    Default [M] Escape the night

“How dare that miserable old bastard sell my hand like I’m nothing, just another possession to be cast aside.” a shrill cracking young women’s voice exclaimed whilst twigs and grass fell victim to her heated heavy steps, anger bubbling throughout her tiny frame. Cinnamon eyes darted up at the pale moon that could barely be seen through the thick canopy of trees hung carefully overhead as the frustrated steps suddenly ceased. “How could you father...” the maiden whispered to the whimpering wind her tone reeking of a broken soul. The child’s beautifully broken expression sank into her open trembling hands as she released soft sobs , her straight ebony locks spreading like a fan over her face, the tears leaking forcibly from her eyes dripping through her fingers making a mislay rain shower , that soaked a spot in the earth below. A half crescent golden crown slipped nearly off the girl’s head as it leaned, when she felt it drop to her hairline she snatched it up in a wrathful hand than expelled it to the muddy puddle that laid in between the trees.

A deep sigh broke through the young woman's crying. A man stepped through the brush and walked slowly to he mud puddle. He picked up the crown and carefully wiped it clean with the end of his sleeve. He slid his stand of hair clear off his face and ran a hand through his long brown hair. He walked to the girl and placed the crown back on her head.

"Tell me, why do you cry?" He said softly as he delicately cupped her cheek and took a handkerchief our of his pocket. He slowly dabbed at her stained cheeks and gave her a small smile. "My my, you're far too beautiful to allow your face to be stained by such things as tears, my dear." He raised her face to look into her eyes, "Has someone done you harm?"

Once she felt the weight of her crown dropping back onto her head, she looked up and saw the handsome man standing before her offering nothing more than a gentle comforting smile and a handkerchief. She quickly wiped away the embarrassing tears that ran down her cheeks with it and returned his smile with a soft broken one of her own."I..I cry for my life sir that has been sold for land and gold."she responded softly in a soft voice.

Joseph raised an eyebrow, "For land and gold you say? My, what a shame. Such beauty sold for greed." He sighed dramatically and place the back of his hand against his forehead.

"It fills me with such sorrow." He smiled at the girl again, "Well if you have been sold into such a fate, why not just run away? A young girl like you will surely find a better home."

"That's why I'm in the forest sir...I'm running away to the next town."she replied in a sad tone as she made her way to her feet reaching her full 5'4 height as she straightened out the wrinkles in her gown and wiping away the dirt from her dress.

Joseph stood as well, "The next town? That's quite a ways away. Why don't you come to my home? I'll give you a good meal and you can rest." He said offering her his arm.

"It's the least I can do for a young lady in a predicament such as the one you're in. Once morning comes I'll get a carriage to take you to the town. Or you could simply stay with me." He said with a wide smiled.
