Sami pulled into the parking deck in her silver 20-something Camaro. It had been a labor of love: her parents and older brother, a mechanic, had fixed it up and given it to her as a graduation present. It ran very well and actually looked pretty good! Sami was actually very nervous driving it, but she couldn't take any kind of mass transit to the hospital and it would break her family's collective heart if she didn't use the car. She navigated slowly and carefully into an open spot, one with no cars on either side!
She checked her appearance in the mirror on the back of the sun-blocker...thing. Her long blonde hair was pulled safely out of her face into a simple ponytail. She wore very little make up. She stepped out of her car, wearing cute and sensible flats and an above-the-knee, modest, print, sleeveless dress which she'd gotten on clearance. Fortunately, she would be wearing a lab coat, so, after today, it didn't really matter what she wore. However, today she and the other new employees were to meet with the director and the other employees, so she had to look good. The hospital had received extra funding from the state, so a few employees had been hired at the same time. Grabbing her "briefcase", which was basically a big purse which she'd gotten on clearance, she walked out of the parking garage and into the building.
As she entered the building, she felt...something. She looked around, a little unsure. It felt like she should be seeing more people than she was actually seeing. A nurse approached her, smiling, and asked her if she was looking for the director's office. Sami shook off the feeling and smiled her large smile, thanking the woman and, after introducing herself, saying that she was indeed looking for the director's office. The woman directed her.
****
Liam was also stationed in the area outside of the parking garage. He wasn't the only one. Many of the ghosts were curious about the new arrivals. The ghosts had already seen the files of the new hires, of course! Two had already arrived: a stern woman who was surely one of the new doctors and a guy who was nerdy-enough looking to be the new IT hire. When Sami entered, there was a somewhat collective stir amongst the ghosts. She was not only beautiful, but there was something else about her. Something beyond the rest of the humans who worked here these days. The older ghosts were reminded of the pure, good Christian nurses from the old days. The nurses who could actually see them.
Liam felt very drawn to this woman. He wanted to reach forward and run his fingers through her long, thick, and smooth ponytail. However, he knew that it would only make her uncomfortable. So he had to work really hard to squelch his urge. He chuckled, "If I were a few decades younger...and, you know, alive..." Several of the ghosts chuckled.

This morning felt like a rush, Jason had always hated new beginnings, but hopefully this was the last one in a long time. He had gotten the call only a week ago, stating he would have a job and that there was a large group starting today. He threw on a decent gray suit and purple tie, but had realized half way to his new job that he had forgotten to iron his shirt, and had forgotten to shave. His hair was a mess, but he liked it that way, hopefully his resume overlooked his appearance. When he finally got to the building he circled the building three times before realized where the parking lot was where he pulled in a spot. He stepped out of his blue Ford truck and took a deep breath. Brushing himself off, he gave himself a once in the reflection of his window, running his fingers through his hair, wondering when he needed a hair cut again. He blinked and felt as if he was being watched and he turned quickly to look around but no one was there. He shrugged it off, and closed the door to his car.
It accidently slammed, and he griminced hoping that his day wasn't going to be as bad as his morning was. A quick glance at his watch and realized he was running late and only had two minutes until he was supposed to be there. Jason took of in a mid sprint, until he almost ran into a woman, "Hi, um...the director's office?", she pointed him in the right direction and he took of in a mid sprint again, hoping he didn't look too bad.
-----
Cora was inside the waiting area, there were three kids there waiting for visitation with their family member. They were playing with some toys and Cora was smiling while watching them play, always wishing she could play with them, or hug them. A short breeze passed by her that caught her interest and it was a young man who rushed in, asking for the director's office. Raising a brow, she took one last glimpse at the children and followed him slowly to where he was rushing to. She had a weird feeling about him, but she couldn't place her finger on it.

The rest of the employees were gathered at the director's office. Sami had been chatting stern-looking female doctor, who was looking much less stern-looking while in eager conversation about the inner workings of the damaged brain with Sami. Several others had joined in on the conversation. Everyone looked up as the disheveled Jason blew into the room. All assumed he'd been hired for some low-level position. No self-respecting doctor would show up in such a mess. Well, outside of academia, anyway. Sami pitied the man for his poor first impression. She knew that it took a long time for people to get over a bad first impression. However, like the others, she also thought he had been hired for a lower-level position. A disheveled medical doctor would never command the respect of his patients! The director settled them all down and then welcomed them. The meeting was brief. Next would be a tour of the hospital.
***
Liam and many of the other ghosts had also followed the last arrival to the director's office. Many greeted Cora and waved at the children. The children smiled and waved back. Children were still pure enough to see them, so it was always a pleasure when children were around. Liam, however, was fixated on Sami. He listened to the conversation in the office. He didn't understand...well...any of it...all he could tell was that it had something to do with the brain and brain damage. He had picked up a few things at the hospital about the brain and how physical damage to the brain causes these mental disorders. He watched as Sami spoke with enthusiasm about the topic. He had long ago grown accustomed to seeing female doctors and well-educated females. He was actually quite happy with this development. Others he was less happy about.

Jason gave an apologetic smile to the director as he came in, pushing off the looks that everyone else had given him. He was used to getting looks, whether it was because of his lack of caring, or because once he had proven that he was smarter than he looked. Jason ran his fingers through his hair and scribbled down what the director was saying in his notebook. He wrote down everything in his notebook, then later transferred it the computer to keep it neat and tidy.
As they turned to go out the door for the tour he drew a small little map to keep track of where everything was located. After the tour was finished they ended in the employee break room, "And this concludes the tour. Does anyone have any questions before we go around and introduce ourselves?"
-----
Cora followed throughout the tour, finding it interesting about what things had changed to since she was working there before. They made a lot of new sections and she couldn't really ask someone what the were now. A few of the other ghosts had followed them to in order to see what was going on, but some of them were getting bored and walking away as the conversations went on. Cora saw that the one man was taking a lot of notes, and wondered what they were about, she walked over towards him and tried to look at his notes.

Throughout the tour, Sami couldn't shake the increasing feeling that someone was behind her and watching her, interested in her. It was like she was at a bar and some man was checking her out, ready to pounce the moment she separated from her friends. She could swear she even caught a whiff of alcohol every now and again, which was probably triggering the bar reference. The effects of scent on memory and thought are fascinating! The slightest smell from childhood will bring back a flood of childhood memories that one could otherwise not recall. The feeling of being followed disappeared as Sami thought about scent and the brain, while also attending to the tour.
They reached the break room. That last bit was said more for Jason's benefit. Everyone else, who had arrived early, had already introduced themselves to each other. Trying not to look especially at Jason and trying to look as if they hadn't already done so, the others again introduced themselves, stating much of the same things they had already said to each other in the office. Sami said, "My name is Dr. Samantha McPherson. I received my doctorate in pharmacy from X University. I specialized in neuropharmacology."
***
Liam also followed the tour group, keeping somewhat close to Sami. The new parts of the hospital were no surprise to him, since he'd been at the hospital since his death. He had heard the plans being discussed and had watched each one being built. It was the standard tour given to newcomers. Liam didn't usually bother following around, but he felt drawn to Sami.
Liam sniggered at the introduction bit and the reactions of the others. The disheveled guy just couldn't catch a break. Well, it was his own fault for rushing in at the last minute looking so harried and disheveled.

Jason had written down the names and small description of each individual who spoke and when it was his turn he cleared his throat, "My turn? Oh, well, um...I'm Dr. Jason Fillion, I have my doctorate in psychology and psychiatry graduated from Stevenson University."
He heard a few people start to mutter but ignored it, the director nodded knowingly, not surprised at everyone's reactions. Jason remembered their conversation where she had given him a disapproving look when they had first met and he had handed her his resume letting it do the talking. That was one thing Jason was always bad at, appearances. It was just easier to let his work to do the talking for him, then he was at talking. That's what was great about his field, he didn't have to impress anyone with his looks, and a lot of his clients actually felt more comfortable talking to him because he wasn't always dressed up to impress.
---------
When Cora heard the man say he was a doctor she raised an eyebrow in surprise while the others muttered. He did not look like any type of doctor from when she worked, they were all well poised, properly dressed and groomed, but there was something about him that she liked. He seemed smart, and knowledgeable. The man seemed to pay attention to details, while other doctors she had met were stuck in their own little world. Dr. Fillion was different, and it wasn't just his lack of professionalism, there was something else.

Sami watched Jason write everything down. She wondered if he were OCD. Taking notes about the tour made some sense, but writing down everyone's name and description was borderline OCD behavior. Sami had picked it all up and stored the information away during the previous conversation. Like the others, she was also surprised that this man was a medical doctor. He was more like those academic doctors, like philosophers and research psychologists. His sloppy appearance smacked of affectation. She figured he showed up looking more professional to his interview. He was technically dressed according to the appearance standards of the hospital, but the wrinkled shirt and scruffy beard were pushing it. She glanced at the female doctor, their eyes communicating, "If a woman had shown up like that, she would have been judged MUCH more harshly." Not that Sami would ever show up looking so disheveled. She had too much appreciation for this opportunity to disrespect her employers, coworkers, and patients by showing up looking sloppy. Sami lightly shrugged. It was a double standard and they had simply had to live with it. They would have to give this guy more concessions than they, as female doctors, would ever receive. They would have to smile at him as a fellow colleague.
The person who had given the tour had pretty much expected that reaction. He concluded by asking if they had any questions. He then told them they would have some time to themselves to go over the information they would need to start out their first day. The doctors would look over the case studies of the patients whom they would be taking over. The IT guy left to meet with the few other IT employees. Sami would be looking over the specific medications prescribed at the hospital. They were told they could go wherever they pleased. The doctors elected to go to their offices. Sami also had an office, but she wanted to first have some coffee. She had had a hard time sleeping the night before due to her excitement, so she needed a brain stimulant! She also rather liked the cozy break room. She obtained permission to stay there and make coffee while looking over her information. It was, of course, granted. The room began to clear out as Sami put the coffee on and put her lunch in the refrigerator. Thinking everyone had left, Sami began humming. Sami always hummed, but this time it was in part to shake that "someone staring at me in a bar" feeling that had creeped up on her again.
***
Liam sniggered again. He said to one of the other ghosts, "So, this is one of those guys who thinks he's so smart that he doesn't have to worry about his appearance!" He'd seen some of those types. They were generally the research psychologists who came here to do some kind of research on patients. Some looked as if they simply spent all of their time working and drinking and doing drugs and therefore didn't remember their appearance. Others appeared to be looking weird on purpose!
Liam watched as the room began to clear out. The ghosts also left, except for Cora, who appeared to have an interest in the disheveled doctor. Well, she liked children, so it made sense. Liam leaned on the counter near to Sami while she was making coffee and putting away her lunch. He enjoyed watching the graceful movements of her hands as she performed her actions. Her humming only added to her adorableness.

Not haven slept well the night before, Jason patiently waited behind the girl that called her self Dr. McPherason, "Do people really have nothing better to do then talk gossip about others? You would think someone had walked into the room in their birthday suit.", he chuckled to himself.
Jason knew that the women would talk gossip, but he got a slight different vibe from Dr. McPearson, granted he could be completely wrong and just be digging his own grave. He honestly didn't care what people thought, he just liked to make people think.
----
Turning around Cora realized that only she and Liam were still there, "People sure have changed...it's so interesting though to see how different people are now though, isn't it?"

Sami jumped about a mile when Jason spoke up. She turned around, blushing, her hand on her chest. She thought she'd been alone. She had been caught by a new coworker humming! She said, "Oh my gosh, I didn't realize anyone else was in here!" She giggled at her own fright. She shrugged and said, "I didn't hear anyone gossiping." She couldn't very well lecture this man on proper appearance and respect and gender-based double standards. It would likely fall on deaf ears. She therefore abruptly changed the topic. She said, "I noticed when looking through the patient files last night that many of them are on medication for seeing people who aren't there. Is that normal?" Sami cocked her head curiously. This was her first job outside of school and she had interned at a regular hospital, so she didn't feel qualified to say what was normal and what was not normal at a mental hospital.
***
Liam said, "I rather like it." He took a sip of his whiskey. "I never thought it was right that clever women were locked away in their houses while foolish men ran the world. My mother was devilishly clever. Many said the Great War, excuse me, World War I, never would have happened if she'd had any power!" Liam was careful to try and speak the same way the people currently spoke. He did not want to be stuck in the past like many of the other ghosts. What was the point of this apparent eternal existence if one did not somehow actively engage in this world?

Jason noted when she changed the subject, wondering if she was one of the girls that were gossiping, but he decided against saying anything to her about it. When she mentioned the medication he scratched his head while thinking for a moment, "There was a study that out of thirteen thousand people 39% reported to have seen hallucinations, about 3% of those were caused by drugs, but this was over the course of three countries. It sounds strange that there would too many causes in one set location.", he read through pages in his mind to try to remember any more facts, "Unless perhaps they are caused by the drug they are taking, which is more likely."
He chuckled softly, "Or, if you believed my grandmother, they could be ghosts."
-----
Coras eyebrow raised when she heard them talking about hallucinations, and Dr. Jason Fillion suggested ghosts, could it be that he believed in them? Then he heard him laugh and she wrinkled her nose and walked up to him touching his shoulder, "You should believe."
-----
Jason suddenly shivered, why did he suddenly feel colder.

[Before the meeting, they were introducing themselves to each other. He's been with them ever since; there was no gossip. ;) ]
Sami shook her head. She said, "They wouldn't be on the medication if they weren't seeing things in the first place." She wrinkled her nose and said, "Do you smell whiskey? I keep smelling whiskey." She giggled and said, "Some doctors smoke, so I suppose a doctor imbibing whiskey wouldn't be all that odd." Honestly, the doctor in front of her looked like he had a few too many the night before. Whether or not he actually had had a bit too many was beside the point. The coffee finished brewing. Sami turned around and poured the coffee into her travel mug. She stepped aside to let Jason pour himself a cup.
***
Liam rolled his eyes, saying, "Stop with the children's storybook nonsense. All you'll do is make him cold." Then Sami spoke about smelling whiskey. He chuckled and said, "Well, this one seems less blind than the others, anyway!" For a lark, he waved the whiskey under Sami's nose, causing Sami to wrinkle her nose again. He laughed again and pulled the whiskey away, taking another sip. He gestured towards Jason and said, "It's funny because that one looks like one of those doctors who drinks too much!"

[Opps, I didn't mean 'gossiping' I was thinking about the looks people gave, and in my head imagined people talking amongst themselves (in the meeting) when he got there. I guess gossiping would have been talking behind his back. Sorry about the mishap! ]
He realized what she said, "Good point, I guess they just have a large number of hallucinating patients, I would have to do further research and meet with the patients prior to coming to a conclusion, maybe see if there are any similarities. I can let you know what I find if I do come up with anything."
When she asked about Whiskey he sniffed the air and shook his head, "I don't really smell anything. I honestly don't know what whiskey smells like though, I don't drink.", he stated with a shrug. Jason knew what the affects of alcohol had on people and actually had never had an alcoholic beverage due to seeing what can happen by drinking it. He disliked giving up control and being able to remember everything that happened so he frowned upon it as well. The only problem that this had ever provided was that he didn't know how to relate to alcoholics and some of them refused to see him as a therapist due to that fact. Pouring himself a cup of coffee, black, he took two gulps before looking back at the woman in the room, and smiled holding up the cup of coffee as if giving a toast, "To the first day of work."
---
Cora shook her head at Liam, "You're just as bad as the rest of the lot, you're going to start rumors around that this poor man is an alcoholic if you keep this up."
When Jason said he didn't drink she blinked, "Though I must say I am shocked about that."

[*giggles* Yeah, no one has had a chance to talk behind his back. Besides, I wouldn't think someone who is so sensitive about gossip would take more care with his appearance. ;) ]
Liam perched on the counter behind Sami and said, "I didn't say he was a drunk. I said he looks like he drinks." Liam gestured towards his own disheveled appearance, which was slightly worse than Jason's, but only because he wasn't in a suit.
***
Sami had to stop herself from making a face. Even someone who doesn't drink knows what alcohol smells like. Jason was clearly bragging. A man who shows up to work dressed like that has no cause to go all holier-than-thou about alcohol. Everyone in Sami's family drank, but none were alcoholics. Alcohol was so common in her house that Sami didn't see it as something evil or wrong; it was just another something that people could do socially or enjoy on their own. Sami said, somewhat frostily, "No? I enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, myself." She raised her glass and toasted half-heartedly. His appearance and snobbishness about alcohol had combined to make Sami think that this was not a man whom she really wanted to get to know.
***
Liam chuckled and said, "This sweet one seemed ready to be friendly, but he just put the nail in his coffin!" He raised his flask of whiskey in toast. He took a sip. Sami leaned back on the counter, practically in Liam's lap. Liam chuckled and said, "Careful, sweetheart!" Her ponytail was swinging temptingly in his face. He wanted to touch it, but he knew that his hand would just pass through and that Sami would feel a chill. Suddenly, his hand was on her ponytail. He had enough whiskey that day that his judgment was overridden! Suddenly, his hand was on her ponytail...not going through. He could feel her soft hair. His eyes went wide and he almost dropped his whiskey as he jerked his hand away.
***
Sami felt something really cold at the back of her head. Then she felt warmth spreading through her, like she'd just taken a shot of strong whiskey. She then felt something in her ponytail. She jumped about a mile and turned around. Her eyes went wide and she took a step back. Oh no! A patient had gotten out! Even worse, he had gotten into some doctor's whiskey stash! How did she not notice him creeping up behind her. How had Jason not noticed him?! She put up her hands and smiled a bright smile that generally put patients at their ease. This one looked pretty shocked, like he'd just noticed that two people were in the room. He also wasn't wearing the standard patient clothing. Perhaps he'd gotten access to his old clothing?
She said, "Hello, there! My name is Sami. What is your name?" He didn't seem violent, but one never knew with a mental patient! Liam stood up, still in shock and stepped close to Sami. Sami held her ground, not wanting to show fear. Liam said, "You can see me?" Sami smiled and said, "Of course I can!" Liam raised the flask to take a drink. Sami said, "Ah...can I have that?" Liam smiled and said, "You can have whatever of mine you want, love!" Sami said, "Thank you!" and took the flask. Great, a mental patient was hitting on her. Isn't that nice? She then noticed Cora. She smiled at Cora and said, "Oh! I see you have a friend!" Why wasn't Jason doing anything?! Liam said, "Something like that." He leaned in closer to Sami, the same whiskey smell almost overwhelming her. He said, "I should warn you about something." Sami kept her smile plastered on her face as her heart raced in fear. She said, "Oh, what is that?" Liam gestured towards Jason and said, "He can't see me." Sami nodded and said, "Oh!" Liam continued, "So, right now, he thinks you should be a patient here and not an employer." Sami's heart stopped racing in fear as she smiled genuinely now at Liam. He was harmless and seemed actually quite sweet. She looked at Jason and said, "Does he now?"

[ Pssh he's not sensitive, he finds it amusing how people's minds work. He just doesn't know what to shut up is all. : ) Just FYI, I know this won't change the opinion of your character, but I wasn't trying to make him sound holier than though. : ( I hope he isn't coming off too douche-baggy. ]
Jason sipped his coffee as he suddenly saw Sami jump and turn around. He raised an eyebrow, assuming maybe there was a bug on her shoulder, or something along those lines. When she started to talk to herself though that was when he took his drink away from his lips. Crossing his arms he watched her, as she talking to the wall. When she looked over to her left his eyes followed hers to another empty area, where Sami stated there was a friend. He scratched his head and took a step closer, "Dr. McPherason, may I ask who you're talking to?"
----
Cora took a step back when she realized that the woman in front of her could see her, it was the first employee able to see any of them, usually only children and those adults that let there walls go down that saw them and could speak to them. When she heard the other doctor ask who she was talking to she realized that Liam was right, and that Jason still couldn't see them. She was disappointed, he seemed like an interesting person to talk to.

[Yeah, it was kind of unnatural for him to say he doesn't drink at that point, so it did sound a bit douchey! Plus, the whole internal tirade about him "frowning upon it" made it seem like he was being all judgey.]
Sami's smile widened and she winked at Jason. He was playing along! She didn't think doctors ordinarily played along with patient delusions, but, in this case, that was probably the best way to get Liam to go back to his room. She said to Liam, "Oh dear, you seem to be right!" She reached her hand out to him and said, "Since I am the only one who can see you, how about I escort you back to your room?" Liam took her hand and tucked into his arm, as if escorting her. He said, "Darling, I would love for you to escort me back to my room, but I don't have one." Sami said, "Oh! Because invisible people don't get rooms?" Liam said, "Something like that. Except I'm a ghost." Sami said, "Well, then, we'll just have to find someone to give you a room!"
Liam narrowed his eyes, his thick brain finally putting it all together. He said, "You don't believe me." Sami said, "Of course I believe you!" Sami, fixated on Liam, didn't notice the other ghosts who began appearing in the room. Word had spread of the unusual pairing and they came to see. Liam said, "I'm a ghost, watch." He raised his hand in front of Jason. Sami moved to stop him, wondering why Jason wasn't reacting. Then, Liam swiped his hand straight through Jason's chest. Sami's smile melted into a face of shock and horror. She dropped Liam's flask, brought her hands to her mouth and sort of squealed. She then noticed the others in the room. She said, "Are they?" Liam said, "Yep!" Sami said, "I think I need..." Liam opened up his jacket, to reveal the flask, which had reappeared back into his jacket, saying, "A drink?" Sami looked at the flask and looked at the floor. She fainted. Liam caught her. Jason would notice that she seemed to fall to the ground a bit unnaturally slow and that her body didn't seem to just drop in the normal way; it rather twisted so that she landed safely on her side. Liam brushed her hair out of her face. To Jason, it would look as if some weird breeze had moved her hair, despite the fact that there was no breeze in the room! Liam looked up and said, "Do any of you lady ghosts have smelling salts?"

[Sorry for the delay, last two days have been horrible at work.... Sorry about that. Still getting used to writing again, I haven't really thought about how it would look. Heh. Other than those few mistakes am I doing okay?]
When she started to talk more to herself, and winked at Jason he could have sworn she lost her mind. He was about to go get someone for help, wondering if she was a patient that escaped and snuck in the group of people until he saw her look go into horror and pass out. All logic and physic went out the door as he saw her flat to the ground. Frowning he he rushed to the door, "Can I get a nurse in here please?"
When he was back at her side he shook her slightly, "Sami?"

Cora frowned, "Look what you did Liam, you made the girl go and faint. Well, at least we know she can see us now, and evidently touch us. That was strange."

[You've been fine! :) I'm sorry work has been so awful for you! Oh, I was thinking it would be more fun if the people who can see ghosts can also physically interact with them. :) Is that okay?]
One of the ghosts stepped forward with a vial of smelling salts. She had been a proper lady back in her day, and so had died with the smelling salts on her. Liam thanked her for the vial and said, "I didn't mean to. But she wasn't believing me. The longer she kept talking, the crazier that close-minded one was going to think she was! Although, it may already be too late." He glared at James and waved the bottle under Sami's nose. He gently stroked her hair. She was actually the first human with whom he had bonded. He felt fiercely protective of her.
Sami returned to consciousness with a start. She wrinkled at her nose at the strong smell of salts, which Liam quickly removed. She first saw Liam, who was kneeling closer to her head. She said, "Oh god..." She then felt James' touch. She glanced at James. Oh no. He must think she's crazy. He must, as Liam said, think she belonged in the hospital as a patient and not as a doctor. Was she actually crazy? But she'd never seen a ghost before. Normally, people saw just one person and it progressed. She was looking at a whole room full of ghosts. More had entered the room since she fainted. All were looking at her with concern and curiosity. The lady with the smelling salts was frantically fanning her. Sami could feel the breeze from the fan. These must therefore be ghosts. Sami had always sort of believed in such things as fairies and unicorns, and she certainly believed in nature spirits, so ghosts weren't too far-fetched for her. However, she had to somehow save face in front of Jason. She sat up slowly, holding her head. She said, "I'm fine, just a little weak. I think it was those sleeping pills I took last night." Certain sleeping pills were known to cause erratic behavior. Hopefully James would buy this excuse. She was fairly certain the most people with PhD's didn't believe in ghosts, even if they were spiritual.

[That's perfectly fine if they interact. When would you like Jason to see the ghosts? Or does it matter?]
When she woke up he heard her say something about medication, though it was unlikely there were some side effects of hallucinations due to medications. He shrugged and offered a hand up off the floor, "I called a nurse, they should probably look you over before you go back to work."
With in a few moments there was a nurse in the room, checking Sami's pulse, and basic vitals. Everything cleared and she smiled sweetly at them both, "Good thing this man was here, right?", the nurse assuming Jason had helped her through everything. Jason started to say something about how he didn't do anything but he wasn't really sure how to explain that she slowly floated to the ground instead of falling without making himself look like a nut job.*
Glancing at his watch he smiled at Sami, "We should probably get back to work. Do you need any help or are you going to be okay?"

[He can see the ghosts whenever you want him to see the ghosts! :)]
Sami smiled at the nurse and thanked her. She also didn't say a word about how Jason hadn't actually been much of a help. She glanced at Liam. She had the vague memory that he had caught her. She also knew that he was the one who had brought her back to consciousness. Honestly, Sami would have been perfectly fine if Jason hadn't been here. Which meant she didn't really owe this slovenly man a thing. Of course, now everyone would be buzzing about how this slovenly man had saved a beautiful damsel in distress. And she, who had been professional, punctual, and properly-attired, would be the one who took a sleeping pill, went crazy, and passed out. Great.
She felt a bit light-headed, which was to be expected after just passing out. Sami said, "I'll be fine, thank you." Her new ghost friends could take care of her after all... She carefully sat up on the couch. The lady ghost said, "The poor dear needs some water." Liam said, "Well, we can't very well get her water until this jerk leaves!" The lady looked at Jason and said, "Oh, right." Jason probably would be put off seeing a cup of water floating across the room. Sami tried really hard not to look from one ghost to another, as if she were following the conversation. Jason seems to have bought the sleeping pill excuse, which was good. Some sleeping pills caused erratic behavior.

'The poor dear needs some water' Jason had heard. He turned around and frowned, seeing that the nurse was already gone, who said that? He shook his head knowing it was a good idea whomever said it, "You need some water. I'll get you some."
He walked over to the vending machine and got a bottle of water to bring back to her, opening it and placing it on the table just in case she was light headed, "Here you go. If you need any more help don't hesitate to ask. I'll give you a few minutes to rest."
Heading towards the door he could have sworn her heard someone say, 'Finally', but it was a man's voice. He turned around and frowned again before walking out the door. He headed back towards the directors office to ask where his office was located at, he wasn't sure if he should say something about Sami fainting, he was sure she could do it on her own, and he didn't want anything to spread about how he saved the day even though he hadn't.*
The director told him where his office was, and as he walked in he sat at his empty desk and looked at the blank walls, today was already a long day.
---------
Watching Jason as he left she caught him stopping twice when one of the ghosts had talked, could he hear them? What are the likelihood of two people being able to hear and see people in the new training group. Knowing*that everyone else had this under control, so she wanted to go check on Jason, too many people were trying to talk at once, and the poor girl was probably going to soon be bombarded with questions. She followed him to the directors office then to his new office. She stood in the door way, "Can you hear me Dr. Fillion?"
----------
"Yes. Why would--", he opened his eyes and saw that his office was empty, "Great...now I'm hearing things. Maybe it's the stress."
"It's not stress.", Cora said sweetly.
Jason turned towards the voice, but was only greeted by emptiness, "Who's there? Is this a hazing? Am I being hazed?"
Cora laughed softly and walked over to the couch, "I'm not hazing you, besides you wouldn't believe me if I told you who I was."
Groaning he rubbed the bridge of his nose, not wanting to play games, "I'm not in the mood for games, I have work to do."
Frowning Cora stopped talking, knowing he wasn't going to believe her just yet. She left to go back

A ghost closed the door to the lounge. Sami took a sip of water. It helped a little. She finally spoke, "So, you are all ghosts?" Many nodded. Sami took another sip of water, glancing at the ceiling as some things fell into place in her head. She said, "So that is why so many patients are on medication for seeing things that aren't there." She looked at the ghosts, "They are seeing you!" Liam smiled and draped an arm around Sami, saying, "That's my clever girl!" Sami said, "How come I didn't see you when I first got here?" Liam smiled a proud and boastful smile, saying, "You have to bond with one of us first. Then you can see all of us." Sami turned to him, her face first confused and then understanding and then somewhat horrified as she took in Liam's appearance. He smelled of whiskey, his clothes were sloppy, his hair was a mess, and he had stubble. He only looked slightly worse than Jason! Liam smiled back at her and made an excited noise as he sort of pressed her against him in a half hug. Sami said, "What does it mean to be bonded?" Liam said, "It means that we can feel each other. Know when the other is happy or sad. When we need one another. Know where the other is. That kind of stuff." The lady ghost said, "He's really quite nice, despite..." She gestured towards Liam, indicating his appearance.

Cora went back to the other room attempting to get Liam's attention. When she saw that it was pointless to wave to him she went behind him and tapped his shoulder, "I have more good news.", she drew his attention away from Sami, "Or...interesting news."
She whispered in his ear, "Jason can hear me. He think it's a...haze? I don't know what a haze is though."
----
Jason sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, not in the mood for the hazing. Not in the mood for the childish games of this company. He really hopes this isn't how it's going to be on a daily basis.

Liam grabbed Cora in a playful big-brother type hold, ruffling her hair and saying, "Don't sneak up on an old soldier!" He laughed and released Cora. Sami also giggled. Her brothers still did stuff like that to her. Liam smiled at Sami and began playing with her hair, fascinated that he could actually touch her. She was beautiful and she was sane. Perhaps this was repayment for his bad luck in life. Good luck in his afterlife!
Sami, not understanding how Cora was using the word, said, "He thinks he's in a haze?" Sami crossed her arms, thinking. Maybe she should tell Jason. She said out loud, "Although I can't very well go to his office and tell him he's hearing ghosts and, oh, by the way, I can actually see the ghosts. So can the patients." She made a noise of slight frustration and leaned her head back. She jerked it back up when it landed on Liam's arm. This was just too weird. She reached a finger up and touched Liam's cheek. It was solid and cool to the touch. She could even feel the stubble. She looked at Cora and said, "What do you think we should do?"

Frowning as Liam messed up her hair, she fixed it quickly, and brushed off her dress, "I'm honestly not sure. I tried to speak to him, but he wanted nothing to do with it. Perhaps he is stressed and unable to open his mind to us."
She cross her arms over her chest and sighed, "Perhaps if I talk to him enough he will one day be able to see me, or perhaps if we meet him outside at a place he will know there are not other people? The farthest we can go is to the parking garage, last I checked."
Turning to Sami an Liam, "Do you two have any ideas?"

Sami said, "I have no ideas. That's why I asked you." Liam chuckled. He could sense Sami's conflicting emotions which were starting to make her frustrated. On the one hand, Sami was excited to see ghosts. She'd always known there was something beyond what humans could sense. On the other hand, this was her job and it was in a mental hospital to boot. It was a risky prospect. It would be bad if anyone else caught her talking to a ghost. Liam said, "Contact is necessary. Maybe every ghost who isn't bonded should touch him. As soon as the ghost to whom he is supposed to bond touches him, he should be able to see that ghost if he's open in any way." Sami giggled, imagining Jason's office full of ghosts, freezing the man to death with their touches. Sami stood up and said, "Shall we take a trip to his office, then?"

Word go around the break room quickly that they were going over to the crazy dressed doctor's office to see if he could see one of them. Most of them followed Cora to the office, and she slipped in quietly, standing by his desk. His head was buried into a file, as he jotted down notes. Jason was writing down questions that he was going to ask the patient when he first met them to make sure he understood exactly how to handle them, or handle the situation. He also had some questions about their medications that he would want to change around. He wasn't sure how well that would go over though with the company.
As the ghosts filled into the office he started to hear whispering and he frowned looking up from his notebooks. He wondered where the whispering was coming from, Cora noticed his attention change and motioned for everyone to quiet down. Jason brushed it off as people passing by his office and went back to his books. Cora motioned for the ghosts to one by one touch Jason so that they could see if they were the one he was attached too. After a few Jason shivered off the cold chill, wondering why the temperature had suddenly dropped in the room. After a bunch of people touched Jason on the shoulder Cora reached out and placed her hand on his shoulder, and she felt her hand sit there, instead of move through him like it was supposed to. Cora gasped, and Jason turned to face her.
As he felt someone's hand on his shoulder he turned to face the person, and jumped out of his chair, his heart racing. He placed his hand on his chest, "Gah! You scared me...", he ran his other hand through his hair and shook his head, was he that involved in his files that he didn't hear someone come in and walked up to his desk, "I must have been absorbed in my fi-", his voice trailed off as he looked around his office and saw a bunch of other people in his office as well. How absorbed was he? Did the entire ward walk into his office?, "Um...can...someone please tell me what's going on?"

Sami had intended on leading the way to Jason's office, but had felt dizzy upon standing up so quickly. She sat down again. The room emptied out, leaving just her and Liam. They looked at each other. Sami wondered why she had gotten the disheveled drunk. Surely he was a better fit for Jason. Liam smiled at her, sensing her wonder, although not knowing what she was wondering about. Sami sighed. Well, Liam seemed like a nice guy, so there was no sense in making him feel bad about himself. She stood up slowly, saying, "Let's go. We need to contain this, make sure Jason doesn't make a scene." Liam said, "Okey-dokey!" and sprang up. He put a protective arm around Sami's waste. Sami giggled. It was sweet, but she had to pretend as if she wasn't walking with the "assistance" of a tipsy man.
She encountered people in the halls who asked how she was. Fortunately, no one knew why Sami had collapsed, they just knew she had collapsed. She smiled at the well-wishers and assured them that she was well. Fortunately, people forgave her the occasional stumbles, attributing it to the fact that she was still a bit faint. In reality, Liam was the one stumbling. She finally found Jason's office. She knocked on the open door, smiling at Jason. She attempted to stand as if she weren't being "supported" by a tipsy man, just in case Jason couldn't see ghosts yet. Liam smiled at Jason, taking a sip of his whiskey. He said to the room in general, "Can he see us, yet?"
