    Default The 43 Hunger Games

Alright well the title should tell you all you need to know if you have read the books. However I will explain a bit more in depth.

This is a remake of The Hunger Games, and it is going to be an accurate portrayal of such. That means it will fit perfictly into the actual books. If you want to join you need to be aware of this, and anything otherwise will not be allowed. Please try not to talk about the books in any way of giving out spoilers. Now then for those of you who don't know tghe hunger games is a futeristic setting. The tale takes place in the country of Panem. There are twelve districts in the country of panem each with its own duties tasked on it by the Capitol. The Hunger Games are used as a punishment to the districts for their attempt at rebelion. When this happened the Capitol used its might and made an example of district 13, blowing it off the map. The Games themselves are as follows, 24 tributes, one boy one girl, from each district are thrown into an arena to fight to the death. Only one will survive, and the rest shall die. There is more to it than that though, there are the sponsors, who in the arena can be the diffrence between life and death, the game makers, who will kill anyone who angers them by trying to cheat, and the mentors who are resposible for when to send what to the tributes and how they are trained, finnaly the designers, who are used to get the tributes to look the part when they go on stage to wow the crowd for sponsors.

It was the day before the Reaping of the Hunger Games, and Markus had been talking up all he had planned. The whole capitol was a buzz as they awaited to see who they could be betting on. Which was quite popular, infact rumor had it the previos head game maker had rigged the games the year before because he had gained a LOT of money, although now betting was prohibited for Game Makers.

"Oh, I do hope we get a wily bunch this year. My first year has to make a big splash!" Markus said to Brutus, the head trainer of the tributes.

"I hope so to. I plan on retiring if we don't. The last good batch we had was in the 32 games." Brutus said with a sigh.

"Brutus stop. Ever since that year you have said every batch was poor compared to it. You only like that one boy who killed himself to save that girl anyway." Markus said getting upset. If Brutus didn't aprove of this years batch that would be bad. He had much more experince in these games, and his word carried weight.

"Sorry, Sorry my friend, I don't mean to dampen your spirits. This will be a great year." Brutus said realizing he had offended his friend.

"Thank you, now then I will see you after the reaping my friend there are still a few small details left to iron out before the games begin." Markus said leaving the room. "This will be a great year. I can feel it."

"Just three more reapings and I'm home free." Gil muttered to himself as he swept his dark hair from his eyes. "Just three years." Not that he ever thought he'd get picked. He only had a few names in there, didn't need the terasse the capitol offered. Not to mention his dad was mayor and it'd be bad press for them to pick him. Still, what if they picked his friends? Chad, Marco, or even little Emmie. He didn't think he could imagine a world without any of them. So just a few more years and he'd be in the clear. Still, he felt it harder to breath every day up until the names are read off. After all, we aren't [I]all[I] career tributes. His friends would be dead in an instant in the unforgiving arena. They just didn't have the eye of the tiger. Very few did, but 42 of them were sitting pretty right now. Still, he was paranoid, as one who knows his own luck. He knew how to make six different types of poisons and a malatof at a moment's notice.

Alice puts on her new white dress for the reaping, and pulls her long, blonde hair back into a ponytail. Just another reaping. Who will be picked this year? Her older bother's now 19, so she doesn't have to worry about him getting reaped, and her little sister is six.
"How do I look?" She asks her mother, turning around.
"Absloutley beautiful!" Says her mother, planting a sloppy kiss on Alice's forehead. "But now, it's time to get going... Toby is staying with your sister, it's just you this time."
Even though Alice is certain nothing bad will happen, her mother still had a worried look in her eyes.

Gil absently tossed a rubber band ball into the air. A luxury item, as some of the locals may call it. Something to entertain him while others did the hard labor. Lots of people resented him for his life of ease.

"Yo, Gil, suit up, it's almost time." Chad shouted to him as he walked into his house.

"I know dude, I was just getting something." Gil wasn't naive enough to believe that the odds were zero of him getting reaped. He was allowed one luxury item in the event he got drafted and he wouldn't waste it if. A weighted coin. He knew why, hope to your God that you never find out or you'll meet that very same God that day. He would have used a nail filer or something but that wouldn't get past the capitol.
His suit fit him well, and gave him a bulk that he didn't have to be self-conscious about. It was a grey blazer and matching pants, thin waist line. His hair was slicked back so he had a normal scope of vision for once.

Alice and her mom leave the house, and walk to the square, where everybody is meeting. She checks in with the Peacekeepers, and turns to her mom.
"I'm gonna go over with my friends, okay?"
Her mother grabs her, and pulls her in for a hug.
    "Mom, stop! People are staring!"
And with that, Alice leaves her mother, and walks over to a small group of girls in the roped-in area.
"Nice mom, Alice." Snorts one of her friends.
"Hey, she's just worried. You mean to tell me you're not the least bit scared? FOr yourself? Your brother?"
Alice's friend grows silent, and Alice joins in conversation with the rest of the girls.

Sure, it was hard for Gil to grasp. Soon twenty-four unsuspecting victims would be shipped off to a sports competition. One would come out rich and famous. Infamous more like. Gil saw the looks on the faces of the townsfolk during the yearly victory tour. Contempt. Horror. Disbelief. Why? Because they're being forced to renown a killer. A bloodthirsty victor. Unless it was a district four victor, but even then their contempt was only repressed by the shipments of luxury they recieved at their doorsteps for a full year. The only place a victor was truely loved was the capitol. But they were all perverse weirdos.

Gil stepped wordlessly in line with the rest of the boys. He saw Marco but neither of them spoke. They didn't want to talk until they knew they were safe. Marco gave him a smirk, which meant that he shook things up with his fingerprint, sanded off as an act of protest. Marco, the towns little rebel without a cause. He was an idiot in Gil's opinion. That is no way to go into the games if you get picked. Have the gamemakers gunning for you right from the start. Gil knew that the victors were always audience favorites. They were presentable, usually fairly attractive (hold the hainous crimes against humanity they commit to win), and the gamemakers had a certain fondness for them.

On his way to the square he could only think of a few things. First was that his mother would need him to buy some bread later on today, that wasting his one good pair of pants was not worth going somewhere and not getting picked, and that the square was way too far away. In the end he only had 12 entries, and with the size of his district, it didn't make a difference. He would just stand there and wait as he saw two kids go up, cry a bit and then get sent off to their deaths. The weather wasn't that bad either, a nice sun lit his way to the square, and in his hand he had a small medal with a wolf in it. The only thing his father had bothered to leave for him after escaping District 3. Crixus fixed his hair and then walked into the square, looking up at the stage he saw a heavily body-painted man with blue and white designs on his face and hands. That would be the one choosing his fate.

Gil's eyes are vacant as he looks into the towering screen at the middle of town square. District three's about to be picked. Staggered times and all that jazz. Districts tributes from one and two were the usual. Ruthless, nasty, and not all that bad looking. Career tributes were a breed that hadn't a shortage nor any danger of extinction. Of course, some argued that four was the same way. Gil never agreed with that. The last few tributes were measily little twirps who couldn't swing a sword to save their life, quite literally. Gil figured it about time to get another sloppy win by four. But oh lord don't pick Marco, he'd revolt, protest inside the arena. Kill everyone and then off himself to rob them of their precious winner. Guy was nuts, that's why Gil trusted him with his life.

People were lining up on stage to begin the announcements in a while. Theoretically it'd start in around fourty-five minutes but there was always some sort of delay. Gil looked over to his left, to the girl's zone, and met eyes with Emily. Don't pick her. Please don't pick her. Gil thought rapidly. She had way too many entries. Wouldn't take handouts from anyone and worked nearly all the time. Gil knew her from school the year prior. She couldn't hurt a soul. She was just the kind of rag-tag kid they would put on the stage for eye-candy before shooing her away onto her deathbed.

Markus arrived at the training center. "Well what is this emergince we have? Well?" he said as he stormed into the room. "Uh... two things, one the arena team is finished and ready for finnal inspection. Two, a gaurd has just died, and since he doubled as a trainer we don't have anyone to take his place." an attendant said quickly. "Ok here is what we'll do. Give me the files for the high ranked peace keepers in each district and I'll pick one. As for the arena team let them know I will be there in thirty minutes to inspect. That is all." Markus gave a dismisive wave as he finished and began walking around the training hall. "I hope the tributes don't go to the weapon stations too much this year. I want them to fight tooth and nail, so there wont be many weapons avilable. Not untill the feast that is." Markus then looked up at the clock. "Better be off." He said as he went to the elevator.
