View Full Version : Elder council, secret societies, and other groups
Here we will discuss the famed Elder Council as well as the option in adding secret societies (Sure it looks like they hate each other but secretly they are working together =D ).
Firstly, the Elder Council: A famous group who's selfless acts and great understanding of the world help decide the fate of it and all inhabitants under the many Gods. Who is part of it and is there a limit in seats?
Secondly, the secret societies: only heard of in mythos and conspiracies, covertly attempt trivial plots to sway the outcome in their favor. The underlying factor here is deception. I feel that word will play a big part in much of WoRPA to get by and make decisions as well as deepening the story.
We can also expand on the possibilities of factions maybe...
So... shall we start the bidding?

The Elder Council and secret societies sounds like a great idea.The Elder Council to uphold order whenever there is chaos and the secret societies wreak chaos or cause mischief when they feel like there's too much order.You could say they can't stand each other but will just become bored without the others.Though,the secret societies are not the big bad,they're like the anti-hero or minor villain or something like that.
Plus,how about we have a cult for each of the three big bad.While the big bads are busy fighting among each other,the cults will support them in their conquest by attacking the mortal kingdoms.They may be not as dangerous as the demons and monsters each big bad control but its a suitable start.The three cults,though,are also against each other too so expect some crossfire.

Well we definitely need to limit the seats on the council but still have any large group represented.
@Deadmind
Glad you brought up the cults of the ugly trio. They could all have their own unique ability and look.
And agreed, the secret societies aren't going to be any main villain but simply the anti-hero as you said. Anyone can be part of them and will simply and enjoyingly add to the drama in the story.
@Siksta
Agreed, we need a limit on the seats available. Of course two NPCs(one favoring only peace while another only favors war) would be nice in case an assassination is needed in a later for whatever drama created for a sidequest.
Who should be worthy of having a seat? We need a single representative from whatever faction/kingdom/etc they are from instead of having their friends too. Also, I find that dividing the overall players in the rp by half or even a third could help determine the amount of seats in the council.

Well generally the Elder council is comprised of the oldest and wisest of a race not so much of a city or kingdom. That'd create too much like the Roman Republic.

One thing that might be interesting is to not only have a representative per kingdom, but to also have a second in command per representative, sort of like a "Vice President". The Second in Command would ensure that, if anything were to happen to the First in Command, that there's someone to fill the space so that kingdoms don't get the short end of the stick. Or at least that would be the aim XD.
@Siksta
Yeah I'm feeling we should include both kingdoms and races. Or perhaps have the kingdoms speak to the Elder of their race to carry on their thoughts to the council meeting.
@Wattz
Having a second-in-command would be wise, yes. Especially if one of the council members were assassinated.

Might be a little too much bother wouldn't it just be easier if we make them one and the same?
As for what exactly? I'm picturing the secret societies won't come till later, better yet, let us make it that way! In the next chapter, once we understand what is going on, then we can have secret societies! This way, all the characters can get to know one another before deciding to deceptively wicked things. As for the second-in-command, they won't come along to the Elder Council till someone is actually killed or retired.
BUT then again, let us see what others think!

END GAME - so far
We will hold off on the council till chapter 2. This may be best till we further see who joins the PR before stating he has a seat. Same goes for secret societies as the end of chapter 1 will show what becomes of everything.
