New Year's Eve.
December 31st, 2014.
Everything seemed so normal. So ordinary. People all over the world celebrating their New Year's Eve, throwing words at each other like "All the best wishes!" and sometimes even "For auld lang syne!"...
Little did they know, they would need those best wishes more than anything.
As unexpected as it came, there was an accident. An enormous nuclear plant, the biggest to exist on the face of the earth - built sometime in the summer of 2014 on a great scale within America - blew up and resulted in a meltdown. Millions of radioactive radiation, spread further than you could possibly imagine. Unfortunate people caught within the radiation, turning into mutated and deformed creatures. And it got even worse. As the radiation reached the graves of those who had died long, long ago... their bodies came back to life. The undead rose from their graves, terrorizing the world on this ever-so-happy New Year's Eve. December the 31st would never be the same again.
It is now four months after the outbreak of the undead. In this roleplay based on solely survival and character development, you will take on the role of a survivor. A human being, struggling to survive in what's left of the world. Undead lurking around every corner, and the occasional mutated humans that stalk the living as if they were prey. Your goal is to find other survivors to increase your chances of surviving. In this story, everything is permitted. Killing for your own good, even.
There is only one thing that counts for you.
Survival.

#1: No godmodding, duh. Also, no dictating damage.
#2: All RPA rules apply.
#3: Don't just kill someone right off the bat. First of all, you need a damn good reason. Second, if you want to be a respected player, let others have some fun too. And if you must kill another person, at least allow them to make a few more posts. Give them the chance of surviving your 'attack'.
#4: Every player that dies will, eventually, turn into an undead. This also goes for players who have been bitten.
#5: The location of this roleplay is California. Please keep this in mind. It would be a little inconvenient if everyone is in California and you have to make your way to it all the way from New York.
#6: Players are allowed a maximum of 1 character. NO MORE.
#7: The point of view in this RP is third-person.

Hometown: Texas Settlement: John occasionally settles down in the wilderness, where he sets up a simplistic camp with whatever materials he can find. He makes a fire to make food, but puts it out as soon as possible to avoid attracting attention. He sleeps in his armored van in a sleeping bag. Vehicle: John travels in an armored passenger van with which he has already killed many undead on the road. It's kind of his mobile home - he has everything he needs in it, including ammunition and emergency food in small packages.

Specifics: He has three scars that reach from his left cheekbone all the way down to his shoulder - a result of a mutated wolf attack about a month after the outbreak.
Fears: John absolutely hates spiders, but tries to keep this a secret as much as possible. Furthermore, he still has nightmares from the past of his father abusing him as a young boy. Likes: Smoking, guns, killing, the wilderness Hopes: To find his wife and children - they were visiting their grandpa in California on the day of New Year's Eve.

Vehicle: "Well if i say so myself my black beauty of a truck has kept me alive through this whole journey, my dad gave me the black stallion when I was 20 and has still held up since. Sure it is hard to find gas but when I do i use it wisely on my truck."

@Inkisdorian: Before I accept your character, I'd rather you use a more realistic picture for an appearance. Also, you state his hometown as San Francisco, but his settlement is apparently a barricaded classroom. Since you describe this as his current settlement, I'm kind of confused if that classroom is in San Francisco or in California.
Okay, great, just one thing; if his settlement is in San Francisco, he has to make his way all to California in order to properly interact with the other players.
That doesn't really matter all that much. I understand California is a big place, but that's where the RP focuses on. Just California. Doesn't really matter where, you'll find each other eventually. We don't have to get realistic with distances here.
