STORY

Here's the original idea:
Some lunatic decided the world didn't deserve to be, and decided to attack it with their own form of super weapon: A giant mechanical beast. The whole world is now threatened by this mechanical monster as it slowly eats the land, country by country, and destroys them within the mechanical workings of it's stomach. The world, and potentially universe are at risk if someone doesn't stop it [which is harder than it seems, since it doesn't have an off switch]
Here's how I lengthened it:
Too much money, too much time alone, and too much hatred led the evil, British Count Désiré to want nothing more than to rid the world of itself. He felt that the world he was in was a waste of space, and like a field set aflame, the world could rebuild itself to a better state after everything that was ruining it was destroyed. To accomplish his goal, he spent many years of his young life on the moon using his wealth and smarts to create a large mechanical beast that he intended to set loose onto the world, letting it eat all the people and man-made creations you can think of until there was nothing but Earth. It was set up so that once within the confines of its belly, if you managed to get out of the destruction zone, you would be put to the test to see if you're one of the worthy people left. Animals had already been sorted through and were living in various areas of the monster's belly in simulated areas meant to mimic their habitats. They would be the first of their kind to set foot on the "perfect, new world" and they too would restart their races as well. After the beast had destroyed all that was unnatural, Count Désiré and "the chosen ones" would remain to rebuild the planet to its "proper state."
As soon as he released his creation, it seemed the world was doomed. The beast could eat so much at once that it virtually ate the world country by country. It was too strong to be destroyed, and hardly even had the potential to be dented. Anything that it ate would smashed, pulled, torn to bits, and then sent off into space to do nothing more than protect Earth through it's destructive ring, preventing extraterrestrial help from coming in as well. It was big enough to be considered its own planet, even, and simulated all of the key parts of Earth, so even if everything went wrong and the world was no longer livable after his "cleansing," the count had a back up plan. To top all of this off, the beast had no off switch or self-destruct button to make for a simple infiltrate and destroy plan.
There was one drawback to his beast, however - the monster moved extremely slowly. It was able to move fast enough to take people and buildings down without providing time for them much time to run away, but it would be a full year before his creature would eat it's last meal. This simple mistake has provided the world with a sense of hope, and out of it many heroes have been both born and lost in their attempt to save the world from complete destruction. Will the newest heroes band together and save the planet, or will they fall to the same destructive fates as those before them?

First of all, yes, the villain is a Brit with a French name. Second of all, if it's alright with you, I'm planning on making a hero, but I'd also like to take the part of the villain. If you're down with this, then I'll allow you to make a second character [an arch nemesis perhaps? Maybe Count Désiré's sexy accomplice? Or a hero gone sour after losing to Désiré once before? I dunno whatever you want] so that we can both have a shot at both sides of the story :3 Besides, having a good meanwhile here and there makes the story more interesting and fun to write.
