The Second Coming

The first invasion was an accident. Only by chance did they find us on Earth and only by chance did we survive. Our first contact with them was not hostile, they appeared to watch as we struggled to communicate with them in any way possible. It was not meant to be. Perhaps our actions angered them or perhaps they just watched to make sure we weren't a threat, but when they came they wreaked havoc upon humanity. The first battle was fought in 1905, our guns were little more than an annoyance most of the time. They were large, far larger than us, the smallest being 3 meters with the larger ones being upwards of 45 meters. They did not rely on technology for combat, it seems that anything they would have created would have been redundant as they speed, strength, and combat prowess were already beyond anything seen on Earth. They were quickly named the Valnan by a doomsday cult that began worshiping the aliens as their savior from the chains of humanity.

The Valnan were quick and efficient, taking out our largest cities at the time with little warning, as if we could have stopped them. They pushed outwards with a wave of destruction from the ruins of cities like New York, London, Tokyo, and Berlin. For years they slowly advanced their lines of destruction, humanity struggling to find a solution to the Valnan. It took a few years, but we noticed something that seemed strange about the Valnan. They didn't seem like an invasion force and it was hypothesized that it was merely a scouting fleet that happened upon Earth. While this meant that the Valnan saw humans as bugs under foot, this did mean there might be hope to counter attack.

By 1945 Earth's population had been reduced to only one billion, fifty percent of Earth's human population had died to the Valnan. Over fifty percent of the human population in 1900 had been killed with no successful efforts for pushing out the Valnan. Technology progressed in that time, but only technology relating to human survival. There was no consumer market for technology, there was only survival. Airplanes had been invented a couple years prior to the invasion, but seeing as the Valnan could take out everything in the sky quite quickly the idea of air superiority was abandoned. It wasn't until a light and mobile tank that fired an electromagnetic shell was created in vast numbers that the population in Europe pushed on the outpost in Berlin. By sheer numbers and the power of the newly invented railgun they managed to push the Valnan out of Berlin. Broadcasting their victory, humanity prepared to push on the other outposts around the world only to find that the Valnan had gone.

Flush with victory humanity began rebuilding, knowing that it would only be a matter of time before the Valnan would return. Without the stress of impending extermination humanity returned to a peaceful life under the UN. Countries that had existed before the invasion still had sovienty over their own land, but no one was concerned about war with other humans for once. The push for a unified Earth and progression has led to a permanent base on the moon and other technological advancements in the realm of space, much of which was derived from the outposts left behind by the Valnan.

Humanity has not forgotten the Valnan, even after 55 years of their absence. Now 2010, Earth has repopulated to 2 billion and is ever ready. Since the departure of the Valnan humanity has developed a bipedal mech, named REGAL that was designed for high mobility to be able to effectively combat the Valnan. A coordinated team of mechs could easily take on a good number of Valnan and would present a hope for humanity against and assault from the Valnan.

You are a UN pilot, selected to study for piloting the REGAL class mech. Your studies have only just begun and you won't see the inside of a REGAL for a while, but with the help of your squadmates you just might make a decent pilot.

2. At least one paragraph consisting of 5+ sentences per post is preferred.
3. Keep in mind that this is military so free time will be limited and in close quarters to others. Relationships will not be normal in this RP.
4. Keep it PG-13 at most, excessive descriptions of gore, sexual actions, or anything else that would push the rating above that should be avoided.

Name: Mila Bernas

Age: 19

Place of Birth: Opava, Czech Republic

Bio: Mila had a pretty standard childhood, as normal as it could be with the world preparing for the second coming of the Valnan. Growing up with two younger siblings (a sister and a brother) in Czech, living there for the entirety of her life so far. She came from a middle-class family and was slightly spoiled. Her father was an engineer for a local company and her mother was a stay-at-home mother, but did get the occasional volunteer job. Mila was never spectacular in school- but she didn't do badly, and her work ethic and ability to think rapidly brought her to the attention of her teachers. As she was growing up, her brother (who was only a few years younger than her) took a keen interest in airplanes, flying and jets; an interest that rubbed off on Mila to some extent, and she began pursuing a career in the air. At first she went into the mechanical part of flight, since her father was an engineer and encouraged her to do so, and she excelled. She took some piloting courses, and did well, but she preferred the mechanical aspect of it. However, she is quite proficient handling her own aircraft, and her ability to assess situations allows her to react quickly and judge what needs to be done in different situations.

Personality: Mila is very much like a sheep; she follows whoever takes the lead and flows with the crowd. She isn't known to take on any leadership or responsibility for herself, she is quite content to let others do that for her. However, if assigned a task she takes it very seriously and finishes it to the best of her ability. While she does get distracted quite easily, it is not hard to call her back to attention and she only needs a small nudge back onto track every now and then. Quick to laugh and slow to anger, Mila is very stable and is easy to rely on if you need a job done, or if you just need some support. She tends to be a bit shy around people of higher rank to her and towards strangers, but once you get to know her she opens up. She is a bit of a bully in the sense that she likes teasing people and making up jokes about others that she doesn't particularly like; which can put some people down. Her literary skills aren't exactly perfect, English is not her first language (Czech is) but she can make do and you don't often notice that she doesn't speak fluently. She has a slight accent but doesn't pay it any mind.

Notable Skills/Talents: Quick fixes / improvisations. She can make do with whatever she is given, or whatever presents itself at the time.

Appearance: Mila sports long red-blonde hair that hangs down to right below her shoulder-blades. Her hair is slightly wavy, but not in a huge, fluffy, poofy way. Her hair leans more towards the 'blonde' side than the 'red' one, but you can see soft highlights in her hair in bright light or direct sunlight. She is decently tall with a slim figure, but isn't exactly muscular. She has an ovular face that sports wide blue eyes with short eyelashes and has a more pale complexion, since she isn't one that spends that much in the outdoors. She prefers to cover up, though she tries not to boil herself with long and heavy clothes, and frequently is seen with a dark short-sleeved vest and capri-length cargo pants. Her footwear depends on the conditions that she faces, but on a normal day you will find her in flip-flops or running shoes. Her hands are medium size with slightly longer fingers and short nails that are clear and un-polished.

Name: Nakamura Hiroki
Age: 23
Place of Birth: Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan

Bio: Hiroki was born into a relatively prominent family in Hokkaido. His father was a respected robotics engineer, while his mother taught English to elementary students at a small private school. Hiroki has two siblings: an older brother named Ito, and a younger sister, Nazumi. His brother was stern and level headed, aspiring only to follow in his father's footsteps, while Nazumi's soft heart and loving nature made her a natural caretaker of small children. Hiroki's heart, however, yearned for something more, for adventure that could not be sated staying in Hokkaido. When he was old enough, and with his family's blessing and support, he joined the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. He soared through the academy and pursued a career as a fighter pilot. To date, he has logged thousands upon thousands of hours in the air, and has never lost an aircraft. Recently he has been running test flights for the experimental Mitsubishi ATD-X, which was slated for official public launch in 2014. It is suspected that his study of Tai Chi allows him to exceed normal levels of focus, and is partially attributed to his success as a pilot. Despite his love of piloting, Hiroki felt it was important to learn about his jets on a deeper level than simply sitting in the cockpit, so he spent extra time studying the mechanical aspect of the technology. This allows him to moonlight as his own mechanic when he has free time on the ground.

Personality: Hiroki is strong-willed and eager, but balances himself with honor, respect, and dignity. He believes that knowledge is a powerful tool, and strives to learn all he can about anything concerning his chosen profession. He has an incredible work ethic, but is not as hard-nosed as one might think. He views the world and it's inhabitants as equals until they prove otherwise, in which case he passes judgment upon them on an individual basis. He has strong family ties, and will not hesitate to defend them in any way he deems necessary. Generally speaking, he does not make new friends easily, but will keep friends for a lifetime, or until they prove themselves to be morally reprehensible. Hiroki has a competitive side, but keeps it friendly if possible. He has made a few rivals throughout his years in service to his country, but feels that they only force him to be better than he already is.

Notable Skills: Excellent combat capabilities, proficient in machine repair/development.

Appearance: Hiromi is tall and lean at 5'11" and 152 pounds. He takes care of his body, but doesn't spend hours lifting weights. He is stronger than he appears, however. His hair is midnight black, cut to a medium length to leave his ears and the back of his neck visible. Despite rarely being brushed, his hair is soft, with a bit of natural body that keeps it looking tousled but neat. His eyes are a deep emerald green, a gift from his American-born mother, setting him slightly apart from fellow soldiers. His body is toned and well-maintained, and void of body hair. Across his torso is the tattoo of a traditional Japanese water dragon, coiled around his body as if ascending into the heavens.

Age: 22

Place of Birth: London

Bio: Ruby was an orphan child, her parents both died in a horrific house fire. She grew up in an adoption centre, hoping that she would get taken into a new family, but that idea faded as she entered her teen years. The older she got, the more she resented the idea, and upon her 18th birthday she signed for the British Royal Air Force as a pilot. She excelled in all of her classes, driven by a deep anger and need to be better than anyone else. She made her debut within the RAF at the start of the war with Iraq, where she was simply scouting the skies for potential threats and saw a squad of soldiers pinned down in an old mortar hole in the ground. Relinquishing her orders, she dove from the skies and wreaked havoc on the insurgents. She saved the squad and returned to the rest of her duties...

Personality: Ruby will go out of her way to try to advance herself, whether that be her career or her personal life. She has been known to manipulate others in order to create the perfect scenario for her to display upon. Almost as if two people were trapped inside, she could be aggressive and dominant, or reserved and laid back. She believes that being at the top of the ladder and being better than everyone else is the ultimate goal, and this pushes her to train incredibly hard, revising for hours for exams in order to achieve the highest marks. Often prefers to run solo because she hasnt yet felt that anyone else could keep up with her.
Notable Skills/Talents: Brutal fighter, both in machinery and out.
Appearance: Tall and slim, Ruby had shoulder length blonde hair and brown green eyes.Often preferring to wear a black leather jacket and thin fitted jeans. She dons knee length leather boots.

Name: Ryougi H. Wright

Age: 18

Place of Birth: Tokyo, Japan

Bio: From his early age, Ryougi was shown to have more than average physical capabilities. He lost his father, who's a russian and his mother who's a japanese when he's 7 and turned him into an orphan. Those days were hard for him. At the beginning of his life in the orphanage, he was unable to blend to everyone and prefer to be alone. But, as time moves on, he's finally able to open up his heart and socialize with others whether inside or outside the orphanage. As he hit 15, he finally found what his future will going to be.

A pilot...

He aimed to be a fighter pilot in the military. As one of the oldest member in the orphanage, he feels that he needs to protect them and where they live. and soon when he's18, he joined the military and due to the military saw an enermous potential both physical and mental from the boy, they chose him to be one of the pilot for REGAL. Even though it was unexpected, he was more than prepared to shoulder the responsibilities. In fact, he's thankful for this opportunity

Personality: Even though he's appeared as a stoic person, the truth that he's understanding and able to sense other people's emotion to a certain degree. He also cares for the people he know while he doesn't show it easily and prefer to prove it with action rather than just talk. While he doesn't seem to be like that, he likes to compete with other and prefer to make use of his strength/speciality to its fullest to make up for his weakness rather than to fix his weakness as long as it's not fatal

Notable Skills/Talents: exceptionally high spatial awareness and very quick reaction time
