Default 100 movies you have to see at least once

Ok, this is how it works:

I kick this thing off. With every post, someone else posts a new movie and if you can the reason why we should see this movie and this way we will count down from 100 to 1. But please, do not post more than two movies in one post

    As said, I'll start:

    100. - Janghwa, Hongryeon - directed by Ji-woon Kim

Especially those who have seen last years remake of this movie, called: The Uninvited. This is the one horror movie that has made me cry twice over the same scene because I was so damn scared. If you're looking for an intelligent horror movie, that doesn't rely on the same old tricks we've seen so many times now, and if you're into horror movies that are more than just that, you REALLY have to see this one. Far better than the remake, but that's almost always the case.

Full list of flims so far:

    100. Janghwa, Hongryeon
    99. Million Dollar Baby

99.- Million Dollar Baby - directed by Clint Eastwood

"Tough ain't enough." Frankie Dunn, the cynical owner of an overrun boxing gym, has long given-up on finding true talent amongst the downbeat losers who come to him, in search of a coach. However, it's when Maggie Fitzgerald, an aspiring female boxer, saunters through the door, that everything changes for him--initially critical, it's in her most desperate moments that he uncovers her potential as a boxing megastar, taking the two of them on a journey, both in and out of the ring. Brooding and intense, Million Dollar Baby is a cinematic masterpice--beautifully directed, written and acted. Hilary Swank, in particular, shines as Maggie. Her performance is strong, dramatic and devastating... in a way, she IS Maggie; and her chemistry with Clint Eastwood's Frankie, is omnipotent.

    98) Dogma - Directed by Kevin Smith

A bit of change from the norm of Kevin's movies. Although we still do get his usual genius sense of humour, he has put together a fantasy work that is intelligent and truly is thought provoking. And of course Jay and Silent Bob show up, so what's not to like

As long as we're with Kevin Smith, I'll add:

    97. Clerks - directed by Kevin Smith

Finally a comedy from America that lets go of the stereotypering America created by making comedies that star Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler and/or Ben Stiller. This is funny, because Smith isn't scared to be cynical, crude and downright mean, but in such a way it stays realistic. About two clerks who actually hate their job and life and about everything they discuss. The humour is basically found in their dialoques, but let's not forget the idiotic Jay and Silent Bob, who add that 'town fool' feeling to the movie.

    96. Clerks II - directed by Kevin Smith

I actually found this one to be even funnier than Clerks. Smith gets done what almost no one gets done: (except, of course, Cameron with Terminator 2 and some other guys :P) creating a sequel that's even better than the original movie. The scene in which they make fun of Lord of the Rings is absolutely epic!

    95. Stand By Me - directed by Rob Reiner

Twelve-year-old Gordie--still recovering from the sudden death of his Golden Boy older brother--turns to his friends when his distraught parents, lost in their own grief, unintentionally cold-shoulder him. Together, the four friends--lead by the streetwise Chris Chambers (played incredibly well by a fifteen-year-old River Phoenix)--decide to embark on a journey of a lifetime and search a kid their own age, whose body reportedly lay in the woods surrounding their hometown. Based on Stephen King's 'The Body'.

    94. Cinderalla Man - Directed by Ron Howard

Now, if you love Russell Crowe then there's your first reason to watch this, because Crowe once again surpasses his own abilities. The man isn't acting, the man is James J. Braddock, the lead character in this true story about a man who went from the highest heights to the deepest depths and back for his family. Howard has been succesful with Crowe before in A Beautiful Mind (a movie I hope to see mentioned in this list too) and the two proof to be a golden duo once again by making this movie. A really moving, touching and yet thrilling story that's been directed and acted in a perfect way. Really a must-see, especially if you're into true story movies and/or sports movies.

    93. Joe vs the Volcano

    Spoiler:

It's a really unusual pick, I know. But what other goofy off-the-wall comedy makes you take a serious look at your life, and then laugh? And coined the phrase "flibertygibbet?" If you're feeling down and need a laugh, this is for you. I dare anyone to watch this movie beginning to end and not laugh. I'd tell you the story, but I don't want to spoil anything. Suffice it to say it's about a guy named Joe(Tom Hanks), a bunch of other women all played by the same actress(Meg Ryan), and a volcano.

    91. Sherlock Holmes (2009)

The movies that came out on Christmas. The perfect Christmas present for anyone, if you made it to the packed theater that day. It does not disappoint with plot twists. Sir Authur Conan Doyle would have bought a ticket and have been amazed at the movie. You don't need to have read Sherlock Holmes before and love it.

    90. Princess Bride

    Spoiler:

Because everyone should enjoy this wonderful love story, with adventure, magic, and just plain fun. With characters like the Dread Pirate Roberts, Fezzik the Giant, and Inigo the Swashbuckler. Who would want to miss this Epic tail of Swords and Love?

Westley: "Give us the gate key."
Yellin: "I have no gate key."
Inigo Montoya: "Fezzik, tear his arms off."
Yellin: "Oh, you mean *this* gate key."

    89. Inglorious Basterds

In Nazi occupied France, young Jewish refugee Shosanna Dreyfus witnesses the slaughter of her family by Colonel Hans Landa. Narrowly escaping with her life, she plots her revenge several years later when German war hero Fredrick Zoller takes a rapid interest in her and arranges an illustrious movie premiere at the theater she now runs. With the promise of every major Nazi officer in attendance, the event catches the attention of the "Basterds", a group of Jewish-American guerilla soldiers led by the ruthless Lt. Aldo Raine. As the relentless executioners advance and the conspiring young girl's plans are set in motion, their paths will cross for a fateful evening that will shake the very annals of history.
