A Medieval Fantasy game with a darker plot. The roleplay's end will be
shaped by your character's decisions.
Darsamn is a primitive land with only basic technology and weaponry.
The world encompasses all types of terrain and, in almost all, you will
find the spark of human life. They live in small settlements,
relying on each other to survive the harsh seasons. If a village is
destroyed, the refugees often struggle to find a new home.
There is no absolute ruler of Darsamn; the people believe that, should
they need one, their God will select a King for them. Each village has a
mayor but their authority is often limited. Skirmishes against other towns
are rare - people live, cursed with the fear of their God’s wrath - but they
do occur. Refugees will sometimes give up hope and become bandits.
The world is still cursed by the flaws of humanity and few people are left
content. There are still rich and there are still poor. Heartbreak and murder
still ravage the land. Although there once was magic, its wielders vanished
long ago. Some curse at their God, call blasphemy to his name, but there
is no doubt to the reality of his power or existence.
Spoiler: Locations
The Sky
The Sky houses all the souls that haven’t yet reached heaven,
shining brightly with the many stars that lie stuck between the worlds.
People on earth will pray during the night, hoping that they cannot see
their deceased loved ones there, wishing them to already be with God.
The Muend Plains
The Muend Plains is the short expanse that separates the village of Tuos from the
Oakrush Forest. Many paths weave throughout the tall grass, but no one seems to be
around. The few animals are nervous, agitated, fleeing at the first sight of man.
The Village of Tuos:
The first vision was an array of ramshackle huts,
two-dozen thrown upon criss-crossed roads. It was the village of Tuos,
a settlement cursed by poverty and surrounded only by a few fraying crop
fields. The citizens seemed weak and thin, going about their day with apathy.
You see it now. The village is strangely quiet, a scattered cluster of homes filled by their sleeping owners. The daub-and-wattle huts are crudely made, a sign of poverty and lacking skill. Across the dirt-packed streets, a few corpses lay strewn. Their skin has taken a black tinge in the aftermath of death, their forms bloated by gases. A few people sleep on the edge of the road, wrapped in thin blankets and shivering in the chill of the night. They cough and tremble as the cold tightens its arms around their frail bodies. A hoe and spade are propped against a nearby house. One man sits in the middle of the street, clawing at his face and renting bloody gashes across his cheeks – his eyes stare at the sky and his throat gurgles; no words leave comprehensible.
Mansion:
The third vision showed a mansion in the Oakrush Forest,
surrounded by trees and glorious flowers, partnered by a gentle river that
ran along the building’s side. The man inside was plump and well fed -
clearly, a noble. The only other people in the house were his servants and slaves.
The mansion in question is a large, stone building; despite the air of expense, it holds a simple design. A gentle river – the same one you saw in your vision – runs alongside the East of the house, hugging its right-hand wall. There is a filled wooden bucket sitting by the water’s bank, yet it seems to have been abandoned. A clothesline runs along the opposite side of the house; with the night sky prevalent, it is empty of garments. The doors are locked and bolted; to those that can read, an attached sign warns nearby trespassers that they may be prosecuted should they linger. The windows on the kitchen are void of glass, but the shutters covering them are locked shut. The windows of the master bedroom, visible on the second floor, appear to be closed also. A balcony runs alongside the upper level, most likely used to view the beautiful scenery of the forest flora. Some of the trees have grown so close that their branches overlap the balcony, few attempts being made to trim them back. No sound can be heard from inside the home. The entire scene feels blanketed by tranquillity.
More locations will be added upon discovery.
There is only Heaven in the afterlife, a place that every person is capable
of entering. Access is not always easy nor is it instant. If one is to die with
an impure heart, they are forced to purge their sins and gain purity first.
To do this, their God forces them to oversee the world’s misery, viewing
all the hardships of the land at once. They can spend millennia in this
state, waiting and watching, until they learn empathy and regret their
previous sins. To the people of the world, they are the stars, hanging in
the sky, observing both the night and day.
Once they finally repent their way, their God will allow them entry into
Heaven. The longer they are left waiting in the sky, however, the
lower their status in Heaven will be.
Spoiler: The Sins
Lust/Lechery – excessive thoughts and desires of sexual nature. Gluttony – over-indulgence and over-consumption to the point of waste. Greed – excessive desire for material wealth and power. Sloth – failure to utilise one’s talents and gifts, and excessive apathy. Wrath – uncontrolled emotions of hatred and anger, and unnecessary violence. Envy – wishing others to have less than what is in one’s possession. Pride – the failure to acknowledge other’s good work, and excessive love of self. Doubt – the failure to have absolute faith in God.
You are a star, a deceased soul repenting your sins and waiting
entry into heaven… or, at least, you were. Suddenly, you find yourself
plunging down to Earth without reason or explanation.
As you descend onto the world and taste its bitter soil, a figure calmly approaches
you. He makes promises to get you into Heaven. Your life – or afterlife - is
hanging in the balance, and he seems to be the only one with answers.

Reason for death: Head trauma / Internal Bleeding Age at death: 35 Time spent watching the Earth: Three days.
Sin/s repenting: Pride, Sloth
Appearance:
Past Occupation: Shepherd
Personality:
Although she has a good idea of right and wrong, she is never motivated to put her morals into action. She is content to let others do the work, not caring if they make a good job of it or not. Despite her modest upbringing, it is obvious that she considers herself above working and takes most that she has for granted.
She questions everything, demands answers to what she doesn’t understand. Her mind is ignorant to the stresses of others, pandering to her own emotional woes (of which there are little).
Yet, as much as she is flawed, there are positive qualities to her personality. She was always loyal and honest to her husband and is tolerant of extreme temperaments. Never settling for silence, conversation rarely dies around this woman. Her heart melts in the presence of children.
History:
Lilei was brought up by her mother, the perfect example of a housewife, whilst her father tended to their crops. It was a simple life and an easy one. They rarely had enough food to last the winter but somehow the family always survived.
In appropriate fashion, she married to someone with barely two decades of age to her name. He was a simple sheep-herder, but her passion pushed him to try to be more. When his father – a wealthier man – died, there was the opportunity to take over his business. Unfortunately, her content husband refused. Ever since, she has harboured resentment.
While he works hard to maintain their lives, she complains about their poverty. She has become a stark contrast to her mother, a lazy woman who holds no appreciation for her lover’s labour. At times she will comment that such work is beneath her.
It’s no wonder that her husband delayed searching for her the night she was late home. By the time he reached her fallen body, it was too late to save her.
Magical Ability: To light a candle-sized flame at the tip of each thumb.
If you’re looking for more players, don’t forget to make use of all the features that RPA has to offer. You can submit your game to the Roleplaying Games Directory here and if you post here, you can ask the Staff to advertise your roleplay in their signatures.
Most importantly, make sure to apply for Roleplay of the Week!
Since you are a moderator, I assumed nobody else would give you this, and you always give it to me. So I am repaying the favor, no matter how pointless it is for me to do it. Still, can't let you forget all that!
Anywaaaays, save me a spot if you would be so kind. This is right up my alley. The sins of the human race, one of the few things in life is always an absolute.
Thank you Ru, for the sig of pure greatness

Reason for death: Beheading for Treason
Age at death: 27
Time spent watching the Earth: Five Centuries
Sins repenting:
Lust, Wrath, Doubt...
Appearance:
Past Occupation: Chancellor To a large city Mayor(?)
Personality: Busy body, always concerned with work and getting things done to her standards. Sharp minded and often comes off as a 'cold fish' because she has a huge problem separating work from real life.
History: Serenity was born nobility, raised a slave, and lived as A great Mayor's right hand, until her untimely death but that was a life time or two ago. After years of hardship and the life forced upon her by tradition she decided she did not wish to return home after her sentence was served. Instead she was given over to a great city to serve the rest of her life as the Loyal Chancellor, she accepted this roll willingly. Years passed and she served no one but him, faithfully and blindly. Her feelings for him were obvious but after one advance gone wrong they hardly spoke, soon after he moved on. In spite of his actions, while the kingdom was on the edge of war she stole away in the middle of the night with the enemies own Ambassador (a known murderer). The Mayor of course, was the one to catch them in the middle of their act... Treason and Conspiracy was shouted from the rooftops. She was charged, found guilty, and soon the cold metal rolled her head onto the ground.
Magical Ability:
Ability to summon a small Phoenix a reminder of where she came from.
ooc:Really hope this is okay?

Crazydawg, Sunlight, G; I can't wait to see the characters you come up with!
Kiall! This is a completely different timeframe! They don't even have magazines here xD
Giselle; she seems like a lovely character, but there aren't any Kingdoms or Kings in this world. It provides a basic summary of the land under the header 'The World of Darsamn'. If you could revise her history and occupation though, everything else is fine~
---
Also, this gives a hint to some possible occupations. Although nothing related to a monarchy is allowed, there are still authority figures and constables in each village.
Technology and weaponry is similiar to what a small town in a Medieval period might have had available. However, there are no siege engines or other large-scaled war equipment.
