Personality: Starkad is a humble young man, tending to keep to himself well enough out of trouble. For the most part, Starkad can be found at his family Hall, the Inn, the Smithy, the lumberyard, or hunting in the forest outside the town. When he drinks more than his share of whiskey and mead, he tends to get rowdy and can start a few fistfights, some of which can prove most dangerous to his opponents. H
For the most part, Starkad is soft spoken. He is not overly shy, and is perfectly capable with conversing with the opposite sex, but having grown up with just his father and uncle, he doesn’t understand women in the slightest. Also, given his great strength, he fears hurting people on accident, be it an arm wrestling match or an intimate encounter with a woman. Unlike many Nords, Starkad holds no bigotry towards outlanders save simple distrust of strangers and his...distaste...for the Thalmor
Biography: Starkad is the lone living heir to the Long-Fang house, and certain expectations were placed upon him at a very young age. He had to earn his place in his father’s heart, as Strokvid’s wife was traded for the life of his son. Starkad started by hunting with his uncle, Surtur, in the forest and plains outside Miklagaard at dawn, bringing a well sized elk or two back to town to sell to the butcher. The Long-Fang boy would then begin working at the lumber mill, cutting down trees and cutting logs for firewood. It was through the toils of hard labor and the emergence of his great physical strength the broke cracks in to Strokvid’s stone heart. Starkad built a reputation for himself, quickly getting the nickname “Young Bull”, not only for his hard working nature, but his great feats of strength. At the age of fifteen Starkad underwent the Long-Fang traditional rite of passage - to venture to the mountains and hunt the Long-Fang sigil animal, the Saber Cat.
During his hunt, Starkad indeed found a large Saber Cat, having wandered unknowingly in to its den. By the time the Saber Cat was upon him, Starkad was too close to use his bow, and was otherwise armed only with a knife. The Saber Cat drew first blood, swiping across Starkad’s face, forever branding him with the mark of its claws. As the Saber Cat pounced, Starkad drove his knife in to the ferocious feline’s jaw, killing it before it could sink its fangs in to his neck. He skinned the creature, draping the bloody pelt over himself in the old Long-Fang fashion, and returned home to claim his right as a true Long Fang. Once considered a man by all rights and definitions in concern of his family, he took up an apprenticeship under Freki and Geri Ironborn while still continuing his work at the mill and hunting at dawn.
