Impossible Creatures is an old game (extremely underrated as well).
The story of the game was set in the late 30, when the world was on the brink of war. (World War II for those that don't know it out of their heads :P)
As tension started to grow, Dr. Eric Chanikov, an infamous scientist had finally perfected his project upon which he had worked for 30 on the forgotten Isla Variates island chain, located somewhere in the South Pacific.
His creation, named the Sigma Technology, allowed for the combination of two seperate animals you'd find in nature, into a new and superior beast, which held the strengths of both, and the weaknesses of none.
These 'Impossible Creatures' were to be the first success in his plans to rid mankind of its flaws that make it vulnerable to age and disease.
Upton Julius, a wealthy industrialist, who had been Dr. Chanikov's only support for the project, revealed to have a different agenda then to help mankind. He revealed he wished to use the Sigma technology to become a powerful force to be reckoned with. But when Dr. Chanikov decided it was time to send his long lost son, Rex Chance, a letter, Upton Julius struck and killed Chanikov. The letter however managed to reach Rex Chance, who set out for the Isla Variates in order to finally meet his father, who he had always thought was dead.
Upon arrival to the islands, however, he was immediatly confronted with the dangers of the Sigma technology, as he came face to face with Upton Julius and a couple of his creations. In the nick of time, though, Rex Chance was saved by Dr. Lucy Willing, friend and colleague of Chanikov, who escaped Upton's wrath. Together with Lucy, Rex discovered his father's fate, and decided to avenge him and put a stop to Upton's plans.
Using a mobile lab, they decided to use the Sigma technology to beat Julius at his own game, beating their way through all the obstacles he threw at them, including the brutish whaler, Whitey Hooten, the sinister ornithologist, Velika La Pette, and the deranged veterinarian, Dr. Otis Ganglion.
In the end, Rex found out, that in an accident thirty years before, he too had become the subject to the Sigma technology, revealing why Upton Julius was after him. Rex had been combined with his entire enviroment and learned he had some strange abilities to his disposal, under which were regeneration, feeling one with the combined beasts he and Lucy used and even his own skin became toxic on contact when he pleased.
When Julius was finally defeated, Rex and Lucy made the decission to destroy the Sigma technology, as they could not trust it to fall in the wrong hands.
