Name: Marcel Sageleaf

Race: Human

Age: 19

Profession: Earth Mage

Description:
About 5’8”, lean to a slightly emaciated level, he’s not a very muscular guy with his slim build, and his usually loose-hanging robes only emphasize it. His features are somewhat delicate with that heart-shaped face, yet sharper defined cheekbones, his jaw stubborn and sleek eyebrows suggesting intelligence. Long lashes frame cobalt blue eyes, his loose mid-length black hair usually tied back with a bit of green ribbon or (like when he’s making potions) mostly covered and held back by a scarf. His clothes are simple homespun tunic and trews, with soft leather shoes, and with a leather belt and a couple knives and a dagger sheathed at his waist. A second belt holding spell components and with a couple potion-flasks hanging from it loosely hangs across the other. He wears loose open-front green robes as denotes his magical profession, with a darker green silk scarf for helping keep his hair back or grasping magicked items of a certain delicate nature. He carries a plain wooden pole to help with walking and as a means of some self-defense.

His health is delicate. He’s prone to gasping for breath with any exertion, easily exhausted, prone to catching colds and pneumonia. Unfortunately, his own potions and charms can’t help him much, and he can’t afford to buy that of other mages. As graceful and agile as any average guy from a small town, which means he can't sneak up on anyone to save his life.

Personality:
Quiet, loyal, soft-spoken, and stubborn. He’s kind-hearted and not greedy, but very practical and takes his profession seriously, having pride in it and the results of his hard studies. He has his pride, and though he knows his physical limits, tries to pretend he’s as hale as the next guy so he won’t lose face. He tries not to get attached to anyone closely, in part so they don’t realize his frail health and also because he doesn’t feel worth anyone’s love when he’s “weak” like this.

Skills:
Earth Magic – A profession that uses a combination of components, natural magical affinity for the elemental earth energies, and key phrases and gestures to trigger spells. Such mages are of a somewhat shamanistic nature, making charms and wards and mixing potions and salves with items of the natural world, and can also read weather-signs the animals leave to determine droughts and major storm seasons. A few make poisons, as well. The profession is treated with wary dislike by most folk because they can make evil charms too.

Animal Magnetism – A side-effect of being an earth mage is that animals accept you. A bear, for example, might attack another person in the woods but would only brush past Marcel and lead her cubs on, ignoring him. A horse that might cause others trouble will obey him easily. Stray dogs and cats occasionally stay with him.

Knife and Dagger – Marcel’s reasonably adept with a blade in close-combat, but he’s not strong enough usually to handle a professional foe in that regard.

Bo Staff – Useful for poking around in the woods for what he needs, and for making walking easier on rough terrain, he can wield it in a fight if he needs to, and he’s a bit better with it than a knife or dagger. Problem is, though, he gets tired very fast.

Bio:
Marcel grew up in a small town, the third son of a miller. Due to his fragile health and testing positive with magical skill by the local earth mage, the family collected their savings and sent him to mage-school. He found he had the same affinity for the earth element as the woman who noticed his magical skills to begin with, and despite his limited endurance he was a good student. When he graduated and returned home, he found his family in debt, his mother dead, his father injured from an accident at the mill, and immediately helped his brothers deal with the debts and care for his father until the man passed away a few months later. His brothers took over the mill, and Marcel couldn’t impose on them any longer—he set out for his own fortunes. At a distant small town, he set up a small shop and found some regular—if limited—clientele among the local farmers and townfolk, not fully accepted yet making ends meet.

Race: Tiefling—devil descent, but unaware of it.

Age: 16.

Profession: Gypsy Rogue.

Acantha is a relatively short individual when her human descent is taken into consideration. At a young age her growth stunted seemingly roughly around 4'10", though she uses her dainty frame to her advantage for stealth missions. Lengthy, curved horns with various indents, cuts, and bizarre, black rings cause her to stick out in a crowd, though she is likely to have stuck out even without the obvious demonic ancestry thanks to other parts of her appearance. Hacked up hair is definitely a dead indicator of her oddities as it was clearly cut up with a dagger of some sort in a frantic rush for whatever reason. Beneath each of her eyes are four dermal piercings made of bones she's collected over the years, which were put there on her own accord. The cartilage piercings all are made of the same bones, jagged looking, and clearly put there by their owner same with the small crescent moon strung through the bridge of her nose. Protruding from her back are pointed rib bones she pierced through herself years ago, which strategically curved over her backpack. Around her neck is simple, dark cloth buttoned up around her neck that ends a bit below her shoulders. Beneath it is a lighter colored, tight cloth covering her breasts, back, legs, and a portion of her abdomen, though a large area has been cut out to reveal her toned stomach. On her calves are sort of shinguards made of studded leather and gauze. She typically carries around her guisarme.

Due to her small frame and extensive training, Acantha has a high dexterity and can zip in and out of places relatively quickly.

On a random note, her skin is also hot to touch as if she is suffering from a constant fever, though she expresses no ill symptoms.

Personality:
Charisma is definitely not an aspect Acantha has a high amount of. The stubborn tiefling has a habit of slinking into the shadows, seldom entering crowds willingly. Deceiving and lying come naturally to her, especially when it comes to disguising herself. It is a rarity for her to trust anyone, let alone stay in one place for too long.

It was awesome! C: I loved seeing my dad and having him meet my boyfriend (he's never met anyone I've dated). I honestly wish we could have stayed longer, but that's the disadvantage of working retail :< don't really get much vacation time.

That definitely sucks :< the lack of time I mean. I felt terrible for the timing of when I went, honestly. I tried to convince my dad to do August instead, but he's in the military and really doesn't get too much of an opening in vacation time. *sigh* But I'm the best employee (excluding my manager and AM, of course) at my store and I darted out of 4th of July and a huge store change. :C I came back in time to do the store change, but my manager insisted to give me a vacation after my vacation because she figured it really wore me out, so I wasn't allowed to help @__@ Anyway... End rant on that portion. *cough&

Mostly just stayed around with my dad and saw parts of the small town he lives in, but towards the end of it we went to a place called Tombstone. My brother and I have been there plenty of times, but I wanted to drag my boyfriend along since he's never been to Arizona prior to our trip C: It was a blast.

I'd probably wanna live in Arizona if it was more green and less hot. ((The heat absolutely KILLS me @___@)

That's fun, tho--family and BF time, a little sightseeing, no pressure... relax time. :D So, as you'll be gone again, is this that second vacation? Lol. I wish my boss would do that! But she'd only give me a day off, not more, as we never know how busy it can get suddenly.

OH, sorry for taking forever! I brought my laptop to my boyfriend's thinking I'd use it (and hoping to reply, as well as other things) but I forgot it was there and played Grand Theft Auto 4 instead :( (I'm almost done with the game).

You can introduce them. I don't have a set plan. Marcel can still fling some annoying spells into it, too. Or nasty potions at folk. He's not defenseless, tho he does better at a distance from foes. Close up, he's not good at physically defending himself because spells need a sec and the occasional gesture.

Tho let Marcel get a good shot off. He's got an awesome and simple curse spell to start the bandits off with. Hehe.

Okie, so, let's see. I was thinking maybe there'd be some kind of rather dangerous creature, like a Night-mare or Hippacorn, something nobody would try to steal because it'd be really hard for your average bandit to handle or sell. Some farmer might've got it or inherited it or somesuch, but maybe it's been neglected because they don't live near the barn in question or they really don't want it but aren't sure how to sell it or anything. And maybe a dog was set to guard or something. That way they can shelter for the night, maybe consider buying or taking the beast, and heck, maybe they can charm the dog into liking them and coming with, or it just takes a liking to one of our two.

Just my idea. It's your turn to post tho.
