The world of Pokemon has long been known as a a world of peace. While an occasional threat might arise, there has yet to be anything that the world can't overcome.

This time, the world may not be up to the challenge.

Twelve years ago, a light came from the direction of Mount Silver, the mountain that separates the Kanto and Johto regions. The light eventually engulfed the entire world, blinding human and Pokemon alike, and then it vanished as suddenly as it appeared.

And the world had changed.

The entire world had suddenly transformed into a giant wasteland. The lakes and oceans were polluted, and it became impossible for water Pokemon to live in their natural habitats. Grass Pokemon slowly began to grow sick. Other Pokemon began to grow feral, making travel between towns extremely dangerous.

Despite this, people tried to rebuild, just as they always did after a disaster. This time, however, would be different. Eventually, people with much more malicious intentions started surfacing with the belief that the world would remain as it was, never to return to its former peaceful state. Violence of all sorts- robberies, murder, and gang activity took a sharp increase. Now, people not only had to fear the wild Pokemon, who now occasionally attacked towns themselves in large groups, they now had to fear their own kind. The people had believed that the Pokemon League would come forward and protect them, but this was an illusion, too. The Gyms had suddenly been deserted not long after what would come to be known as the Change, the whereabouts of the Gym Leaders and their followers unknown. It was clear that the League was still active- Pokemon Centers and the storage system were still very much in effect. That was the only other sign of their existence. The Gyms themselves either became gang hangouts or shelters...and people began to lose hope.

Even Pokemon Trainers were now few in number. Most Trainers had either been killed not long after the Change, or had retired in order to better support their families, or simply for their own safety. There are some brave- or, as some might call them, foolish- Trainers who brave the wastes, hired as mercenaries to protect others on their way to other towns or other such odd jobs, since the League was all but gone. However, there are Trainers who maintain a purpose- they seek answers. Why did the Change happen? What brought it about? Perhaps, if they find the answers, they can return the world to the way it was before...

So, to summarize- the Pokemon world has been turned into a wasteland. An incredibly dangerous wasteland. The world is nothing like it used to be. Gone are the fun battles and knocking wild Pokemon out. If one wishes to survive, they must be prepared to kill- be it Pokemon or person. The League has seemingly abandoned the world, taking official battles with them.

This RP will take place within the Kanto and Johto regions- the regions where Pokemon Red/Green/Blue/Yellow/FireRed/LeafGreen, and Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal/HeartGold/SoulSilver took place respectively. I will allow newer Pokemon (Ruby/Sapphire and on), but I don't want to see someone rock up with only fifth generation Pokemon. Keep a focus on the first two generations.

Also- Trainers are allowed to carry weapons. In fact- your character doesn't need to be a Trainer. Since Pokemon have become feral, people have come to mistrust Pokemon slightly. Even Trained Pokemon are capable of turning feral, suddenly giving in to their instincts during battle, so Trainers may desire to carry a weapon of some sort.

It should also be noted that catching Pokemon is MUCH more difficult to do now that Pokemon are much more dangerous. It will take a highly experienced Trainer to have a full party of six Pokemon. This means that not only that everyone wont have a full party, it also means that characters wont be catching a new Pokemon every other post.

RULES

1. The GMs' word is law. Currently, Preach and I are the GMs of the roleplay.
2. Legendary Pokemon are not allowed, under any circumstances. Not even a fleeting encounter.
3. There will not be any canon characters; that is, characters established in the anime television show or any of the games. No Ash, Dawn, Lyra, Evan, Jesse, James, Giovanni, or anybody related to anybody who has a face and a name in the established series. Although, the gym leaders, champions, professors and nurses do exist; it's just that only the nurses will make an appearance.
4. Please PM your character sheet to either me or Preach. Sheets posted in the OOC thread will be ignored. Once your sheet is accepted, it will be added to the list below. If you wish to edit your sheet, PM me and we will discuss any tweaks you have in mind.
5.While this is a much darker version of the Pokemon we know, that doesn't mean you can take it too far. Keep swearing to a moderate level, keep romance to PG-15, the usual rules for a non-M rated RP.
6. No flaming, power playing/godmodding/ect. If you do, you might find your character suddenly crushed by a Snorlax that somehow happened to fall from the sky (for we know how to do that in character) not to mention the other trouble you'll be in.
7. If you are going to be away for awhile, PLEASE let either of us know. The previous GM left the RP for a very long time, almost leaving a player in conversation with a character that could not respond. We don't want that.
8. When posting in the IC, state the location of your character at the top of their section of the post. This is to prevent confusion and to help track the movement of everybody's characters.
9. All posts are to be written in the third person perspective. That means you only use personal pronouns in dialogue, and refer to your character as someone who is a different person to you.
10. As GMs, we hold the right to change these rules as we see fit. As such, it is in your best interest to check back here occasionally, though we will generally inform you within the OOC thread itself of any additions.

COMBAT RULES

1. When fighting a player character or an opponent that either I or Preach states is important, instahitting is not allowed. The player must state an attack and wait for a response on the opponent's part. At any other time, you can instahit/instakill opponents. Ask me or Preach if you aren't sure.
2. All combat is real time and does not conform to any kind of game logic. Your Pokemon's ability to take hits and deal them is not determined by any sort of number, and there is no turn-based aspect at all.
3. Your Pokemon can use any move that it can justifiably use, and so they are not limited to a total of four. For example, a Charizard may use moves like fly, fire blast, strength, dragon rage, will-o-whisp, but not something like explosion.
4. Self-destructing moves cause Pokemon death.
5. Your Pokemon is not limited to established moves. For example, in addition to using known moves, a Pokemon can simply hit, kick, burn, trample, and otherwise hurt an opponent through mundane means, so long as it is in the abilities of the Pokemon. For example, Charizard can breath fire and so can burn opponents, Dratini can't punch or kick. This also applies to the abilities of the Pokemon. Slowpokes can summon rain with a yawn, Gallades can tell what their opponents think, Hitmonlees can stretch their legs to twice their length, etc, etc.
6. There is also logic to be had in combat. For example: in the games, Magnemite does not have the ability Levitate, but we can all safely say that it doesn't touch the ground and so won't get hurt by a tremor. Starly has the ability Intimidate, but we're not seriously going to say that a tiny bird like that is going to scare anyone into throwing softer punches. Take a Pokemon's Pokedex description into consideration to make the roleplay a little more realistic. All descriptions can be found on serebii.net by searching the Pokemon.

The story so far...

The world has truly become a different place since the Change. Gone are the peaceful days of living side by side with the creatures known as Pokemon and travelling between towns without incident. Now, if one wishes to survive, they must be willing to do whatever is necessary to accomplish this goal- even if it means killing Pokemon that have given in to their primal instincts and turned feral.

Because of this, cities are now heavily guarded by those who are highly trained in the art of combat- be they sharpshooters or Pokemon Trainers, a rarity in this day and age. When the need arises, these guards are the first to rise up and take action to defend their city.

Saffron City has little need for guards. Despite the harshness of this post-Change world, Saffron is one of the very few cities in the world that manages to almost maintain its old ways. While nowhere near as active as it was in previous years, the city enjoys a relative peace, aside from the occasional attempted robbery, as Shaun, Dusky, and Deron learned the hard way. However, they also proved that it is possible for people to fend off such attacks and defend themselves, even in such harsh times. The thugs were defeated and allowed to flee...but what the trio were unaware of was that the thugs were later killed by a pair of Team Rocket members, who revealed to the soon-dead thugs that the entire reason Saffron enjoyed such peace was because Team Rocket secretly held control over the city...

The very next day, three ex-Silph scientists working in an apartment on samples of rain water came to the conclusion that it was filled with Grimer poison, which renders soil incapable of supporting plant life. It was a step closer to understanding how the Change destroyed the world, but it was a short lived celebration: the Team Rocket pair attacked the scientists not long after the discovery was made. Jumping from the window, the scientists made half a daring escape. The other half was spent trapped under the body of an abnormally large Abrok, which belonged to one of the Team Rocket members. The public display caught the attention of Shaun, Deron, Meg, and the newly arrived Marcel. The Rockets were defeated and fled, leaving the scientists alive and one weak Pokemon in their place: a Blastoise. More specifically, the assumed-dead Blastoise that Deron lost as a result of the Change, so long ago...

Viridian City, however, has need for guards. In a recent case, Mina, aided by Haru and his Meganium, along with another wandering mercenary, ventured over to the nearby Route 22 in order to find a Tyranitar and its trainer, who they believed were the source of a recent earthquake. However, when they arrived, they didn't have long to talk- the group was immediately attacked by a pack of feral Houndoom. Afterwards, Haru and Mina were approached by a mysterious man who rather forcefully insisted that they come with him. The mercenary and the Tyranitar's Trainer had seemingly disappeared, and due to the man's overwhelmingly large force of heavily armed soldiers, the two had no choice but to come with them. Once they finally arrived at their destination, Haru and Mina were greeted with a surprise- they were now underneath Viridian Gym...the base of Team Rocket, who were supposedly destroyed years ago...

Things aren't much better in Johto. In Ecruteak City, everything seemed peaceful enough...until a mysterious man appeared in town. Had anyone taken the time to observe him, they would realize that he seemed to be being pursued, but no one paid much attention to this- at least, not until the man threatened to blow up the entire Dance Hall after being attacked by a lone Gengar, who disappeared not long after. However, the man and his Pokemon were contained thanks to Garrett, Lily, and Cathy. The question still remains as to who that Gengar belonged to, and why this man was in town in the first place. The bomber was locked up, but escaped using one of his two remaining Pokemon. Outside his cell, he was confronted by a man who was pursuing him, and seconds later, by Lily and her Pokemon. Garrett, Cathy, Neji, and the newly arrived Brendan helped to incapacitate the bomber and took his Pokemon, while his pursuer left the scene, only to return with the Gengar at his side and the intention of taking one of the bomber's Pokemon. A fight broke out between him and Garrett, resulting in the death of Garrett's Xatu. The one known only as 'the Gengar man' was knocked out soon afterwards and tied up, but the Gengar took what looked like a Pokeball from his belt and fled into the city. Pursued by Cathy and Brendan, the Gengar threw the ball at them, revealing that it was a gas grenade of sorts. The grenade was aborted and the Gengar killed, leaving everyone puzzled. Everyone, barring Neji. While the fight took place, a member of Team Rocket descended from the sky on a Salamence, snatching Neji and carrying him away, leaving his Pokemon in Ecruteak city.

Garrett, Brendan, Cathy and Lily resolved to find out what had befallen the once-peaceful town, and so decided to interrogate the bomber and the 'Gengar man'. It didn't take long, but their names were found to be Riley and Gregory respectively. Riley revealed a plot by the hands of Team Rocket (for whom he was recently employed) to hold the world for ransom with the opportunity to have sustained plant life again, using the powers of the Pokemon called Meganium. What was more, there was also the plan to use one specific Meganium to breed a cure for the feral condition under which so many Pokemon suffered. Unbeknownst to them, that specific Meganium belonged to Haru.

Goldenrod city did not fare as well as many expected it to. It immediately dissolved into disarray, owing to the gang violence and feral Pokemon attacks. The gangs of thugs set up a base in the underground tunnel, making civilian presence there impossible. The Goldenrod magnet train station was also taken over, although the last service terminated at its sister station in Saffron, isolating the criminals. The Pokemon Centre has become a home for sick and injured Pokemon, and the efforts of the single nurse, a new apprentice named Claire, are stretched ridiculously thin. While the healing machine was repaired, thanks to a generous donation on the part of Brendan, the Centre is still struggling. During the night, swarms of feral Pokemon charge out of Ilex forest and into the city, enforcing a do-or-die curfew. Isolated between the forest and the long road from the city to Ecruteak, Goldenrod has not been able to receive any sort of assistance.

Gregory committed suicide shortly after his confession, and his interrogators quickly decided that travelling to Viridian was the only possible choice - they needed to stop the Rockets’ plan, and they needed to rescue Neji. Setting off from Ecruteak at dawn, Garrett, Brendan and Cathy met Devon, who was travelling to Goldenrod also, and the four joined forces for the road, leaving Lily behind. Though they battled wild Pokemon, they arrived in Goldenrod in good time, and enjoyed a short period of rest in the city. Garrett and Cathy met a Master Coordinator called Ty'ko who had just defeated a feral Charizard. Meanwhile, a man known as Reckless had recently arrived in the city and become acquainted with Goldenrod’s resident Nurse, Claire, who also happens to be a good friend of Brendan’s. These people -save Reckless, who they have not been fully acquainted with- are now looking for a way to take the Magnet Train and travel to Saffron, so the first leg of their journey can be completed.

In Saffron, the situation was hopeful. The rescued scientists informed the team that re-taking the Magnet Rail station in Saffron would be a decisive blow to Rocket influence in the city. Shaun took it upon himself to round up a rag-tag team of trainers to attack the station, and the assault was launched at midday. The battle was in their favour, until the Rockets realized the serious threat the trainers posed and began ramping up their defenses with supplies kept in that station. As of now, the Rockets are holed up on the top floor of the station, leaving the ground floor -and the train- unguarded.

As for the Viridian captives -Haru, Mina, and now, Neji- they’ve been informed that Team Rocket has bred an army of Meganiums to not only provide a widespread cure for the feral condition, but regenerate plant life all over the Johto and Kanto regions. The only question remaining is the price the world must pay for it. The captives have also discovered that any resistance on their part will be met with lethal force...

If you would like to add any information to your sheet, such a piece of history, you can PM me and I will amend your sheet. You can't, however, give yourself equipment or Pokemon that you haven't already stated to be in your possession, with the exception of Pokemon that you catch during the roleplay and Pokemon that evolve; in which case I will amend the sheet myself. You can't give yourself equipment to overcome obstacles, but if you acquire something in character and would like it to be noted in your sheet, I will add it. Just PM me with a summary of what you want added, or a copy of the updated sheet.

Your character is allowed to have come from a region other than Kanto or Johto, but you must give a good reason as to why they left. Since the entire world is in the same state, there won't be much of a difference between the regions.

Again, no Legendary Pokemon are allowed. While they do indeed exist, water- and grass-type Pokemon are very hard to find, let alone capture. They are around because they lived in preserves or they were caught before the Change.

As a first preference, your Pokemon should be native to Kanto or Johto (that is, within the first and second generations, and any evolutions of those Pokemon in later generations) but you are well allowed to have anything not native so long as you give an explanation as to why your character has it.

This photo was taken a few months before The Change. Since then, her skin has become tanner, her hair longer, her clothes more ragged, and she has (obviously) aged. While 12 years older now, Mina still looks very much the same, albeit older and slightly more careworn. Mina typically wears a red, sun-bleached sleeveless dress with a black (also sun-bleached) leather jacket on top, with grey patches on the elbows. Her dark jeans have several rips and are quite faded, and are tucked into calf-high, scuffed black boots. She has a scruffy blue bandana tied around her neck which she sometimes uses as a facemask, scratched-up, black-framed goggles on her head, and on her hips is a sturdy belt where she keeps whatever she wants in immediate reach. She also has a medium-sized tan backpack, for larger items.

Bio/History: Mina recieved her first Pokemon at the age of 10, as was customary - a Charmander. Rather than taking on the League Challenge as many others did, Mina decided she would rather explore the region without worrying about battling, gaining badges, or catching as many Pokemon as possible. Instead she simply travelled, battling when she felt like it, and catching Pokemon when the mood struck her. Over the time before The Change, her Pokemon grew strong, and once she had travelled through Johto and Kanto for nearly four straight years she returned to Fuchsia City and retired to a normal life with her Pokemon companions.

However, once The Change occurred, her life took a different turn. The Safari Zone -where she had worked- closed down as the Pokemon went feral and attacked without warning, and after trying to protect people and failing, she fled the city taking whatever she could with her. One of her Pokemon, a Skarmory, suddenly attacked her and she had to kill him. Another, a Bellossom, sickened and died. The three Mina has left incredibly are dear to her -and she likes to think she is dear to them. Since travelling freely is out of the question, and money is still necessary, she has hired herself out as a freelance mercenary, using her Pokemon to defend people and settlements. Not being too demanding, Mina often accepts shelter and food as a valid form of payment. She is currently in the general vicinity of Route 1, travelling between the remnants of Pallet town and Viridian City.

Garrett keeps his hair in a pony tail to keep it out of his eyes. He's typically somewhat unshaven, not really bothering to keep up his appearance. He wears sturdy dark brown hiking boots, faded and ripped straight-leg jeans which are cuffed at the ankle, and a dark green, long-sleeved shirt. He doesn’t have a bag or a pack as he rarely leaves the general area of the City. His only accessory is his sturdy and thick leather belt (nothing fancy either, but his Pokeballs kept hooked there) and a leather watch.

Bio/History: Not one for battling Pokemon, Garrett preferred keeping them for company rather than anything else. He never really explored, either, travelling as far as the Violet on one side, and Olivine on the other. He found all that he really wanted or needed at home. He found his first Pokemon, a Misdreavus, when he was quite young. He had been walking in the forest around Ecruteak, the sun had gone down faster than he had expected, and he had promptly gotten lost. The Pokemon –rather than frightening him, as was expected- showed him the way back home. Garrett was 7 at the time, but the Pokemon had now become his friend, and they continued this friendship until he acquired his first Pokeball at 10, when she was officially caught.

His Miltank followed – he acquired it by befriending the folks on MooMoo farm when he was about 12, who gave him the egg as a gift. His final Pokemon, a Xatu –originally a Natu- was the only one he actually worked to catch, out in the Ruins, when he was 13. After travelling to the Ruins, his interest in ancient history was solidified when he fell through the floor and found a secret room full of unintelligible carvings. Of course, he preferred to study the lore of his hometown rather than anywhere else.

This interest, as well as his general desire to be helpful, allowed him to have a wide circle of friends and acquaintances in Ecruteak before the Change. He found himself rescuing people from the Burnt Tower whenever some unwitting person (typically a tourist) lost their way there. He struck up a friendship with the Kimono Girls, as they were, in a way, keepers of the lore of the area, so he would spend much of his time in their dance hall. He often runs errands for them, also. He also became good friends with the then-Gym Leader, Morty, as they both had similar interests in history and in Ghost types. In fact, it was through Morty's help that Misdrevius evolved into Mismagius. Treking around the towers and doing errands gradually led to Garrett's high level of physical fitness - not to mention, he liked training (mostly by fervently imitating old Kung-Fu movies) in his spare time.

After the Change, while many died and more left, Garrett remained. He uses his Pokemon to generally help out what remains of the settlement. When there’s nothing to do in town, he hunts on the outskirts of town for any rogue Pokemon which could be used as food – particularly Stantlers, Tauroses or even Miltanks. He still explores the Towers, and keeps the Kimono Girls company.

Appearance:
Brendan is 5'8", with brown curly hair, but because it is cut short it looks straight. He has brown eyes, a white complexion, and a nose that is slightly wide.
His clothes look rather expensive, despite the recent apocalypse. He wears black skinny jeans, a scarlet button-up shirt, black converse shoes with red flanks, a black cargo jacket (that is, a black jacket made of thick fabric with several large, button-up pockets) and to top it all off, a black trilby hat with a red band.

Bio/History: Brendan was born and raised in Goldenrod, and was quite wealthy, hence the clothes. Even though they seem to make him a viable target for thugs and such, he will be hard pressed to relinquish them. Some call him big-headed, but this isn't really true, even if he can't prove it often.
He calls his trio of Pokemon 'The Boys' since they are all male, and they are great at working in a team. Gardevoir (the only female Pokemon still in his possession) is usually kept in his PC box, but she is just as capable a fighter. All of his Pokemon were caught before the Change (Gardevoir and Gallade were caught as Raltses on Route 34, just moments before), but raised after it, making them strong. The Boys were also trained in sparring.

Before the Change, Brendan also had a male Meganium, his first Pokemon, and a female Weavile. Two months ago, Brendan received a letter from his cousin in Sinnoh, requesting the custody of his Meganium. This was because, in Pastoria city, a food produce centre was being opened to feed all of Sinnoh, and every Meganium was needed. Since Meganiums had the ability to restore plant life to full health with their breaths, they were sorely needed to support the crop growth at the produce centre. As well as feeding people, the vegetation also fed other Pokemon who were raised as a source of meat. Brendan sent his Meganium, but since his Weavile had become sick, he sent her over as well to be cared for in Sinnoh.

When Brendan got to Ecruteak, one of the first things he did was help incapacitate an alledged suicide bomber. The bomber had attempted to use his Sneasel to give himself a window of opportunity to escape, but Brendan's Gardevoir put it to sleep. Brendan then took custody of the Pokemon, hoping to raise it in a positive manner.

Other Weapons: He keeps a large hunting knife in a sheath kept under the left shoulder of his jacket.

Other: Before the Change, and because he had such money to spare, Brendan requested the production of six custom Pokeballs for his party. They are black with a red band and intricate, angular patterns of red lines decorating both halves. A similar pattern colours the air around them when they open up to withdraw or release a Pokemon. He named them Night balls, partly for their sinister appearance but also because they were the functional equivalent of a Dusk ball, in that they were better at catching Pokemon at night.

Claire is 5'4" tall, and has long blonde hair that curves in under her chin. Her skin is untanned from all the time she spends indoors, and her eyes are dark green. She wears a faded nurse dress which has a skirt that comes down low past her knees, rather than the shorter ones that billow wide around the thighs.
Bio/History: Claire grew up with Brendan in Goldenrod, and since they were the only two left in the city in the same age bracket, they were close. She often got to see the more modest side of Brendan that most others completely overlook, and being his friend meant she often got to take one of his Pokemon wither her when the nights got dangerous, since she didn't have any Pokemon of her own.

Claire is a Pokemon nurse, probably the only nurse in Johto who isn't in the Joy family. Nurse Joy had to leave Goldenrod, and Claire stepped up to become the next nurse, having helped out in the centre for the past few years to fill in the years. This proved harder than it seemed, because she had to take up preliminary mathematics and biology courses to learn everything necessary, and she failed the final test three times before she got it right. When she did, she officially became Nurse Claire.
From then on for the next few years, things became repetitive: heal people's Pokemon, tell them to take potions with them, and offer the odd antidote. She sometimes performed actual surgical operations, but nothing too important.
But then the nameless machine that lived behind the counter and healed Pokemon broke. Claire's job became much harder for the next two months. She had to use medicines (that she had to beg people to make for her, because Goldenrod received no supplies) and time-consuming operations without help to heal Pokemon, meaning that the centre was crowded to a migraine-inducing cluster-fuck.
That went on for two months, until Brendan donated a sum that finally allowed her to hire someone to fix the machine. Once that was done, the centre became less crowded to the point of almost empty, leaving Claire to rest herself and relieve her headaches. Brendan left for Ecruteak that same night, just before the usual swarm of feral Pokemon from Ilex forest swept into the city. It was this night that she also met her Ralts, her first Pokemon. Apparently, a bunch of Pokemon must have dog-piled against the wall of her home while she was in the centre, the force of which pushed just one straight through the wall: a Ralts.
Recovered in the morning, Claire found the Ralts to be seemingly mute in addition to non-feral. It would do nothing but sit perfectly still on the counter and make no sound whatsoever until it needed to be fed or put to bed. Upon Reckless's arrival to the Goldenrod centre, it assisted with Willow's operation by using pain split to partially heal her wounded leg, causing large bruises to appear on his own leg. Apart from that, he seems to appear in unlikely places to Claire with no indication as to how he actually got there, like on the high counter or between storeys of the Pokemon Centre.
On the night of Reckless's arrival, Claire, her Ralts, and Reckless's Haunter operated on his Fearow's leg, which proved to be a quick operation due to the assistance she received from her Pokemon. The next day, she performed a second operation on Willow's leg, wherein she cut a leg off a dead Skarmory and attached it to Willow's stump. This proved to be stressful, but successful, and it gave her something to share with Reckless, who was making odd impressions in the centre.
Other Weapons: None.
Other: While she loves her Ralts very much, Claire has always wanted a Sneasel for company. Her experiences with Reckless have been... trying. While Reckless has proven himself socially abrasive from time to time, Claire has had lasting glimpses of his more friendly side, and considers him a friendly acquaintance after the two days she has known him.

Bio/History: Shaun grew up in Hoenn, when Team Magma and Aqua were still underground. When the Teams finally surfaced, Shaun was around 18 years old and joined Team Magma post-haste. It wasn’t long, however, before an upstart trainer beat the Teams into submission, and Magma disbanded. With nowhere else to go, Shaun relocated to Johto, bringing his Camerupt, Mightyena, and Crobat with him. A few years past without much problem for Shaun, until the light came down from Mount Silver… Shaun couldn’t believe it. At first, he thought Maxie had succeeded where he had previously failed, expanding the land as was his dream. Only, it didn’t affect the seas, only the land itself… Shaun realized that this wasn’t Maxie. Even if it was, this wasn’t right. Within the first month, Shaun’s Mightyena was killed by a rampaging Gyrados. Shaun caught a Houndour to replace the late Pokemon, and it eventually evolved into Houndoom. He also caught a Magmar, which had been attacked by a group of Pokemon poachers. The poachers shot Camerupt while Shaun was trying to rescue the Magmar, which enraged the former Magma Admin. Kicking one of them and stealing his weapon, Shaun single handedly killed the four poachers. He kept the shotgun as a reminder of his fallen friend, his first Pokemon. Now Shaun lives in Kanto, as he had to escape the police for murder. They’ve lost interest in him in Kanto, as more pressing matters capture their attention. So he set up a house in Lavender Town, visiting the graves of his Pokemon every Thursday evening.
Other Weapons: He carries his semi-automatic shotgun wherever he goes. He also carries a machete, but he usually only uses that if he has to.

Appearance: Haru stands at 5'8, with untidy dark brown hair, emerald green eyes, and slightly tanned skin- though who doesn't have that, what with the sun constantly bearing down on the land? He usually wears a simple black T-shirt covered by a red leather jacket and now tattered, faded jeans. He also has a pair of goggles with him in case of sandstorms.
Bio/History: Haru was born in New Bark Town, where he lived a relatively normal life- he went to school, had a few friends, and spent his time playing Pokemon video games when he wasn't involved with either of the above. He dreamed about becoming a Pokemon Trainer, taking on the Pokemon League Challenge, and eventually becoming Champion....but his parents insisted he finish school first. It seemed as though he would never get to leave New Bark...

That is, until the Change.

Ever since then, Haru has been roaming the wastes with his Meganium, which he found not long before The Change as an injured Chikorita. He is seemingly searching for something, though what for, no one knows. If one were to encounter him, they would see him as a reclusive, almost depressed man, possibly even suicidal for only having one Pokemon and no other weapon. In reality though, Haru is a very brave and determined man, who wont hesitate to help anyone who needs help.

Appearance: Abel is somewhere between 5'6 and 5'7 in height. He has jet black hair, which tends to drift between messy and well kept- he does try to keep it in some sort of decent state, but given his line of work, that tends to be somewhat difficult. His eyes are a cold, piercing blue, but one would think they were grey unless they got right up in his face. He wears a suit of light leather armor, which he wears a cloak over when he's not working.
Bio/History: Abel lived in Cherrygrove City with his mother and older brother. His father was a Pokemon Trainer, and was rarely ever at home. This never bothered Abel or his brother- in fact, they both greatly admired him. Needless to say, Abel was incredibly jealous of his brother when he finally turned ten and thus became old enough to set out on his own journey, but there was nothing Abel could do about it- he would simply have to wait. And so he did...

...until the letter came.

Abel never found out exactly what the letter said. His mother simply told him that his father was dead after reading it, which he accepted- after all, Trainers DID occasionally die out there. They managed to get in contact with Abel's brother, but he was unable to make it home before yet another tragedy occurred- their mother passed away. As far as doctors could tell, she had been perfectly healthy- the only thing they could come up with was that the death of her husband had been too much for her to take, and she had been so depressed that she had eventually just...died.

The two brothers moved to Violet City, where their aunt and uncle lived. Ken's brother practically became walking hatred- he grew to hate Pokemon especially, blaming them on the death of his parents. It eventually got to the point that he took all of his Pokemon out into the woods and killed all of them one by one with a gun that he had somehow obtained. Eventually, he came to his Quilava. Abel had found them by this time, and tackled his brother, completely ignoring the fact that he held a gun.

And then The Change hit.

Once the light cleared, Abel didn't have any time to take in the change of scenery- his brother had recovered, and judging by the fact that he now had his gun aimed at Abel, it didn't seem like he cared too much about what had just happened.

What Abel did next was completely on impulse. He didn't even think about it, he just did it- he ordered Quilava to attack. There was a roar, and suddenly his brother went up in flames. Abel turned to find not Quilava, but a recently evolved Typhlosion...whose eyes were now turning a shade of red. The flames on its back were now at full blast, but after a moment it calmed itself, though it growled at Abel. Abel slowly went over to the Pokemon's discarded Pokeball, oblivious to his brothers slowly fading screams of agony, and called back Typhlosion.

It was on this day that Abel learned a lesson he would carry with him for the rest of his life- never hesitate to kill.

He eventually grew to be a skilled mercenary, relying less on Pokemon and more on his own skill. He is often hired by Team Rocket, who seem to be rather fond of his skills...a fact that he keeps to himself, of course.
Other Weapons: He always carries his rifle and a combat knife with him. He's also somewhat skilled in hand-to-hand, should the need ever arise.
Other: Due to the unstable nature of his Typhlosion, he almost always keeps it stored in the PC. As for his Pawniard, he obtained this on a mission for Team Rocket- the target was apparently some sort of dealer/breeder in the more dangerous foreign Pokemon and was on his way to deliver a shipment. Abel's job was to intercept and kill him, and bring back all the Pokemon that he could, if possible. It hadn't been- in the end, Abel had to fight the target, which led to the death of all of his Pokemon. All except for one- Pawniard. Pawniard thought of Abel as its master the minute it was released from its Pokeball, and Abel soon found that it followed his every order to the letter. Seeing no need to give such a thing up, he reported that all of the Pokemon had been killed in the struggle, and Team Rocket seemed none the wiser. Or if they knew, they didn't care- Abel didn't get paid for that job, anyway.

Bio/History: Meg was young when she got her first Pokemon from her uncle an older Pokemon trainer. Evee grew up with her becoming best friend threw everything weather it be a fight at school or getting grounded for what ever reason it may have been, it was soon after the change when her father left to go find better work for the family since fishing was no longer an option. they got word about a year later that her uncle had been killed by one of his own Pokemon that had gone feral. her mother almost lost it fear that her husband would meat the same fate but the next day they got a letter from him stating that he was okay ad had heard the news about the death of the family member.

Things got harder and Meg tried harder to help her mother out around the house and with other things. it was shortly after she turned 17 that she told her mom she was going to find work some where else like dad had. try as her mother might she could not sway meg from her firm discussion. Meg worked hard to get at least one more Pokemon before she left catching a Meowth that she later named silky with this she packed and moved on leaving her mother with one of the other relatives. it was later in her travails she stumbled on a Graveler that had been injured during some frightful storm. For the next few days she took care of it till it was well enough to fend for itself but then it started following her.

Meg ended up stopping in a town and working there for about two months sending most of the money back to her mother and keeping only what she needed to live on. Eventually she had to move on as the pay got less and less before reaching the next town she had to fight her way threw some very viscous attacks in which her Graveler evolved and then later turned on her. This made her more then a little depressed for a few days till she reached the town where she shook herself out of it and made for some work. She couldn't find any but she did find a Sandslash and a Girafarig in need of help which she gave to them and then took them in.

Meg is now travelling back to Lavender Town with a sickly Dratini that is in need of some help she can't provide with her limited supply.

Other Weapons: a knife and her own hand to hand skills.

Other: Meg's bangs are almost always in front of her gray blue eyes making it hard for some one to know what she's thinking or looking at. She is mostly quiet and thoughtful.

Bio/History: Cathy started her life young working on a ranch with her grandfather and younger uncle and her older brother tending to the Pokemon and generally doing what ever was needed at the time. Her parents having left of a big expedition something about finding some long lost Pokemon fossil. They arranged for her and her sibling to stay with other relatives thinking it would be good for her to get out from the bigger citys. Cathy and her brother redrick found that they enjoyed the ranch much more then the crowded city and quickly became good friends with some of the Pokemon around the ranch.

life went on for a long while some time during the spring her grandfather got a request from some friends to try and brake a rather wild Pokemon try as her grandfather might he could not see to calm down the Zebstrika and was forced to say the same to the owner. unlike her brother Cathy did not have any Pokemon at the time but was encouraged by her own will to take the challenge to taming the wild four legged Pokemon in front of her. While her grandfather and his friend where talking matters over she sneaked into the pen and with a lot of trouble some how got the wilful Pokemon to listen to her even tho it seemed to have a vile temper. When her grandfathers friend saw this he laughed and offered it to the Pokemon to her since it only seemed to acknowledge her and thus she got her first Pokemon.

She also later became friends with a Ponyta. Though she and bolt don't get a long to well they can work together only if they have to. of coarse Bolt never really got alone with any one But Cathy for what ever reason that my be. Cathy and Redrick got letters from there parents who said they were going to be staying longer then expected this was not bad news to them and where immediately happy.

it was during this second year with there grandpa that the change happened while she and Redrick where out in the fields taking a brake from there chores. they where blinded and when they could finely see again everything had changed they went to see if everything was alright back at 'home' only to find it in turmoil some of the plant Pokemon looked sick or even dead some of the others seemed to have gone mad or where in pain but worst of all Grandpas trained Houndour was attacking their uncle. She got whiny to get him off but her uncle was to badly hurt he died hours later.

Their grandfather found them and hurried away with a few of the remaining Pokemon that had not gone feral. He was so shaken after they had made it to safety tho that he had simply collapsed it had taken both of them to take him to a center. Where he staid under the care of the nurses it was then up to her and her brother to find their parents with the few Pokemon that they had. they where on their way to the next town still not fully aware of how dangerous it was out they didn't realize until they where where caught between to battling Pokemon. They didn't get out unscathed her brother was hurt badly she took him to a center and passed out when she came to she had that horrible feeling and it was soon confirmed that he had passed because of his wounds. She then took his Typhlosion T.Y with her as she went out to find her parents.

Cathy became a bit more withdrawn for a 18 year old girl she dose not speak much now as she travail around wondering exactly where her parents are.

Deron has rugged and worn appearance, being almost always bruised all over his body. His mid-long black hair looks dry and seems to have been lacking a good wash. His general build is fairly long and slim. His eyes are a gray-green color and seem to always have a touch of sorrow about them. The more you look into his eyes, the more obvious it is.
His outfit consist of a worn brown t-shirt abd black trousers that hang over his running shoes slightly. Covering his chest, he also often wears a black, fur-lined jacket, also scarred by various bruises. Around his neck hangs a dog-tag, aswell a piece of turtle shell. His hands are dressed in loose and dirty bandages, for which the reason isn't clear, and most likely just fashionable.

Bio/History:
Deron grew up in Pewter City, the city of stone. He has always been among rocks and stone, but never showed a real affinity for rock-pokémon. On the contrary, he was fascinated at an early age by water-pokémon, which caused him to pick a Squirtle as his first pokémon when he turned 10. Together with his squirtle, he set out, bent on becoming a skillful pokémon, aiming to one day be able to make his own gym. He traveled throughout Kanto, capturing other and new pokémon, among which were Abra, Magnemite and a male Nidoran.
It wouldn't be long until his origin would catch up to him, but not in the way as expected.

At the age of 16, he had already trained hard, and his dearest Squirtle had become a full fledged Blastoise. Together with him, he set out to capture one specific rare Pokémon: A fossil Pokémon. Hearing the rumours of how many fossils could be found at Cinnabar Island, he set out there, accompanied by his Blastoise, Abra, Magnemite and Nidorino. Once there, he took a deep breath as he clung onto Blastoise, who took him underwater, diving straight into an underwater cave. When they finally reached air, Deron gasped for his precious oxygen, taking a moment to recover as Blastoise already proceeded into the cave to look about.

When Deron finally got up again, Blastoise called him over, gesturing over to a crack in the wall. Deron walked over to it and peered through the crack and inside he found something that he'd never expect to actually find: A living and breathing Kabuto, isolated from the outside world. Without hesitation, Deron ordered Blastoise to break through the wall, who smashed through it using his hard shell and massive body. Once there, the Kabuto was no match and easily caught. Satisfied with his new catch, he and Blastoise dove back into the water to make their way out, but as they were in the water, a blinding flash came from the surface, radiating into the water. Shortly after being blinded, Deron could remember burning stings and slashes, before passing out completely.

When he woke up, he was lying on the shore of Cinnabar Island. As he looked around himself, he noticed the sea had turned sludgy and tainted. He then became aware of a sharp thing that stuck in the flesh of his hand. Grunting, he pulled out the bloodied shard, only to realise that in truth, it was a fragment of Blastoise's shell. Panicked, he searched his pokémon, running his hand along the balls, coming to the conclusion that Blastoise's wasn't there. It hit like truck: He had lost Blastoise. He would continue staring at the sludgy ocean for hours, before taking out one of his Pokéballs, calling forth Abra, who looked up at him confused. Deron just shook his head, ordering Abra to teleport the two of them away, towards Pewter City.

Once there, he was quick to find out what happened and collected himself, before heading out once more, this time into a more dangerous and hostile world. But he wasn't afraid. No, he'd find the reason of the flash, and avenge his best friend. For the twelve years that the world has been in turmoil, he has been roaming both Kanto and Johto, becoming a harsh and serious trainer as he and his Pokémon would tear down any who stood against them, be it Pokémon or human.

Other Weapons (gun of some sort, knife, ect.): He carries around two long knives, slung from his belt and a pistol, holstered on his thigh.

Other: Deron's loss of Blastoise still drags him down, and mentioning it or talking about it can either make him fall in a hole of sorrow or make him just get uncontrollably angry.

Bio/History: Neji has always love communicating with Pokemon. His Lucario was a gift from his father. He first received it as an egg. Then hatched it to Riolu than with friendship to Lucario. He lived in the Johto city of Blackthorn. He trained and lived there until the event occurred and the world got lost. Neji's parents died after and Neji grew strong to protect his Pokemon. He wanted this event to end so he left to search the strange occurrence in hopes of putting a stop to the madness together with his Riolu, the Pokemon a ruin researcher had given that went by the name of Bronzor. Bronzor was apparently from another region that was not Johto or Kanto, and he had a ghastly that he had caught in his home town.

His hair is a light silvery-grey that looks white from far away. His eyes are a light shade of red that appear bright from a distance, and are most ominous under his Duskull mask. His poncho-like cover is dark grey to match his Poochyena tail. His pants are a dark maroon color while his shoes and the small pouch attached to his thigh are a brighter red to emphasize his eyes and match his messenger bag. The messenger bag itself is black with a red strap and a maroon cover. Everything that is black in the picture is black on him as well.

When the poncho is removed, his shirt is small and only covers his upper chest. It doesn't matter though since his entire torso all the way up his neck and face are covered in bandages. It is said that he never takes off his bandages, though that's probably false seeing as he has spare bandages in his bag at all times.

BIO/HISTORY

Hiei was once one of those guys that dressed up in random Pokemon costumes to entertain children as well as himself. He was commonly addressed as a PokeManic, of which he didn't care seeing as he was one. Hiei had a strange fascination with various things about Pokemon, such as their inner workings and anatomy, the various ways their attacks effected their own bodies, and other biological things that had to do with Pokemon. His mother told him he'd make a fine professor one day, and his father said he'd be a wonderful poke-doctor alongside Nurse Joy at the local PokeCentre, and his friends said he would be amazing at whatever he chose to do. By then he was only 9 coming up on 10, getting ready to achieve his dream of being not a professor, not a poke-doctor, but, as he put it, "The Pokemon Master and Gym Leader of Team Magma."

Hey, just because he was a 9-year-old genius doesn't mean he wasn't still a naive kid.

Anyway, his very interesting knowledge base, his strange and all-over-the-place dreams, as well as his obsession with Pokemon gave him a unique skill set. His friends called him a "Living Pokedex" and he grew a bit fond of the name. Problem was, he was far more book-smart than he was anything else, and when he turned 10 and was given the opportunity to choose his first Pokemon, he denied the gift and decided go and catch the Pokemon himself rather than take the easy way out. It was about then when something boiled inside of him, something he didn't understand quite yet.

Off Hiei went, preparing to go on a Pokemon Journey without a Pokemon to guide him, something many called reckless and stupid. But that's part of what makes a good genius, right? Being willing to try things others don't? That's what scared Hiei's parents, actually, and being good parents, his mother and father secretly followed their son out into the wilderness, going on a boat ride up to Littleroot and eventually on Route 101. On route 101, he smiled as he spotted his first Wild Pokemon, and his parents watched with awe at the way he planned to catch it.

It shouldn't have come as a surprise, him being a PokeManic and all, but it was shocking to his parents when Hiei got on all fours and started barking at the Poochyena he had spotted. It was even more shocking when the Poochyena actually walked up to him and sniffed him out of curiosity, and all words were lost when Hiei not only sniffed it back, but tackled it just like a Pokemon would, had he accepted the offer of one from a friend's dad back home in Dewford. On his own, he damaged the Pokemon enough, and then looked at the Pokeball with surprised joy as he threw it and the Poochyena was caught. He happily named his first pokemon Fang and headed forward for Mauville City, leaving his both terrified and worried parents behind unbeknownst to him.

Hiei trained and trained like there was no tomorrow, rather than doing what all his colleges were doing by filling their Pokedex's to the brink by catching more and more pokemon just to put in their PC's. No, Hiei didn't want a pokemon that he couldn't have walking by his side just like Fang...er, well, flying in the case of Willow, the Spearow he caught not long later. Hiei continued on training and growing closer and closer to his pokemon on levels nobody else would understand. He grew to a point where he called them "family" and "pack," of which he appointed himself the leader thereof. At this point he thought he knew just what it was that boiled within, but it was only the beginning...

During all these training sessions, he eventually caught a full party. It mostly consisted of Poochyena's, but they were and would evolve into his favorite so he didn't care. His party went Poochyena, Spearow, Poochyena, Houndour, Poochyena, Gastly. Once he caught them all it was onto step two: Evolving them all. Fang was the first to evolve, then his Spearow Willow, and not long later was his Houndour Talon and his Gastly Fear. Life was good, and seemed to be looking up for Hiei and his poke-friends.

Then it happened...the moment that changed lives...the moment that changed everything...

Hiei was sleeping in the middle of the Petalburg Woods when a bright light like none other woke him up, and the sound of dog fighting forced him. He knew it was all of his Poochyena the moment Feng stepped in and tried to play mother by breaking up the fight. It didn't work, however, and Feng suffered a bite wound that left her right eye and ear useless. In a moment of pure rage about the treatment his closest friend was getting, Hiei quickly got up, and without thought, he attacking the dogs the same way that he fought Feng long ago, only this time far stronger and more lethal. Hiei too went feral, and blacked out during this rage. When he awoke, the bodies of two Poochyena pups were in his hands, and the last Poochyena was taking refuge being Talon and Feng, the pup's associated parents.

Hiei could still feel the feral pokemon blood running through his veins and felt like a monster...thing was, he liked it. His broke down in tears at the bodies of the once beloved Pokemon he had killed, and held a small memorial service for them...in the midst of which he started laughing psychotically and ending it with a realistic growl. This was the moment where he realized his true self, who he was meant to be. His pokemon were his life, and now that he had the taste of their blood, he realized they were more than that...they were a part of him. He wasn't meant to be Hiei...he was meant to be a Pokemon. With a sick smile, Hiei removed the only un-scathed tail from the bodies of the Poochyena, attaching it to his belt in pure jealousy to the fact that he didn't have one. Turning to the Poochyena he didn't slay, he held out a blood-stained and scarred hand, thus naming the pup Stain.

"From this day forward I am no longer the simple-minded human child I was yesterday." Hiei began and Feng licked his wounds. "I am Reckless, the Pokemon Alpha of this pack."

He lived up to his word, acting recklessly and selfishly, doing things without thought about the consequences. His first job was to kill a Duskull, formerly owned by an old friend, that was in charge of various attacks on the city of Fortree by feral pokemon. He used this mask to conceal his "human" identity until he obtained bandages and the clothes he now wears as payment for various jobs. It wasn't long later that he decided payment in poke-parts wasn't enough, and made enough money as a reputable mercenary to afford to go to Johto and truly start over as a new person...as a new pokemon...as Reckless.

This is where he now stands, as a newcomer to Johto...a ruthless one looking for the person who will pay him most handsomely in the Misdreavus pearls he's now taken a heavy liking to.

Devon is around 6" Tall, with freckled, sun-worn skin and green eyes, though he always keeps his right eye closed, his long black hair is always swept back and looks tidy, albeit very oily-looking. He always travels with his Luxio on his right shoulder as a lookout, of sorts and his Murkrow on his hat. He wears his two pokeballs on his belt, but he only uses them if his pokemon are in danger or if it's absolutely necessary.
Bio/History: Before the Change, Devon was an excellent trainer, he had been all around the Kanto region, collecting pokemon to make his ultimate team, which was lead by his first pokemon, and best friend, a Luxray named Volt. When he turned 13, he began his journey to collect all the badges. With his team, it only took him a few months to collect all of them, but instead of heading straight for the Indigo Plateau, he decided to take a few days off at his hometown of Olivine City. This proved to be a good idea, because a few days later, the Change began, and all of the Elite Four disappeared.

Once the Change started, Devon was placed as one of the city's protectors, defending it from the feral Pokemon that began to attack people. He and his team quickly became famous in Olivine as the strongest defenders the city had, but as the Pokemon became more ferocious and the demand for his help grew, he began to grow careless, diving head first into battles without a second thought.

During one of the few breaks they had, Volt gave birth to the egg that would later be known as Watt, but before she could recover, there was another attack and Devon was called in to save the day, and Volt was right beside him. During the ensuing battle, Devon underestimated just how weak Volt still was, and how much this would effect his team, and he went into battle with them, where his right eye was grazed by a poison sting, the damage from the needle itself wasn't bad, but the poison took its toll and he lost most of his sight from that eye. When he was injured, his team went into disarray and began to fall apart, one Pokemon at a time, even Volt was killed while trying to help get him to safety.

After the ferals were driven off by the other protectors, Devon was left with only two Pokemon, his Murkrow, Turtledove, who had escaped with minor injuries, and the egg. Since the egg was the only thing he could have to remember Volt with, he swore to take care of it and never let what happened to Volt happen to it.
Other Weapons: Devon carries a revolver under his coat and a small knife hidden in his boot for emergencies.
Other: He has a horrible sense of direction, even with a map. When he's with Watt, he keeps up a front of happiness to keep him from worrying, but when Watt isn't with him, he gets very depressed.

A middle-aged, 6’3” tall man with a toned appearance overall. His light fuchsia colored hair was kept well below his shoulders. A bunch was bound together by a silvery piece of string and kept that bunch of hair in front of him. The rest was kept in moderate order but he did allow some strands to hang out. His eyes were a golden brown and there was a birthmark located underneath the lower-left corner of his left eye. He usually wore a crossover between a robe and a long-sleeved shirt and a pair of silky white pants to get the most out of the breeze when he flew with his Pokémon. His right hand sported an intricate gold bracelet that had jewels crisscrossing out onto the back of his right hand that his mother had made for him. He wore a necklace with a thin metal rectangle attached to it. Its purpose was to help his Ninjask fly straighter when it was younger, instead of upwards, by giving it a counter-weight (It weighs 15 pounds). Now that it is older, he keeps it on him for good luck.
Bio: Before the Change, Ty’ko was an accomplished Pokémon trainer. He along with his family of 5 (including him) traveled all around Kanto, Johto, and even the Sinnoh regions to participate in friendly battles and prestigious tournaments. At the tender age of 14, he was able to win his first tournament, in Kanto, with his old team of Pokémon (Monferno, Togepi, Nincada, and Pikachu (Deceased)); making him the last in his family to secure a win. Since then, he only got better, winning more and more until he had a healthy record of 149-2-21. At the age of 16, he helped his mother start a school for younger Pokémon trainers to help them along their journeys to becoming just as successful as he did. He and his Pokémon trained some of the best Trainers in the Johto and Kanto regions. Always walking around with a smile, he would always make friends wherever he went and always brought a radiant atmosphere with him.
Then the Change happened…
He would never forget that day, it was the day he lost his Pikachu, it was the day he lost his family, it was the day he lost his old life and had to exchange it for a harsh, new reality. It all happened in an instant, one second he was teaching his newly evolved Ninjask Aerial Ace, his other Pokémon cheering Ninjask on, then the flash of light knocked all of them out. When Ty’ko came to, it was pure chaos in Violet town. Pokémon were attacking innocents, and even each other! The buildings were ablaze in red flames, people were mad with fear, killing each other and Pokémon in self-defense. Somehow he and his Pokémon were giving the luxury of time to come to and weren’t targeted yet due to their elevated position. But that ended in a flash. He was helping his Monferno to its feet when a feral Charizard swooped in and grabbed his Pikachu in its mouth and in a second, she was dead. Ty’ko and his Pokémon were frozen in fear and terror as their life-long friend lay dead in front of its feet, its tiny body broken in 2 and slowly leaking blood. The Charizard’s eyes looked madly at his Ninjask and started to charge a flamethrower, and that was when the realization snapped in for Ty’ko. He immediately ordered his Monferno to perform Close Combat on the Charizard’s mouth, disabling its Flamethrower, and then ordered his Togetic to douse it with a waterfall. He was getting ready to capture it when his Ninjask moved with blinding speed to pierce its neck. Its sharp claws and arms were no match for the skin of the feral dragon and in two hits it was dead. Ty’ko immediately put the Ninjask back into its Pokeball and looked over the dead Charizard’s body. He moved it aside and picked up his dead Pikachu and cried over its body. After a few minutes, word that his family was killed by bandits reached him and he lost it. His Pokémon huddled over him to comfort him as his limp body mourned the dead. Once the chaos was over he decided to leave his burning town and retire to the Mount Moon, his favorite vacation location. Armed with absolutely nothing but his 3 Pokémon, he vanished for a total of 12 long years.
During this time of seclusion, he discovered his love for flight and an even greater love for flying type Pokémon. Over these years he filled the hole in his heart by training his Monferno, Togetic, and Ninjask. His deep understanding of the wilderness led him to be better able to keep his Pokémon decently fed and hydrated enough with the dying resources he had to use. He rarely used Pokémon meat as it disgusted him to have to kill the things he wanted to protect, but he had no choice, they needed the protein. During the 4th year of isolation, he had rescued an injured Emogla from the clutches of an abusive trainer who came from the Unova Region. After a feverish 3 days, he was able to revive the Emolga and included her in his team. As such he used his extensive knowledge of Pokémon training to raise her to become a reliable ally in the trying times. In his sixth year he had defeated a large band of bandits who came for his Pokémon when they were aware of his presence. They all used normal types which he easily disposed of. It seemed that this band of thieves and murderers were highly skilled and successful as he came away with several special Pokeballs, a piece of the extremely rare and sought after Rare Candies and an Egg of which he had no clue of what was inside. After several months of incubation and waiting, the egg hatched into a Ruffet, a flying type Pokémon that also came from the Unova Region. He spent the last five-odd years of isolation focusing on training his Monferno, Togetic, and the newly born Ruffet. He wanted to return with to help the burning regions, but he wanted to make sure he could walk 10 feet without dying first due to him having nothing but his fists to defend himself. The first Pokémon to evolve was his Monferno, naturally, accomplished in 6 months. The second was his Togetic, but he realized that he couldn’t evolve it naturally. A bandit assassin, bent on capturing Togetic, made the mistake of telling him what he needed to do to evolve it. He also made a further mistake of taunting him with the Shiny Stone, the thing that he needed to evolve Togetic with. The bandit held the stone too close to Togetic, and she evolved immediately into a Togekiss, and wasted him in seconds. The Ruffet on the other hand was going to be harder to train for several reasons. One, he had to maintain his current team with food, water, and general training. Two, he had no prior knowledge of either it or Emogla, both coming from a region he had no experience in. He had to spend a year learning on how they function and think in order to train them. Finally the Ruffet he hatched was a wily one, always wanting to do something completely different every second. It took him a long time to train and evolve the Ruffet into a Braviary. Almost 4 years of constant training went into it. He also trained himself to become fast and agile like his Pokémon had become and in four short years, he had become the likes of a professional ninja. The bright, carefree, happy-go-lucky trainer of the past had become a serious, no-nonsense, man-of-few-words type of person that you wanted to be friends with, or die running. He and his five Pokémon returned recently to the bleeding regions to try and restore order to the lands and figure out who, or what, killed his beloved past. He had 2 full totes of food and supplies, all of which he either grew of looted off of dead bandits. He had to train his Braviary to carry them both on its back, which it did after a month of convincing and begging...mostly begging. He had heard of tensions running wild near Goldenrod and decided to head there first.

Hometown: Her roots are in Snowpoint City [Sinnoh], but she grew into maturity in Hearthome City. Her home for the last few years has been Saffron City.
Appearance: An ad Midori posed for, in a Saffron Mag.
Bio/History: Humble beginnings were a blessing in disguise for Midori, for not only was it hard enough constantly travelling across the Sinnoh region to get between her two homes, but the city life alone was usually something people avoided for fear of losing their minds (among other things throughout confusion). Moving to Hearthome for dreams of a modelling career, Midori was accepted within that specific scene very quickly due to her naturally tiny shape, business oriented attitude and best of all she was easy to sway/control. Photographers and Designers alike ate her up and spit her out for the next tiny little girl, but luckily for Midori she got some great experience and networking under her belt for the near future.
Speaking of, and at first she used the pokemon league as an excuse she offered her elders (parents, grandparents included) to move to Kanto, but wasn't expecting to fall in love with her pokemon partners, to the point where modelling went on a back burner for a short while and was merely used for income purposes only. She became so dedicated to the battling lifestyle that her official badge case for the Kanto region has been completely filled. Nearly 30% of the motivation to battle stemmed from an infatuation with former Fuchsia City Gym Leader; Koga, a crush that she shared with one of her pokemon, to the point where the two agreed that they should be nicknamed after the now member of the Elite Four.
Midori had rented out a flat in one of Saffron City's large apartment complex's, and to this day uses it as her 'base of operation'. The name was deemed fitting once The Change occurred, though Saffron's way of life was seemingly unaffected, obvious notable changes aside.

Ielar stands at roughly 5'4". She isn't very atletic, and has a few extra pounds on her. She is mostly average when it comes to looks. Her face is a softer heart shape, and her eyes are often full of energy and life, despite the hardships she has shared.

Ielar Noehmi Bate, commonly known as Ie, was born into the small town of Lavender. As soon as she had the ability to hold a writing utensil in her hand she developed a deep love for drawing and illustrating. She would always be found toting a sketch book, pencil, and whatever else she could use to draw. She would often spend time at the very beginning of the routes leading away from Lavender Town drawing what she saw, whether it be pokemon, trainer, or the simple scenery around her. Other times she would be seen in the Pokemon Tower, sometimes drawing or comforting anyone whose pokemon had passed to the other side.

Her parents, always proud of the talent she presented, would encourage her to leave some images she had drawn at some of the graves who were not visited as often. They told her this was a good idea because it would allow the spirits of the deceased pokemon to know that someone was still watching over them. While she would go about her day as a child they would work the pokemart for any travelers or trainers passing through. Every so often Ielar’s favorite Aunt, who Ielar called Aunt Inkheart (also known as Aunty Ink), would come to visit and bring the little girl with her to her ranch in Hoenn for a week or two or to simply tell stories.

Ielar love her aunt’s stories, and with good reasons too. Her aunt was always kind enough to color her stories with such vivid words that Ielar always put into images on paper. She told tales of all five regions she had travled, and spoke of her pokemon she obtained along the way with such compassion. Aunt Inky would even have her pokemon pose for Ielar to practice drawing.
It was at Aunty Ink’s ranch that Ielar came to ebrace a second passion in her life, a passion that would set Ielar on a journey of her own. She wanted to become a top notch pokemon breeder, and it was all because of Rigattoni.

Ielar was on her way to help with dinner preparations when her aunt called to her. As Ielar approached she noticed Aunty Ink had a grin on her face. She had motioned for her to quietly follow her inside the hatchery. Once inside Ielar noticed an older ninetails sitting patiently. Ielar recognized the female as one of Aunty Ink’s oldest pokemon. In front of the fire fox lay an egg. For a few moments the egg wriggled then Ielar heard the first crack as the baby vulpix tried to break out. She could only watch with amazement as the newborn struggled for mere seconds before it was free of the egg. What was even more impressive was how energetic and troublesome the vulpix was, as if it hadn’t just been born into the world.

Ielar was still in complete awe over what she had just witnessed, and as she tried to speak her words stumbled over each other. Instead of commenting on the ball of energy he was Ielar made the mistake of saying what an energy ball, and even though the vulpix was young it seemed to understand her words and took aim at a small pile of hay. While the move was not powerful enough to do much other than scatter the bedding material around Ielar stared amazed at the young fox pokemon.

During dinner Aunt Inkheart told stories of the past, and how at one point in time Vulpix had to be bred to use certain moves. Energy Ball, the attack Ielar had witnessed, used to be one of these. Her aunt explained it was called an egg move, but now with evolution and the way breeders had gotten so good at breeding moves successfully egg moves were a thing of the past. Something inside Ielar sparked, and questions about pokemon breeders flew off the handle. Aunty Ink did her best to keep up with her questions but had to stop Ielar quickly, and simply laughed asking where the new found interest was going. Beaming at her aunt Ielar explained she had discovered what she would grow up to become, and it was all because of Rigattoni.

It took Aunt Inkheart a moment to realize who Ielar spoke of, but she laughed when she understood the young girl meant the vulpix. He was barely 3 hours old and Ielar had named him after the dinner they were currently eating. The next morning Ielar’s aunt slipped into the hatchery to speak with her ninetails, and when Ielar left for home a week later Rigattoni, nicknamed Toni, was glued to her hip.
It was over the course of the next fews years that Ielar trained with Toni to take the pokemon trainer’s exam. It was the one prerequisite her parents had if she wanted to go explore and study the pokemon world to further her goal as a world class breeder. After she failed the exam the first time she studied harder and aced the exam a year later. She bought her first set of pokeballs with some extra currency she had made off a commission, and used one of them to house Toni, who really preferred to travel outside of the pokeball at first.

Ielar’s second pokemon was a smeargle she named Basil. She knew if she trained Basil properly he could help to create beautiful images and two artists were better than one. Toni and Basil became thick as thieves, each with their own ways of causing trouble, but Basil’s was always a little more dangerous. He would often paint graffiti onto sleeping pokemon, always slower than he was. Ielar just laughed at her companion and would have Toni knock the poor creature out so she could clean off the smeargle’s handiwork. The team of two artist’s became three when Ielar caught Toni in the act of burning images into wood. She quickly offered to help him learn to draw to help his technique. After all, it couldn’t hurt to have extra means to deal out the occasional commission when money became scarce.

Ielar obtained a female flygon called Oasis when she related to her aunt the tale of Toni fighting against a particularly dangerous quagsire. Though Ielar tried to protest, knowing Oasis was Aunty Ink’s most dear companion, her aunt would not let her back out of the ordeal, explaining that Oasis would be an ideal Flygon for breeding thanks to her spped and strength. She gave Ielar a pair of Go-Goggles and a firestone for Toni. However, Ielar never evolved Toni, believing he should be allowed to choose when he wanted to evolve.

Ielar was getting ready to tread water in Johto when the change happened. She had stopped in the cave between the two regions for the night. She had been sleeping when the flash of light swept both regions, but it was not the brightness that awoke her. It was Basil calling out that had woken her up. She knew there was trouble when he snarled in a tone she had never heard in her life. By the last flickering lights of the fire, she realized several things were wrong. Basil’s eyes were wild with rage and fear, she would later come to recognize this as an early feral stage. He was attacking a large graveler, one that had been covered in the graffiti work of the Smeargle. Before Ielar even had time to call a counter attack she heard a horrible crack of heavy rock smashing into the small artistic pokemon. Out of rage she yelled for Oasis and Rigattoni to finish the pokemon while she checked on Basil.

Her eyes only had to see the limp body of her companion to know not even the Pokemon Center could help him now. She cradled his limp body for an indeterminate period of time, and only came out of her stupor when Toni licked her cheek. Doing her best to give Basil a burial she left the cave with her remaining two pokemon. She was not expecting to see the wasteland that greeted her eyes.
She had Oasis fly over the small lake to New Bark Town, but the chaos here was mind boggling. Wild pokemon who were no doubt angered and shock by this sudden transformation were attacking the town. She tried her best to fight off the savage pokemon, but the weight of what had happened was quickly consuming her. She ordered Toni into his pokeball, while she instructed Oasis to fly to her aunt’s ranch. From the air Ielar began to see how much damage had actually been done.

It took three weeks for Ielar to arrive at Aunt Inkheart’s ranch, and she wasn’t surprised to see corpses of dead pokemon scattered across the ranch.. She could only hope her aunt was inside the main house. When Oasis landed near the front door she blocked Ielar from entering the estate. Oasis cried out at her when Ielar began to tell her off, and both quickly quieted when the roar of a pokemon came from the inside. Ielar prepared to have Oasis finish the pokemon if dangerous. When an older luxray propped his head on a window sill inside Ielar knew he was one of Aunty Ink’s luxray’s, he in particular was named Cassius. Her thoughts quickly changed from hopeful as she opened the door to find Cassius standing with a journal in his mouth.

It explained everything, the flash of light, the battles with the wild and tamed pokemon, and most importantly what happened to Ielar’s family. Her aunt believed her parents were dead. They had been on a ship heading to Hoenn and never arrived at the farm. Ielar’s aunt had protected her remaining pokemon from the villagers. She understood their fear, but she still believed pokemon could be trusted, and should be treated with kindness. She had left two days prior to Ielar’s arrival to try to reason with the town. She had a feeling she would not return, and thus permanently releasing Cassius from her possession. She had ordered the old luxray to stay behind and give the journal to anyone who might come by, but truly she hoped Ielar would be the one to find him. Ielar, though filled with a heavy sadness, added Cassius to her team to keep him alive. She spent a few days on the ranch before heading back to Johto.

She decided quickly not to let the sadness consume her as the journey to Johto carried on. The day she left the farm she not only took the last remaining pieces of her family, she took her Aunt’s ideals that pokemon and people will be able to live alongside one another peacefully again. She would show the world that, though imagery, through breeding well dispositioned pokemon, and through example
.

Bio/History: Johnny was born in the famous Pallet town, and attempted to live a normal life. He never listened to his mother, and always wandered into the woods to explore. He hated having to live in one place, it made him feel...cramped. One day, while exploring, he found a Pokemon egg unattended in a nest. Being the saucy boy he was, he stole it, and ran home. Unbeknownst to his mother, he took care of the egg, and finally it hatched. To his surprise, it was not one Pokemon, but two. Two Raltses in the same egg with their tiny hands clasped together. He took one look at them, and they him, and in that instant, they formed an unbreakable bond. Eventually, his mother found out, and tried to kill the Pokemon, for she hated all Pokemon; because they killed her husband. He tried to convince his mother to stop, but she wouldn't, so he pushed her. This made her go off balance, and she fell on her own knife. Faced with this, and the prospect of being punish for his actions, he took as much food and supplies as he could carry, torched the house, and ran away with his two young Pokemon at age 12. He grew up a drifter, and remains a wandering mercenary, doing whatever jobs he can.

Other: He and his Pokemon share a very strong bond, more than just friendship. They are like a family and have trust and respect each other fully.

Recieving his first Pokémon at the age of 10, Marcel went about searchign the land for new pokémon, studying the life of pokémon, rather than trying to fight them and gain badges, he learnt all about the different types of pokémon, how they feed, what social groups they form, all sorts.
But when the CHange happened, he found that he could no longer study the peaceful pokémon as, well, they didnt exist any more. he had to fight against them, using the only pokémon he had - the bulbasaur, who was nowhere near used to fighting, and so it often got injured, but the two remained close friend,s and managed to capture a staru which tried to kill them after it's home had dried up.

Around her neck she wears her brother's dog tags, and on her left ring finger is her brother's ring.

Bio/History: Dusky was only six when the Change took place. Her parents died when she was three when her mother's Ninetales went nuts and killed them; Dusky somehow escaped unharmed, but her parents weren't as lucky. As for Ninetales. . . . Well, no one knows what happened to it. Living with her older brother, who was twenty-four at the time, she thought life was wonderful. Her brother had an Arcanine, who was his first Pokemon, an Eevee, and a Pichu. When Dusky turned five, he gave her Growlithe, who was his first Pokemon. Then, for her sixth birthday, she was given a Vulpix as a present. Her second Pokemon.

Then the Change took place. One moment, things were fine. Dusky was playing with Growlithe and Vulpix in the front yard, when a bright light blinded her. Dusky shielded her eyes and the next thing she knew, her brother made her return her Pokemon to their balls and began to drag her inside. The light got brighter, and Dusky was thrown inside. She turned around, and for a split second, she saw her brother and his Arcanine running towards the door. But the light was too intense and she had to close her eyes. When she opened them again though, all Dusky could find of her brother were his dog tags (he had been in the Army, but decided to leave after he served his five years) and two pokeballs. She picked up the capsules and released the Pokemon inside. Eevee and Pichu. Arcanine was no where to be found. He had vanished with her brother. Being only six, Dusky had no idea what to do, so she ran inside with Eevee and Pichu and began to cry.

Several years later, when Dusky turned fifteen, she was much stronger. Her Pokemon, though still none of them were evolved, were stronger as well. Dusky decided that it was time to leave the house she had so desperately clung to for the past nine years of her life and set out on her own with Growlithe, Vulpix, Eevee, and Pichu.

She had managed to scrape up enough money to go to the Kanto Region, but when she did, she had to find a job. So, she travelled all the way to Saffron City, fighting off many feral attacks as she went, before finding a job as a waitress. It wasn't ideal, but it paid enough for her to get a small apartment and put food on the table. So, she still lives in Saffron City, waiting for the day where she can gather enough courage to travel again.
Other Weapons: Dusky carries around a small knife, which is kept in a holster attached to her belt. That's all she carries with her because she feels very safe with her Growlithe.

Other: Dusky may be strong, but she is easily distracted by cute Pokemon. She's also very fast and flexible and tends to keep to herself. Though she is a strong trainer, she doesn't like to fight, and will often try to talk her way out of battles.

Lily has pinkish-purple hair that goes past her shoulders, which she usually leaves down, and purple eyes. She had several cuts and scratches on her arms and face, and her skin is very tan, as she travels a lot. Her most noticeable feature is three large scars the go from the right side of her forehead and curve across her face down to the bottom of her left jaw.
She wears a pair of dark skinny jeans and a plain green t-shirt with a simple black jacket. She keeps her Pokeballs on her belt, but usually allows one of her Pokemon to travel out of it's pokeball (usually Feraligatr). She keeps her supplies in a blue messenger she keeps strapped across her shoulder.

Bio/History: When Lily was ten, she, like many trainers before her, got her first Pokemon. She travelled to New Bark Town, all the way from Olivine City to get her starter Pokemon. When she got there, she chose Totodile, as water-type Pokemon were her favourite. So her journey began.
Lily went around, collecting badges, but also catching Pokemon. She had caught a Hoothoot first, and then later obtained a Teddiursa. She was extremely happy with her team, and before she knew it, she had three badges.
As Lily travelled to her next destination, Ecruteak City, she ran into an injured Hoppip. She quickly helped the Hoppip, using her medicine to heal the Pokemon as best she could, and soon, Hoppip had made a full recovery. Then, when Lily went to leave, the Hoppip followed Lily because it wanted to be on her team. And so Lily added Hoppip to her team.
A few months passed, and Lily had returned home, having collected all the badges. Totodile had evolved into a Feraligatr and Hoothoot had evolved into Noctowl. She had planned to travel to Kanto next, and challenge all those gym leaders. That is, until the bright light came down from Mt. Silver.
The light engulfed the entire house in which Lily and her family lived. Lily was blinded, but she shielded her Pokemon from the light by putting them in their pokeballs. That's all she could remember doing before squinting her eyes shut and clutching onto her mother's hand.
When she opened them again, she was alone. Her house was empty. Her house was gone. There was nothing around her. Lily looked around her and saw the entire city was a decimated waste land. She could see her little brother, Ryan, hunched over two people, crying. When Lily got closer, she saw those two people were her parents. Lily took her brother, and what was left of her belongings, and left Olivine City.
A few years passed, and when Lily was sixteen, her brother ten, they were travelling around the region, free as could be. Lily was very happy, as was Ryan. Both of them hadn't a worry in the world, aside from feral Pokemon. And that's exactly was killed them. A pack of wild Houndoom had popped out of no where and attacked Lily and Ryan. Before she knew what was happening, the leader of the pack lashed out at her and swiped her across her face, leaving three deep bloody scratched across her face from the right side of her forehead to the left side of her jaw. She quickly released Feraligatr (she hadn't been travelling with Pokemon outside their pokeballs at the time) and had him fight off the pack of feral Pokemon. When they were gone, Lily and Feraligatr were left behind. Ryan was missing, and Lily knew what had happened - the Houndoom had took her brother for a snack. It made her sick to her stomach. She knew it was pointless, but she searched for days and days on ends. But days melted into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Eventually, Lily had to sit herself down and admit to herself that her brother was gone, there was no way he was alive. So, she and her Pokemon eventually returned to travelling around the region, seeking revenge on any Pokemon or person that crossed their way.
Seven years later, Lily in now travelling on Route 38 towards Ecruteak City.

Other Weapons (gun of some sort, knife, ect.): Lily is armed with a small pistol which she keeps in a holster on her belt. Besides her pistol is a knife, which is also kept in a holster on her belt.

Other: Lily is a very stubborn and quiet person, and doesn't really talk much. She's a great trainer and will fight for each of her Pokemon's lives.
