    Default Everdark: The Fall [M] IC

    Rated M for mature, May include but not limited too: possible Sexual situations, obscene language, Blood/Gore.

    When all seems lost in the realm of Everdark, and the great King Thrandir perishes at the hands of a great enemy, look to the sky and the stars will fall from the sky bringing the people of Everdark a new hope in the darkness. Heroes will rise up and challenge the great host of Beasts and return Everdark to its former glory.
    ~ A prophecy found in the ruined library of Irrandil
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~
    As the remaining humans emerge from the secret city that the King had built for them, they were utterly shocked at what lay in the shadows of a once great city. Bodies of both humans and beasts lay side by side on the field of lifelessness. Even, the grass had been killed from the blood that once stained the ground. Bones and armor was all that was left of the people that once fought this battle. Armor once bright silver, now rusted and taken by the touch of Decay. Remants of the battle that took place so long ago was everywhere. The whole city burned and was crumbling into ruin. The only thing left was the archway that once marked the great gates of the Stronghold of the Ancients.
    Sadness could be felt everywhere within this city. Great sorrow at the loss of so many loved ones, that it was nearly unbearable. Priests began their work of ushering the souls of the dead into the afterlife. The night sky twinkling with the millions of stars that seemed to welcome the souls of the dead among them. Sorrow, Pain, and Hopelessness weighed heavily on the minds of everyone within the crumbling city.
    Many fell to their knees praying to the Goddess for a rescue from this horror. Others renounced their faith and no longer believed in her or her powers. Many did not understand why she would let this happen to her greatest champion and her greatest followers. But, Destiny was a fickle being that could not be tampered with, even the Goddess could not control Destiny nor her sister Fate. Those two were beyond her power.
    Nevertheless, remembering the prophecy so long ago, the people looked to the sky and true to its words, stars shot across the sky in a brilliant display and those who were destined to be the heroes of this story suddenly felt this inexplicable urge to travel far to the west. To Nightshadow Grove, wherein lies the temple of the Goddess herself. The Goddess may not be able to tamper with fate or destiny, but she can outsmart them. She may be bound by the Ancient Laws, but mortals were not. She would send them to destroy the great beast king Barshulk and his minions.
    **This is what should be contained within your first post, you may add whatever you want, but make sure this urge is included... Wherever you may be in the realm of Everdark, you look upon the sky and feel the sudden urge to travel to Nightshadow forest, to Nightshadow Grove and the temple of the Goddess.**
    Airaion had left the safety among the human populace that had survived. He had seen the devastation wrought by the beast king and his army. He had to contain his rage and anger at the sight of the once great city now in ruins. He should have stayed to fight with the king. Maybe he could have helped to save the king at the very least. Airaion had sworn an oath upon the his soul that he would hunt down Barshulk the Murderer and kill him. He had no idea what Fate and Destiny had in store for him....
    Preparing to leave the city to find Barshulk, his eyes chanced upon the sky and saw stars shooting across the sky in a brilliant display of beauty, and deep within himself an urge to travel to the West was uncontrollable. It was like an itch that couldn't be scratched. No matter what he did he could not resist that urge. So, he gathered his gear and left the great city, his hood hiding his features and allowing him to slip by the human soldiers still alive and now patrolling the gateway for enemies.
    He knew not where he was going, just that his gut was telling him where to go. He trusted his gut more often than not, for it never lead him astray before. He had on his back a worn out backpack full of vials of poison that would come in handy on this trip no doubt. From the looks of it he was headed to Nightshadow forest, where last he heard Lady Marianna's legions took refuge.
    This was going to be very interesting indeed. He secretly hoped for some company on this road, but it seemed as if he would be alone in this fight.
    Fionn blended with the human population though it was quite obvious that she was not one of them. Truth be told, this was one main reason why she wanted to leave the undergrounds so quickly. Because she was possibly the only vampire that was there, people treated her differently. And it was something that Fionn wasn't accustomed to. Well over the three years she was use to it. It sort of grew on her, she began to like the quietness she got but the one thing she didn't like was the way they tortured her with name callings, sending childish letters and taking many of her belongings as a punishment. Punishment for what? Her parents helped the king. But just because the vampire race took the side of Barshulk, they looked down to her. But this really didn't matter. Fionn didn't mind their business even though they would often try to start a riot in her house but in the end, Fionn would scare them away. Through their eyes, she was a monster. Through the vampires eyes, she was an outlaw. Exactly where does she stand in this world. With a sigh, Fionn escaped the crowd that often pushed her and shoved her. They were still cursing her under their breaths. Even though they thought she couldn't hear them but Fionn did. She was a vampire after all. She could hear better than they thought. Fionn walked over to the debris that was left of the city after the great battle. She thought of finding her parents but she knew they were long gone. And beside, they would come looking for her if they happened to be still alive.
    Fionn looked back at the bunch of humans that emerged from the underground. She needed to get away from them before they actually did decide to kill Fionn. Even though she sort of liked being around humans, she couldn't be around the ones from the underground. They despised her and she despised them. The farther she got from them the better. Where was Fionn suppose to go? She had been thinking of this every night for the past week. And it came to her decision that it was best if she stuck to her own kind. She needed to earn the forgiveness of Lady Marianna whom was pretty close to Fionn, relationship wise. Her parent's and Lady Marianna were also friends but not as close friends as her parents and the king. So before the war started, Lady Marianna and Fionn developed a nice friendship. And Fionn developed an even closer relationship with Lady Marianna's son who was taken. But Fionn didn't really know much about her race's daily news. She had been separated with them for too long. Which is exactly why she needed to earn their forgiveness. She needed to be near her kind so she would not feel lonely. She may be a vampire, but she was still a creature who had feelings. And the greeting she received from the humans wasn't exactly welcoming. So that's why she decided to apologize to Lady Marianna for what her parents did. Which meant she was going to be on the side of Barshulk which she didn't really like. She hated Barshulk but she had no other choice did she? The humans wouldn't take her in as a citizen so she had no one else to turn to but Lady Marianna. Fionn sighed at the thought and rubbed her forehead.
    With a nod to a farewell, she began to walk away from the outskirts to what use to be the city. And that's when she realized another figure of a body not far from her. Well to humans, the body was far - heck, the humans couldn't even see this far. But thanks to Fionn's ability, she is able to spot the dark body figure in the horizon. Fionn grew curious. And as result, she managed to catch up with the creature unnoticed. The vampire was located on a tree branch, carefully watching the male. What is a human doing here? she tilted her head. Fionn jumped from another branch which made her ahead of the male. Silently, she sat down like an indian-style. " Are you not suppose to be helping your fellow race rebuild the damned city? " she asked out of curiosity. Fionn wouldn't be surprised if her had attempted to attack her. After all, he was a human and she was a vampire. The last time she checked, the two races didn't get along well. But Fionn was ready for what came at her. If it was an axe flying her direction, she would be ready. She was always ready. It was part of her nature.
    Jet touched his sharpened knife delicately at the point to test it's piercing power but quickly pulled away when he felt his skin about to puncture. The knife was plenty sharp, they all were. Most were even strung with some sort of booby-trap. They were all ideal fo heading West. Don't be absurd, Jet didn't believe in astrology. The whole stars reading the future thing was for whackos who couldn't accept that life simply didn't have a road map sometimes. Jet wasn't going west by choice either though.
    He was going by possession. He felt the presence as soon as he saw that comet pass through the night sky. He should have wished for immunity against the spirits and dieties. Something was controlling his most instinctive urges and though he didn't know what, he knew it wouldn't stop until he got to his location. But getting there wasn't a happy walk through candy meadow, mind you. It involved dangerous wood and unforgiving wildlife.
    Jet winced as he felt a rotting bone crack under his shoe. He needed to leave quickly, the smell of death was becoming unbearable. Not only that, but good soldiers' deaths. Both sides lost great men here, and though it may seem odd to recognize Barshulk's men as good, they were fighting for their own ideals. They died fighting for their own ideals and Jet found that entirely respectable.
    Looking around one last tie, Jet threw his cloak over his back and set off towards his destination, through treacherous territory beyond the great unknown. If Jet knew how to play the lyre he would have brought it for his own theme song.
    *tian happily whistled while riding along, matching the tune of his magpie who was sitting on his shoulder happily* you know maggie, i think this place looks like a nice place to camp.
    *maggie woke him early the next morning, the sound of people soon sending tian into hiding in the ruins of the building he had slept in. not long after he could see them, people emerging from under the destroyed city. grabbing his things he jumped onto his horse and rode fast, remembering the last time he had gotten to close to a group of people*
    after a little while of riding he looked around, finding himself near a forrest when he could have sworn that he had been going the other direction* what do you think maggie?......go in, or go back towards the city?
    Lilith looked apathetically at the mass array of dead bodies that littered the ground. It had been a very long time since she had been affected by the sight of the deceased. After all, it would be pretty pathetic if she was a mercenary that couldn’t stand the sight of the dead.
    She also wasn’t moved by the many living people were now mourning over the dead. Though she supposed that now that she was on their side, albeit temporarily, she was obligated to feel sympathy for them. Yet she couldn’t find it in herself to give it. She was already so used to feeling bitter to both sides of the war. After all, it was these people that killed her father, and tried to kill her. In fact if it wasn’t for Rogan’s death, the thought of killing one of them might have crossed her mind.
    Rogan. Even though it had been years since she had seen him last, the knowledge of his death still pained her. He had been her best friend, and really, her only friend. If he was still alive, would he still want to be her friend? Their bond was strong, but he wouldn’t like the fact that she was a mercenary in the least. Rogan had always hated killing and death, even if it was a human who died. She wasn’t sure what his reaction would have been if he had seen how she chose to live her life. But really, the way she saw it, she didn’t have much choice. She and her father had abandoned the other vampires who lived under the rule of the Lady, and after what had happened over the past years, most humans seemed to want to kill vampires rather than live with them. She seemed destined to be alone.
    As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she looked up towards the sky and felt some strong urge to go to Nightshadow Forest. She didn’t usually go off of instinct, but this urge was really strong. She decided to follow it and go to the forest. She moved silently away from her current location towards her destination.
    Why was she feeling this urge? Was this a sign from the Goddess? Usually the woman never crossed her mind, but that’s one of the only possible explanations that she could think of. As she was moving she saw a human male with brown hair traveling in the same direction she was. He looked pretty thin, but she knew better than to think of that as a reason for him to be weak. What was he doing walking towards the forest? Maybe he had the same urge as she did. Well, even if he did, it was none of her business, and she didn’t see reason to make it her business. So she continued to travel quietly near him.
    No one has the perfect life. You just have to make the best out of what you have.
    *tian stopped and looked around and whispered softly* i heard it to maggie, go see if you can spot them. *with that the bird took off, circling above for a while. tian himself kept walking along the edge of the forest. suddenly turning with bow in hand, an arrow already notched and drawn and aimed straight at lilith, the magpie sitting in a nearby tree singing*
    why are you following us?
