This thread is a place where music lovers can share their favorite songs with eachother, or send out dedications one at a time. This thread's purpose is to enrich our understanding of the music, and even eachother, by lending insight into, and our thoughts and feelings about the songs we share.

This should not be treated as a "Forum Game" or a source for quick and easy posts. What sets this thread apart from your run of the mill, "What Are You Listening To?" thread, is the sentiment behind the songs and dedications we choose to share at that particular moment. These sentiments can range from a variety of different reasons, depending on the song and person, but keep it intellectual and thoughtful.

All rules of this site and section should be followed at all times.

Let me lead off with a good example.

The Tragically Hip - Bobcaygeon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpaTDK7kkNA&sns=em)

From The Hip's 1998 album, Phantom Power, this beautiful, soulful track never fails to bring me all the way back to the summer of 98. Nostalgia and this song walk hand-and-hand for me. Poets was all over the radio, and everyone was talking about Y2K.

I was not able to find a studio version on youtube, unfortunately, but this live preformance of the song in a small club provides an intimate look at this classic track from the outstanding career of The Tragically Hip.

Enjoy.

I'm going to double tap once a day until this thread gets going, to give more examples of how flexable it can be.*

You don't have to write an essay on the song, just have some thoughts or feelings about it.

I know there are some die hard music lovers kicking around ;)

Chris Rene - Young Homie (X-Factor Audition) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYPTS_39I8g&sns=em)

Inspiring, powerful stuff!!! I watched this the night it aired on TV, and I was overwhelmed into tears, just moved by this kid, his unbelievable talent, and inspiring story.

This young man who "used" to collect trash in California, has a beautiful voice and style of possitive hip hop.

Also, notice how no one takes him seriously except Niki until he starts to do his thing.

He blew myself, and all 4 Judges, including Simon Cowell, and LA Reid away.

If you give him 9 minutes of your life, he will blow you away too.

So the song I picked for this one is definitely Alexander Rybak's "Oah."

A couple of things about this song. One, the video is totally straight up 50s style Norway, which is kind of adorable. It's also cute and kind of folk-y.

This song has guided me through many a hard day, it sort of just makes me smile, no matter what. It's just one of those feel good kind of things. Even if Alexander is a bit stalker-y. It was from his first major English-language album "No Boundaries." which actually has quite a few really decent songs on it. The amazing thing is, that for most of real "classic" Norwegian songs, I can understand them, Dansk is mutually intelligible with Norwegian.

I don't know, it's kind of got that weird romantic feeling. Rybak is a former Eurovision winner, which doesn't stand for much, especially since most people in the Americas don't really know what that is. It's not impressive. Anyway, le song.

Ok, I'll give it a try~ :>

Blue Lips - Regina Spektor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqQXJ16mzrk)
This song makes my heart break every time I listen to it. Regina came from Moscow and she studied classical piano in the Manhattan School of Music when she was 17, and began writing her own songs, including this one, Blue Lips. I think a widely agreed theory about what the whole song is about is that we are all connected by our blood- the blue. I love the last few lines in the third verse, they just speak to me. The lyrics are saying how people are proud of such little achievements, everyone is becoming the same, nobody stands out, everyone does the same. It's just beautiful. And painfully truthful.

WELL done you two!!! And thank you for that!

<3 This is what I created the thread for!! ^_^

Eminem - Space Bound (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqmhFrRKGg8&sns=em)

Despite how you might feel about Eminem, and his music, rarely has he been so serious, real, and passionate on a track, and what a beautiful track!

From his 7th studio album Recovery, this emtional track an video is about a conflicted couple, and the lyrics tackle some common issues I think we can ALL relate to in one way or another.

The song features cuts from Drive by R.E.M. and Song for Bob by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis if I'm not mistaken.

I love the chorus of this track!! It's an emotional roller coaster when contrasted with Eminem's hard hitting verses.

Lovely song by Slim, that just might suprise you.
