Warning! Incredibly Depressing Hypothetical Situations Alert! Do not read past this point if you do not want to be exposed to an incredibly depressing hypothetical situation that I have posed that will make you wonder what is wrong with me.

By the time we saw it, it was too late. A big, fast moving planet-killer meteor struck central Mongolia at midnight, precisely. It was noon on the East Coast. As ancient air raid sirens wailed to life around the world, every human on the Earth blacked out - and vanished.

You wake up in a white room, still wearing the same clothes, where a strangely accented voice tells you that you are on board a ship of the Monocken (Moh-nok-ken). The meteor that smashed into the Earth was sent by one of their own race and they were unable to stop it. Severe ecological damage has taken place that will take decades if not centuries to recover.
As the voice speaks, pictures are displayed on the wall, showing you the devastation that has swept the Earth. Pictures devoid of people.
The voice tells you that the Monocken were able to save humanity by bringing you aboard their ships as the devastation started spreading around your world.
The voice pauses, then says it will give you time to yourself to recover.
After an hour where the walls totally ignored your screaming and beating of fists on them, the voice returns.
Five Earth years have passed for you in suspended animation while the Monocken debated what to do with humanity until they could return your race to Earth. After consulting with your leaders, it was decided to bring humanity to a nearby Earth-like planet whose inhabitants had destroyed themselves may years before in war.
To help you survive in this new world, you have been given specialized medical implants to help keep your bodies healthy and any medical defects have been repaired. Diabetics don't have to worry about checking their blood sugar or insulin shots, missing body parts have been regrown, diseases halted, vision/hearing problems fixed and the paralyzed can walk again.
However, the Monocken will hold onto young children until it is agreed that the humans have settled into their new environment.
Services on the planet will be limited during the initial resettlement to basic necessities in the various relocation camps (shelter, food, water, basic sanitation, medical services). Everyone also gets a smart phone modified by the Monocken to let you to call anyone on the planet and access basic information. This smart phone will also act as your id and credit card.
Also, to help you adjust, the Monocken will replicate almost anything that was commercially available on Earth; however you are limited to 200 pounds (90.7 kg) of personal items.

Rules:
All characters must be approved before you can post.
I expect 2-3 posts from everyone at least twice a week. People who stop posting will lose their characters.
Semi-consensual role play, which means minor harmless interaction can take place between characters without express approval. Anything above a handshake/peck on the cheek may be considered god-modding and get you thrown from the game.
Any violent interaction should be talked out first and approved on the ooc board.
NO god-modding.
NO special forces/secret service/super spook characters. They all got sent to Camp 1. You can be ex-military but your job has to be something else, like a cop or private detective.
You can play up to two characters.

Hie'ra Sul (Monocken male) Camp Manager. Like most Monocken he's big but friendly. Relocation specialist. Has learned English, Spanish reasonably well, can also speak Vaeter-ra and Dvergar Grk. Typically wears a blue jacket and kilt with rubber-soled sandles.
Kne'pi Joce (Monocken male) Assistant manager. Tall and slender, looks more like furless manx cat than a bear. Speaks halting English and a few words of Vaeter-ra, preferring to use a translator, a sphere that overs over his left shoulder.
Dela (Vaeter female) Supplies clerk. She can speak some English and Monocken, fluent in Dvergar Grk. Comes off as disinterested.
Twide and Twadu (Dvergar) Mechanics. Maintains the older machines provided by the Monocken. Speak good Vaeter, broken Monocken and English. Twide often calls Twadu "brother".

Monocken
Blue-ish gray aliens, humanoid, looking like furless bears in pants and tunics/jackets. Most of the Monocken will be wearing spacer whites, ground crew green or bureaucratic blue.
Vaeter
Approximately five foot tall, very human except for their pointed ears, they look like Elves. They're also refugees and share this world with humans, work reluctantly with the Monocken.
Dvergar
Short, stocky bearded humaniods, the tallest might make 4 foot in height and hate being called dwarves. They live in comfortable caves they've carved out of mountains and hills. Seldom work with Monocken. Another group of refugees from another world long ago saved by the Monocken.

As you decide on your personal gear, it'll appear in the room with you. When you're done, you'll be teleported directly from the room to the camp teleport pad next to the first building, the camp office.

It depends on the kind of crazy you are. If you've had some brain damage, well, not much they can do about that. If you're mostly normal when receiving drugs, the implants will give you the medicine you need to balance out your chemistry.

Very interested in this! I have a question or two before I submit my sheet. I see a lot of personal gear being survival equipment and tents and that. Does the refugee camp have shelters for people or are they to set up their own accomodation? Will we have jobs/money given to us (of course if this is part of the story then feel free to ignore me XD)?

There's shelters and basic supplies at the camp, so tents aren't really needed but it's easy to understand why some brought them, thinking they might need one. You're suppose to be building a human town, so there will be jobs. Money's not so important (what would you spend it on?) but eventually you'd be paid.

Personal History: Ethan was saved by the Manoken on the night he murdered his parents and his siblings. He had been driven mad by the way they lived their lives in poverty, not wanting to improve their livelyhood at all. Ethan considered the Manoken intervention as a godsend and is very loyal to them for giving him a new life and trying to save humanity, but whenever Ethan looks upon his fellow man he is overcome by rage. A budding serial killer, Ethan believes that anyone not trying to improve there lives is a waste of space and resources and its up tio him to end there lives.

Character Name: Ethan Marlow

Description: Ethan has shoulder length blonde hair, he is in his early twenties and has a youthful, skinny appearance. Ethan wheres ragged, tattered, and torn clothes that make him look like he has been through quite a life. His eyes are different colors due to a small defect but they work just the same as regular eyes, the left is bright green and the right is brown.
Personal History: Ethan is a cold calculating serial killer often inserting himself into a community under the guise of the least likely person to commit such a heinous act. He gets a thrill out of it each time. Ethan thrives off letting those around him get to know him and trusting him, the more they trust him the more excited he gets. Ethan, however doesn't kill children and often see's himself in them which rubs Ethan the wrong way all to frequently as killing someone close to them would harm them in one way or another.
The reason for this odd exception to this sick habit stems from Ethans childhood when he was protected by his sister from their abusive parents. Who Ethan eventually murdered when his sister was forced to leave the house after their parents kicked her out. Later, Ethan was accuited of the crime because of his early age and the the jury's pity due to his abusive parents. When Ethans sister found out she unexpectedly ran from him seeing him as some sort of monster. Ethan could be considered a vigilante often because those he murders are abusers and childkillers but his methods are brutal and twisted, torture is a something that Ethan resorts to frequently.
After the Manokens intervention in the desrtuction of earth Ethan was already in a distraught state of mind. He had found out several hours before the end of earth that his sister had killed herself. Without someone to remind him of his origins and why he does what he does Ethan broke down. Ethan could be called somewhat normal now that he has lost his inspiration, But who knows if it will show itself again.... Ethan has a natural suspicion of the Manokens and does not see how they profit from devoted a huge amount of resources to save a dying species.

I mean no criticism, but why is it so important to have a serial killer as a character? You have effectively removed all chances of lone-wolfing, and thus a use for a serial killer, yet you still have the serial killer as an element.

why can't i have one is the question that should be askedIt's the question I've been debating since you posted your character is if the Monocken would let you down there. It doesn't look good if the humans are killing each other. Serial killers running around killing everybody really belong in the Mature forum, and I like keeping this out here in the General forum, where it's mostly pg-13. I've got no problem with anyone questioning the Monocken's motives however.
I just realized something. Shouldn't this be in the Sci-fi section, rather than general?It could be but I like it here.
Question: Can a character have a not so legal job?As long as it's not too violent. I have final approval. If you were say a smuggler or counterfeiter or an ex-con, that could work.

Right now it's the beginning. A few people being hit with the strangest news they've ever had and winding up on the surface of an alien world far away from anything they've known. They're starting to come together.
