    Default Welcome to Post Apocalyptia!

The building gave him shade, a cool breeze that he desperately needed against the salty sweat that dripped monotonously from the ends of his nose and bangs.
"Jesus Christ, Texas heat never changes." He gave a solemn breath of nostalgia that momentarily returned him to the overly-heated summers where he wouldhave rather stayed inside as a child. He look around and was beside himself at the sites that lay before him. Rolling plains a mangled "San Antonio" sign, and lastly the remains of an already butchered Alamo, still standing in all of its historical glory, to which now didn't seem of much use, but to provide a resting place as he waited for the groups of people, however many to arrive.

In times of waiting there didn't ever seem to be much to do accept take in the vast amount of land that had existed, and what it had become.
His helmet sunk down over his head and began to regulate clean oxygen. |It had been only two years or so maybe a bit longer since the bombs fell and so the radiation in most places was still enough to kill you or cause incurable sickness. Either way, you didn't keep your resperator off for more than a few minutes, and those few minutes once a day seemed almost like Heaven.

So, he waited and to pass the time he fiddled with his weapons, sharpening his knife and cleaning his gun. He took in the odor of the barren wastes and reminisced about the sweet scent of the trees and flowers the air so majestically carried from person to person who then took it for granted.
"May I sleep in your barn tonight Mr. for its cold lieing out here on the ground....." The song trailed off into low mumbles covered by the air filter in his helmet.

She leans on the window seal peering out into the nothingness that’s she use to call home. A single tear falls from her eyes but she quickly wipes it away. “Come on Mika pull yourself together…what would dad think you crying like a soft little girl” she walks over to a military pack that says in big letter Master Sergeant Michael Daniels she rubs her hand across it trying to hold back more tears. It was the only thing she had left of her father; everything else was destroyed during the flash fire. As she makes her way throw the hospital she could still here the laughs of children as they ran around the pediatric ward. She closes her eyes and as pure as day she could remember the smiles of welcoming parents and grandparents standing in the window of the nursery waiting to get a look at the new beautiful life, but all that was gone and in its place was the horror of war, and destruction that kept playing in her mind.

She walks out of the hospital placing her hand over her eyes staring back at the once beautiful facility, the building that she had seek refuge in, the places that saved her life. she lets out a sigh and turns around looking out into the wasteland. “It’s time for me to go. It been months since anyone’s came to me for help. There all gone and I’ll be next if I stay here “she say trying to encourage herself to walk away from the ruins of her old life. She puts on her mask and takes a deep breath and wipes the sweat from her forehead and lens as she begins making her way toward the Alamo. The sun was harsh but she kept tracking her way forward for what seemed like hours passing the ruins of homes and cars. She slides her mask off letting out a sigh she hated her mask it was a constant reminder to her of how human become a group of faceless monsters.

But she shakes her head and places it back over her face. She continues to walk trying to keep her eyes on the road, and away from the destruction. As she gets closer she can see the building, and stops in her tracks and lets out a sigh it was only a couple feet away. She couldn’t help but feel relieved, knowing that soon this horde nightmare will be a curd, dark memory. She speeds up as she holds the strap of her bag in one hand and the strap to her gun in the other. “Finally…a new start far away from this awful hell.”

She slows down as she reaches the building she sits down her bag and pulls her weapon as she begins to look around. Not seeing anyone she takes her mask off to get a better look.

Tensor looks out at the wreckage of the town, he got out his binoculars hoping to find something to shoot. He then walks out and goes towards the only other stable building, it had been a while since he met more than one person and he wished that he had some company. He decides to fiddle with his ammo clip around his shoulder for a while and checking the scopes on his rifle.

Aubrey leaned his head back against the bricks hitting the back of his helmet against a metal cover he rested against. Once a day he would ring this signal for thirty minutes, it was loud and echoed atleast a slight distance off, as there was nothing left to block the sound, it was wasted all of it. He continued humming his solemn tune, as the rifle rested easily against his should similar to a bed mate. He had never needed anything else, and that was the way he seemed to prefer it although on some days, he would much rather have a companion instead of booking it across the old US of A with a rifle and four hundred or so rounds. He knew people would begin showing up soon, and so with that he began resting his eyes listening to the hum of the rebreather like a counting in his head. The sun, the stagnant air, it had all become daily routine and even the sweat on his brow was just another thing the wastes had proven would become routine.

The world was quiet and even with steadily moving animals he payed no mind though even a few though several people walked by him but they had lossed everything. Including there minds.

She looks around the outside of the building searching for any sign of life, until she started to hear the signal being played... She had spent many of nights lying in the hospital hearing the signal, drifting off to sleep praying that the group of people make it safe wishing she was with them, but she had always thought she was need there. She runs and picks up her bag then walks around the building out of the hot sun; with her gun still drawn. The world was crazy now and there was no room for errors. She had seen and met young men and woman that had been brutally attacked, and beaten over something as simple as a bag of peanuts, and she was damn determined that she wasn’t going to be one of them. As she makes her way around the building she notices someone standing next to it she took a deep breath and puts her gun down and walks over. As she walked over she had a smile on her face it had been months since she had seen another person, but the solider in her wouldn’t let her be completely satisfied, there was a chance that this could be a trick and with her being a woman things could get out of hand fast. She slides her mask over her face, and places her gun strap on her shoulder as she makes her way to the stranger leaning against the brick. She approaches him leaning her back against the wall next to him. “You got to love the heat and sun, there’s nothing quite like it.”

Igor's breathing rasped as she drew in a breath through the filter, then a soft pop as she breathed out and the valve let it go. It was always warm in the mask.

The stories in the camps were always the same. The Wayfarer came once a year to San Antonio. He stayed only for fifteen days, then left for California - a mythical place where there were no monsters raised up by the Light, where the air was ever sweet and safe food & water was everywhere.

Her uncle believed in California, believed in the story of the Wayfarer. The last camp was the closest they'd found to San Antonio. He left her there, inside an ancient shelter, while he went to check out the city.

    He never came back.

She waited impatiently, first for him, then as weeks became months, for the Wayfarer. And then one day just a few weeks before, the men discovered her secret. Women did not leave the camps unless they could no longer produce children. Only then could they risk the radiation and the monsters raised by the Light.

And here she was, sleeping in a corner of Men's Country.

The women tried to get her into their protection but she knew their trap and would have nothing to do with it, preferring to stand her own ground.

And the men tried to rush her - only to blunder into the traps she set. A few got past them, including the headman. She slashed at his face with her machete and he was gone, hands over his face. The angry mob she broke up with a couple shots of stinking buckshot. Igor grabbed her gear and bolted out of the shelter before they could recover.

A few days in the rough, scrambling to keep from sight in case the shelter sent anyone to look for her, and she found her way here, to San Antonio.

She stiffened suddenly. In the distance, she could hear the clanging of metal - a signal? Or a gun fight? Igor pulled her shotgun and started towards the sound.

"No not at all, I miss the winter's personally." He gave a quick laugh under his breath before standing to meet the female infront of him. He wondered for a ssecond if people had started to talk at that maybe the trips were becoming more popular. But it didn't much matter, he took to question the gun on her shoulder, stared at it for just a moment before claiming peace with his hands.

"So, are you here for the trip to Ole Cali?" He said with hint of playful like gesture hiding beneath the sun and a full facemask. The gun now rested with the butt end of it on the ground. the pistol still holestered at his side. He looked cautiously around for any companions of hers for a few reasons. One and two considering the option this could be a trap. The helmet pinged with a definivitve "no life signs in the immediate area." Other than her of course.

Tensor looked around for the line of posts that led near where he was going. He was walking past them for at least an hour when he heard the sound of metal, he took out his sniper, loaded it and put in the close range scope, he then proceeded carefully until he reached the building he was looking for. He jumped in and scanned the area, making sure that he was safe.

She laughs “never been a winter girl.” she was a little uneasy about the whole situation, she figured that there would be more people, but reality sat in and that’s when it hit her she was the only one left in her area. “Yeah... Anywhere is better than this hell.” She sits her bag down and lays her gun against the brick as she tried to stay out of the sun. She easies her way down to the ground putting her back against the wall, “I’ve been holding up in the San Antonio Military Medical Center for what seem like years, helping the injured and the ones that need places to stay. I heard the legend and the signal, but I always felt like I was needed here until recently”

she giggles a little “it a relief knowing it’s not just a gimmick a story people tell trying to convinces there selves that there is a better life out there.” She removes her mask and wipes the sweat from her face. A few strings of her hair hang in down stuck to her sweaty skin. She closes her eyes feeling the wind on her face.

Aqua walks under the hot sun. She wipes some sweat from her forehead and sighs heavily as she adjusts the rope she used for a strap for her Mini-14 Tactical. She had found it in the rubble of some person's house on her way into San Antonio. She wasn't used to the Texas heat, but she had heard stories of some guy coming to San Antonio and taking people to a place. She smiles a bit "Heaven." she had heard stories from other drifters that he took people to a magical place where everything was green and full of life, and where there was water...lots and lots of water.

She had seen a sign saying that she had reached San Antonio city border. She didn't know how long it would be before she reached people, but hopefully they would let her go with them to California. She slips in something and catches herself before she hits the ground. She looks down and sees something glowing, something radioactive. She wipes her foot on the ground and continues walking, hoping to make it there before it was too late.
