Altaea Saga: Song of the Ancients IC
A fantasy RP set in the world of Altaea.
A mysterious woman appears, drawing unlikely allies to her as she embarks on a pilgrimage to the ends of the world. Her purposes are unknown and the path ahead uncertain. Pursued by enemies and shadowed by sinister forces the small band of heroes will find themselves face to face with a truth older than history and uncover the dark secrets that lay at the heart of the world of Altaea.
The plot will begin in Obsidias, an island nation ruled by the largest school of magic in the world, the Nine Spires. Following the death of the previous Archmage of the Nine Spires his successors are engaged in a power struggle for control of the school. To that end they have organised a tournament and are enlisting the aid of any who might lend aid to their cause with the promise of great rewards.
Of course things will progress from there. There are plenty of options for characters. Anyone with a reason to be in Obsidias could be part of the cast, from mercenaries, pirates, adventurers, scholars, travellers or slaves.
- Typical rules apply (No Godmoding, keep actions in character and avoid metagaming.)
- Characters should be 'ordinary', for the most part with realistic abilties. Magic and supernatural elements will emerge as the story unfolds to increase their impact.
- Players should be prepared for the consequences of their actions. Characters do not possess 'plot armour'
- Please make an effort to maintain a high level of grammar and spelling.
- Posts should be a minimum of 1 paragraph.
- Players should be prepared to post at least once every 3 days. Failure to do so without good reason will result in a warning. 3 warnings and your character will be removed from the RP. PM me if you have to leave for an extended period of time so that we can make arrangements.
- Make sure every post moves the story forward in some way. I reserve the right to move scenes forward and will try to give ample notice.
Appearance: (Preferably text though accompanying pictures are welcome.)
Skills and Attributes:
Name: Eria Milleulle.
Aliases: None known.
Summary: A travelling priestess.
A young woman of around 20 with pristine, snow white skin that gives her the appearance of a china doll. Her peculiar golden eyes hide behind the fringe of her long, flowing straight hair which is tinged with green. Despite her odd appearance she is beautiful, with soft, youthful round features. However her beauty is marred by her constant world weary expression, as though the weight of the world presses down on her shoulders. Standing five foot five, Eria is svelte, with an hourglass figure.
Eria dresses in a simple white cotton dress that is split to the hip on one side to allow ease of movement. Otherwise the dress is modestly cut, with a high cut neckline and long, billowing sleeves that hang down over her hands and obscue them from sight. Over this dress she wears a thick grey travelling cloak made of tough material. Nevertheless after her long journey it is tattered at the edges and coated in a thick layer of grime and dirt. To maintain her modesty Eria wears thighhigh stockings of white cotton and her hands are wrapped in white cotton gloves that expose only her fingertips, fastened by a crisscrossing of gold coloured thread around the forearms and wrists. Around her neck and face she wears a thick scarf of soft white silk embroidered with gold patterns. She uses this to obscure her face, wearing it loosely around her neck so that it covers her mouth, nose and ears.
Over her shoulder is slung a simple cloth sack made of bright colours in bizarre kaleidoscopic patterns. At her waist, fastened around a simple gold coloured cord belt is tied a pouch of gold and a small ornamental dagger.
Skills and Attributes:
Eria is a normal woman in most ways, having little apparent experience in warfare or the occult. She is however a highly intelligent woman with wisdom beyond her years and a great deal of knowledge in a variety of subjects.
Cynical and jaded with a dry wit, Eria is hard to get along with. Her aloof attitude, along with her quick and caustic wit makes her a commanding presence, despite her lack of personal skills.
Eria's jaded nature and apparent maturity and knowledge of the arcane hides an odd naivety at the workings of the world. She rarely speaks about herself, save to voice her opinion on current circumstances and events. She uses her sharp tongue like a sword, keeping others at a distance by belittling them. While she enjoys being listened to, she nonetheless prefers to take a back seat role, letting others make the decisions with her judgement and counsel.
A pacifist, Eria refuses to fight or take a life, no matter how desperate the circumstances.
She is a perceptive indicidual and some claim she is able to read ones mind like an open book. She has an uncanny way with people despite her brusque demeanour and often knows the right thing to say to get someone to act as she wishes. Some claim that she uses magic to sway minds, but Eria insists she is just good at diplomacy.
Utterly self confident she acts without hesitation, something helped by her apparently preternatural luck. Things just appear to work out well for her and she takes this for granted, appearing to act without a care for her own safety or the consequences of her actions.
Despite her worldly mannerisms Eria is a shy and modest individual with a peculiar naievety about her that suggests a life isolated from others. She can be rather stubborn and obstinate, refusing to deviate from a course of action once she has decided that it is the correct thing to do and will often argue over minor points.
