Thanks Azazeal and actually I believe Pheonix meant for them to see her get shot in the passenger cabin chase Huntsman to the Cargo hold and then return to check on Keravnos. So no they did infant enter from the passenger cabin. I really appreciate you going through all this trouble to try and keep things consistent. :)

Erm, very intense post Alice. I like the development of the bone armour. I'd just like to point out that Huntsman is just a hunter of the natural, and to a degree the supernatural, rather than a witch hunter, and therefore does not carry the world's most convenient flask of blessed water. I was flattered by the ingenuity, but if you insist that Huntsman does in fact own that Holy water I will use it as another weapon.

EDIT: Actually, I think I'll keep that water.

Oh! I like the idea of her raining her own twisted vengence on the others. It certainly would make the game more interesting, though I think I may bring in someone else in her place. Maybe.....graduating from high school doesn't seem to give me any more time to do as I please. We shall see. For now however I will be away from home until sometime Sunday. Also this is either the worst or best time to whine, but Potato's post was completely inaccurate. When dealing with beasts of fire, that melted your gun before eating it, the blasts would have gone off muuuuuuuch sooner. But okay, I'll give it to him, the explosive rounds were eaten and exploded later. But I left my hounds in the school to eat his body and to keep Az and Jac busy when they got free. So if the explosion did go off later, it would just have been bad for DP, Az, and Jac. Though, not that bad for DP since he was already dead. But okay, give it to you again, your post, you can be as god mody as you like, just don't make the other person's character look like a bitch. Did everyone misread that fire aura around dominus? I tried a similar thing earlier, though without the respawn (the logic being that anyone who wanted to counter-tag could include my respawn in their own post) but it just ended up confusing people so I made it a non-attacking post. Yours is better though because Huntsman is clearly back and attackable at the end of the post.

Very nice post Jac, though the entire point of hacking Lupi's jaw off was so that he couldn't summon more reinforcements (with the possible added bonus of not having to listen to his constant taunts and proclamations lol). Still, I suppose he could have grown it back, much as Keravnos did with her various wounds.

@Az - Dominus never needed his voice or a chant to call forth the hounds. He simply need a gesture of his hand or a thought in his mind. He did everything else and enhancements. Kinda think bleach. You don't need to say anything to do kido, but you say an incantation to make it more powerful.

True, but since then they've been rigging the game to give people extra weapons, linguistic advantages, and not making sure that dead people stay dead. The original rules are clearly out the window.

If it weren't for the "non-attacking post" disclaimer, a reader would probably assume that Keravnos had simply respawned and was fighting on as usual. Although the tagging game going on in the background is the driving force behind the RP, I'd still like the story itself to make sense. If you forget the tags for a moment and read it as a regular story RP, you'd probably ask questions like what's one of the demons doing back in the game after dying three times, and why aren't the gods exerting control over them. My last post, though partly for comic relief, was designed to address this because the only logical explanation is that one or more of the gods is letting it happen. And it's reasonable to assume that the other gods who are supporting (well, more like betting on) the other players are not going to take kindly to it. The translations and the holy water, though amicably agreed and resolved OOC, were also yet to be explained in-story; since they fitted the same sort of pattern of "covert game-rigging", I threw them in.

If cheating is already going on, then perhaps the gods will bend the rules a bit more. Of course, their first thought for a response to Shrk'Jaar's challenge will probably be "ha ha ha...no" and to blow him out of his boots with a lightning bolt, but maybe instead they'll be amused (or just annoyed enough with each other to let their chosen fighters live as a form of "screw you" to their rivals). Some sort of climactic fight would be nice. Maybe even a showdown against the previous champion? I'd like to hear Sam's decision on what will happen next.

Yeah, trolololing aside, the two of you are dead. Having Keravanos reappear to taunt Huntsman was fair enough because it was just conversation and threats, but when she starts attacking the players who managed to retain their lives the integrity of the story begins to stagnate. You've had your fun teaming up on other characters to get them out, but now you've had a taste of your own medicine. Your characters are now out, so either keep them somewhere where they won't interfere, like on the roof with a bucket of popcorn to share, or send them away altogether.

The problem is that we're essentially at a moral impasse. None of us want to start killing each other because our characters (and by extension, we) have been on the same side for some time now, so abandoning that in favour of turning on each other is understandably something neither of us are comfortable with. We've been riding under the same flag for ridding the game of the demon characters because they've been eliminating everyone else in the same fashion, and now that we're the only ones left it would seem reasonable to try to get the lot of us out of the predicament.

It also seems like a huge anticlimax, really. I know that this is a roleplay, and that the scale of our issue is diminutive relative to other, much more important ones, and I assume there's a pride issue in there somewhere, but we really don't want to turn on each other. It's also very hard to justify in character as well.

Azazeal has had an idea of a final battle that presents a challenge to the remaining contestants while allowing them to keep their alliance. That way, we aren't taking the easy way out, and if more than one winner is produced, then your list of champions gains more members.

If this were a one time concept what you just said may be perfectly fine but it's the second of a continous project. It's too early into the concept for there to be outside elements which force a change in the rules.

Maybe five death matches from now but even then I'll msot likely change the name becuase it wont be a deathmatch RP.

Mainly because it's a part of the definition of the RP. A match to the death. I knew there would be alliances. It makes sense that thee would be alliances, I personally dont encourage them but they are allowed becuase I know for the fact that at some point the alliance will either desolve or break down into smaller alliances, hence building an element of intruige, strategy and excitement.

The purpose of alliances being allowed is that you create them knowing they are going to fall apart. It's what gives other players a chance.

In a nutshell it's completely and utterly unfair to everyone who you've all knocked out if the rules and the format of the game turns half way through.

The idea Az said is a great one as a side plot. A side game that you guys can create after the main one ends.

But for this game there can only be one. One champ.

As for an anticlimax. Seems pretty climatic and awesome that after all your fun killing poeple off and winning awards you now have to start killing each other. I almost feel like I should be thanking you guys for adding to the drama.

For the record, we didn't single out anyone with the disadvantage of being alone. While the alliance was in effect, we targeted Alice and Phoenix, who had already teamed up and were the ones who attacked single players. While Jac did attack your character, you got rid of him straight away. Apart from your character and ours, they were the only active characters on the field. There was that Wired fellow, but I didn't even know he was a player until Alice fragged him.

If we look at the IC, you'll note that the only targets of Seras and Shrk'jaar's tags were Team Demon. Huntsman joining the two just sort of naturally evolved out of the story, and everyone else had long-since ceased to post. So the only victims were another alliance. As a side note, if Epostle was still playing then IC they'd likely have invited Sear to join as well, since they saw him attack the demons.

When Jac originally PM'd me about an alliance I did indeed say that I was just out to bring back a level playing field by removing the other team and didn't mind if he immediately fragged me afterwards (i.e. we had no intention of bullying other single players once Team Demon was gone - we were fully aware that this was unfair). But since then everyone except Team Demon dropped out, so once the stated objective of killing the demons was done we were left with the situation of our alliance being the last people standing.

How to justify it though? Possibly I'm taking this too seriously, but even though this is a game-mechanic based RP I still want the "story" of the IC to make sense and be readable. Hey, the main reason I signed up to this RP was not for the competition but for the freedom to come up with a series of interesting fight scenes.

From an IC perspective, how do we justify guys who have just said "If there's going to be betrayal here, it won't start with me" suddenly going back to killing each other? The gods snap their fingers in a massive Deus (Diabolus?) Ex Machina and wipe all their memories? I think that's what DP is getting at when he's talking about a sense of anticlimax.

Since DP mentioned it, I suppose I'd better elaborate on the Champion option: the main objectives were to not generate extra work for you, and to keep things relatively neutral between the remaining players. As such I was thinking of introducing a beefed-up champion, say 20/9/1 - 9 tags but all part of one life for smooth flow of the IC - that would attack one random person per day (doesn't RPA have a random number generator?) without being subject to the "2 posts between tags" rule. This is to counter the advantage that 3 posters would otherwise have against 1. To make sure it didn't look like any one of us was "controlling" the champion I'd probably just post the target of the day in the OOC and let everybody incorporate it into their IC posts as they saw fit.

As to who the gods' champion might be, it could be an avatar of one of them, a random badass, or we could ask Merry for permission to use Calliope (a cameo by the previous winner would be awesome).

A side note that I forgot to mention, this could bring about a new motivation for the next Deadmatch, what with the gods feeling cheated. Starting an alliance that you know will fail is just like stepping into a submarine that you know will sink.

I feel like my post has led you guys on the wrong idea. And I appologuise for that.

The main point I was trying to get across is that there can only be one. One winner. (And yes Potato that's why I allow alliances to happen because I know they are all going to fail. That's the point of allowing them. The more interesting question would be how could one start an alliance in a Role play where there would only be one survivor and not realise it's going to fail.)

The idea of the Gods feeling cheated is a good one only again this is only the second deathmatch. Like I said before that is too early. In the third or fourth Deathmatch that would be epic.

Yes Az you're absolutely right this is not entirely about the gaming system. The gaming system is almost like gravity. It doesn't define your life but it's a part of it and you can't avoid it. the one thing I try hard to get out is that this is still a roleplay but every roleplay has rules, this one has one more than all the others, one BIG rule. Lol That only one makes it out in the end.

I tried the cameo by the previous winner it's pointless. Merry G is busy.

The champion idea appears flawed in the idea that if the chapion was beefed up too high then the champion instantly wins and the rest of the battle has no element of competion, which is perfectly fine but should be done as a spin off. After the main RP is done.
Same goes for if the champions tag count is too low.
If it's 50/50 then it's a question of who posts first then thats it. Same thing again


I actually think in order to keep flow of the plot follwing Az's idea of memory wipes is an awesome solution. Wiping out evey one's memories and tricking them into a fake restart seems like a great idea is everyone fine with htis?

Yeah but I didn't include them because I figured you have enough attacks to finish without them. But if you run out of attacks then VM me and I'll give you Rex's attacks. Shit I'll hand everyone their attacks.

But yes, putting the character and the story first is the ultimate mark of a good roleplayer - such as having a character make decisions that the player knows is wrong, but produces a more exciting story, or (as in this case) staying true to the character's core personality even if it's to their ultimate detriment.
