    Default [IC] Just Another Wolf Pack [PG-13]

    The white Alphess lifted her nose to the sky and took in all the scents, one scent in particular catching her attention. Her stomach grumbled and she took one last glance around before taking off deeper into the woods. She was alone. Just the way she liked it. Claidi tended to be a bit more on edge with others around her. But when alone, she had the freedom to think and be careless. With others, she was constantly worrying. It was her duty to keep her pack safe. If she didn't, she failed as an Alpha. She failed proving to all who doubted her that she can run a pack. Some thought she was way too cocky and carefree. She was going to end up getting herself and the pack killed. She was no more than a pup in their eyes. And really, they had every reason to think that. Claidi thinks of herself as the big bad she-wolf. Nobody messes with her. She laughs in the face of danger. She was "invincible." No matter how old she got and no matter how many cuts in her pelt, she was a fighter.

    She came to a stand-still, panting heavily as she took in her surroundings. She was close. She could almost taste the goat's blood on her tongue. Other scents distracted her, she was near a large farm. Her ears swiveled, taking in the sounds of the barn. A bit of drool dripped from her tongue. Oh, how she longed for a chicken or a cow. A cow was pushing it a little, they were hard to take down alone. She'd had a nice plump chicken only once, right off the table, fresh out of the oven. The townspeople were after her for hours. But it was definitely worth it. She found her self making her way towards the farm, she growled to herself. No.

    Her ears perked, something was moving. She quickly crouched and her yellow eyes peered through the brush and found a big splotch of white, moving slowly. A young goat, he was grazing. It wasn't a domestic goat. The townspeople didn't keep this type of goat. This goat was not fully grown yet, easy prey. Her muscles rippled as she waited. She was anxious. The goat was moving extremely slow, but with each step he got closer to the she-wolf. She dug her claws deeper into the cool dirt. Just a little while longer. She was surprised the goat hadn't noticed her yet. Everything was green and orange and brown, the colors of fall. The she-wolf contrasted greatly with her surroundings as she was bright white. Claidi grew more and more anxious as the seconds ticked by and soon enough she just got too impatient and pounced. She was airborne for too long, a stupid mistake, the goat had enough time to notice and flee. Her front claws just barely caught the goat's rear, but did little harm to the animal.

    The Alphess chased after the goat. As she ran, Claidi noticed the ground beneath her went from dirt to rock. Eventually, the goat skidded to a stop and let out a cry of despair. It had reached the edge of a cliff. In the back of Claidi's mind, she knew she had to stop, or things may end badly. But her mind was in kill-mode, she had no time to consider the consequences of her next move. With a snarl, she pounced. Her claws dug into the goats shoulders and her mouth enclosed around it's throat. The two plummeted to the ground below. The goat died instantly once it hit the ground.

    Claidi stepped off of her lunch and shook out her fur. She was unharmed, a little sore from landing on the goat so hard, but she was fine. After checking her surroundings, she began to eat her lunch.

    - - -

    Her paws thundered against the ground beneath her, feathers flew everywhere, leaving a trail. Men shouted and gunshots fired, all missing their target. Blanca was a black blur and the townspeople didn't have a chance, they would never catch up to her. Her golden eyes were wide in fear. She could die at any second, and that thought never left her mind. She could die at any second because she let her hunger get the best of her. Her little legs were growing tired, she was practically choking on feathers as she panted. The shouting was faint now, the townspeople were pretty far away. She had time to eat. Blanca dropped the chicken and began eating.

    Soon enough, Blanca was on the run again. Leaving a small pile of bones, blood and feathers behind. She moved slower this time, the shouting had stopped. She didn't understand why they made such a fuss over such a small creature. They had tons of chickens. What was the big deal?

    She slowed to a walk and took a careful around. This was somebody else's territory, she was a little on edge. The snapping of a twig caused her hackles to raise and muscles to tense. She growled a warning and looked around. A male stepped from the shadows. Black pelt and soft, yellow eyes. He could be her twin, only he was larger and older.

    "Who are you?" he asked.

    "Why?" Blanca snapped. The male's soft and kind gaze did not change even though she was being completely hostile. Ace was used to this kind of behavior. Claidi was his sister, afterall.

    "Why are you here?"

    "Why do you keep asking me stupid questions?!" Blanca snarled. The male just stared at her for a moment. They stood silent while he did. Blanca bared her teeth slightly.

    "Follow me," the male simply said before he turned and walked off in the opposite direction. Blanca stood, confused. What? She was not being very nice, yet he wanted her to follow him? She wasn't sure what to do. This all seemed kind of sketchy. But of course, curiosity got the best of her and she followed far behind the male, back to what she would soon learn was Claidi's, her 'long-lost' cousin's, pack.

    A grey shadow ran; it seemed like he was always running. The world around him, illuminated by the faint kiss of evening light, passing by in a blur of open forest hues, smooth and unhindered, accompanied by wind whistling through his bellyfur, a reminder of the friend who was constantly there. In the warmth of the sun, the give and take of life . . though no philosopher, this knowledge comforted Koujaku to some degree. Just enough to keep him pushing onwards no matter the odds or the circumstances. Massive paws striking the earth in steady repetition, mismatch eyes nursing their usual hardened gleam.

    No sooner had he scented the nearby uprising, than it was upon him like a monster in itself. Bullets whizzing through the air, above his head; whistling through the air, nicking patches of grass. Uneven, tenorous yelps escaped Koujaku, preceding a snarling rumble-- which preceded an attack of his own. Teeth gnashing at the nearest hunter's throat, securing a deadly grip on its exposed curve as his claws raked down his chest, tearing the fabric of the clothing and inflicting terrible gashes upon the hairy torso beneath. The man yelled and flailed, howled for his pack . . they were already there, though, clubbing Koujaku and firing into the air. Pulling at him, screaming, making hideous noises that grated on the wolf's keen acoustics.

    The butt of the rifle was like a brand against his flank. It struck hard, buckling beneath him, ceasing to support his weight as he stood upright terrorizing his 'prey'. Consequently he collapsed, leathery lips contorting. Rolling back from bloodstained cuspids, above which the mismatch relics danced, alit with bloodlust. For Koujaku, combat had always been fufilling. Even when it was to the death.

    In his seven years of existence, he'd had his fair share of dishing it out and giving it back. Therefore he was wholly experianced-- too smart to remain on his back for an instant too long, quickly rolling back up on his feet. Just in time, as the hunter he'd latched onto only moments ago, came at him with his gun drawn back like a baseball bat and his round face clouded in rage. There was fear in his beady eyes, though, and that reassured Koujaku. He knew fear made men stupid: an essential advantage.

    He swung; the black-and-white wolf ducked, ignoring the throb of his hindleg as he darted past the ill-aimed blow and sprang 'round, pivoting gracefully on a single hindpaw whilst rebounding off the other in the very same instant. Landing atop the man's back, claws hooking into his bare shoulders. The slope of his shoulderblades was an excellent handhold, one Koujaku relied on: applying his entire body weight, simultaneously reaching for the man's throat with his jaws. Gnashing, once more clamping firmly down upon it. Unlike last time, however, he held on, even as his 'prey' spun and jumped and did his damnedest to unbalance him, to pry him away and fling him to the ground.

    Using his hindpaws, he climbed even further up on the man's back, balancing now without the previous support his claws etched in the man's shoulderblades had given. It was difficult, to say the least, especially with the arse spinning and weaving like an effing drunk. And his friends weren't making it any easier.

    One of those so-called friends, in fact, fired their rifle. The bullet missed it's mark, though. Greatly, instead burying itself in the man's knee. Consequently a bellowing was emitted, and Koujaku once more dug in his claws, as they toppled to the ground together. Following the fall, however, there was blessed stillness.

    And he seized his opportunity.

    Snapping the man's neck with a thorough jerk of his head, mismatch orbs shuttering in satisfaction as the vertebrae crunched sickeningly in the unrelenting grasp of his jaws. The presence of death descended quickly on the atmosphere after that; the wolf raised his head to find the other men scattering, yelling and whooping-- only now it was in fear.

    "Damn right ya'll better run . . "

    In the forest near a small cliff was a wolf black as night, Astro, he was watching his next prey hunting a goat, he smiled slightly and slowly came out of the shadows. He walked down the cliff and to the wolf that had just finished eating. He smiled as he got closer to her, now eye to eye.

    "Hello wolf! Should we do this the easy way or the hard way? Your choice, make it fast or I'll choice for you!" he bared his teeth and smelled her a little, she would surely make a kings meal! He licked his lips and got ready to attack.
    ~~~~~~~~~
    Hachi was in the lake nearby the cliff having a little wash. Her fur soaking wet, of course Scar and Blade were close-by watching her. Hachiko came out the lake and shook her fur dry. Blade and Scar both smiled at her shyly, she ran to them and pounced on them both playfully. Blade laughed and began to play fight with Hachi while Scar stayed back and watched. He then heard a loud thud, he went to investigate and saw a wolf eating a goat, then saw a black wolf which was obviously not friendly. He quickly ran back to Hachi and Blade.
    "You two theres a wolf in trouble, lets go and help now!" the two immediately stopped playing and followed Scar. They pushed in front of the black wolf to protect the wolf behind. Astro laughed and bit Scar in the shoulder and barged him out the way. Then he went for Hachi, he went to bite her but Blade took the attack, the looked at Astro in an angry look.
    "You shouldn't of done that!" he barged Astro and the two began to fight each other. Scar stood up and turned to the white wolf.
    "Never, and I mean never mess with Hachiko as if you do Blade wont hesitate to kill you! Are you ok? Am Scar." he smiled then watched Astro and Blade fight with Hachi knowing that Blade wanted to fight alone.
    As Dusty awoke, she stretched and yawned. She didn't know how far she had traveled, but she was hungry and sore. She heaved herself off of the ground and looked around lightly. She yawned as she stalked off, scouring the entire forest clearing for anything that could either eat her, and/or hurt her. When she had confirmed that there was nothing there, she began to lightly prance through the thick forest, moving fast and easily. As her feet hit a more rocky, hard, textured forest floor she came to an abrubt stop. There, near the edge of the rocky drop-off, was a white wolf, twice her size. Her carmeal brown eyes darted from the wolf to her appearant lunch, a freshly killed goat. Dusty's mouth watered and every instinct told her to flee herself and grab what she could. But her common wolf sense told her different. Instead, she just settled down behind the bushes where she was well concealed, but she could be easily heard. The bushes make audible noice as her tail flicks a nearby one.
    tacit, i will post to you. And Sunlight, you're keeping Dusty as a year and 3 months old, correct? Just so i know how to correctly post to you once i can.
    The Alphess' head raised up from her prey, her good eye peered at the black brute in front of her. A snort-like noise escaped her throat. "You're kidding, right?" Her tone was sarcastic. She wasn't scared of this wolf, not even the slightest bit. Her muscles rippled, noticing the stranger crouched as if he were going to pounce on her. She bared her teeth and let out a menacing snarl; if a fight was what he wanted then a fight was what he was going to get. She opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted when she could no longer see the other brute, but the tails of two others'.
    Claidi recoiled in surprise. What? She didn't need saving, she was perfectly capable of handling things on her own. She was a big girl, she didn't need a hero. A soft growl rumbled in her throat when one of them spoke to her. "I'm fine," she snapped.
    The white she-wolf was not amused, her temper was slowly beginning to get the best of her. "Who are you and what are you doing on my lands?!" she roared, baring her teeth at the strangers, her hackles were raised and her muscles still tensed. She paid no attention to the other wolves fighting as they were of no concern to her . . yet.
    ---
    Ace stopped and listened closely, something was wrong. There was yelling and shouting, but it wasn't a wolf. The sounds were that of the two-leggeds. His companion stopped and listened as well, the sound of gunfire made her hair stand on end. They had come for her. She then heard snarling and her ears flattened against her head, she hadn't meant to cause trouble for other wolves.
    The black brute ran towards the sounds, he needed to know what was happening. Blanca hesitated, but followed. They arrived in time to see the two-legged men running away from another black wolf. Ace watched the wolf closely, he didn't want to say something to him and he turn and attack him. Ace lacked the brute strength that most males should have. Nobody really knew why, he just hadn't sucked up one of those genes. Claidi did . . big time.
    Blanca watched Ace stare at the other male. Ugh, really? The she-wolf rolled her eyes and stepped forward. "Hey . . are you okay?" She asked the brute, her voice was soft, kind, and a bit hesitant. Ace's eyes widened. Well that's just great. If he went all crazy on her, they were both dead.
    The black she-wolf took a few steps toward the male. "What are you doing?" Ace hissed in a low tone to the young female, whom he decided was mentally unstable. She looked over her shoulder at him and bared her teeth, a slight growl escaping. Ace stepped back and blinked, she had just given him the look, something Claidi was famous for. This worried him a bit. Usually wolves who were like Claidi, didn't get along with the white fae. Only once had she met another wolf like herself and they got along.
    The four wolves were split into pairs. Alani was with her brother, Conan. Razor was with his long time best friend Tahlu. The four knew eachother, but not all that well. They didn't travel together or anything. They just happened to show up at the same places on occasion.
    Razor and Tahlu had both her the cries, both of a wolf and man. Very rarely did one ever hear the cry of a man. Usually all that was heard when a man was present was a gun shot and then the cry of a wounded animal that bullet ended up hitting.
    Razor was on alert. He kept his head low and his eyes open as he wanted to investigate. Tahlu followed behind her friend, close behind so that she could manuver through the woods that she did not yet know. She heard those cries too, and could smell blood. Because she did not have her sight, her smell and hearing were intensified greatly. That's probably how she managed to get around a forest without getting herself killed, or even appearing like she couldn't see the tree 3 feet in front of her.
    Razor told Tahlu to stay low and to just follow so they could see what exactly was going on. The both of them could smell other wolves too, so they knew some kind of gathering had happened. As they neared they both moved lightly even though for Razor and his giant paws, that wasn't always the easiest.
    They eventually made their way into the clearing where this whole event had happened. Razor was stunned for the fact that a bloodied man who had had his neck ripped out layed before them. It was clear the killer, because that wolf appeared tired and was covered in blood on his muzzle. Razor didn't have any words to say, because it just wasn't his place in the first place. He just watched and saw another black male and black female approach. They seemed to be bickering a little. He just swivled his head to look at the bloody male, curious of what was going to happen next.
    --
    Alani and Conan were pacing through the forest. In search of what one might ask? Well, they didn't have an answer. Conan always let his sister lead the way and he just ended up falling back and zig zagging through the trees. He wasn't one for communication or even being close to another wolf either. So, he always took his place in the back just observing his sourroundings.
    "What do you think, Conan?" Alani shouted out to her brother behind her. She knew he probably wouldn't answer, but she wanted some opinion. They had just been traveling, like usual.
    Her brother did come up with an answer this time, as he seemed to pop up out of no where right behind her. "We should just keep going." He said in his deep and harsh monitone voice. Within seconds, he dropped off back into the trees.
    Alani did nothing but sigh and keep walking. She wanted to rest, to just not have to keep on foot like they seemed to always be. But, she knew that wasn't likely to happen.
    Suddenly, she caught a wiff of blood. What was it? Deer? Goat? It was some kind of livestock animal, that she knew. Her hunger and instinct made her legs pump faster and pushed her into a jog. Her brother, in back, picked up his pace too.
    Alani kept going, letting her nose lead her until she skipped to a stop before a cliff edge. She had almost done the same as Claidi and flung herself right off, but she managed to stop first. She slowly inched her paws to the edge to look down on a gathering of wolves.
    Conan joined her, wanting to see what was going on. He himself, even standing right above the other wolves and bloody goat, could barely get even the slightest wiff.
    The brother and sister edged closer to the tip of the ledge and looked down.
    "Claidi?" Rang Alani's voice in disbelief. At the name Conan's ears folded and a low growl sounded from the depths of his throat.
    koujaku
    No sooner had the black-and-white male lowered his head to begin digging into his meal, it was brought to his attention that he wasn't alone. Other wolves were in the area. Very close. Two, in fact, were approaching him. An ivory-furred female and a black male.
    Everything happened so fast. The female stepping forward, asking him if he was okay, what he was doing. White fangs flashing as the male tried to warn her off with a snarl, to no avail. Apparently she had guts. Bravo.
    "I'm fine." It was Koujaku's turn to show a little aggression. Muted, though, since he wasn't sure what the other wolves' intentions were, if the female's concern was really genuine. Nonetheless, his hackles still rose, hair stiffening to stand up along the ridge of his spine. "I'm gonna make a meal outta this human here . . " Guttural tenor trailing off, as the rustle of bushes and hushed growls in the treeline sounded. More wolves. Another pair, or at least it sounded like. Jeez. Redirecting his attention, the black-and-white male's mismatch eyes flashed inquisitively, training themselves on the female. "What're you doing?"
