Biography:

Martin was born to a small impoverished family in on the island formerly known as Caracas. His father was a fish merchant named Alex Jasor, and his mother was a seamstress. However, 'seamstress' was a relative term used to describe the more unmentionable members of female society. Needless to say, Mrs. Jasor was none too happy to find that her husband had fathered a child out of wedlock. However, she raised the child as her own, even if she never let her husband out of her sight again.

Mr.Jasor was ever a patient man. One needed to be to deal with Martin. The boy was one of the most adventurous children ever born to mankind. From climbing buildings, to parachuting off the tallest tree in the city, the antics never ended. Mrs.Jasor managed to keep him out of injury, or at least permenant injury. Over time, Martin acquired scars, and the know-how of how not to get them.

One thing the son and father had in common was the love of the sea. Quite often, the pair could be seen in the family boat, sailing the waters around Caracas. It seemed that sailing was theraputic to the child, as that was the only time he was ever calm. Martin grew to be one of the best sailors on the island, even surpassing his father at the age of twelve.

In that same year, pirates came to Caracas. Appearing on the horizon at dawn, three pirate ships blockaded the port while sending waves of bandits and marauders inland. Few citizens were able to escape. Mr.Jasor sent his son, other children, and wife in the family boat to flee while he and the other men tried to fight. Two days later, the family returned to find the town burned to the ground, and Mr.Jasor dead.

The next ship that came to town was a privateer vessel, one that had been trying to chase down the pirate fleet. Great anger was felt by the few remaining citizens. If only the ship had reached them sooner. However, over-riding those feelings was a need for revenge. Twenty of the town's remaining boys and men signed up to join the crew.

Soon afterward, the privateer ship, a Brigatine named Hades Vengance, chased down the pirate fleet. A brutal battle ensued, ending in all three of the pirate vessel's burning. However, the privateers suffered heavy casualties. A course of events followed, ending in Martin becoming the ship's captain nine years later. Ever since, the man has been running down pirates, attempting to bring justice to the seas. He sees the current treasure hunt as the perfect opprotunity to take out a number of pirates at once.

I do have a question: Should I have Bethany and Bastion announce finding the Journal, or let rumors spread about its existence? The latter seems like a better route to go, but I am a little undecided.
