Didn't a thread like this exist? WHERE DID IT DISAPPEAR TO? I MUST POST MY DKR NEWS!
This just in, new poster...

Also, I saw a unique gem that most people won't see until the 16th. The 6 minute intro to Dark Knight Rises, similar to what they did with Dark Knight back then.
The first six minutes of the Dark Knight gave a fantastic introduction to our lovely character The Joker in the bank robbery scene I'm sure everyone's familiar with. Now they're doing the same with Bane, but does it match up? Fuck yes it does... I was watching a poor wobbly cam version, I can only imagine how it looks in the new IMAX format Nolan's pioneering. IMAX has been out for awhile, but never like this... my film tech-nuts are going bonkers over this film (that never once mentions 3D, joy to my ears).
After Bane's explosive introduction, we're given a one minute montage of scenes in the film (a trailer within a trailer). The last scene blew my face off... If any of you live near an IMAX theatre, go watch the new MI4 movie to catch this gem! And no, I'm not spoilin' shit! And yes, I'm going to be annoying about it!

True, but Nolan does enjoy taking different tracks here and there... and I actually enjoy the aura of "Batman may lose or die in the film" which definitely makes the suspense in the film a lot more real.
Most Batman fans will be familiar with Bane's iconic full-page "BREAK YOU" panel.

And since I enjoy over-thinking set pictures, I can conclude that they won't at least do it that way... because here's a picture of Tom Hardy foolin' around with one of the crew.

With the enormous lid of secrecy on the film I seriously doubt that Tom would hint at a major spoiler such as this. Seems more as a throwback to the original panel above (since I'm sure Tom Hardy read all the Bane comics as soon as he got the part).
But yes, Batman has a chance of being crippled or even dying... I can't wait till the new trailer comes out, let alone the movie itself!
Major Bane fan here! Hoping for a great Bane if not a decent Bane from Nolan... or else I'll break his fucking back! *carried away by RPA staff*

Agreed!
I have faith that Nolan has done a fantastic job with Bane!
Christopher Nolan discussing when he first encountered Bane as a possible villain for the film:
“I didn’t know him very well. David Goyer got me a bunch of stuff on him and we looked into him. I only knew him by name, I wasn’t familiar with his back story. He’s a very cool character.”
Nolan on choosing Tom Hardy:
“Getting an actor like Tom to take it on, you know you’re going to get something very special. Tom is somebody who really knows how to put character into every gesture, every aspect of his physicality in the way that great actors can. He’s a very, very physical actor. He transforms himself and it’s there in every movement. He’s not afraid to look at a character from the outside as well as the inside so there’s a deep psychological branch to the character but also a very, very specific awareness of how he’s going to use his body and his appearance to express that character too. Christian is like that too, very much.”
Bane's character in The Dark Knight Rises:
“With Bane, the physicality is the thing. With a good villain you need an archetype, you know, you need the extreme of some type of villainy. The Joker is obviously a particular archetype of diabolical, chaotic anarchy and has a devilish sense of humor. Bane, to me, is something we haven’t dealt with in the films. We wanted to do something very different in this film. He’s a primarily physical villain, he’s a classic movie monster in a way — but with a terrific brain. I think he’s a fascinating character. I think people are going to get a kick out of what we’ve done with him.”
I think it's safe to say that this movie is going to kick butt. We're going to get a bane that has more then one line... "BAAAAAAAAAAANE!!!" from that god-awful Batman and Robin film.

Apparently one movie reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes has received death threats due to his negative review of the film...
Damn... we Batman fans don't take negative feedback well it seems. Plus I'm betting everyone who sent threats haven't even seen the film.
Da fuk?
Shows how crazy you Fans is! Dat movie bedda be good or I is starting a waaagh!!!

WHY YOUS HATIN ON DA TITLE? WHATD IT DO TO YA?
It is terrible. Plainly terrible. There was no effort put into naming this.
Maybe my opinion on it will change after actually watching the movie, but I hate that name so much. XD
***SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS*** I thought the film was good for the most part (though it felt a bit incomplete/chunky compared to the other two), but the big reveal in the final half hour was absolutely AWFUL. Marion Cotillard's awfully wooden acting, simpering "my father's work is done" and dying a nanosecond later, easily dragged the movie down... and what was with Batman/Catwoman's long, passionate kiss when, A) no romantic chemistry had been established between them beforehand and B) they were only a couple of metres away from a bomb set to explode in a couple of minutes. Otherwise a decent film; enjoyed Hathaway's performance. ***SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS***

*CONTINUING THE SPOILERS ZOMG*
Yeah, while I knew beforehand who Talia was I felt that it was a bait and switch with Bane who up until then seemed like a menacing villain, then was given a "zap ur ded" ending that felt incomplete. Nolan seems to do a good job establishing villains, though has trouble figuring out how to add a satisfactory defeat to the characters.
I guess I should add a "WHAT HOUSEMASTER THINKS" post... Here I goes!
What The Dark Knight Rises did well
Relationship between Alfred and Bruce: The chemistry between Alfred and Bruce has always been an integral part of any Batman story, movie or comic. It was done very well here, adding the bit of comedy we've seen in the previous two films, but adding the extra emotional line that both characters deal with the possibility of Bruce's death. The last conversation where Alfred reveals the letter Rachel had written in the previous film - outstanding scene.
Catwoman: Everyone was unsure how Anne would do. "Oops..." after this line everyone in the theatre was 100% confident of her rendition of the character. What was interesting was they never once called her Catwoman, the only mention of 'cat' was her being a cat burglar. She was cunning, strong, and sexy... an overall good performance that was neither over the top nor boring.
Batman and Bane's first fight: Holy fucking shit...
In my opinion, this was the best part of the entire film. Bane's character took time to get invested in as his voice seemed odd. Thankfully his second scene showing his bare body showed Tom Hardy's frightening physique and intimidation, which thankfully transferred to his voice. Then he goes one on one with Batman. This rivals the Joker interrogation scene, Bane's intimidation settles deep when Batman cuts the lights as a last resort against Bane.
"Ah... so you think the dark is your ally? You merely adopted the dark... I was born in it. Moulded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man and by then it was nothing to me but a blight! *Nabs the Bat by the neck through from the shadows* The shadows betray you because they belong to me!"
I only wished Bane wasn't discarded so feebly with Talia's story arc... oh well...
The Situation: The Joker held Gotham hostage with fear and chaos. Bane holds it hostage with a nuclear bomb while giving its citizens hope for survival. It was grand, it was spectacular, it was filled with explosions that did not reduce itself to slow-mo gadgetry you'd find in Transformers, GI-joe, and also in The Avengers. The whole hostage-city situation felt enormous in its execution, yet real enough to seem that it could actually be pulled off.
The End: The film was ultimately made to end Nolan's legend. At this time we see Batman fly out and get seemingly annihilated by an atom bomb. The following montage of the aftermath slowly hints at small instances that something is amiss. Everyone believes Bruce and Batman is dead, but tiny things hint that he's not. First, Selina isn't shown, then it's revealed Bruce had fixed the auto-pilot while we get a quick scene of Jim Gordon discovering a new Bat-signal on the police headquarter's roof, and a pearl necklace has gone missing from Bruce's will.
Then, with Alfred sitting in the cafe in Florence, the movie score has its climax when Alfred nods past the camera. I would have loved it to end then and there, never really seeing Bruce or Selina and leaving it entirely to our imagination.
Things I wished didn't happen:
Talia al Gul: I like her as a character in the comics, however I didn't really think she fit very well into the last chapter. To get everyone invested in Bane's legendary status as a child prisoner, bred into a monstrous tactician, only to have the rug thrown from our feet and throwing Talia into the mix. The movie could have gone without the Miranda/Talia character... focused more screen time on Selina and Bruce's relationship or heaven forbid more badass Bane!
Bane's death: "Hi, my name is Bane... I am probably the most badass Dark Knight movie character to ever grace the screen! Oh? I'm now reduced to henchman who's being pussywhipped by the un-needed character of Talia? Oh, I'm now gonna be bat-zapped by the batpod? The end..."
Ugh... I really hoped for something bigger then that. Oh well...
---------------- END SPOILERS-----------------------
Go see the movie... goddammit! SEE IT! RAH RAH RAH!!!!

AT THE END IT'S REVELED THAT BANE WAS ACTUALLY CHUCK TESTA.
WHY CAN'T I REP THIS?
And my sister fell asleep in the middle of this movie. I never got to see it though.
It was pretty spectacular. Though I didn't like the ending at all, the beginning to mid was very entertaining.
My fav of the Nolan(yes I said Nolan cause I like Tim Burton's ones just as much) movies? I prefer the first two more even if this did include one of my favorite characters.
Also glad to see that Tom Hardy did an excellent performance AND might I add, redeemed the character as the jockstrap on his head wasn't helping Bane's image one bit.

Disclaimer: I've not read the comics so most of my experience (especially of characters) is based on the films.
Saw it last week with my girlfriend and thought it was definitely the best of the three. I remember going into the film that she said she wouldn't be able to take Anne Hathaway seriously because of all her "princess" roles, but by the end we both thought she'd pulled it off surprisingly well (I'm also impressed by how they managed to suggest cat ears without being silly). Of the other characters Blake was very likeable, and despite his relatively low screen-time Michael Caine put a lot of emotion into Alfred's scenes.
Bane was an awesome villain (even if at first I couldn't get it out of my head that he sounded just like Deckard Cain from Diablo...) - his death at the end was a little abrupt, but he had already been effectively defeated by Batman at this point so it wasn't too bad.
I spent a while thinking about the twist regarding Talia and whether it was legitimate or too out of left field. I'll see what extra early clues and realisations a repeat viewing brings.
The one thing that bugged me in The Dark Knight, the nagging feeling that "there's no way the Joker could have planned nor improvised half of this", did return slightly in the way Bane's thugs always seemed to get wind of the heroes plans and turn up to foil them. However, I'm not going to complain about something that preserved the story's drama.
The way everything tied together in the final scene (with Blake being "Robin", and the encounter in Florence) was predictable but still awesome.
All in all, a good plot, stylish execution, well acted all round, and a very entertaining film.

And although I liked the film, this article (http://www.cracked.com/article_20012_if-dark-knight-rises-was-10-times-shorter-more-honest.html) was pretty funny.

This ^
Glad I was not the only one who thought that.
Yeah.
Also I still think the greatest moment in that movie was the part where they planned to blow up the stadium (the part where the little kid sang), and me starting chuckling at the thought of the kid acutally exploding while singing (I'm evil). Then again, soon after I started laughing, I kinda got the whole crowd to laugh with me as well (I guess they are evil too).
How amusing that you brought everyone together in a mass of laughter... all because of your imagination.
If only mine reached such success as yours. Sadly, I lost the nuke to Batman and Gotham remained standing.
Of course, reprisals are just around the corner...
My favourite bit was near the end, when Batman is beating up Bane and screaming out
"Where is it? Where is it?"
T_T so perfect.
I love Batman gravel voice. This moment topped the "Where is he?" from The Dark Knight.

I was able to create a special moment during my second viewing during the midnight premere. In IMAX, there were no trailers before the film, only an extremely awkward 30 second pause of complete and utter darkness. During this time, everyone, and I mean everyone was super hyped, tense, excited, nervous, a whole plethora of emotions. It only took me and my pathological attention whoring to kill any tension by suddenly screaming in my best Batman Voice:
"HERGER BA JIGGA WOR HOCKEY PAAAAAAAAADS!!!!!!!"
The entire theatre then erupted with laughter, then other joined in. Soon enough the entire theatre was conversing with eachother using the groggy Batman voice.
"TELL ME WHAR THA OTHR DRUGS WAR GOING!!!"
"I'M NOT TELLING I AM BATMAN!"
"NOOO I AMM BATMAN RAGHAGHAGHAGH!"
"BRRBLBRBLRBRBL ALFRED WABRLGL CHEESEWIZ!!!"
"GRRRRRGL NO CHEESEWIZ!"
"YESSSS CHEESEWIZ I WILL MURDER YOUR FAAAAAACE!"
***
I was never more proud to be in a theatre packed full of like-minded knobs such as myself. T'was magical C:
Awesome.
Batman Gravel Voice.... so good.
It only took me and my pathological attention whoring to kill any tension
Enough said.
