The New War
Once upon a time a great war took place between the Mages Guild and the Order of Supernatural Beings. The war lasted for thousands of years until a rise of a religious power in 325 called the Roman Catholic Church and its sub group of inquisitors. This organization drove both party’s to near extinction. But its power has been dwindling in the past two hundred years and the occult has been rising again. The New Mages Guild or The White Moon has risen in the poorer parts of Las Vegas. While the Order of Supernatural Beings has split in to three groups The Vampiric Council who have split the Strip with the Dark Nighters aka daemons. The werewolves have mostly withdrawn from society living in tribes in the wild. But still some roam the poorer districts forming into a small tribe called the “Triple Sevens” or 777. The 777 have allayed themselves with New Mages Guild rather than the rich and powerful Vampiric Council. The old war is brewing again as rivalries are reviled. But on the sidelines the inquisition is gathering again in the outskirts of Nevada. As the old Chines curse says “May you live in interesting times!”
The Factions:
Vampiric Council- Formed after the Great Parting. Every vampire who is made is an instant member, though they start very low in the hierarchy. The number of vampires is strictly controlled by the high council. The most number of vampires there can be at any one time cant exceed one thousand. This number restriction is due to the council fear that they might be found out by ordinary men and suport for the church would increase again. All vampires are ruled over by the high council who are picked members from the small council every ten year. Vampires can live forever if not killed at some point. Are much stronger than any human and can run as fast as a cheeta at top speed but cant maintain it for long. They have some weakness to crosses and holy water but those cant kill them only leaves them in great pain. A stake through the heart, decapitation, fire or the sun are the only things that can kill a vampire permanently. Garlic has no effect on them nor does silver. They don’t have to be invited in to buildings to enter them. They need to at feed at least five times a month otherwise they go into a coma. They can only survive on human blood.
Triple Sevens- A werewolf gang made mostly up of illegal immigrants from different parts of Latin america. Theye are not all werewolves but anyone in any higher position is. The gift as they call can be administered by any member of the clan but not by any other werewolf who is not in the gang as they hunt down any werewolf who doesn’t want to join the gang effectively making them the only werewolves for miles. There are three stages of werewolf evolution Stage One lasts two months and is called the wild phase when the werewolf has no control over his actions in the wolf state is stronger than a bear but more agile and faster than a wolf and regenrates all normal injurys quickly. Stage Two lasts four years the werewolf can control itself while affected by the moon they’re strength and speed grows also. Stage Three They can change they’re shape at will at any time and are stronger and faster than vampires. Werewolves are not immortal but they do have longer life spans than normal men sometimes living up three hundred years. They’re only and main weakness is silver it causes them sustain permanent unhelobol wounds otherwise werewolves in they’re wolf form are hard to kill as they regenerate from most things. In some cases even it has been noted that decapitation with an object that isn’t silver does not kill them.
Dark Nighters- The Demons are shaped like the mafia with a king on top. Under him is the Duke after him/her there are three Marquess under whom six Earls serve. All other minor familiars under those ranks do most of the Nighters dirty work and jobs. All these jobs are for life but if a important demon dies he will be replaced by one of these familiars. The current king is still Lucifer like its has been for many thousands of years. Demons power really depends on they’re age. As all daemons live forever they’re power grows yearly. A young demon (0-400) are resistant to fire, can change they’re appearance to resemble any human, can fly. (all previous apply to this one too) Middle age demon (400-2000) can control fire, turn invisible for a short while, are stronger than the average human, and a little faster than a horse. Matured Demon (2000-8) Stronger than a vampire or a werewolf and faster than both, resistant to most weapons. There are currently only four Mature Demons not including Lucifer. All daemons have mostly the same weaknesses which are silver and a very distinct weakness to holy relics, crosses, holy water. Younger daemons are all weak too most human weapons like guns and knives.
White Moon- The New Mages Guild was founded in Las Vegas in the early 80s. It is also led by a council but the mebers who serve on that council are always for life. There is a council member for each major teaching which are Elementalisem, Rune Mastery, Necromancy, Light and Dark Manipulation, Music and Dance Magic. People who show magical promise are accepted at birth and normally taken from they’re families at a young age or sometimes straight from birth. Only a one person in every million is born a magician though if two magicians have children they always have the power. And if a mage has children with someone powerless the line continues 25% of the time. Currently there are over nine hundred mages in North America and about five thousand still live world wide but the head quarters are still hear in Las Vegas. Though smaller schools and hold outs have opened up world wide they are not as prestigious as the American school. All wizards are weak to all the things normal people are weak to. About Magical Abilities:
Elementalisem- The power to control all or one of the elements(Fire, Air, Earth or Water). Normally people choose one element to consecrate one because it takes huge amounts of consternation to control any element. The easiest to learn but hardest to master is fire. Water requires the most control to handle but when mastered is always the easiest to use in any situation. Earth isn’t hard to learn nor master but its power is quite average also. Air is the hardest to both learn and master but the most powerful as air is common everywhere. That is why there are so few people who have ever mastered all the elements people normally master three elements but get stuck on air.
Rune Mastery- The power of the written runes. These spells only work when written down in sentences.Tthat’s why runes are learned separately and not in unison even run s on the same pages sometimes causd dangerous things to happen. Rune Mastery is only used in magical arhitecture, weapon making, robe or armor making and magical inventing. It takes quite a while to master and is not as respected as some others paths of study but is a essential part of the guild.
Normally combined with alchemy Rune Forgers make the wands, staffs and swords that some wizards use to concentrate they’re powers. Rune Forgers also make the magical robes and armor that some mages employ for protection. Rune Builders (who are the fewest in number) build and maintain the headquarters and other magical buildings around the earth. Rune Inventors make robots run by runes, make new rune combinations and search for old magical artifacts.
Necromancy- The power to raise the dead as skeletons, zombies or ghosts. As with elementalisem people usually concentrate on or two of these power as mastering all can take enormous amounts of time. Necromancer are a little feared but no ast disrespected as popular culture would suggest. Skeleton reanimation is the most common as it is easiest to master and learn. The power of the reanimator determines the power of the skeleton. The most powerful in this field can conjure up dead wizards with the abilities of magic still remaining to them. Zombie reanimation are a little harder to master but conjuring one zombie is easier than conjuring one skeleton wich makes it easier to learn in the begging. Powerful necromancers can summon zombie made up of thousands or more bodies these are normally quite huge and full of diseases. Finally ghost summoning and controlling is the hardest to learn but once mastered is the easiest to use. Ghosts are the best spies and most frequently used for this purpose also a ghost is the only one of the three that remembers its previous life and can talk about it. Ghosts of ancient wizards are quite usually reanimated for teaching purposes. Though ghosts cant be summoned forever as it takes some power to hold them in this plain of reality. The most powefulr ghost reanimator can make a ghost solid and practically human these kinds of ghosts are called poltergeists by the general public.
Light and Dark Manipulation- Light manipulation not only controls the brightness of a place but is also used to heal people and its main usage is against the vampires, demons and werewolves that it was created to destroy. These spells are wery common in they’re uses and once they were the most studied magics of all as these were the magics used to fight the Order Of Supernatural Beings. These are the holy spells meant to push anything inhuman out of the body it inhabits and push them to a plain of existence were they came from(these don’t wokr ok, skeletons or zombies as they are meant to be on this plain on existence). Dark Manipulation is the opposite and used to be the magic of betrayers as its the magic that takes human souls from the body and pushes them out of this plain of existence. It also controls the ability to become invisible and poison people with a touch. Also in old times a dark manipulator could heal and regenerate both vampires werewolves and daemons. Though in present times it is allowed for mages to practice Dark Manipulation but it is heavily controlled and if someone does decide to learn it they are disrespected quite heavily.
Music and Dance Magic- The most ancient of all the magics. And among the first to be used by early man either to summon rain or to sing the plants to grow quicker. The magic of music and dance has always been and changed weary little. This does not mean that it is weaker magic by any means Music mages can control people with they’re song, make plants grow faster, . Master music mages can control a hundred people in one song, grow a large forest in seconds . One is chosen in the begging of the study as Music and Dance is the only magic that prevents the uses any other magic as learning it will make the user completely magic resistant. Dance mages can control the weather, , a sort of physical fighting magic is also used by them. A master dance mage can control weather in a city size area, or defeat 100 men with a single dance.
