View Full Version : The Fountain-Blade Inn (OOC thread)
10-31-2010, 11:34 AM
Inspired by fictional locations such as Roanpur and The Yellow Flag (from Black Lagoon), the Fairy Tail guild headquarters (from Fairy Tail), and various fantasy-based Castle/Town settings such as Fortuna and it's castle from Devil May Cry.
The IC thread: The Fountain-Blade Inn. (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?p=373801#post373801)
The world is a big place. Hundreds of countries, islands, continents, nations; populated by thousands of races, millions of people and creatures. In a world so great, there are villains and heroes in all areas of life, who stand out from the common crowd due to a fantastical act. You're one of these, perhaps?
Maybe you're a Politician, a King, Queen, Prince, or Princess. Maybe a Warrior, a Magician, an Archer? Perhaps a Hero who lead a revolution to victory, or an Overlord commanding an army of Demons? Perhaps you were invited for one of those very reasons... Or perhaps you merely stumbled across the location; a traveller exploring an unknown country, looking for a way through.
Each of these people have one thing in common: The Fountain-Blade Inn.
This Inn, which is more a Castle than a Tavern, sits in a nest of white-peaked mountains; the only entrance to which is a gap to the south filled with an enchanting forest; protected further still by a mighty river with only one Bridge to cross.
The Inn was founded hundreds of years ago, as growing corruption in Politics and a growing warfare rate between nations meant the world needed a safe-haven. A place for all those involved in wider affairs of the world, whether Good, Evil, Angel, Demon, Hero, Villain, Human or Beast, to sort out their problems and have their political and social meetings in a completely neutral country, protected by an army of fierce Grey Knights.
Much goes on among the common visitors and occupiers of this Castle. Romance, Fighting, shady Back-room politics, and evil beings focused on using the gathering place to aid them in efforts of world domination. It's all here, in The Fountain-Blade Inn.
And let me tell you something...
It gets crazy.
The Fountain-Blade Inn takes the form of a large Castle made from beautifully white stone, yet the architecture can seem a little "gothic". It sits in a small bowl in the mountains, at one end of which is the Fortress itself, comprising of;
- A main hall, which holds no thrones. It is merely a medieval-renaissance era, high-class Tavern. Decorated perfectly (it's unfortunate the room often gets destroyed), and staffed by Bartenders of all races and genders, each with a story to tell.
- An east AND west corridor, each branching off from the main hall in their respective directions. At the far end are stairs, which lead to a second floor. The corridor's themselves are lined with doors, leading to an assortment of back rooms, such as kitchens, storage chambers, even armouries.
- A second floor, comprising mostly of guest-rooms, with a large meeting hall in the centre.
- A roof, which is accessed via stairs on the second floor. It offers a beautiful view of the surrounding area.
- To the north end of the bar, behind a large portrait of a past King, lies a secret chamber... With stairs leading down into the depth of the Castle foundations...
Extending either side of the main Castle, to wind around a small-city sized Military encampment, are walls. They are manned by the Grey Knights, several thousand of which protect The Fountain-Blade Inn. Entrance to the area is via an open gate, behind which a stone-cobble main road extends all the way to the doors of the Inn itself. Either side of this road lives the completely neutral army.
Structure and rules of the RP.
This RolePlay is pretty casual. The main setting, the Fountain-Blade Inn, is a central hub for all your characters to meet up and socialise, fight, fall in love, return to after saving/conquering the world, and ultimately DEVELOP. I hope, from what I wrote earlier, you can see the location has the potential to be constantly interesting, if we all work together to make it so. ;)
The structure itself is simple. It's a sandbox RolePlay, which likes quality over quantity. You can make your own stories, your own destiny... Or just sit, chat and drink until an EVENT comes along.
Events will be GM co-ordinated.. Uhh.. Events, that are to spice things up again when things start to calm down. The main point of which will be to get a constant, free-flowing, never-ending storyline going.
As for the Rules. Well... All Roleplay Adventures rules must be followed, to the letter. But aside from that, feel free to do what you want. Your characters can be anything or anyone, let your imagination run wild. However, try to make them rational and fair. They will need to be approved, so I can weed out people who may misuse Powerful characters, and such.
I should note, though, that IC actions which have the potential to affect many characters, and have a reasonably large impact on the IC world, should be discussed on this OOC Page! As I said, try to be fair in what you do; causing arguments and complaints ruin the fun for everyone.
For post size... Try to write at least 8-10 lines. Quality is more important than quantity, however.

Welkynds are a humanoid race, and other than a few cosmetic features the two races are almost identical. Welkynd males have tribal designs up and down their bodies, each design different from the next. These designs were burned into their skin at an early age once they have joined the military. Over thousands of years, the Wlkynd people have developed advanced adrenal glands, allowing much more potent and more quantities of adrenaline into their system.
Corynthias is your typical Welkynd, standing at 6'0" tall, with whispy dirty-blond hair and tanned skin. His muscles are well-developed from years of military training, and various scars adorn his body. The patterns of his skin are ice blue, identical to his eyes color. The patterns are swirling. giving the affect that a vine grows across his skin, originating from the small of his back, spreading outwards across his body much like a vine. The extent of the designs reach to the back of both hands, and up the right side of his neck and jaw before encircling his right eye.
Corynthias is quick and calculating, confident in his decisions, and has been granted the ability to find a choice in a seemingly impossible situation. To others, he is stern and forceful, but never to the point of cruelty. He is a gentleman, and he has a profound respect for women of all ages and races. One would be lucky to befriend the man, for he is a solid companion should anyone ever need it.
~At The Inn~
Coarse woven shirt, dark leather pants, leather belt with brass buckle, muddy boots, crude iron dagger kept under the belt visibly.
Ebony armor emroidered with silver patterns, silver horse-hair helmet, full-body rectangular shield with Welkynd Legion symbol, ebony shortword, Emporer's Entourage.
Welkynd Isle is a country long since forgotten by the races of the rest of the world. The terrain varies from place to place, the soil is rich and perfect for planting, and the Kindstop mountain at the Isle's center is pitch black from the ammounts of ebony ore. Through their isolation, the original settlers of this land were able to flourish and live prosperously for many generations. However, human nature would ensure that peace did not last for long in this land. Soon, a great civil war erupted on unknown terms. For the hundreds of years that followed, the land had been ravaged by a never ending war of the tribes. Over those many years, the culture became a savage and barbaric custom of war and death.
It was during this time that Corynthias was born, heir to the throne of his father, who ruled over one of the land's more predominant tribes. The years in which Corynthias grew up were filled with military training and tutoring from his father on how to rule. at the age of 12, Corynthias was given command of 2000 Welkynfaustus, or warriors from the age of 14-16. Instead of campaigning immediately, which is characteristic of most young generals, Corynthias spent many years training a new breed of warriors. These new warriors he called the Welkynd Legion.
It wasn't until Corynthias was 16 that he first campaigned against another tribe with his Welkynd Legion. Using his new battle formation, Corynthias annhialated a much larger army than his own. As Corynthias campaigned against the tribes, his own father admired his own son's brilliance so much that he immediately recalled the whole of his own army to be retrained. With the revolutionary battle strategy in use, Corynthias and his father managed to conquer every tribe that opposed their own, and for the first time in hundreds of years, Welkynd Isle fell under one banner.
Shortly after their stunning success, Corynthias's father was crowned Emporer over all of Welkynd Isle. The Emporer's first decree was to send Corynthias and a force of 7000 soldiers on a voyage to find a new land and conquer it. After many months of sea voyage, the fleet finally arrived on dry land, after disembarking at the mouth of a river. Here, the Welkynd Legion built a walled city to protect the docks and the soldiers garrisoned there.
Corynthias sent spies out into the land, including himself, to learn about the people and armies of this new land. Now, Corynthias is in the guise of a simple farmer taking a break from the humdrum life of the fields in favor of a more lively atmosphere in the Fountain-Blade Inn.
The Welkynd Legion
To truely understand how the Welkynd Legion functions, one must first understand the soldier. Welkynd warriors are fearless individuals, for over centuries of war has hardened the warriors against any type of intimidation, even the threat of their own lives. However, do not mistake bravery for stupidity, a Welkynd soldier is forever loyal to their general, to the point where they'd disown their own mother if they were ordered to.
Training begins for the healthy male once their first word passes their lips. From there, they are taken to a military nursing school where they are conditioned with 2000 other infants that would later form a small army under the rule of one general. This seemingly barbaric training is designed to stimulate brotherhood between the soldier's comrades at an early age.
At the age of 10 they may return to their families and live freely with them, however they are required to attend a military training school every day for 8 hours. Here they learn basic tactics, basic fighting techniques, and go through a rigorous training program designed to strengthen the body and mind.
When the young soldier turns 14, they become a Welkynfaustus, and they are now ready for true battle. The army of young warriors is commanded by a general of around their own age, who falls under the command of another higher ranking general. Typically, this army is used as reserves, should they be needed. During a battle, they are commonly used as spear throwers, used to guard the flanks, and to guard the generals and wounded as the battle rages.
At 16, the soldier graduates with their comrades and they are now considered to be true soldiers of the Welkynd people. Being a soldier has it's benefits, while on a campaign, the soldier is entitled to three carefully portioned and diet regulated meals a day. Also, should a new Emporer be needed, the soldier may cast a vote on wether or not the successor should be given rule or not. The military provides the soldier with full body armor, weapons, a personalized travel kit, winter provisions, and the ability to send 1 letter a week.
Should the soldier survive until the age of 45, then they will have the ability to retire in luxury and fame. Should they not, then they will be buried ceremoniously in their homeland in the military crypts under the Kingstop mountains. The crypts are large caverns carved under the earth, each with a marble statue of a general at it's front, with the stone coffins arranged in formation, the name of the fallen soldier engraved in each one, their tribal tattoos decorating the outside of the coffin. An ancient code is also engraved on the coffins "Nos mos ago ut a miles militis , pugna ut a miles militis , quod intereo ut a miles militis."
The single infantryman in the Welkynd Legion is trained to use many types of weapons, and more specifically, trained to use them well. However, the infantryman is specialized in only three weapons. These include the heavy atlatl, pike and shield combination, and shortsword and shield combination.
Every infantryman is issued a full body suit of ebony armor, which is extremely resistant to the elements and parallels the strongest steel in the land. However, the material is very cumbersome, and it requires almost superhuman strength to be able to utilize the armor properly.
Each soldier is also equipped with a full-bodied rectangular shield, made out of ebony, with a wooden core for flexibility and to reduce the weight significantly.
Currently, the infantry force stationed at Welkynlundat (Or the colony of Welkynd) is approximately 10,200, under the command of 5 individual generals, who are all under the supreme command of Corynthias Victor. Each general takes command of 2,000 soldiers, including Corynthias, who is in command of the First Welkynd Legion.

We'll be waiting for several more people before starting, however. I was hoping for a minimum of 3-5 players.
10-31-2010, 07:43 PM
Sounds good, I'll be expanding more when I come up with more ideas, so let me know if you suddenly see something you don't approve of.
11-01-2010, 05:09 PM
This is a cool idea, I was wondering if I could make a character that is actually a bartender that works at the Inn?
11-01-2010, 07:22 PM
Feel free. =)
Ranks were never something I considered, but any you can think of are more than welcome.
11-01-2010, 09:55 PM
I think I may join this RP. I just need to create a character.
11-01-2010, 10:45 PM
11-01-2010, 11:57 PM
The more the merrier! As of yet, I haven't even begin to think of a character idea. Although I do have many, somewhat unused characters, on other sites and on my Word. I may use one of those. =o

Here's my CS, I hope this is okay :)
Appearance: 5'7", dark hair that sits just past her shoulders. Brown friendly eyes and a welcoming smile. Of average build and always wears a silver chain with a few personal charms on it.
Personality: Lily has always been a personable character, that is why the job as a bartender suits her so well. She's welcoming and accepting of others so the other races that frequent the Inn don't phase her.
Weapons/Items: A wash cloth? Haha
Skills/Abilities: Lily is an excellent listener and often finds herself as the shoulder at the Fountain-Blade Inn but she doesn't mind that. It makes her feel more at home when she is helping someone out, be that a friend or stranger.
History: She's been working at the Fountain-Blade Inn for three years, having tending bars and tables in the past. She came across the amazing world of Fountain-Blade by chance, it was recommended to her as a job by a mysterious stranger. It was a surprise to meet all the differnet races and after the initial shock Lily settled nicely within the Inn, enjoying her new job and life.
Other: Though she is there to support the other occupants of the Fountain-Blade Inn she isn't quick to share her personal life with just anyone.

This is only the second character sheet I've ever made, so it may very well be turned down.
Name: Olive Finch
Appearance: Roughly 5'4", of slight build. Olive is very beautiful, with her long auburn hair and bright green eyes.
Personality: Olive has a bright, sunny personality. She has a sparkling wit and is able to make almost anyone laugh. She is self-reliant, and does things alone when at all possible. She also has a fiery temper. If someone gets her angry, they won't be happy with the consequences.
Worn right now:
Green tunic (being worn)
Stockings (being worn)
Shoes (being worn)
Shawl (being worn)
Swordbreaker (a kind of parrying dagger) (being worn) (hidden)
Rapier (in room)
Extra clothes (in room)
Skills/Abilities: Olive is extremely agile and fast-moving. She can react and respond to events much faster than an average human. This makes her an excellent duelist. She can react to an opponent's attack as it happens, and move quickly to respond.
History: Olive was born into aristocracy. Her father was a wealthy merchant. He gave Olive most things she wanted, buying her an expensive rapier and parrying dagger set, and hiring an excellent tutor to show her how to use them. She has always been a bit of a tomboy and, when her parents tried to force her into a marriage, she left to fence professionally. She made a considerable fortune fencing and retired to a room in the Fountain-Blade Inn.
11-02-2010, 05:39 PM
Name: Isaac Redso
Personality: isaac is a quiet man of obviously few words. He has a certain fondness of alchohol and women however.
Skills/Abilities: Armor protection, Battle Roar, Knightly Aura, Minor healing, Swordmanship
History: Isaac was born in the middle kingdoms. (Around where the equator is.) Being born a noble, Isaac was destined to become a knight from the start. He was trained at the earliest age. When his trainign was completed, he was knight Isaac Redso the Sheild and sent off to gain glory for his family.
Other: Thats all
11-02-2010, 10:01 PM
Both of those are fine. Remember, this isn't a RolePlay which takes itself too seriously; unless things go in that direction in character. =P
I'll probably put he IC up later tonight or tomorrow, but I'm not yet sure on my own character. I could well just stick to several NPC roles.
11-03-2010, 12:08 AM
OMG TEH KITTEH!!!
Olive has a kitten. She's green because she can be. She follows Olive around everywhere. Her name's Ophelia (my real cat's name).
11-03-2010, 03:44 AM
Hehe. Right, I think I'll start on an IC thread. It won't be a long post (if I can help it, I can get seriously carried away sometimes), as in such a social RolePlay, posting a page seems a little silly.
11-03-2010, 05:34 AM
By the way, I know I'm messing up a lot of fencing rules, and parrying daggers aren't allowed, the swords would not be sharpened, etc., but I don't care.
11-03-2010, 09:42 AM
Not at all. Rules are made to be broken. After all, this is a fantasy world. =)
Also, I'm trying to figure out how to get a "time" system going, so we can keep track of things easier. Feel free to throw in suggestions =o
11-03-2010, 10:02 AM
I wish I had a suggestion to help but I'm coming up totally blank.
I also wanted to say that I really liked your introduction post, Nevan. It was very good!
11-03-2010, 10:43 AM
Thank you, artistique. =)
So far, I've liked all posts. They're around the appropriate size I would have liked, and the use of English is good. =P
11-03-2010, 04:43 PM
How exactly does one do dialogue?
11-04-2010, 04:51 AM
I'm not exactly sure if there's more to the question than there seems, but using dialogue is really no more complicated than writing what your character says between these: " "
An example being;
Nevan walked up to Admiral_Pancake and said, "hi!"
11-04-2010, 02:25 PM
I meant, do we write long monologues, or how do we do it? It can't be writing posts where a character says one thing. I'll write a sample.
John said "Hi!"
Bob said "Hi!"
John said "The game!"
That can't be right. I think each character would say a monologue and the other would respond.
11-04-2010, 02:35 PM
What exactly do you mean write long monologues? For each post?
How else would are characters converse if not taking turns with dialogue?
11-04-2010, 04:55 PM
That's generally how it is done, Admiral. Which is why on most RP posts you'll find people try to put more than one line of speech, or put speech that advances the point a little more. =o
I'm not sure how else to say it, but it follows that A, B, A ,B pattern. Posts primarily about speaking are often shorter, and posts that advance the plot in some way longer. But, what could be a good idea is a mutual agreement between all those involved in the IC conversation, which allows them to "hold" the conversation, but instead of each posting separately, they merge the entire conversation into one, co-authored post.
That's unlikely to happen, though. And I'm not sure if it would work, either. -shrugs-
11-04-2010, 05:15 PM
Let's try it. Got a gmail,artistique-meg? We could use the chat.
11-04-2010, 11:57 PM
Name: Ivisis "Ivi" Deveroux
Age: Appears 22
Appearance: Although generally only the size of a grown man's pinky, Fae are known to come in all different shapes and sizes due to the ability of transformation, which can make them grow tall enough to be mistaken for beautiful humans. Many use this as a way to trick or tease the mortals by pretending to be small children or elderly.
Ivisis can grow all the way up to the size of a young woman but prefers to remain a little on the short side of 5 foot. When in her smaller forms, a pair of silver wings extend from her shoulder blades allowing her flight, but disappear after she gets so tall.
She has medium length dark brown hair and green eyes. Her skin is slightly tanned with very few freckles dusting her skin. For the most part she enjoys wearing what would be considered gypsy clothing - layers of clothing, long flowing skirts, lots of small trinkets and jewelry, as well as a nice flute that hangs from a sash around her waist.
Personality: Generally optimistic, she is weary to trust just anyone, but is often very loyal. Of course, becoming close to her can be a feat all in its own. Ivi is known for her proud and vain attitude, and enjoys playing a few games with the people around her. If you learn to put up with one side though, you'll soon discover a very compassionate person with a big heart.
Weapons/Items: Ivi's weapons of choice are magic, any array of poison, and her own wit. Magic of course being her number one skill, if she had to choose another weapon it would probably be two twin blades. Other than that, she tends to keep many potions, herbs, and aliments with her in case of emergency. Sometimes even a needle and thread. For the most part, this faerie packs light.
Skills/Abilities: Ivisis is very fast. Nimble and very difficult to hit if ever in a fight with her. Her quick tongue and gift for communication makes her quite the manipulator, bargainer, and the person you want with you if you ever need to talk yourself out of in a tight situation. Other than that she is a skilled magic user and can change her height almost instantly. On the downfall, she isn't very physically strong and lacks a lot in close combat.
History: Born in a small faerie colony within a lush forest, Ivisis grew up learning all kinds of things - Magic, arts, and herbalism; she is the typical faerie, if not a bit odd for enjoying the company of humans too much. For the most part, things were going well until she decided to go off to travel on her own. Always a bit of an adventurer, Ivi can never stay in one place too long, although if she grows fond of someone or something, she is obliged or willing to stay for a while more.
Moving from town to town, and residing in the strangest of places, she loves telling stories and singing songs about her experiences. One would call her quite the bard or entertainer. Being more eccentric in her actions, she seems to always have something interesting to say and that has helped her make a good amount of friends over the years. Whether or not they were the best of people is another story...
Other: Ivisis loves to dance and sing and can be captivating when she does. She also enjoys any new trinket that catches her eyes. Sometimes she can't resist letting her fingers stray and she ends up with a new item. For the most part she collects odd little things from people (usually without their knowledge) for mementos. She cherishes each of these very much and counts them all as a precious memory. In other words, if she steals from you, you have made an impression on her that she doesn't want to forget.
11-05-2010, 02:51 AM
Let's try it. Got a gmail,artistique-meg? We could use the chat.
I do! firstname.lastname@example.org :)
Nevan, just a suggestion but you could perhaps play an NPC as another bartender? Just so everyone gets some interaction?
11-05-2010, 04:31 AM
Accepted, Classic. =D
And artistique, I can consider playing another member of staff, but not a Bartender. Bartenders are generally very sociable, and it's possible I won't be willing, or have the time to post often with one. =o
If I do, it will be one who spends more time "off screen" than on it. =P
But yes, I plan on posting again later today.
11-05-2010, 09:47 AM
Awesome. I'll probably reread the IC and post later today. :D
11-07-2010, 05:20 PM
I read about fencing on Wikipedia and watched some videos on Youtube, and I've changed my mind. Olive uses the Sabre, just because matches with it look so awesome. It's like a rapier, except it also has sharpened edges and is a lighter weapon. She is an expert with the Foil and Epťe, of course, but Sabre is her speciality. She keeps all three in her room, and carries a Swordbreaker (which is not used in real fencing, but is in this universe), around with her.
11-08-2010, 08:39 AM
Sorry about not replying both ICly and OOCly for a while. =/
I have a busy college schedule, as well as family etc.
But yeah, you guys can feel free to carry on posting. Before I start anything, I'd like all of your characters to get to know each other, and such.
I'm thinking about bringing in something I've been working on, either the first or second evening in IC time.
Until then, feel free to cause some mischief. =P
If something happens that escalates into something larger, I may post as some NPCs a little earlier than planned. +P
Name: Xexelia (Za-zel-yah) Quillo
Race/Info: Vilion (Vie-leon)
A vilion is the product of a halfling and a troll mating. Many are disfigured and grotesque, usually killed or left in the wilderness to die. On rare occasions the child will have a decent appearance and shall either be accepted into a halfling clan or troll tribe, though they are always considered they lowest of lows.
A slender tail the same color as the Villionís skin reaches a length of three feet with a tuff of curly black hair at its end. The nails on her fingers and toed are naturally black and behind her lips are two sets of sharp canine like insisor teeth; this all hinting towards her troll heritage. She stands at four foot ten inches and weighs close to seventy-eight pounds.
Personality: To most everyone knows Xelli are a haughty and rambunctious female that works hard and loves life to its fullest.
Weapons/Items: A single dagger kept (carefully) within her bosom.
Occupation: Laundress/Seamstress for the Fountain-Blade Inn
Skills/Abilities: Despite her skill with lye, dye and needles Xelli has pin-point accuracy with her throwing dagger and can sing the best bard out of the room.
History: Xexeliaís mother was a high ranking member of the Tallfellow halfling clan, named Linwe. One early morning she decided to go alone into the Yelkin woods to have the best chance of picking the fattest ripest berries for her ill father. With good intentions Linwe dressed and quickly left out the safe confines of her clanís boarders. It was not a hour later, the sun barely shining its glorious face over the horizon with a basket half full of an assortment of berries when she was clubbed in the head.
When Linwe was found, the fruits of her labor scattered around the scene, she was stripped of her clothing and bleeding from her between her thighs, and large scratches along her back and hips. Once at the village the medicine man inspected her and announced she was deflowered and with child.
Seven months later Xexelia was born into the world on a cold stormy eve. At Linweís first sight of her daughter she screamed in fright and immediately vomited with the idea of a troll touching her body those many months ago within the forest. ďTake her away from me! I never wish to see her again.Ē And they complied, taking the green vilion to the only place that she might have a chance at a decent life. Where people from all walks of life are welcome: The Fountain Blade Inn.
For the first twenty years of her adolescent Xelli was almost hidden completely by all the staff from any visitors or quest, fearing discrimination. There werenít many that would tolerate a creature such as her in an establishment.
It wasnít until one night when a intoxicated group of humans began to argue and then fight, ultimately tearing down a tapestry in the brawl. Had it been any other dosser on the wall, Xexlia would of not of given a care in the world. But it was something of her own creation, a mural of the valley her motherís kith hailed from. It had meant an enormous amount to the vilion, so much to that she requested itís showing within the cafť. Upon the news of its ruining the small golden-eyed female marched up a flight of stairs that she was never allow to climb and waltz straight to the fighting pair and proceeded to pull their hair, bite their ears, fingers, and wherever else she could take her rage out on.
From that night and henceforth Xelli never veiled her self again and has become a notable figure within the castle walls of the Foutain Blade Inn.
Hope y'all are ready for this green 'lil spit-fire! Bwuhahah!
11-10-2010, 07:16 PM
Common' let's pick the posting up people! That Guy doesn't like waiting!
11-10-2010, 07:42 PM
Feel free to post, Roan. =P
Apologies once again, life is not only busy for me, but really sucky too =/
I know how you feel, Nevan. After getting home from work and needing to cook, clean, and bath I don't have (often) much energy physically or mentally to sit down 'front the computer and write something decent out.
So, I'll probably start writing a post but not post it until tomorrow 'til it's finished. Or, I might get a good pang of inspiration and get it done tonight.
11-11-2010, 01:55 AM
Pssst... Here's a hint: meet me dude!
11-11-2010, 02:28 AM
I'm don't want to post too frequently so everyone get's a chance. I think everyone needs to try and be more interactive, I'm doing my best but everyone is waiting to be 'served' >.>
11-11-2010, 05:41 AM
Race/Info: Angel (Arcane)
Appearance: Tall, dark, and handsome. Around 6' tall with a mess of brown hair that usually falls over his eyes, hiding them while never seeming to obscure his vision. His skin is a deep chestnut brown, suggesting he's spent significant amounts of time in a very sunny region, probably tropical. Should someone happen to glimpse his eyes, they are an intense shade of electric blue- complete and utter blue. No pupils, no whites, just blue orbs that emit a faint glow. He has pointed ears that end in a gentle taper towards the tip. Both ears are pierced at the upper part, towards the point, by tunnels composing of three titanium rings, each. Around the base of his neck is a thick black cord choker connected to a longer necklace bearing the pendant of a cross, inset with a single shimmering ruby. His entire body is covered in silvery-white arcane sigils that also emit their own glow, sometimes giving off the illusion he is actually divine. He speaks with what could today pass for a Russian accent, thick and rich but easily understandable.
Personality: Fenix tends to be the strong-silent type, until you get him talking. Then he gets witty, sarcastic, and a tad snippy. Best described as corrosive, borderline rude.
Weapons/Items: Apparently unarmed, but we all know looks can be deceiving. He carries no bag on him, only wearing the clothes on his back, which happen to be a tunic after the Ranger fashion, with a red hood and light leather armor. A couple of obscure sigils branded into the leather here and there, but nothing ostentatious or particularly bizarre. Fine brown leather boots to contrast the dark leggings he wears.
Skills/Abilities: An Arcane Angel, uncannily adept with magic of numerous types and forms, even knowing a couple of black magic spells.
History: Fenix is a traveler, like so many others in the realm. He was looking for a place to rest and get off his feet for awhile, and discovered the Fountain-Blade by accident (though he refuses to admit it, as he doesn't believe in accidents).
Other: Not really one for confrontation, but doesn't take crap from other people for a living. It takes a significant amount of patience to get to know him and befriend him; one can only imagine what it would be like to tolerate him for any amount of time.

Does our posting have strict order? Does anyone mind if I post now/next?
11-11-2010, 12:04 PM
I definitely don't. In fact, if you're addressing someone and they don't seem to want to reply, just move on, we don't want to have two people caught up in not posting.
11-11-2010, 12:13 PM
Okay, I'll just go for it then :)
11-11-2010, 06:34 PM
Also, I just realised I haven't updated the "accepted characters" part of the first post. I'll do that soon. Not now, but soon. Or later. heh.
11-13-2010, 02:41 PM
Let's post, new folks! We need more activity!
I LOST THE GAME!!!!!
11-13-2010, 08:58 PM
Just a note about my latest post:
I recommend any curious onlookers to begin some sort of amateur investigation. The signs are small, but they are there for anyone to pick up on. =P
Much like the first "meaningless and harmless" quest of many RPGs out there; this may or may not evolve into something much bigger. =D
11-13-2010, 10:20 PM
How long has there been a second page on IC?
11-13-2010, 11:04 PM
Race/Info: A genetically altered human
Personality: Kyreen is often quiet and shy until she gets to know someone. She often refrains from physical contact as much as possible due to her Empathy abilities brought on by the genetic alteration. Once she is comfortable around people however she is all smiles with a bubbly personality. She hates to fight physicall or verbally and if there has been a fight nearby she is automatically trying to sooth the rift between the two parties even if she was not in the room or nearby for the fight.
Weapons- Sharpened nails she can grow at will, fists and a dagger she carries at all times.
Clothes, shoes, books, back pack, flute.
Skills/Abilities: Empathy, the ability to sense emotions. She is strong enough to project emotions of her choice as well. This can calm or harm the person or people around her depending on her intentions. If she focuses enough she can even cause a halucination in her target.
She is also trained in close quarters combat with superior human strength, reflexes and speed.
She is also a quick learner and plays the flute or piano very well.
Kyreen is a biological weapon made by a human government. She was trained to fight and kill but also to observe with heightened senses. The government manipulated her brain chemistry as a child giving her the ability of Empathy, this however stopped her from being a suitable killer due to mental break downs brought on by experiencing an emotional death of her opponent nearly every time.
Despite the extensive training for killing and brainwashing brought on by the government Kyreen remaind very much human and inable to kill things out of cold blood or on command no matter what the threatened punishment was for failure.
Shortly after her 18th birthday the government scientists called her a failed subject and ordered her death. Kyreen however manipulated the guards into being unable to kill her and instead they beat her and left her to die outside in the wild. Since then she has wondered from place to place until coming across the Inn. She is often found entertaining a few people at the piano or somewhere else with her flute and King Cobra Subara.
Other: Kyreen has a snake she found in the wilds, it has protected her many times and it's name is Subara or Sub, it's an albino King Cobra.
11-14-2010, 12:43 PM
Accepted, Delicross, although I'd like for mature co-operation between players when her Empathy ability is put into use. =o
And Admiral; probably since you stopped paying attention. =p
11-14-2010, 12:46 PM
Hey, sorry guys, work has been full on and I have been too tired to post :(
11-14-2010, 01:25 PM
I am a total n00b. I was paying attention, checking for new posts every day, etc. Except I somehow missed the second page for several days now.
I have to post now.
11-15-2010, 01:17 AM
No worries, she won't be picking up on emotions that aren't there. ^___^ or projecting emotions that control.
11-15-2010, 01:03 PM
Nevan, I need to know if there's anything interesting in the kitchen before I continue.
11-15-2010, 07:45 PM
I just read over your bio Delicross... And I have to ask the question:
Government science experiments? Genetic alterations? Brain chemistry? That's a little advanced for the era of this RP to my understanding.
Honestly, it really doesn't matter to me how Kyleen got her unnatural abilities. I just thought it odd, for this setting, sorry about being nit-picky.
11-15-2010, 09:34 PM
I thought it was kind of strange myself..
but with magically imbued war-forged robot armies in dungeons and dragons, I'd say anything is possible.
Name: Ardul Hla'rret
Race/Info: Drow/Dark elf.
Like all of his ilk, Ardul sports the dark coloration of skin (greyish in hue) long white hair, and pointed ears. His hair, spanning freely over the back of his neck and nearly reaching his shoulders at the longest is often pulled back into a loose pony-tail, causing many strands to fall and form bangs around his fine facial features. Standing at the average height of 5'10'', Ardul is light and -like other drow- small framed. Though he may seem scrawny to many, his muscles are lean and compact, and exceptionaly toned. Many deep gashes from his dreaded matron's snake headed whip cut vivid scars along the length of his back, and his trainer's sword cut a scar just below his left eye. His casual attire would be dark sleeveless tunics and leather pants, but hardly does he stop in one place long enough for it to matter. His armor is hardened, studded leather reinforced in vital areas but free about his waist, as to not hinder his mobility. Living such a life as he does, he often has to hide his form from those less.. open-minded surface dwellers, pulling the cowl of his tattered cloak low about his face.
Personality: Ardul fights the inner termoil of his budding principles and those of his people, and often suffers prosecution based on his heritage, making him overly cautious at times. Other than the color of his skin, he hardly holds any of the same views of his ancient people, and fully despises any institution of Gods. Loth be damned! He is, at first, quiet and gaurded, a trait brought on by his terrible 'luck' but once the barriers are broken and he can call you friend, he is extremely loyal and caring. Quick to anger only if the reasons are just, he is usually overly calm which often makes him come by as cold.
Weapons/Items: Average clothing under his leather armor, an old and tattered cloak, two finely crafted short-swords that lay criss-crossed against his backside, an ancient vampiric dagger sheathed -and well hidden- in his left boot and a small pouch of what seems to be nothing more than dust and other assorted junk.
Skills/Abilities: Having been trained for nearly his whole life in the underdark, Ardul is not only a fine swordsman, but a budding apprentice to the ways of magic. Having sworn off his evil tainted race, his magical learnings ended leaving him with a menial grasp of the arcane world. His spells include: A burst of pure arcane magic, and the summoning of a ball of fire. Being drow, he has other innate magical abilites (Faerie fire, levitation and a globe of darkness) but at times on this surface world they faulter and fail. Stealth is one of his greatest allies, and if he wished it he could go about without making a single sound.
History: Many instantly view the drow, or dark elves as the souless, purely evil taint of a once proud colony of surface elves. They harbor no love for trees, wildlife or anything other than their dreaded spider queen, Loth. If anything , the realms of underdark are upturned and placed on their heads, men holding little use other than soldiers and mates for the mighty -and 'holy'- females of their race.
This was not the world Ardul wished to be a part of. It's not that he was completely outspoken about their evil ways, but the matriarc of drow society left him nothing more than a well trained slave. Never being able to surpass his female superiors, never there was an even slate for men and women in the eyes of Loth. If not a hate for his race, a hate for their God and any was born from his trying times within those deep corridors.
Like most, he was trained from the day he could walk, the only motivation for his childhood being the bite of whips and curses of his sisters and mother. Once of age, he was sworn off to train in the fighters academy, then when that time was done to the school of magic. One seasonless night Ardul had been wandering the twisting halls of his tutors tower, and soon found himself -tresspassing- in secret chambers. He found first a crystal ball, an ancient relic used for scrying, and peered deep within the magical orb. What he saw astonished him, for he was watching the lighthearted and graceful dance of his surface cousins. The dazzling display softened his heart; he had never seen such grace used souly for enjoyment, only on the battlefield was such display needed for drow. After that night Ardul often returned to scrying, but it was simply not enough to keep his interest satisfied.
He hit the books, reading any and all he could about the surface world, though most drow literature spread lies and propoganda about the dwellers there. There, deep within the libraries of the magical tower, he found an answer. An ancient scroll nearly fell into his lap, from where it came the young dark elf had no idea, but what was on it was extrordinary: a spell of teleportation!
Other: Sunlight burdens him more than any surface dweller could understand.

I'm just curious, but could we get some kind of character roster up (a post with links to everyone's profile post)?, because, I created a character a while ago and got accepted. The thing is, I haven't had a chance to post IC and now that I do, I can't keep up with who is who so I have to flip back and forth between the OOC pages. If we could just have it in one spot, that would be amazing. Hope that's not too much to ask for, I was just wondering if it was possible.
11-16-2010, 03:35 AM
Oh, I just read the introduction and I made up her bio as I went. Nevan didn't really specify an era or a time so I ran with it. I guess if I missed the over all mid evil theme or something I'm sorry. I can tweak it a bit though if it's a real problem for you.
11-16-2010, 08:55 AM
Classic, I can certainly work on it. =P There is a roster at the bottom of the first post of this threat, which I can alter to use links once I figure out how.
Delicross, that's fine. As long as we don't get past a sort of renaissance, possibly steampunk era with our characters, it should be fine. =D
Aedin, accepted. Feel free to post. =D
I'll post in several hours, this afternoon or so. I'll also work on Classic's request when I get home from college- which I'm already an hour late to! Goodbye. =D
Oh, look! *points* A drow! I haven't seen someone play a dark elf in forever! *smiles fondly in memory of Drizzit* Yay for non-human characters!
Xelli is going to flip. xD
11-16-2010, 10:46 PM
xD Hahah, Drizzt is all too awesome.
Can't wait to see her reaction, then!
11-16-2010, 11:04 PM
Once again I have an apology to make. X.x
Life is very uncertain, so I suppose you all understand why my posting is being pushed back again until tomorrow evening.
Still, since this is a pretty major issue, I'm going to be looking for a second GM to help keep things in check. 0.o;
Right now we probably don't need one, but having someone else around who can check biographies, help plan IC plots and possibly take over some NPCs would be a help. =P
By the way, I have no idea who it will be yet.
I would say that I'd be happy to help you Nevan but I too am on at uncertain times for unknown length of times, which are usually short during the weekdays.
And I will try and post as soon as possible. Might be a short one >_< but I'll get it out.
11-17-2010, 09:25 PM
I'd be happy to help, but I think in still too much of a n00b.
Posted! >_< I was rushed to get this done this morning before work so my next post will include the new appearance of the drow, fea, and angel.
11-19-2010, 09:08 PM
I know it's been a while, but here's my character sheet!
Name: Luna Juliet Socrates Blackthorn
Appearance: Luna is tall and thin, with brown eyes and long brown hair. She is usually seen wearing a long dress or a shirt and a long skirt. Her footwear depends on the weather. In the colder months, she usually wears a cloak. Since she is a princess, Luna's clothes have some decoration, but they aren't extremely fancy since she is trying to hide her identity.
Personality: Luna is a kind and gentle individual who would ideally be loved by everyone for these traits. She is quiet and shy, but once she gets to know someone and trusts them, she becomes more talkative and open. She is very smart and knows better than to immediately trust someone.
Weapons/Items: Sword, one long knife.
Skills/Abilities: Luna is skilled with a sword and is decent with a knife, though she only uses it when she either loses her sword in battle or feels like she should have two weapons in use instead of one.
History: Luna is the princess of a distant kingdom. When she was 17, the people of the kingdom rebelled against her family and tried to kill her family. A neighboring kingdom offered to give Luna's family asylum, which was accepted by her parents, who believed that it would be better if they were alive when the rebellion settled down so they could return and rebuild if things fell apart. After much painful thought, Luna and her parents decided that it would be a good idea for Luna to flee to another kingdom in case the king and queen died on the way to the neighboring kingdom. They left at the same time, Luna going one way, her parents going the other way. When Luna left, she was dressed as a peasant, wearing clothes that she had previously worn when she wanted to visit the kingdom's towns without being recognized. After a few days, she and her few guards had wound up at the inn. A few days after her arrival, she recieved a message from her family's mage that said that her parents had left their kingdom and were safely living in the kingdom of their allies.
Other: Luna's father is the son of the previous king and her mother is the daughter of a duke. Her father's side of the family (the ruling side) has a tradition of using the name of a famous philosopher as part of their chilldren's names, which partially explains why Luna has "Socrates" as part of her middle name. The other reason is because her father likes Socrates and would have given it to her as a first name if she had been a boy.
11-19-2010, 10:28 PM
I won't have internet access for a while, so I can't stay in the RP. I can't be on.
11-20-2010, 04:59 AM
Name: Rio Tanaka
Personality: Loud and Obnoxious he grew up with a very spirited personality in the rural Mountains of the North. There he quickly gained friends and earned a name for himself, putting others before himself. Everyone was sad when he marched off to war with the rest of the men from his village.
Weapons/Items: A longsword and Kite-shield, standard issue equipment from his Army as well as the uniform and Nations banner. He carries a small pack for his food and camping equipment as well as a water pouch.
Skills/Abilities: Swordsmanship, small-/big-unit tactics, survival, anything and everything a regular soldier would have learned.
History: Growing up in the Kingdom to the North he found himself with a unlimited amount of play area. It was a game to see who could make it home from the bottom of the mountain, or a test of courage to see who could climb to the top. That's not to say he never got into trouble.
Swordsmanship was something taught to him by fighting with other kids. Those skills sharpened when he was conscripted at the legal age. Though he was always sort of a ladies man because of his personality he never treated them badly. Sort of a Knight within the Kingdom, even though they had rid themselves of that title long ago due to...relationship issues.
Is now out of the Army, having served his term, and decided to travel while he thought deeply of taking up Arms for his Country as a career.
Other: Complains when everyone else won't. Swears when everyone doesn't want to. Gets into bitter arguments over every little thing, yet can be very mature when it comes down to it.
11-20-2010, 10:08 AM
Delicross, I'm sorry I didn't post in time for you. I was waiting for Nevan's response as the chef for my character. Lily wouldn't just ignore your character. Again, I'm sorry if it seemed that way, I've been busy and have been waiting for someone to post too.
11-21-2010, 01:58 AM
Oh, it's okay Meg. I thought you'd might be busy and I didn't want to put pressure on you to post if you where so I let my character slip away.
11-21-2010, 12:11 PM
Lucky that happened, my character was getting bored.
11-22-2010, 08:04 AM
Alright, I'm just going to post then, sorry for being out of it for so long. I'll just try and catch up now.
11-22-2010, 09:30 PM
So...do I wait for my profile to be accepted or do I just post?
11-23-2010, 12:36 AM
Wait for your profile to be accepted before posting.
So sorry I haven't posted yet, guys! This week has just been hectic with Thanksgiving and my work being changed. This is my first years cooking for the holiday and I want everything to turn out great. So, I'll work on a post this morning, but might not finish it until later today or tomorrow morning!
Gah! >_< I lied.
But, I posed now. So sorry, again, for the long wait.
12-02-2010, 03:08 AM
FORGIVE ME!!!! *falls all over myself* I went home for thanksgiving (I live on campus at a vocational tech school) and home has no internet. I just NOW have managed to find the time to get on here and tell you I'm sorry for not posting. (Specially sorry to Fenix for all that since we was RP-ing before I bounced randomly)
12-06-2010, 06:02 PM
I'm not even going to bother explaining why I have been away for so long. =o
Personal matters, we could say. Anyway, I'd like to express my surprise and excitement that this has kept relatively active in my absence =D
Vampirequeen and Delta, you're both accepted.
Now, I have a few pages of IC to read. 0.0;;
I want to post but... don't feel right leaving Meg's character hanging. Maybe I should just get a pillow? :P
12-08-2010, 02:40 AM
Name: Jacob the Shade
Age: 223 years, give or take.
Race/Info: Shadow Demon.
A branch of demons that specialize in the use of acquired damned souls in the form of shadow-like creatures that usually stay at their masters feet like normal shadows. These 'shadows' allow the demon to do many of a variety of things, such as walk through walls, teleport (in a fashion), know things about the environment and the people in it, invade minds, learn the feelings of a being, and simply disappear from view. Naturally, these abilities are directly affected by how brightly lit the setting is. Powerful demons, such as Jacob, can still use their powers in broad daylight, but they are significantly reduced in effectiveness. The 'shadows' are completely immune to physical and magical damage, unless in the form of Pure Light, and are further protected when they are 'wrapped around' their demon.
Appearance: Could pass for an average human. Stands about 5'10", with dark tan skin tone and dark brown hair and eyes, the latter of which could almost be defined as black. His hair normally falls down to just above his shoulders. He always wears a pitch-black cloak, which is completely unaffected by Jacob's movements or wind, or really any other outside influence beyond actually touching it. On his left arm, the sleeve is cut at the elbow to show off a silver gauntlet, named Te Kage, the Akuma Yaiba. (See weapons.)
Personality: Very blunt and to the point. He normally avoids fights without need, but he'll draw steel at the tip of a hat if you mess with him the wrong way (i.e. mess with his current love interest, blatantly make fun of him, do something SO stupid, he deems you unworthy of living [That's happened only once]). He enjoys making jokes, even if he's the only one that gets them. He's also not much of one for small talk, unless the other person starts the conversation. However, there are always those few that spark some interest in him.
Weapons/Items: Te Kage, the Akuma Yaiba. A demonic artifact taken from a high-ranking Demon Lord after Jacob killed him personally. It hold tremendous power, able to crush atoms between its fingers, and use the energy made from it to fuel Jacob directly. Generally, though, it acts as a medium for Jacob to channel his demonic powers through, enhancing them greatly. The gauntlet also has a hole in its palm which contains an infinite storage place, where weapons Jacob has stored over the years all reside waiting for Jacob's call. Jacob's shadows can go into this storage place if they become threatened by Pure Light, but that's only as a last resort.
Kumori. Jacob's specialized ninjato that is imbued with a shadow, which gives it the ability to cut [I]through[I] anything. It will go through skin, metal, steel, adamantium, dark matter, anything, without leaving a scratch. What does it do, then? It ruptures organs, breaks down materials from the inside, and leaves a fatal poison that seeks out a sentient being's central thought processor and shuts it down. Objects like steel rust, organics decay, and electronics have their energy dried up.
Skills/Abilities: Beyond the abilities defined in being a Shadow Demon, Jacob has an innate sense for other demons, as well as a trained power over Black Magic. Something specific to Jacob, but directly influenced by his race, he can shift into a ebon wolf, his 'spirit animal' if you will. Jacob also can mind probe or link with someone without using his shadows.
History: Born in a remote mountainous area as a full blooded human, Jacob never knew his parents. Before he was even three years old, they were killed while out for a walk by a local gang. The reasons why are still uncertain, but it is speculated that Jacobís parents were targeted by someone for their money. Jacob was left to die next to his parentsí bodies, a two-year-old infant not even aware that his parents were no more. However, to his great fortune, the murders were witnessed by a monk who lived nearby, who had also been out on a walk. He saved Jacob from the wilderness and took him back to his dojo, where Jacob grew up as his apprentice, among many others. Jacob was a prodigy to the martial arts, as well as nearly every weapon he laid his hands on. He was also taught basic magic by local wizards, and trained under the famous Vivi Orunitia in Black Magic, as well, when the mage stopped by the dojo for a few months. As soon as he was old enough to understand, Jacob was told the truth of his tutelage in the dojo, and why he was there. Jacob took it well outwardly, but he swore that he would have his revenge one day.
Eventually, Jacob came of age, and his master, Tai Shu, accepted him as a master of all the arts he could be taught. Jacob was given two swords that day, a katana named Kokuou Kotonashi and a ninjato named Kumori. Jacob took the swords and thanked his master for everything, then went to his room. Later that night, Tai Shu told him that he knew Jacobís plan. He warned him of the danger in it, but didnít stop him. Jacob left that night unknowing of how drastically his life was about to changeÖ
For nearly a month, Jacob tracked the trail of the local gang, finding their hideouts, which were always vacated before he got there, and tracking down people who knew where they went next. He always found a way to force the truth out, and if that didnít work, he moved on to the next supplier of information, conveniently disposing of the previous one beforehand. When the trail went cold by informants, he learned ways to track the gang like a wilderness explorer, picking up on their distinct scents and tracks, stalking them through the wilds and towns they passed through on their trek. Jacob focused so much on the trail, that he never noticed where the trail was heading, how it slowly turned around, and led him right back to where he had started. That is, until he burst through the brush one day to behold his old dojo, with the guards hung by the front gate.
Terrified, Jacob entered the dojo, looking around at the carnage that the gang had unleashed on his family. Men and women alike were dead or dying, beyond his ability to help, if he had even thought to help them. All he thought about was getting to the top floor, finding the gang before they killed any more. He threw open the top floor doors only in time to see the gang leader shove a sword straight through Tai Shuís heart. His master, his mentor, father, and friend killed before his helpless eyes. With that, Jacob lost any thought processes left in him. He slaughtered them all. A full gang of more than fifty people butchered like livestock before one single man. When he was done, he took his two swords and licked the bladeís clean of blood, savoring the metallic taste as the dojo burned down around him.
He left then, heading nowhere. For only a day he walked before he was visited by his campfire by a demon lord. The demon had been watching him since that first night he left bent on revenge, watching as the man who used to be Jacob changed and was twisted by his desire to kill his parentís killers. He had been there when that final blow was struck on Jacobís shattered mind, his masterís death, which ground the shards of his consciousness into nothing. The demon lord ravished in Jacobís bloodlust and offered him powers to allow him to be an even more merciless killing machine. For a price. No caring either way what happened, Jacob accepted the demonís powers. And thus, Jacob Shu, the human, was turned into Jacob the Shade, shadow demon.
For exactly one whole year, Jacob was to go and kill for the demon lord, his own personal assassin. Jacob killed everyone from royalty to beggars, excluding no one that was on the contract. Sometimes, whole cities burned for one manís mistake. Jacob never cared. It was his job. Through these killings, Jacob gained his impressive arsenal of shadows, growing more and more in tune with his new powers and slowly becoming more powerful. At the last minute of the year, the demon lord ordered Jacob to sign a new contract, binding the Shade into the lordís servitude for life. Jacob just looked at the demon and skewered him where he stood, grinning as he did. It was then that Jacob took Te Kage, the Akuma Yaiba from the lord, and made it his own.
Jacob's history continues personally (based off of previous RPs) but I'll save that unless its absolutely needed.
