Who are you? Do you know? Of course you do, or so you think...
You, my dear, have a hidden past. You are an immortal: a Greek God or Goddess to be exact. But you don't remember that, now do you? You don't remember how you used to control the world and make it flourish or die. Nor do you remember how you used to smite or help the mere mortals that lived in this world. To you, you are just a myth now. You are a story to tell others that is in no way true.
And it's all thanks to Hera...
Spoiler: The StoryThe story takes place in America in the Modern Day. You've lived your life as a normal mortal in a normal city with a normal family and normal friends with absolutely no strange powers or anything like that. However, your true past has been hidden from you. It's still there, before a certain incident has caused you to forget.
This incident happened in the ancient days during the Trojan War. If you can recall for the mortals' Greek Mythology books, the Trojan War began because of a golden apple. This golden apple was meant for the fairest of all goddesses. Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite fought over which of them it was meant for. Paris from Troy wound up being caught in the middle of this argument. Each of the goddesses tried to bribe him into picking them as the most beautiful goddess. Aphrodite eventually won the struggle by offering Paris the most beautiful mortal woman, the Spartan Queen Helen.
However, Helen was already married to Menelaus. When Paris abducted Helen, a war broke out. This war was ultimately won by Athena using the Trojan Horse... blah blah blah... You get the gist.
The end of this war was never seen by the gods though. A series of events triggered by Hera prevented this and ultimately brought you and the rest of the immortals to the mortal world as, well, mortals.
You see, Hera wasn't in such a sweet spot. Between Zeus' nerve-wracking unfaithfulness, her anger at not being chosen as the fairest of goddesses, and the whole Trojan War, she wasn't exactly happy. She felt a need to change something; anything.
At that time, Circe had developed a new and strange sort of spell that she had been dying to try out. This spell would cause any immortals of her choosing to become a technical mortal. They would believe they were mortal, they would live as mortals, and they would age as mortals, but several things were different from mortals. Every time they died as a mortal, they were reborn as a mortal. Also, all immortal tasks they were in charge of would continue to be done, but in their subconscious. This allowed the possibility that the memories could return. Once those memories returned, they would regain control of their godly powers, but they would not return to being immortal.
There are only two ways to break this spell. Either all those who have had the spell cast on them regain their memories or Circe lifts the spell herself.
Hera agreed to allow this spell to be cast by Circe on nearly every immortal. However, a slight mishap in the casting of this spell caused every major and many minor immortals to become technical mortals: Circe and Hera included.
Many cycles of life and death have occurred for the now mortal immortals, and it has now entered the 21st century.Spoiler: SettingIn your newest cycle of life, you find yourself in 21st Century Seattle, Washington.Spoiler: Your GoalSpoiler: ProtagonistsYour goal is relatively simple. You must regain your memories and break the spell. However, you must keep the truth from the true mortals. If the truth is revealed, there is a guarantee for chaos.
One last thing: try not to die. If you die and you have regained your memories, you will forget those memories once again upon your rebirth.Spoiler: AntagonistsYou must prevent the spell from being broken using any technique of your choice; including murder. However, if you are not careful, you may cause more trouble than intended.Spoiler: NeutralYou don't really have a goal. You can basically do what you want, but remember, what you do now may work against you later if you ever choose to join a side.Spoiler: Rules1. General knowledge of Greek Mythology is required.
