Aster Pheonix (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...nixtalking.jpg) sat outside his dorm, enjoying the change in weather. It had snowed last night, and the water mage was taking in the dramatic change in scenery. What was before a beautiful expanse of green was now a calm white landscape. The large meadow in front of the Will-O-Wisp Academy was now covered in a cold blanket of snow, at least two feet deep. The forest surrounding two thirds of the school was also white, the snow made everything quiet and peaceful in the early morning. No one from his dorm was up yet, and he was honestly glad of that fact. He definitely wasn't the most popular kid in the Academy, his parents were extremely rich, and it was widely suspected that they had gotten that way illegitimately, and more than a few supposed that they had paid his way into the Academy. But they couldn't say he didn't deserve to be there, he was a hard worker, and was easily one of the best students of the Academy.

Aster's grey suite and hair matched the scenery beautifully, and his brilliantly blue eyes stood out amongst all the white. He enjoyed being alone, for most of the others at the school disliked him. There were a few people who he got along with, and a few people he was friends with. But it was probably too early for them to be up. His thoughts turned to Jess Blase, one of his best friends, if not his best friend. She was the first person to accept him, to see that he might not be a thief like his parents were suspected to be. He smiled as he thought of their friendship. He'd have to see if she wanted to hang out today, today was a day off, their teacher had other business to attend to, it had to be important if she was willing to give them a day off.

Miss Madeline, their instructor, was one of the five teachers at Will-O-Wisp Academy. There were about ten kids in each class, Will-O-Wisp Academy was famous for being the best place to receive magical training. It was hard to get into, and those who did were generally envied. Of course there were other places to train and get educated, but Will-O-Wisp Academy was the best among them. The next best place was a school on the water planet, Cassia.

Aster's thoughts turned back to the scene in front of him. He smiled as he saw a rabbit zoom across the meadow. He bent over, and scooped some snow into his hands. He may as well practice a little bit. Concentrating, he began to cast his spell. The snow hardened into a ball of ice, and it flew at a tree not too far off. It narrowly missed, so he tried it again. This time, it hit directly. The ball of ice shattered against the tree. Smiling, Aster continued to practice for a few minutes. He enjoyed this time alone, it was the time when he could think, and not be bothered by others. It was a time when he didn't have to worry about being scoffed at, bullied, or glared at. It was a time of peace.
