How do you create or pick a name?

Well, a few start with me picking a letter or looking outside. But i kinda stick em in a few personal methods.
Like if its an avian of sorts, i may use a name such ad Qualia or Hoskei
If a reptile, Mileen,Zharran, or Hryssar
If dragon, Haid'ku, Zeth'tir,Hryssar, or depends on element for name.

As you can tell, i play scale or feathers a lot

I first visualize the character I am trying to create- It's personality, history, future, and soul. I create a name by choosing the words that best describe all that my character is or will be.

I also consider using middle or last names from historical figures that died or suffered in a way that similarly causes tragedy or shares a flaw with my character.

I find names that fit my character... I have the person in my mind, their look and personality, history, etc.. the name doesn't factor in till I'm done making the person.. then I'll take their ethnicity. Are they indian? irish? chinese? Zerg? (before I move to the main step I have to go through a middle step thingy)

I think what life impact (on their parents) would have affected their name? Chinese parents that have children after they move to, and live in the US have a tendency towards distinctly different names from the rest of americans and Chinese people back in their home country....

after that I look up traditional names that fit the parents qualifications and the characters personality....



Either I do that or just say fudge it and make somethin up on the spot... I seem to make a lot of A's though when I do that. mostly kuz I'm too lazy to move through the rest of the alphabet.

For me i want the name to reflect the person's character. So, i end up google-ing 'names that mean _____'. Sometimes it reveres it self. I can have a name in mind then i look it up for it's meaning and create the characer based off of that :P

I pick them based on the RP, the creator, and the overall character I want to play. What I mean by the first two is if the role-play is based in a farm town in the mid west I am not going to search for an Asian name unless the creator uses amine pictures or states that the town is predominantly Asian. The last one is more of if I'm personally playing a tough character then I want to find a name that both sounds and looks tough.

Seriously? I Literally throw letters together until a name pops out half the time, others, I jsut pick the first name i think of, and I mean, the FIRST NAME

So names like Marcel have occured through initial thoughts, and Doko has appeared through random Typing, haha
