It had been a long night Akira woke up with claw marks on her legs it would seem he was getting hungry again. Akira got up and fixed her hair the pain within her body was over whelming as if something were ready to burst right out of her very body. She changed into her uniform and walked into her grandmother’s bedroom softly kissing her cheek trying not to wake her up. Akira walked outside locking the door behind her she was running late but she was in too much pain to attempt to rush. Akira slowly made her way to school the bell had already rung as she slowly walked to the classroom it was quiet as everyone looked back at her. Akira was blushing as she slowly walked to her seat and quietly sat down wishing everyone would quit staring at her. After only a minute everyone turned back around and began to talk, “She’s always late it’s as if she wants us all to stare at her.” A girl says to her friend as her friend nods.
“Mmm…” A dark raspy voice says with a slurping sound. This voice only Akira could hear she ignored it as the teacher quieted everyone down and began his lesson once again. Akira began taking notes ignoring the constant whispering around her desperately fighting the pain and the urge to cry as she pain got worse she squeezed her pencil tightly.
After a while the lunch bell rang and as Akira went to get up a girl stood in her way slowly the girls friends surrounded Akira’s desk forcing Akira back into her seat. The teacher had left the room it was only Akira and these four girls.
“I heard you have a crush on Keiko.” The first girl says leaning in close to Akira’s face.
“I can smell her blood it smells delicious.” The voice says as Akira’s voice shakes as she tries to speak.
“Well is it true?” Another girl asks slamming her hand on Akira’s desk.
“N-no.” Akira says softly backing away from the first girl.
“He’s mine so don’t get any ideas.” The first girl says glaring.
“Just one bite and this fight can end right here Akira.” The voice says as Akira’s hand begins the grip tightly onto the desk. Without a word Akira jumped out of her seat pushing her way threw the girls and running from the classroom running off to find a place to hide. Tears fell from her eyes as she ran down the hallway she couldn’t stay there any longer for she knew what would happen.

The classroom was suddenly filled with a resounding ringing, signaling the beginning of the day. Mikado sat still at his desk, his body leaned forward in the chair with his face buried amongst his arms. He wore a thick sweat shirt, which allowed him to pull the hood over his hair and block out the bright lights of the room. Outside the sun was rising higher into the sky, and his mind was stuck between resent for it, and resent for his past self for not going to sleep sooner. There was a pause after the bell rang before a voice arose from the speakers, seeming to read from a piece of paper a series of morning announcements. Mikado's head lifted slowly from his desk, his hood falling back of his own accord as his eyes began to adjust hesitantly to the light. No one really cared whether he was asleep or not- at least not at the beginning of class. As the voice droned on, he went through the procedure of removing his sweat shirt and standing to stretch. As he pulled his arms over his head, the sound of a door could be heard opening to his right. His eyes drifted in the noises direction, and he watched as his first period teacher entered the room.
Mikado took his seat, his mind coming slowly to the waking world and accepting the reality it had been presented with. The time for sleep had ended, sadly.
"Hey, Mikado," he heard a familiar voice pronounce from his left. He looked over and recognized the face of one of his friends, a tall boy with jet black hair, wearing an aqua colored hoodie that matched his shoes. "You look tired man- not getting much sleep?"
"Yea... I never do," he responded drowsily, rubbing his eyes with the cuff of his shirt, "I feel like a zombie."
"Not enough time in the day?" he said, leaning on one arm with his elbow propped against his desk. "Up all night studying?" he said sarcastically, to which Mikado simply shrugged his shoulders. He never studied. He didn't like to brag, but he didn't really need to.
"Something like that..." he responded slowly, casting his gaze around the class.
"So, your aunt's out of town then?" the conversation was suddenly shifted, and Mikado looked back in his direction.
"Yea. She's gone for a week,"
"And she's just letting you stay home alone?" he responded, his voice seemed somewhat disbelieving, "I wish my mom would do that."
"Eh- she didn't want to, but it's a business thing. It's not that great really- I've got to take care of my sisters while she's gone. She's the one that pays for our food though, so I guess I can't complain," Mikado responded, tapping his fingers lightly on the surface of his desk.
"Don't they normally cook for you..?" his friends voice came back.
"Eh?"
"Your sisters. Last time I was over they cooked dinner," a smile had started to emerge on his face as he looked towards Mikado.
"Well..."
"Well yes," he finished, starting to laugh. "Don't pretend like you've got to be all responsible now that you're aunt's not home," the boy shook his head slowly, "how about I come over today? We'll hang out."
"Nah. I don't feel like it," Mikado leaned back and stretched his back, looking to the front of the room as the teacher had started speaking. "Maybe tomorrow."
"Alright, whatever," his friend said, shrugging his shoulders and reaching down for his bag. Mikado did the same, removing a notebook and a ballpoint pen before redirecting his attention to the front of the room.

Akira ran into the girls bathroom leaning over the sink breathing heavily she looked at her reflection her eye’s weren’t hers they were that of an inhuman beast.
“I promise I’ll feed you tonight. Please don’t do this now! Please!” Akira begs desperately. Her eyes returned to the dark blue they were originally the pain that had filled her body suddenly stopped this sudden release from her pain sent her falling on her knees. She let out a large sigh of relief she then stood up and began inspecting her wounds from last night. Deep skin tearing scratches, this upset her to know that she was used to waking up to these type of wounds. Akira opened the door of the bathroom looking around the corner to make sure no one was around as she walked back to her classroom. Everyone had left the empty classroom she walked over to her bag and pulled out same bandages wrapping them around her wounds. After bandaging herself she laid her head on her desk and closed her eyes holding in the tears still left inside of her.
She sat and waiting patiently for the bell to ring as people walked back into the classroom she could hear those girls whispering to each other as they walked past her. She refused to look up or even move a muscle she assumed the beast was sleeping and didn’t want to move too much and wake him up. With this the cold thought of feeding him tonight brought more tears to her eyes she hated to be a part of this transaction.

The minutes ticked away slowly. The one disturbance in the classes normally dull schedule was that of a girl entering the room, moving quietly through the class and taking her seat towards the back. Mikado knew who she was, but only by appearance. Around her leg was a fresh wrap of bandages, surrounding the majority of her lower leg. He tried for a moment to recall her name, but turned up a blank. He never really tried to learn everyone's name, especially if he never talked to them. She seemed like the type that didn't want to be bothered, anyway.
The teacher had taken their seat at the front of the class, and seemed intent on reading something from the screen of a gray laptop. Mikado looked over to his friend, who scanned lightly over a long series of handwritten notes, listed upon sheets of white paper. "Hey," he pronounced in his direction. He kept looking at the notes for a moment, but looked up soon after.
"Yea?"
"You see that girl?" he nodded his head towards the back of the room as inconspicuously as possible.
"Uh- which one?"
"I don't know. 'A' something..." he tapped his desk for a moment, feigning a contemplative pose. "Whatever. The one with the bandages on her legs. Wonder what happened,"
"Oh, you mean Akira, right? I don't know- she comes in like that every now and then. It's weird. You never noticed?"
"Eh..." he looked off, pretending not to care. He was normally quite perceptive, but there were things he missed, of course. Normally they were exceedingly obvious things. "Ever ask her what happened?" he stated, turning back in the boys direction.
"No. I don't think anyone does. I never see her talk to anyone. Well- not really, anyway. I think the bitch brigade gets on her case every now then," he chuckled to himself, moving his arms forward and cracking knuckles in a stretching pose. "She's a bit of an enigma," he spoke into the air, doing his best to sound dramatic.
"Right, an enigma," Mikado repeated back, speaking with a bit of laughter. "What do you think happened?"
"Em, I don't know. I don't really want to know," he looked over at Mikado, shrugging his shoulders. "Probably something we don't need to think about, you know?"
"Yea, I know," he sighed, looking once towards the back of the class. He caught a glimpse of the bandages around her leg, which appeared to be fresh. Probably applied in the morning sometime. It wouldn't be so strange if it wasn't a repeated event. "Probably doesn't matter," he affirmed, and his friend remained quiet.
The period had moved by uneventfully, and the second did the same. Mikado arrived at the cafeteria, looking through the crowd of students and setting eyes on his usual table. He navigated the cafeteria and took his seat, looking amongst his friends while shifting through his backpack. He produced a brown paper bag and placed it on the lunch table.
(Sorry for not replying yesterday. I had company.)

(That’s okay I understand )
At lunch Akira went to hide in a bathroom stall hoping no one would find her she had to suffer threw the day she knew she couldn’t just go home.
“It’s lunch time now feed me!” The voice yells viciously within her. It felt as if someone was squeezing her throat she fell against the stall door gasping for air as tears fell from her eyes softly.
“P-please… River!.. Stop River! I- I can’t - “ Akira struggles to get these words out as the grip tightens around her neck. She slide down the door falling to the floor as the grip suddenly let go and she began gasping for air.
“If you don’t feed me I will kill you and everyone in this place right now! Feed me!” The voice demands.
“River please.. Please give me until school is over. Can’t you be patient I can’t just do it right now in the middle of school.” Akira says in a timid voice rubbing her neck lightly.
“I’ve been patient enough with you but since I am such a kind and generous demon I’ll allow you the chance to feed me three times tonight in repentance for my lack of nourishment now.” River says with a laugh.
“Thank you I greatly appreciate your kindness.” Akira says sincerely standing back up to her feet. The laughing continued as Akira stood there silently a rule with River was that if wasn’t full she wouldn’t be allowed to eat either this meant she would have to skip lunch today. She rubbed her stomach as she waited patiently for the lunch bell to ring so she could hurry back to class and get this day over with though she was not looking forward to tonight.

Mikado ate his lunch quietly, the fatigue of the day dismissed temporarily as he listened amongst the chatter of his friends. The next twenty minutes were talked away quickly, and the bell rang once again. Mikado stood, moving without much thought towards the exits and on to his next class.
The period had ticked partially by, and Mikado had directed his gaze downwards towards the blank part of his desk. His mind wondered as his eyes unfocused, as he considered what he would be doing after school. With his aunt out, he was obligated to return home and keep watch of his younger sisters. They could take care of themselves, certainly, but it would probably be considered irresponsible if he left them home alone for too long. At least he didn't have to cook for them. They were the cooks of the family, even when their aunt was present.
With a single finger he repeatedly drew a circle in the desk. His uncle was in town, he recalled, and it would be nice to visit him. He was a peculiar man, with an odd sense of fashion and generally sub-par living standards. His hair tended to be in a mess, and he rarely changed into clothes that looked suitable for public interaction. It was his personality, and his occupation, that really interested Mikado. He had long sense gotten divorced to his aunt, prior to Mikado even being taken into her care, and the ex-couple shared a very strange relationship. It was rare that they met up, but from the few times he had seen them together, he could not say with certainty how exactly they felt towards each other. Sometimes there seemed to be resent, and sometimes friendship. When they spoke seriously, an atmosphere regret often pervaded the room.
While it was strange, Mikado tried not to think much into it. He had in the past asked his aunt what happened, and why she had married him in the first place, but only got inconclusive responses. Something about him being a loser and her being far too pretty for him. Well, that seemed to be her favorite explanation. His thoughts were interrupted by a sudden ringing, and students started exiting the room. Mikado stood and collected his possessions, looking towards the clock, and filtered out into the hall.
((Okie- next post or two we should get to the part where they actually meet up >.<))

The bell rang and school was over at the sound River awoke happily ready to begin his feeding though Akira would much prefer to have him wait until night. She planned to keep herself occupied until night fall but this meant she would have to suffer threw the pain of him torturing her until then. Akira stopped at the grocery store and picked up some food before heading home.
Akira prepared her grandmother a meal and brought it to her bedside then she made herself a meal to be saved for later. Finally the sun had begun to set and Akira put on her sweater and began walking to River’s feeding ground and beautiful park not to far from her house.
“I think I will handle this feeding for you Akira.” River says as she feels herself loosing control of her body. River moved rather animal like as he waited patiently for someone to walk into his path. A women was walking alone towards him she was heading home from work at this River began walking towards her. River grabbed the women as she went to scream he covered her mouth with a sadistic smirk on his face. Akira began to protest from inside as River ignored her. River began to devour her soul which he was sucking out from her mouth the sky was now dark as Akira began to fight River off stopping him from killing the women. Akira recovered her strength and was holding the nearly lifeless women in her arms struggling to keep her standing as she looked around.

It was dark and cold, but both were accepted. It seemed a fine night for a walk, really, to get out of the house. His sisters had made themselves dinner, and he had eaten. With the sun setting, he decided that instead of wasting the day around the house, he would stop by his uncle's to kill sometime. The two of them were younger then him by some six years, but they still seemed more capable of keeping the house in order than he was. With a sweat shirt pulled around his arms, and the hoodie pulled tight of his ears, he wondered along the sidewalk wordlessly. The night was quiet, and, fortunately, the trip to his uncle's house didn't cross any particularly dangerous neighborhoods. The wind was low, which kept the cold temperature tolerable, if not invigorating.
Mikado looked up and glimpsed the blackened sky, a myriad number of stars staring back at him. It wasn't a very impressive sky compared to some of the other places he had been, but still, it was nothing if not worthy of admiration. He walked forward without much thought, considering his current route and the possible excursions he could make along the way. The short trip involved rounding a couple blocks before passing through the town park.
In the quiet of the night, the park was usually peaceful. It seemed to be a favorite location for young couples in the summer, the various benches and scenic locations offering a fine area to view stars from. A small pond was situated in the center of the park, surrounded by a walking trail and several park benches, usually shaded from the sunlight by tall, leafy trees.
As Mikado entered the premises of the park he felt a sudden chill. The air seemed tense and threatening, and the hairs on his arms stood monetarily on end. He had felt that feeling before, somewhere, but he couldn't quite remember where. Thoughts of his uncle came to mind, but he wasn't sure why. For a moment, he stood still on the pavement, and looked about the darkened landscape. His feet started slowly forward, resuming his previous pace, but the peculiar sensation remained.
The source of the disturbance soon became rather obvious. Mikado had taken a right onto a fairly well lit path, and looked with no particular surprise or emotion as he watched the soul being sucked from the mouth of women he had never seen before. The girl he had seen at school stood there, grasping her now apparently lifeless corpse, as the women's legs became like those of a rag doll. There came a strange stirring in the back of his mind, as his brow furrowed slowly forward, and he could feel it threatening to turn into a tumultuous rupture. His eyes rolled over the scene, from Akira, to the women, and then to no where in particular as his mind started to demand that he do something. He could feel the muscles in his limbs start to twitch. "A... Akira?" he pronounced her name, and the terror finally hit him. His legs refused to move as he looked in the direction of the girl, and the women that she struggled to keep upright.
-
“We have company!” River yells from inside her as she turns to see a boy from her school looking at her. He seemed frozen in terror as he looked at her holding the body of the women trying to keep her from falling.
“Run!” Akira demands as River takes over her body once more.
“Looks like I get another meal.” River says happily running at Mikado full speed. Before the boy could even consider moving River had knocked him to the ground and sat on his stomach, “I think you have an interesting soul I can’t wait to taste it.” River says licking his lips as he holds his hands over Mikado’s head and starts pulling his soul from his body. River was laughing rather proud of himself but Akira began to fight back and managed to regain control before River could consume too much of his soul thought River barely got a taste. Akira looked down at the boy in shock at what she had done she had no idea what to do with that she jumped up off of him and began checking him for injuries. Tears filled her eyes at the very thought of killing someone she got a good look at his face and released he was from her school this made her feel even worse. Akira ran over to the women and began to check on her though she wasn’t moving much she was still breathing as Akira checked her purse and found a cell phone.
Akira called 9-1-1.
“Hurry before you get yourself caught.” River demands.
“Y-yes.” Akira says wiping the tears from her eyes.

It seems like seconds before it was over. He couldn't run, he couldn't move, he couldn't even think. Suddenly there was a weight atop him, and the world had inverted itself. He was offered a wide view of the sky above before he saw a familiar face, and before he suddenly experienced what felt like his very essence being pulled from his body. His veins went numb, the flow of his blood seemed to halt entirely, and for whatever reason, it felt like his hands had vanished entirely. From his core a part of him was stolen, pulled through his body and through his mouth, and he was forced to watch in anguish as it departed him. How he hated feeling helpless.
The worst part of it all was perhaps that, as his soul left his body, as the life seemed to loose root in his corpse, his mind told him to reach forward and kill the girl on top of him. It wanted desperately for his arms to fly forward and take her neck, and wanted him to ring it until that which wanted him to die no longer existed. Adrenaline pumped fruitlessly in his heart, and his limbs attempted to rich up, they found themselves failing to the forces of gravity. The rage subsided, and an eerily calm took over. He looked into the eyes of his attacker and saw three people staring back at him. One was a girl, who appeared to be struggling with everything she had. Another was a demon, who lavished in his soon to be demise. And the other was himself, looking resignedly back into his eyes, and finally closing them entirely.
Mikado felt uncomfortable. There was something warm underneath him, but it wasn't cushioned well enough. He felt something sticking to his arms and pulling the skin, and something sharp that must have been piercing his flesh. He lay quietly, not wanting to open his eyes. There was chatter around him, people talking quickly in terms that, in his dazed state, he could only half understand. The sensation in his arm was familiar though- it burned, like an IV. Potassium, maybe. He turned his head to the left and, with his eyes still closed, glared in its general direction. His feet were warm, and it felt as if he had something covering his torso, that stretched down past his legs and over his shoes, which he could feel he was still wearing. It seemed like the beginning of a rather disappointing afterlife.
After a while the talking stopped. He could tell that a light was on in the room, but everyone had left. Mikado released a sigh and peeled open the lids of his eyes. He lay in a brightly lit room. The walls were beige colored, with a glass viewing panel built into the wall. He scanned slowly, starting from the IV which he could see dripping fluid into his arms, and moving his gaze to the right of the room. He turned his head to the side, and saw a man sitting on the chair. He had blond, disheveled hair and blue eyes, wearing a light stripped robe with sandals. "Uncle?" Mikado pronounced, and the man gestured his head up at him.
"Hey. Hear you were taking a nap in the park," he flashed a smile, his teeth were a luminous white shade. Mikado's brow furrowed, before he shook his head meekly and chuckled. The mans expression seems concerned, if not for a second, before returning to its normal form. "Catch a cold?"
"Something like that..." Mikado started, looking towards his uncle and examining him thoroughly. He turned his head back to the left and looked at the observation panel, which was still vacant, and then back to his Uncle again. "We need to talk,"
"I know," he responded briefly, leaning back against his chair. "But not here. At my house," he leaned forward for a moment, and lowered his voice. "I think you've gotten yourself into a lot of trouble by living," the words came out heavily, catching Mikado by surprise. The boy looked away, and tried to recall everything that happened. Akira. That was who he remembered. "I mean, how are you going to explain this to your aunt, anyway?" Mikado's thoughts were interrupted, and he looked back to his uncle who had already resumed his smile.
"Damn," Mikado muttered him to himself, reaching up with his free arm and rubbing his eyes. "I don't know. Does she have to know?"
There was a short burst of laughter from the other side of the room, and the man sitting there shook his head. "No, I guess she doesn't. As long as you're alright with keeping it a secret. I've got you covered for the visit, don't worry," he stood and walked towards the bed. "Think you can walk? I would rather get you back to my place now. They don't know what happened to you, and they can't find anything strange in your blood. So- they said, 'If he can walk, we'll let him go.' Got it?" he spoke down to Mikado, and Mikado returned with a light nod. "Good." The Uncle walked off to fetch a nurse, and removed shortly to remove the IV. Mustering all of his strength, Mikado attempted to stand, and nearly fell more than once. By the time he reached the door though, he had managed to adapt to a slow limp. "Good enough?" he asked the nurse, who simply nodded her head and went back to work. "You're a tough kid, you know. The other women's not looking nearly as good as you are. Well, health wise- she's got a pretty nice figure,"
"Shut up," Mikado responded, pulling himself against a wall. "Help walk me out of here. Where are we?"
"Golden Heart University Hospital. I'll drive you back to my place, then we'll go to your aunts. We've got to pick something up," Mikado followed slowly behind as his Uncle spoke.
"Why not just stay at your place?"
"Your aunt's out of town, remember? You're a pretty crappy older brother," his uncle offered an arm to Mikado, who accepted it and started limping out of the hospital. He wouldn't complain. His Uncle had a way of knowing things, and knowing what to do. It was often times very uncanny. He lead them out to the parking lot and Mikado stepped into the car. His uncle started onto the road. "You remember who it was, right?"
"Yea," Mikado responded, assuming the Uncle already knew more than even he did.
"Good. That'll make finding her easier. How are you going to approach her?"
"Approach her... how do you even know who it was?"
"I know everything," he responded simply, and Mikado nodded his head.
"I don't know. Why should I approach her in the first place?"
"Because you have to. The demon won't want you to live. You've got to fix things. Besides- it's in your personality. You like getting beaten up or something," he smirked, and Mikado remained silent. His energy felt drained. In the dark of the car, his stomach growled.
