Race Name: Lemorians (humanoid ring tailed lemur-red-ruffled lemur mixes)
Origin/Kingdom: Iradis
The Kingdom of Iradis is located on top of a small plateau at roughly 1,500 feet. Lemorians generally find their own ways down from the hilltop kingdom to the lush valley below. Aero gliding is one of the most unique -and quickest- way for Lemorians to travel from the kingdom to the village below. An extensive set of stairs was carved into the side of the plateau apart from the trees.
The Iradisian kingdom does not have a King or a Queen, but a Chieftan and his wife. The kingdom's actual city has no walls higher than four feet. Smooth stone was used to build the castle and the surrounding temples and buildings. Vines grow along the walls, trees protrude from the roofs of most buildings and litter courtyards.
The trees in the Iradis capitol are by far the most beautiful. From the sky, purple, green, yellow, orange red and even blue leaves can be seen. A fruit tree is planted in every yard or even in the home. Canopies are generally hung from trees inside the home, but finding a bed of leaves is not that uncommon for the young or elderly.
The village is filled with leaf top buildings made of thick clay. Tree houses are common outside of orchards. Rivers carve through the valley, and often used for irrigation of crops and gardens.
Life Expectancy: Average age: 35; Oldest Age: 50-60 years
Appearance:
Average height (in feet): 5'4"; The tallest Lemorian was 5'9". Adult Lemorians weigh -on average- 95-100lbs. Lemorians come in all sizes and multiple colors, the most prominent being a white-orange combination. Moderately long ears pointed back and up towards the crown of the skull with
tufts of orange fur. Lemorians often have trade mark patches or spots of orange fur on their backs, stomachs, shoulders, knees or thighs. Multiple patches are common in some families. They have long, fluffy white tails broken by rings of orange fur.
Other color variations is black/brown, orange with a broken band of white at the base of their necks. Black and orange Lemorians lack the rings around the tails, and are generally solid orange unless the black fur on their stomachs is reversed.
Reference 1 (Albino Lemorians are very similar to that,
the ears are longer then shown in the pictures.
Attributes/Skills/Powers: The amount of magic Lemorians were once blessed with long since faded after centuries of battle. Very few Lemorians, however, who follow the strict teachings of their religion, are capable of using Healing magic.
A Lemorian's body is strong, agile and well developed. They learn to climb trees at a young age. They are capable of lifting things half their size with their tails alone without much endurance training. A trained Lemorian can balance themselves on their tail, as well as use their tail to fight, pick fruit, and grip onto branches. All Lemorians are supposed to be able to use their tail like another extension of their arms and legs.
Like humans, Lemorians have four things and a thumb on each hand/foot. Because of their active lifestyles for the most part, Lemorians are good at climbing and running.
Healing Magic: Lemorians have the ability to speed up the regeneration process for wounds.
Unlocking the magical potential for Lemorians is not an easy feat, which is why roughly a few hundred Lemorians are capable of using magic. Lemorians capable of using magic are held in high esteem, often considered mystics or sages, depending on their years of practice.
Culture:
Lemorian culture dictates that the land is meant to be respected. Prosperity from the land is a gift from their creator and because of that, every family offers their ancestors a feast on the summer solstice. It goes without saying that the Lemorians have a different way of life. Being at peace in their land, they know from the Legends that one day they will need to be able to defend themselves.
There are a few temples and shrines in their kingdom. The largest one is on the hilltop near the Chieftain’s castle. Hand to hand combat comes rather naturally for most male Lemorians. Because of that, they are trained with weapons and offensive fighting techniques. Women, unlike in other cultures, are trained to protect themselves and their children. Seeing a female Lemorian round house kicking someone in a fight is common place – even if fighting is generally not allowed.
Lemorians are free souls, living off the land as they feel is right. They generally deal with trades from other races and towns nearby and rarely will they seek out trade from other places unless their necessary is urgent. Everything else they could need is at their disposal. Medicinal herbs, food, pottery, clothing, shelter, even wooden weapons that they learned to harden with natural substances.
They are rather diplomatically primitive compared to other kingdoms, preferring for their lives to be simple with a sound structure built on respect. Lemorians are used to being looked down upon, often leading to verbal insults being taken to heart enough to cause violence. One such insult to a male Lemorians’ pride will lead them to show just how capable they are.
When it comes to fashion, Lemorians are bold to the point of lacking modesty. Seeing a teenage or young adult Lemorian in more than a few articles of clothing is rare. In their world, the more active and fit a woman is, the more inclined some Lemorian males are to mate with them for healthy children.
“I would rather live my life free as a bird, climbing in trees and skydiving then locked away in a dusty old city.” – Chieftain Sunda
