandered in grief into the Misty Mountains and eventually made her home upon Caradhras. There she slay's the Orcs that swarm from Moria and tames the great wolves that prowl the mountain passes.
