    Default Mass Effect Thread

Considering how the third installment of this series is coming out soon, I figured there would be other people on here who enjoy the series... So I thought I would make a thread! Of course, this isn't limited to just ME3.

So... Any takers? Favourite mission? Character? Thoughts on leaks of ME3 (if you want to discuss these, please spoiler just in case). What did you like? What didn't you like?

    I'll go first.

I've only played ME2 (console player [come at me]) but I enjoyed it a fair amount. My favourite characters are Garrus with Thane in close second - followed by The Illusive Man. I'm blanking on mission names but I remember finding the loyalty ones particularly interesting.

Edited because people coming in here should know that THERE ARE SOME (slight) SPOILERS OF ME3 WITHIN. BE WARNED.

haha, well, I've never played the game, but yesterday I watched some of the love scenes from Mass Effect 2, with the thorny and terrifying male aliens seducing the hapless human females. Quite interesting.

Ahahahahhaha yeah inter-species romance is one of the largest selling points (not really, but also yes really). You'd be surprised at the amount of fangirls the aliens have though, I would say they have more than the human characters.

I tried the original Mass Effect for the 360 and never got past the first mission. I literally looked everywhere for the fourth charge, but I never found it.

Oddly enough, though, I still got the achievement for the mission o-o

But yeah. I figure it was some glitch that I couldn't patch since I didn't have Internet at the time. I ended up trading it in ,and my 360 red ringed not long after. My friends have been trying to get me to get ME2 for the PS3, but I absolutely refuse to do that, even if it has that thing at the beginning so you can make your ME1 choices- to me, that's like watching a movie trilogy but having someone tell you what happens or reading a summary about the first one- it's just not the same.

That's... Strange. Shame, though, I guess. People tend to say the first one was the best.

I understand your hesitation. Like I said, I played it and enjoyed it, but I didn't really have any background knowledge of what was going on, or any attachment to the characters (most of which are recurring, etc.). Not to mention I didn't even get the interactive comic thing because my PS3's not hooked up to the internet ://///. It was fun, but I do agree with you.

In other news, T-minus 30 minutes for the East coast release of ME3! Have the leading/most widely used/acclaimed song of the soundtrack (which is really good by the way, done by Clint Mansell). This plays as you leave Earth to be decimated by the Reapers (not classifying this as spoilers because that was on every single trailer for this game).

I played 2 before the first one. I love the story. the combat for me is kind like washing your hair. Lather rinse repeat. Picking up the third tomorrow morning and looking forward to it. Though I do admit being a little wary what with it seeming like the folks at Bioware have possibly lost their minds. Though I admit to blaming EA more than Bioware.

I find it strange that they've added multilayer, but no co-op. I would have loved to have the ability to hook up with someone and run through the story campaign. I do have a feeling though that this will be the last true ME RPG, though it seems liek they're less about the RPG element at this point.

Honestly, I think these two videos nicely sum up my thoughts. Though I disagree with everyone going on incessantly about the day one DLC. ME2 had day one DLC. Dragon Age 2 had day one DLC. Why is everyone so surprised and annoyed by it now?

Quite agree. I'm holding out for the price to go down/DLC to be included because I am incredibly miserly. And, judging from what I've seen from the spoilers/reactions to spoilers, I quite agree... But we'll just have to see. There will be backlash though, because there always is, but how much do you want to bet that reviewers give it near-perfect scores?

I've heard they're planning on an MMORPG of some sorts, like SW:TOR... And apparently, once you beat the game in whichever manner you please, a window pops up saying that you can get more gameplay
    Spoiler: spoiler
I've seen screenshots but you know how those can be faked... Either way, true or not, absolutely hilarious. And I agree, they seem to have reduced the RPG elements substantially. Only two dialogue options! Really.

You know how people are on the internet - people throw hissie fits over everything. I think the main problem is that having this DLC significantly affects your gameplay and the progress of the game... Also, weren't the ME2 and DA2 DLC at least free on the first day, or if you bought a new game, or something like that?

    Also, Jersey-Shoreification? Lol, yeah.

I hadn't actually seen those videos though, so thank you for sharing!

I'm happy to say that Mass Effect 3 isn't disappointing me. Combat seem a lot more fluid than the previous games. I'm just 3 hours in, but the story so far is pretty good. A little predictable, but that's just because we knew the beginning of this game already.

Hope it doesn't take me forever to finish.

Glad you're enjoying it! You guys might find these funny, too - the Metacritic user reviews of the game. It sure is angry in there.
    For XBOX
    For PC
    For PS3

I have to say, I laughed.

Finished. Hated the ending. I would rant, but don't want to post spoilers. Did I mention I hate the ending?
