    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

A loud shrill whistle over the bustling voices announced the time to finish boarding. The students gave one last goodbye to their families before, in a sense, jumping on.
“Well hurry on now before it leaves without you.” Analise, Evans mother, said to him, giving him one last hug. “Well, I can’t go if you keep hugging me like this.” He could hear his father chuckle, patting his shoulder. “Come on dear, let the poor boy go.” She finally released him, allowing him to board the train. “Remember, be careful!” Robert called to him.
“And stay safe.” His wife finished. Evan gave them one last wave before disappearing through the doors of the express.

By the time he had found the compartment with his mates, the Hogwarts Express was already making its way through the countryside. He slid the supposed right door open to find Riley and Abel locked in an arm wrestling match. Evan raised his eyebrow at them, quietly taking a seat. They haven’t noticed him yet, giving Evan some time to himself. His friends were the best, don’t get him wrong, but sometimes they could just be a little overwhelming.
Riley, who was currently overpowering Abel, was the cheerful and optimistic one of their group. He was always looking at the Brightside of things. He was muggle born as well, brown eyes and hair all. Abel, now scowling because he was slowly losing, was more of the prankster. All pureblood, with bright blonde hair and green eyes. Evan honestly didn’t know how they became friends. The first time he saw him, he was sure that Abel would have been sorted into Slytherin, seeing as to how his whole family before him was. Surprisingly enough, he was put into Gryffindor. Maybe it was because he liked to pull pranks on people….

The match was now even again and Evan decided it was probably time to make himself known. He faked a cough, slightly chuckling at the two as they both literally jumped out of their seats, startled. “Am I interrupting something?” He asked, smirking.
"Bloody hell Evan, I swear...every single time." Abel swore, pinching the bridge of his nose. Riley laughed, scratching his cheek. "How long were you there?" he asked.
"Oh a good five minutes or so." Evan grinned, getting up to sit on the other side of Abel by the window.
"So looking forward to this year anyone?" He was rewarded with two groans from his friends.
    "Don’t remind me" Abel grumbled.
"Oh, well it can’t be that bad."
    "Only you riley."
This year was the year of their O.W.L's. That meant no free time between classes and Quidditch, well, for Evan anyways. Usually the O.W.L’s were done during their fifth year, but that has changed. Mostly due to the fact that they were having trouble finding new teachers to fill in positions. Anyways, that free time was going to be used for 'studying.' Which he doubted he would get much done.
"To move onto less boring topics, have you heard?" Abel leaned in closer, as if he was going to reveal a deep dark secret.
    "Of?" Evan dragged on, waiting.
Abel leaned back. "The ministry of course" he scoffed.
"Nope." Riley answered, grabbing the newspaper off from the seat beside him. Abel wacked the backside of Riley's head at his reply, shaking his head.
"You guys are hopeless…. The minister is going bonkers trying to organize enough groups to catch the Death Eaters still rampaging around... He’s also having one hell of a time arguing with most of his co-workers. Mostly because it’s getting harder to catch them. He thinks the reason why is because the Animagus are helping Voldermort’s ex-followers. You know hiding them and stuff.”
“What?” Riley exclaimed, eyes wide. Evan could feel dread fall to the pit of his stomach. If what was going on was true, he was going to have to be even more cautious than before.
“I know. At this very moment he’s going through the registration of Animagus, investigating them. If they are even just the tiny bit suspicious they are arrested. Those unregistered and caught are instantly thrown into Azkaban, no questions asked.” As if to prove his point the train suddenly jerked, causing some of the luggage to fall from above them.
“Gah, of course.” Abel sighed, moving to pick up the carriers. Riley also began to help but Evan sat there, his face becoming pale. “Buts thats just asking for another uprising…” He finally spoke, looking to Abel. His friend shrugged sitting back down. “You know the Ministry, a bunch of cowards the lot of them. They’ll always go looking for a scapegoat to blame their troubles on.” On that note, they all became quite, watching the scenery outside past by them.

I will be fine, he assured himself. The ministry isn’t going to suddenly arrive at Hogwarts… But for some reason, he still didn’t feel any better.

Before climbing onto the train, Penny could've sworn that she saw a glimps of her uncle. She looked back then, the hairs on the back of her neck standing on edge. But when her eyes landed on the place she last saw the figure at, it was nothing but a hustle of parents waving their children goodbye for the year. Shaking her head of the thought, Penny entered the train, Eryck padding behind her loyally. A few younger students were messing around; running all over, messing with magic candy they must've bought from the trolly, and using it against their friends. Penny couldn't help but smile at this, remembering her own moments when she did this herself. Making a licoric wand act real, chacing after chocolate frogs while trading cards she already had, and playing russian roulette with Bridy Botts Every Flavour Beans.
Penny hated that her friends had to sit so far back in the compartments. They acted so secluded from everyone else, which was going to make her job a lot harder. As she strolled along, the hallways began to clear because the train had pulled from the station. And with being the nosey person Penny is, she couldn't help but peer into some of the single compartments, wondering whom all decided to sit with each other, and where. She could keep mental notes on what to say around who, without offending a friend, or sibling. On her way, she caught the famous three. They didn't seem to realize it, but Abel, Evan, and Reily seemed to be the hotshots. Not only with their own house, but to everyone else too. Maybe because they had no idea. They stuck with themselves, and seemed loyal to each other as heck. But whatever it was, it kept her stairing a bit longer than usual, arching a brow as she saw Evan. Something made her jaw clentch down in irritation. Why? Who knew. They just hated each other. But, wasn't that how it's supposed to be? Slytherin's and Gryffindor's hating each other? Everything would be right with the world.
Before she was caught spying on others, Penny glided along her way until she finally found her friends, already cramped together and gossiping about something she really could care less about. Charlette smiled as she entered, and moved over to make space. Their animals hissed and growled, before claiming their own spots in the compartment for the rest of the trip.
"You took your good old time," Marilynn commented, arching a brow at her. For once, she seperated from her newest boytoy, Jake, and leaned in, in hopes for some drama.
However, Penny kept cool, telling the utter truth. "I'm not sure what you mean." She said with a light laugh. "I just got a little distracted. You know how I am with being nosey."
"Kind of like how you are, with shiney things," Charlette retorted, brushing her fingers through her light brown, curled hair. "Seriously. What's gotten into you?"
Marilynn huffed, snuggling back into Jake's arms in defeat. "Nothing. She's just acting weird, is all." She lied, arching a delecately plucked eye brow at who she considered a friend. Marilynn was beautiful, but she was so completely fake with everything that she held in her possesion - personality, beauty, actions - that it was hard for Penny to like her sometimes. In fact, Penny never liked the girl. But to survive in Slytherin, you had to have some sort of sharp angle, and shoving people's heads into the toliets, or throwing spells at each other in the library.
Someone entered their sectional, and everyone but Jake and Marilynn looked up. "Adam." The two girls said in unision. He was such a douche, but everyone pretended to like him. He was very attractive; crisp, thick brown hair, strong jawline, and had pretty eyes. However, he was such a jock, that you just wanted to slap that dazziling smile right off his face.
"Hello, ladies." He wedged awkwardly between Penny and Char, paying no attention to Prince Charming and Cinderella as they became all mushy around each other. Adam threw his arms over their shoulders, and began talking about the year. How they were going to kick butt on Quidditch, that the O.W.L.S were so 'dumb' and some over the summer thing that seemed to captivate Char a bit more than herself. However, when he asked Penny if she was going to be Seeker this year, she couldn't help but pop up in interest. "Of course." Thinking that he was going to continue, she started up again, "But I think Gry-"
"Hey!" He faced Char fully now, "did I tell you about..." And he lost her again. I'm surrounded by idiots. She thought gloomily. Penny had enough. She got up, grabbed her uniform that she still had to change into, scooped up Eryck, and headed towards the lavratories.

Now changed, Penny really didn't want to go back to the suffocating cubical. Too many unused braincells seemed to crush her into the corner. So, instead, Penny did what she always seemed to do. Grabbing her Island Grey Fox, she went to the middle of the train cart, and sat down in the small, open cubical. Three soft benches lined the walls, one being against a large, thick-plated window. Penny seated herself on that exact cusion, and leaned against the wall, stroking the calm animal in her lap.
So many things were boggling her mind at the moment, that she had the urge to scream. How could her uncle put her up to so much pressure? She was only in year 6, and she was working for the Ministry? Did he realize how much he ruined her by taking her into his house? He was a horrible person, and Penny swore that she wasn't going to have him control her. And look where you are right now, Penny. Doing everything he says, any moment of the day, when he asks you to. In all honesty, she'd rather be in Azkaban right now. Eryck growled lightly, as if reading her thoughts. Penny couldn't help but smile. A genuine one that didn't come up very often. How pathetic was she.

Evan turned just in time to see Penny pass by their compartment. No doubt she was peeking a glance at them. He scowled, standing up to finally release Alrvoy from out of his kennel. The black cat slinked down towards him, rubbing against his leg before squeezing through the door and disappearing. He knew that his cat was probably going to go cause problems with Eryck. In which case, he didnt really care.
Evan sat back down, opening a box of chocolate frogs and popping one into his mouth. Abel raised an eyebrow at him.
"You know I was saving those for later right?"
Riley snorted. "You mean for your pranks right? What were you going to do? Release them on the train?"
"Dammit Riley, Why did you have to go and reveal my plans?" Abel grumbled.
"Its not like you told me in the first place. Your just easy to read mate." Riley retorted, plucking a chocolate frog from the box in Evans hand. Abel glared at his two friends, taking one as well. "I hate it when you guys thwart my scheming."

By the time they had finished off the frogs, it was just beggining to get dark, the sun setting off into the distance.
"Hey, Im going to go change. We're almost there." Evan suddenly told the other two, grabbing his uniform. Riley waved dismissively as Abel lied down on his back, taking up the whole seat.
"Eh, go ahead. Im going to enjoy the freedom a while longer. Hate those things."
Evan smirked, taking his leave and heading down the narrow hallway. He knew his friend all to well. He was going to go pull a prank on some unfortunate soul before he went to change. Abel was going to use the fact that he was changing as his alibi. Though everyone will know that it was him.

Evan had just finished changing and was just exiting the lavatories, when, sure enough, he heard a loud poof and some cries. He looked up to see Abel running towards him, escaping a pink puff cloud that has now settled in the hallway. His friend was trying to stifle his laughter, pausing just long enough to salute Evan before quickly ducking into the lavatories to change. "Thats new" Riley said, walking through the pink fluff calmly. He stopped by Evan grinning.
"What did he do? I heard someone cry out." Evan asked him.
"He threw some kind of grenade into a random compartment but im pretty sure they were a bunch of Slytherins. Turned them pink it did." Riley answered, laughing. Evan chuckled as he watched him follow Abel in with his uniform. Yep, both defiantly were overwhelming.
He continued on down the hall, pausing as he heard a hiss coming from a little ways off. He could recognize that hiss from anywhere and followed the noise until he came upon a small cubicle. Peeking his head in, he saw his cat bristling at a growling grey fox who was seated in her lap. Evan leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms.
"Well, well, looks like Alrvoy sniffed out a snake." He spoke, announcing his presence. Penelope, the person he hated most since the first year, was sitting all by herself.
"And by the looks of it, she seems to be pretty lonely. Your friends finally ditch you did they?" Alrvoy turned at his voice and leapt onto his shoulder, sitting down perfectly balanced on the tall Gryffindor.

Penny had mangaged to fall into some in between land that was half day dreaming, and actually dreaming. However, the sound of a light explosion, summoning a girlish shriek - which Penelope was most certain that it belonged to the one and only Marilynn - awoke her from whatever sort she was in at the moment. She was then sitting upright, but a bit disoriented from the fog it set her mind in. The first thing she really noticed as she became more aware to things, was that the sun was almost fully set, forcing the dark blue, start sprinkled sky to blend with the last shades of purple, pink, and orange that was slowly setting over the light rolling mountains a far distance away.
The next thing that she truely was aware of was the laughter, and hard footfalls, then the light, very familiar voices of two young men. Right as she was going to listen in on what they were going on about, a lean, yet strong black cat padded into veiw, sniffing the air for anything that he could mess with. Right when the cat, Alrvoy, caught sight of his worst enemy, Eryck, the cat's fur stood on end, his back was arched, and he began to hiss. Eryck, who had fallen asleep much quicker than his owner, lifted his head at the noise, with his ears perked. He growled lightly for a moment, his body stiffened, and coyly watching what he'd consider prey. Though Penny had always tought her pets mannors, so Eryck never advanced on him, but his eyes deffinitly wished otherwise.
A light twinge of pink faded into the air as she peeled her eyes away from the jelous creatures, not very ammused by this anymore. They always did this to each other. At least no one got hurt by it. Only seconds later, did a figure appear behind his cat, as if he was behind, ready for backup. The sight was amusing, and strange all at the same time. When he commented about the cat finding a snake, she held back the twinge of pain, and replaced it with the same, shut-off irritation.
Eryck's eyes were trained on the cat, even when he leaped onto his owners shoulders, as Penny's eyes were on Evan. How could someone who was so unsettlingly attrative, be so. . . Arrogant, irritating, and rude? She couldn't help think of Adam. Looks never prooved anything. "You know," she said lightly, however, her voice was just dripping with something of a sort of distain, "someone who studies animals said they seek out more intelligent, worthy humans. You know, the kind with at least a bit of feeling." She arched a brow, allowing her fox to gracefully land on the floor at her feet, right before she stood up, a bit taller than she was last year. It could be the fact that she was wearing black heels (of course, Char and Marilynn's idea), but she did grow a few inches from her short stature. "And there is a difference between being alone, and being lonely. Besides," she moved a bit closer, peering around his shoulder to see the last bit of pink dissolve into the air, "it seems I was out, just in the nick of time." She moved back again, but was still closer than their normal three foot (at least) radious. "And green and black are my colors. Pink is just a bit too...." She arched a brow, looking up at the ceiling for a second before meeting his eyes. "Childish." The train became increasingly slower.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to grab my bags. Unless you wanted to turn my hair orange, or my skin red?" She paused only a second, before brushing past him - a bit roughly - and stalking past Reily and Abel, glancing at them for only a moment with an unconcerned look before she entered her own cubical, Eryck padding loyaly behind her. Right as she went inside, there was a tornado of screams, demanding where she was, and over-dramatic wailing about how the color will never come out. Penelope had said something, short, and quiet, but it was enough for them to shut up after whispering an unnessicary name behind her back. Ah, the beauty of girls. One second they want to do your nails, and have a girly sleep over, the next, they're slipping back secrects and making up lies about you. Two-faced doesn't even begin to describe it.

"I can arrange for that." Evan mumbled after her as she passed him rather roughly. He turned to watch her leave before looking back at riley and Abel who had just came out. "Pink? Oh and that was brilliant. You got Penny's slithery friends." He applauded his friend, grinning. Abel gave a small bow.
"Ah Why thank you." He dramatically replied. Riley gave him a light shove on the back, causing Abel to stumble forward.
"Yeah, Oh Great Magician. Brilliant." he smirked, "Now come on and stop blocking the way. The train had stopped if you haven’t noticed." He began pushing him down the hallway back towards their compartment to grab their things. Abel gave a light "Hey!" at being basically dragged down the hallway. Evan followed after them, shaking his head at his friend’s antics as Alrvoy curled up around his neck. "Good thing your still sane." He said to his cat, scratching behind his ears. Alrvoy only purred in response.

The three had un-boarded the train, things in hand as they followed the other students to the carriages. As usual, there was nothing there to pull it but that was normal. He kind of figured that they were pulled by magic in the end. He had stopped wondering about it a long time ago and just let it be. Evan stepped up into the carriage, sliding down the seats to make room for his friends and anyone else. Once the space was filled, they were off, the carriage creaking as it was pulled over the uneven ground. The three were silent, the other student’s conversations mostly filling the air. Evan looked out the window spotting the castle that was just coming into view. Their home for the next Nine months. He looked beyond Hogwarts, staring at the dark and cold forbidden forest. He wasn’t going to be able to hang out beneath the trees as often he realized. Evan was going to have to find somewhere else to transform. He’s been using the forest as his practice field while he was in his other form. It was difficult but he was getting better.
He was snapped out of his thoughts as they jerked to a stop, students quickly piling out eagerly for the extravagant dinner tonight.

Soon everyone was seated, besides the first years who have yet to be sorted. The ceremony begun and the sorting hat sung his introduction. Other than that there was no warnings given. There hasn’t been any since the end of the war he was told. The first-years all piled in, waiting nervously and anxiously to be sorted into their house. The first person to go was a boy named Tristan. He walked up as called and sat on the stool fidgeting. The hat had barely even touched his head when it immediately called out Hufflepuff. On cue, the Hufflepuff table cheered as he jumped up and basically ran towards them, quickly taking his seat. Evan had found the sorting ceremony interesting and exciting before, but now it was a little boring since he had become so use to it. Instead of continuing to watch, he looked out the window thinking, waiting for the feast to begin.

As Charlotte and Marilynn kept swearing unnesicary names, Penny decided to shut them out. She hadn't been with them more than an hour, and she couldn't stand their high-pitched, over sensitive, whiney voices. Marilynn was worst out of them all. Char was always a follower, and liked to gossip like no other. It helped a bit on Penelope's side, because it seemed every time she hadn't time to cover certain people, Char knew dirt on almost every single one of them. But, to be with Char, ment permission from Marilynn. Besides, getting on her wrong side was not a place you should be - as I've mentioned before. She's the difinition of a typical Slytherin girl, and maybe even worst. Which was very hard to overcome.
Once Penny came back to herself, and climbed onto the carriage being pulled by the death-looking, but beautiful Thestral. Still, seeing one reminded her of all of the people who had the misfortune of dying around her. One, was her own mother, but she did not want to get into that. No one knew that she saw these stunning creatures, and she liked to keep it that way. Most everyone thought they pulled themselves along with magic, but Penny hadn't gone a year thinking that, for her mother died before she came to Hogwarts. However, when everyone started chattering about how cool it was that the carriage pulled along all by its self, she decided to keep her mouth shut, and not be written off as a phsyco from the start. It wasn't till her third year that she found what the figures, apparently called Thestrals, were. She happened to be searching it at the begining of the year, and caught up with the one and only Riley. Strange yes, but at that point, only Evan had completely written her off. The others were just weary. Maybe it was because men didn't seem to be as judging as women seemed to be. Whatever the case, he seemed to know about them - whether he saw them or not, she wasn't sure, and felt like it wasn't her place to ask. However, he did know enough information, and the right books to look for to help Penny out, more than enough.
To this day, when Penny thinks about the Threstals, she can't help but wonder if he remembers that day as vividly as she does. Wonders when his thoughts about her changed into something of dismay, and hatred. She didn't blame him - if she had a true friend, she'd hate anyone who hurt them in some form or another as automatically as he did. Maybe even sooner. Still, she couldn't help but wonder about it all. Penny even considered that he might have talked about the incident, but from the looks of it, it either slipped his mind, or he didn't think it was important enough to share, because the others still hated her being. As did she - Evan, at least. As to why, was still a predicament she never overcame, to this day.

"That's it!" Marilynn said, a pathetic shrill in her voice, right as she placed her pink-dyed foot on the step of the carriage. "I'm going to ask if I can take a seperate trolly and get changed." Her eyes darted dangerously around to see if anyone would complain, or roll their eyes at this. "Char! Come, now!" Without hesitation, the pretty brunette hopped off, and followed after the very miffed Marilynn as she bitched about her issue. None too surprisingly, they hitched their own ride, and took a shortcut so they could be cleaned by the time the feast was served.
Professor McGonagall walked over, her head held eye, and her eyes stressed. "Does anyone know what happened to Charlette and Marilynn? It seems as if a prank was played on them." There was a short silence, and the Professor's eyes landed on Penelope, assuming that she'd be pink as well. "Mrs. Stone, do you know anything about this?" For a split second, she considered ratting her mortal enemy out.
Then she spoke. "No, Professor. I wish I did, though."
"Alright, then. Have a pleasant feast." Her eyes strayed on Penny, giving her a dodgy look before going on her way.

The sorting didn't take as long as Penny had thought, but she was greatful for that. A good ammount of children were placed in her House, though most of them looked like spoild brats. A few might be salvaged, but the odds were certainly not in her favor. As of now, Penny was wedged between Adam, and Jake, who seemed awefully friendly for two boys who had their eyes set on her best friends. What pigs. She thought irritatingly. Most of the time, she squelched a grin at dumb, dirty jokes, and tried to chuckle as they told boring stories that were supposed to be very interesting. Half way through, though, she blanked out, nibbled on food, and nodded her head when others did, laughed on cue, and mimicked any other facial expressions when it seemed appropraite enough.
These half hearted attemps died when Charlotte and Marilynn stalked into the Grand Hall, wearing their muggle clothing. Wonder how they got themselves out of that. Seeing the look on Penny's face, Char explained, "those were the only cloths we had that weren't already in the dormitories." She simply nodded, ignoring the gawking from the shallow boys. Both girls were wearing obsene clothing, that was highly inapropriate for a regular night at the dinning hall.
Penny ignored them for the rest of the night, eating a bit more vigerously, and pretending a baby carrot was Marilynn's head at one point. Ahhh, anger issues. You must love them.

(OOC : If you don't like that I added Riley into some of the history; just tell me. I'm okay about changing it back! I don't want to control your characters! Promise!)

As the ceremony ended the feast began. Wonderful delights of stuffed hazelnut ducks, glazed with just a touch of cherry adorned the table. For those who didn’t like duck, which included himself, chicken cooked in garlic and seasoning appeared right next to it, as if it was an afterthought. Surrounding the delicacies were vegetables of all kind, boiled and sprinkled with a dash of salt and pepper. Bowls of mash potatoes appeared and yams along with it, all baked in honey and cinnamon sticks, the skin just becoming slightly crystallized. Hot parmasian and garlic bread loafs were passed around eagerly as many already started serving themselves. There were foods he didn’t recognize as well, but he didn’t care. It all tasted great to him.
Evan took a chicken leg for himself, serving large amounts of yams and mash potatoes onto his plate. What can he say? He loves potatoes.
Riley noticed and laughed, shaking his head. "Got enough starch there?" Evan mustered a kind of a grin, shaking his head in response. It was kind of difficult to talk with a mouth full of mash potatoes.

"Hey! Ya gonna go out for Quidditch again?" A familiar voice asked. He felt someone wrap an arm around his shoulder, and he looked over to see Jygin grinning, leaning in. That was the team’s captain. A get in your face kind of guy. He's also a typical Gryffindor, well except for the hotheaded part.
    Evan swallowed, slightly choking.
"Of course! Do you even have to ask that?"
Jygin held up both hands in surrender, giving him a smug smile. "Hey, just making sure. You never know and I would be heartbroken if I found out that my favorite Beater was ditching the team."
"I don’t think that would be even possible." Abel chipped in, smirking. "You know how dedicated he is to you." Those who were listening in, bursted out into laughter, some even choking on their half chewed food.
Evan laughed and lightly gave Jygin a push with his arm.
"Oh get out of here before you start making a scene."
"Too late!" He chimed, walking back to his seat with a grin. To Abel, Evan threw a chunk of bread, hitting him directly on the head. "And for the millionth time it’s the team I'm dedicated to." Riley stifled a laugh as Abel muttered something, smirking. Evan ignored him, unable to hear what he had said anyways.

The feast disappeared, calling to the end of the dinner. Then their Headmistress addressed them, telling them that of course, the forbidden forest was-forbidden- and all that good stuff. With a wave of her hand and a few parting words she dismissed the hall, students getting up and scuffling out to their dormitories. The three followed their group out, joking and talking animatedly about quidditch with the others. Most of the questions were directed at Evan of course. When they arrived at the portrait of their fat lady, a perfect pronounced the password to her. Though she didn’t open up right away, trying to get them to be her audience for her 'Opera" singing.
Evan sighed, stepping up to help the poor perfect out. "Dear lady your singing is as lovely as ever, and we would love to listen to you all night, but as students we do have a curfew and cannot." He could hear a few snickers behind him. "Ever the smooth talker." He heard someone whisper. His lips twitched in amusement as he tried hard not to smirk.
"Oh my! Why thank you! And yes that is unfortunate." Her portrait swung open, allowing them finally through. Entering into the common room he was given multiple pats on the back. "Evan you sly dog." He could hear a couple of girls giggle at the comment and he waved it off, plopping down onto a couch near the fire. Mostly everyone headed directly up to bed, while a few lingered about. Abel and Riley joined him, now conversing about classes. He half-heartedly listened, his mind elsewhere. Suddenly a pillow came into view and he automatically ducked, just missing a hit to the face.
"Earth to evan."Evan looked up to see the one and only culprit. Abel.
    "Uhh yeah?"
"I said I’m heading upstairs, ya coming with?" Abel repeated himself, raising an eyebrow. Riley had already left, as well as everyone else he realized, shaking his head. "Naw, not tired." His friend set the pillow down back in its proper place. "Alrighty then, see ya in the mornin'." He sang, walking up the stairs. Evan watched until he disappeared before briefly glancing at the fire and getting up, heading towards the entrance. Ducking, he swung the portrait open, stepping out and looking both ways down the hallway. Clear to go, he slowly closed the frame, heading off to the right.
"Now if I were a room of requirement, where would I hide?"

Penny was silent the rest of the night. Though none of her peers seemed to take note in it. They were all bashing and boastful, ready for the new year, and most certainly ready for the Quiddich to start up again. They all put down other people - whether they were from their own house, or not didn't really seem to matter right now. Everyone was full of gossip, and of course, with Penelope's job that she had to do, she was listening intently, that is, until she realized it was random stuff about who hooked up with who over the summer, where they went, what they did, and a awful lot of tacky flirting. And after an hour and a half of that garbage, none of it being of any sorts of interest, or would help her in this case, she blanked out, and ate mouthfuls of food, starving since she had skipped out on breakfast. And with being an athlete, she couldn't miss her three important meals of the day.
On the way back to the house rooms, Charlotte came up and nudged her lightly. "You seem out of sorts, what's up, chica?" Penny smiled lightly, realizing that she did like Char, when she was herself, and not influenced by Marilynn's choice of actions.
"I'm just fine, Char. Just a little tired. Besides," she added, seeing that this might be the perfect time for an escape. "I need to go up to the owlery, because I know my uncle has a letter for me, or will very shortly." This, actually, wasn't a lie at all. He would send her one each Monday evening, plus others if he had any more information, and this one was a scheduled notice. "So, tell Jake that I'll be out a little late. Not passed curfew though." She lied, before sneaking herself out of the group that filed into the common room.

A few minutes after she had escaped the group, and was wandering on her own towards the room of requirement, she heard a light panting, and a pad of feet behind her. Turning around sharply to catch whomever was following her in the act, forced her expression to change into confusion. Not a figure, but a fox with a wagging tail. "Eryck." She said with a chuckle, bending down so the fox could meet her outstretched hand. Penny stroked his soft fur for a short moment, before continuing on her way. Once outside, just a hall away from her best hiding place, and waited.
It wasn't long before a beautiful, cream colored owl soared into her view, and expanded his wings so he could halt on Penny's arm gracefully. "Hey handsome." She murmured, stroking the birds feathers softly. He hooted and nipped at her fingers lovingly. "Get out of here, scoot." With a light wave of her arm to give the owl support, he flapped his wings, and disappeared to his alcove with the other owls. "This better be good." She said to no one, unfolding the letter as she walked towards the Room of Requirements, scanning the letter for anything interesting as she was on her way. Eryck padded along side her, sniffing the ground and air as he went, not catching anything out of ordinary as he went.
By the time Penny made it to the room, she had caught most of the letter, which was saying the same thing as what they went over the day before, and the day before that, and every little tidbit that she had to listen to over the summer. There was a bit of new news, so Penelope snuggled into an old couch near the far corner of the room to read about it. Eryck snuggled at her feet, resting on the couch as his owner lounged next to him.

Evan could say the least that he wandered about for a good hour. He would have thought that the Room of Requirement had never existed in the first place if it wasn’t for his mother's stories. She had come upon it on accident when she was searching for a place to practice potions in a quiet and safe environment. Ever since, she has gone back countless times. It was her secret hideout.

When the room did finally appear to him, Evan didn’t realize at first, passing right on by. Pausing just as he was about to turn the corner, he turned, staring at the large metal double doors.
"Well hello there. Nice of you to finally show up." He spoke, moving to grasp onto the handles. "Now let’s see what you got." With a push, the door cracked open, large enough for him to slip through. It wasn’t what he expected. The room was set up just like a warm little cozy common room. It wasn't what he needed, until he realized that he wasn’t the only one occupying the space. All curled up on a little couch in the corner of the room was Penny. He stood, staring at her in surprise. He didn’t expect to see her out past curfew out all. Not to mention in the room of requirement of all places. It turns out this little adventure was a waste. Anyone else who knew about this room could come in on him at any time while he was in his Animagus form. Proving that this room would be useless as a secret practice area. He was about to turn right back around and leave, when he noticed her reading something. And oddly enough it caught his interest. What is she up too? Penny didn’t appear to notice him yet, which is strange seeing as it was kind of hard to miss a giant door opening, and in which that proved all the more that she was defiantly up to something.

The door closing itself, Evan stuck to the wall, making his way over to penny on her couch. Despite that it was crammed in the corner; he still managed to slip behind, though without having to crawl onto his hands and knees.
"Hello." He finally spoke, popping his head over the couch and looking over her shoulder at the letter she was reading. Evan couldn't make out any words, the writing too small for him to read. Bringing up both arms and resting them up on top of the couch, he leaned his head on his hand, still trying to get a good look at the paper. "Wat’cha reading?"

A direct approach isn't a good way to get someone to tell you what they’re doing, especially if you just pop up out of nowhere suddenly. Evan, though, was more curious on how she found this room. Was she actually in need of it? Well, it’s possible. Whatever she was doing it looked like the room was willing to help her out.

Penny became engrossed in the part of the letter that she didn't know much about. She knew automatically that the letter had a spell cast on it that would look like a warming note from a caring uncle - long, loving, and it was surely not written by him. Her uncle most likely had them write up whatever she couldn't read, and then he wrote the true words over top it. It took a bit to create this idea, because they needed a blood contact each time they read the true contents of the letter. A light drop of her own blood was dried in the corner, and opened up for her eyes only.

I heard about the shenanigans on the train, and I hope you get down to who decided to pull that awful prank. It could lead to some of the more trouble leading kids, and you might actually pick up something. Anyways, what I needed to add is that we've found out more information on animagi, and how they work, and how you might be able to sight them in their human form, no matter what creature they form into you. That information will be sent next Monday, because it seems as if a few of my workstaff thinks that it isn't as important as I think it is. Further more, I want you to write back with a list of names within the week for people that you think...

The sound of a light, inquiring voice poked up behind her. She couldn't help but let out a small, surprised scream, rustling Eryck from his spot, and forcing him to stand up on the couch, and growl at the intruder. When Penny realized who it was, she pressed herself away from him, realizing how close they were in proximity to each other. "Evan? How in the bloody hell did you get in here?!" She demanded, ignoring the question that he had asked her. To be honest, she didn't really hear the whole thing anyways. Without thinking, she folded the piece of parchment and held it tightly in the palm of her hand. A million questions ran through her head; How did he get in here? Why was he out so late? Why didn't she hear him?
"Haven't you ever been concerned that you'd end up giving someone a heart attack one day?" She asked, her eye brow arched as she tried to keep herself calmed down. By freaking out, wasn't going to help explain herself even more than the trouble she was getting into already. But, since he was in here too, she could ask him questions that made just as much sense, to get him off her back. Speaking of his body, it was quite close to her, and she could smell the cologne, or maybe that was just a natural scent for him, that lightly waft into the air around them. And if she could smell him, they were certainly closer than the normal range, and at the moment in time, they weren't staring each other down in a death match. So, for Penelope to be able to think a bit more clear, she stood, facing him, where he stood behind the old, red velvet couch. Eryck still looked very hostile, so she flicked her wrist, commanding him to stop. And he did, suddenly looking bored, as he plopped back down on the couch to rest as his owner did her own think. Penny crossed her arms, arching a brow at him. But at this point in time, she was so tired, that she couldn't keep up the whole act of hating him. She seemed more wanting to know what she deserved to know, and much less "i want to kill you, I hate you with every fiber of my being" type of thing she used to do.
