The Elven and Human races once ruled over the world, baring half of the planet each under their separate governments. After the Legendary Artifacts of both species were stolen - the Silver Circlet of Truth for the elves, and the Golden Gauntlets of Power for the humans - they both declared war. While both species fought one another, the true perpetrator was that of the Dracon - a separate species with a desire to rule over the entire planet. Elves and Humans now no longer exist, and Drakia, the long-standing Queen of the Dracon, now bares the only royal blood and both artifacts. Legend has it that there's a third artifact, however...an artifact so powerful that even the barer of the other two will undoubtedly fall to its strength. It is the Sword of Wisdom, a blade as mysterious as it is magical. This blade is said to only be willingly wielded by the chosen one, and to anyone who attempts to wield it otherwise is afflicted with a terrible curse - an incurable disease known as wainism - that turns you into the monstrosity known as a Wain [the disgusting combination of a werewolf, vampire, and zombie].
There's plenty more to the specific storyline, but that's the jist of what's going on in the world.
WHAT'S HAPPENED THUS FAR...
Toby ran away from five pursuing assassins from Drakia because he stole an important stone from Drakia enabling her to be immortal, called a Soul Gem. Xent got the pursuers to leave Toby be, and took Toby in after completing a couple errands. On their way to Xent's home, they were attacked by 3 strange Kender, Kender with magic arrows and the ability to feel fear. After dealing with that situation, Toby was poisoned and Xent tended to him, then night fell. Upon awakening, that day was simple and sweet at first, then Daal'nyea - Drakia's court wizard - found Toby and Xent, and attacked the lone Xent once the opportunity arose. Xent was forced to reveal herself as Vren'ya in order to save herself from him, first revealing herself as a female Dracon to readers as well. Anyway, Toby and Xent were forced to leave her home and go back to Xent's long time boss, the dwarf Armiados, for refuge. As a thank you gift, while Xent'ax bought some new armor, she also "bought" Armiados a special crossbow of Elven origin. From there, Toby and Xent went to get some food for dinner, and Xent revealed that she was female to Tobias, and Toby revealed that he was a Dracon to Xent'ax (then they had a water fight XD Oh cliche romances). They headed back and prepared to eat within Armiados's home - an underground abode - where they found out that the dwarf had been keeping an adopted refugee son - Dri'aal'is, a cursed Dracon who's appears in the grotesque between-human-and-Draconian form. Xent's original plan was to go this alone, but Toby's insistence forced her to her senses and rather than go on a suicide mission, she began to form a small party to achieve a seemingly impossible goal: To assassinate Drakia. Armiados and Dri'aal'is agreed to join alongside Toby and Xent, and they all shared information as a way to show their trust.
After this they all get ready for bed. The next day, after a bit of squabbling, Xent ends up sleeping in for a little while after a strange and terrifying hallucination of Daal'nyea and thoughts about her past. They all end up working for the day, however, and when complete, Xent asks Armiados permission to take the day off so Toby, Dri, and her can all eat together. Dri prepares a meal for them all while they discuss their next plans:
STEP ONE - Get more allies and train a little in order to build strength, teamwork, and trust.
STEP TWO - Kill leaders of Drakia's allies in this order: Goblin King, Troll Lord, and Orc King.
STEP THREE - Go to see if the Sword(s) of Wisdom are even real, and if more than a legend, use the third artifact to take down Drakia. If not, then head straight for Drakia and make new plan of action on the way.
After agreeing upon this, Armiados finds himself in the company of an old friend, Serafine, requesting a replacement blade. She appears far younger than she actually is, mentioning that the last time she saw Armiados was 50 years ago despite appearing not even that old. Armiados agrees to reforge her blade and even offers her a place to stay meanwhile, which she accepts.
How to Sex: Werecat addition!
BACK TO THE REAL ACTION...
The next morning as Dri is preparing breakfast, he decides to reach out and goes to wake up Toby and Xent. Him and Xent have a chat while Tobias is asleep, Dri cautioning her about how a Dracon and a werecat is foolish, in it's own right. Xent didn't reveal anything, but had certainly gained Dri's trust and they shared a moment that forever changed their opinions of each other [which shows later through the story]. As time rolls on and breakfast is eaten, Serafine is introduced to Tobias and Xent'ax. Everyone takes to Serafine kindly, and actually, she ends up agreeing to join their cause. While Dri discussed with Serafine, he heard a noise from his father's room, finding that Armiados was nearly murdered in cold blood. Serafine rescued him, however, repaying the favor of him saving her 50 years prior. Meanwhile, Xent and Tobias went to talk, to be alone, and Tobias took Xent to a cliff to share a beautiful view with her. While discussing their relationship, however, Xent had a serious panic attack that caused her to pass out for quite some time.
Critias is introduced and Daal'nyea gets a room at the Inn behind the scenes. Wootles!
WHERE WERE WE AGAIN? OH YEAH...
Daal'nyea ended up on the same cliff with Xent and Tobias, claiming he was there peacefully, but the timing couldn't have been worse. Toby and Xent suggested they meet again in two days, but Daal'nyea said it wasn't possible because he was sure to be hunted by Drakia by then, and that if he died, so did the information about Armiados's assassination. This information forcing them to cooperate, Xent agreed to meet Daal'nyea again at dawn the next day. Toby and Danny shared some angry/cocky parting words [depending on who was talking, ha] and then they headed back to Armiados's underground home. Serafine's dream reveals to the reader what happened between her and her former love, Gareth, that landed her in Drakia's clutches whilst Xent and Armiados also got some sleep, and Tobias and Dri made important conversation about the night's events. They learned the assassination weapon used was of Orc craftsmanship, but nothing else seemed apparent other than Dri's weak emotional state. So reluctantly, everyone went to bed.
Fuzzball meets Danny [Phantom - jk] and a rivalry forms.
"IN A FEW HOURS THE SUN WILL RISE" ~Tristan Tailor
Xent awoke and pretty much immediately went to go see Daal'nyea. It becomes revealed that they were once lovers, but the moment is cut off by Critias attacking. A huge battle wages and Critias [or was it Drakia? *cue evil music*] ends up using an ancient magic as a last resort, thus leaving Daal'nyea seriously injured, and Xent in a state of paralytic shock. In order to get to them in time, Serafine uses the confusion of the moment and reveals to Dri and Toby that she's a phoenix [Armiados learned earlier when she healed him] and gets them to the cliff Xent and Daal'nyea are on faster than they'd ever have hoped on foot. The group [save Armiados] all reunites and Xent goes to Serafine for comfort as Dri and Toby debate back and forth with her about whether or not it's worth it to help Daal'nyea. Xent begs them to do something for him, claiming he tried to save her when the werewolf flipped out and attacked them. Xent's in the dark about the fact that Critias and Daal'nyea agreed they'd battle before, make it appear real, and Daal'nyea's merely mentally upset that Critias nearly killed him when they agreed not to do such a thing. Either way, the plan worked and Daal'nyea found himself in the care of Xent and her companions, as well as a potential ally, but not without further discussion. Before everyone got there, however, Critias fled the scene after leaving the unconscious Daal'nyea a note from Drakia herself, heading back to his home village.
Critias and Wren sittin' in a tree...K-I-L-L-I-N-G...
THEY SEE ME ROLLIN'...THEY HATIN'...
Armiados set up a cart ride for everyone to save them from the questions they'd undoubtedly get if they were to simply waltz back in [I mean, the whole city could hear Daal'nyea's cries, it wouldn't be shocking if people saw a flaming bird in the sky and put 2 and 2 together when Serafine entered the city, and then there's Dri...yup]. The dwarf decides that they best be headed up to a campsite he knows of so he can get the supplies he needs to make Serafine's sword. During the cart ride things are awkward, but it's obvious that Xent is worried for Daal'nyea, and Serafine and Dri'aal'is are extremely wary of him - they don't even trust him as far as they can throw him at this point. Soon after Daal'nyea wakes up they stop the cart and set up camp, where Toby and Daal'nyea walk off so they can bathe as well as see to Daal'nyea's wounds, and to leave Xent, Dri, and Sera to talk.
Xent practically begs the two to give him a chance, and when she feels there's no other way to explain how she knows he's to be trusted, she reveals herself as Vren'ya to Serafine. This causes Serafine to have a panic attack that Dri and Armiados help her out of while Xent goes off to find firewood, not wanting to hurt their situation more than she potentially already did.
Sir, we've got a visual on Target 2.310. He's in my sight; do I fire? Over.
Roger that. Get lock on 'im. Over.
Strike whenever you're ready. Over.
Pew pew! [those are hardcore gunshots by the way]
TRANSLATION: TOBY ALMOST FLIPPING DIES...NOT COOL BRO.
Serafine and Dri'aal'is discuss whether or not they should agree to trust Daal'nyea or not and Dri makes points for Daal'nyea, but then says he understands if Serafine disagrees and that he'll back her up whatever she decides. Then they hear Daal'nyea's screams so Dri sends Sera back to the camp and goes to check on what's going on, making sure it's what he assumes...and it is. Daal'nyea just needed to endure some pain in order to heal properly, so Dri, Toby, and Danny just make idle chatter for a while until Dri feels uncomfortable enough to be excused. From here, Daal'nyea and Toby discuss the Gem that Toby stole from Drakia, and Daal'nyea advises that Tobias destroy it when he gets a chance. Toby is worried the power of immortality might make him faulter, so Daal'nyea suggests that Tobias go to Dri for assistance.
XENT: HOLY CHEESEBALLS BATMAN DO YOU HEAR THOSE SCREAMS?
ARMIADOS: Indeed, you'll be oka-
XENT: AAAAAAARG MAAAAAI HEEEEEEAD!!!
ARMIADOS: Just calm down now, lass
I LIKE TO CALL THIS ONE THE CAMPFIRE SONG SONG...
Everyone gathers around the campfire for the night for dinner as well as to discuss their next plans of action. They start by agreeing that Daal'nyea will be allowed into the group, and that as much trust as possible will be extended to him in turn for his loyalty. From there, Armiados and Dri explain that this is to be a training trip in which everyone will build trust, will strengthen their bodies and minds, and will ultimately just prepare for what's ahead. Not much is discussed on this matter,
THE FIRST SERIOUS MEANWHILE FRIGGIN' EVAR...
Wren and Critias officially declare each other mates and begin discussing things that they've revealed to no other. They talk of equality, something absolutely insane in werewolf society, and even go so far as to make plans against Drakia in order to get Critias's little brother back. First, however, they focus on Wren's "purifications" in which she kills in order to "purify" souls, collect angels, and overall release stress. Despite revealing herself to be pretty much nothing but psychotic, Critias finds himself falling deeper in love with her. They go about their own business for a short while before they're seen together by some younger werewolves and reveal that they're in a relationship, even touch on their ideas of equality. Wren takes fancy in a young were-boy, Mendrii'l, whist Critias finds interest in a werewolf-cat mix, Mina. As Critias and Wren leave the children, they discuss their next moves. Critias has to go back to Drakia before his absence raises suspicion, and Wren decides to take over the equality speeches for a short while. While the adults are up to their own things, Mina and Mendrii'l decide to meet up with Wren at her hut the next morning.
BACK TO THE PEOPLE WE STARTED WITH...
Xent flips out because she thinks she hears a voice and goes back to camp pretty fast, which is later justified when Xent, Toby, and Danny all have the same dream. Xent is pretty skeptical about it meaning something, but Tobias and Danny take the dream as a sign that someone needs their help, potentially an elf [Verity]. Everyone discusses it and Toby and Danny feel pretty dead set on helping the girl. After a good nights sleep [well, a night of thoughts for Toby anyway] they wake up and do some training that goes pretty well. A few days pass of simply focusing on doing what Armiados asks of them and a few nights later the duo still hasn't done anything in regards to the dream. That changes, however, when they learn about Serafine's stash of Dream Tree leaves - the key to getting them to the dream world. But first...dinner.
Armiados starts the entire conversation by asking about what their next move should be, as well as informing them of tomorrow's training: A long run to their next campsite. From there, everyone eats and makes some small talk that turns into serious conversation as it is revealed that Dri'aal'is cannot transform at all, and that he longs to be able to fly away again. Serafine tries to comfort him but to no avail and everyone decides to come to a conclusion about their next move without the two. It's agreed that they'll all be going to a campsite that will be step one to getting to the Goblin lands so that they can put their assassination plans in motion.
Later that night, Daal'nyea and Tobias venture into the Dream World in order to find the source of the pleas for help, and find themselves in a maze. It takes some serious working through, but they get through it and end up in a strange ever-changing room where they believe they've found what they're looking for, but aren't quite sure.
While Danny and Toby "sleep," Serafine and Xent take some time to discuss things such as Vren'ya's past, apologies, and why Serafine even wants to take part in their plans to kill Drakia. Xent doesn't buy into the idea that Serafine actually wants Drakia dead, but Serafine says otherwise. Is it true, or just a ruse?
