(OOC) Firefly, post Serenity RP [PG-13]

Idea is bassed off the short lived television show named FireFly and the movie that followed it named Serenity.

Spoiler: History of the Universe before now: 

Earth (or The Earth-that-was) was becoming over crowded and Earth was becoming unable to sustain the amount of people on her, so, each ruling body decided to send people out into space, to live on other planets. With that, another solar system was found, one with many planets and many moons. Each planet was uninhabitable until they were terraformed, a process taking many years to make the planets as Earth-like as possible. The inner planets made up the Alliance and the Parliament, the ruling bodies of the human race. As for the Outer planets, they were more savage, very little to live on. The Alliance said they ruled over all the planets in the system, the people that lived on the outer planets didn't agree seeing how they didn't receive any help or got very little aid. So a war broke out between the Alliance and The Allied Independent Planets (Brown Coats). The war was bloody and brutal, no place was more devastating then the planet Harra where the battle of Serenity Valley took place. The Independent army held there ground there for 8 weeks, and two of them they were cut off, surrounded, and negotiations were under way. 68 percent death rate. People say that Serenity Valley was the Independent's last stand, that the war ended in that valley, even though it last a little longer. The war united the entire System under the Alliance. Some people still believe that the war isn't over, that the outer planets still believe that they don't need to follow what the Alliance says, to others it's a silent rumor. As for others like Malcolm Reynolds, who served in Serenity Valley as a Sargent, is Captain of a Firefly ship named Serenity, he finds his way by doing what he wants no matter if it deals with the Alliance.

The society has changed as well. The biggest two super powers united the world, USA and China. The two cultures are now mixed, everyone can speak English and Chinese very easily (but only seem to use Chinese to curse with, why I don't know). These two also helped form the bases for the Alliance. In everyday stuff like, walking into a religious building, or someone's home, you will see the two cultures melded together as one. You can also see this combination in the way people dress, and act. All the other cultures of the world did not fade away, they are still there, just the unity of the American/Chinese is the most noticeable. The Inner Planets are the most advanced, having the best of everything you could think of, while the outer planets resemble the wild west and it's bear-nothingness and how lawless it truly is.

The story would follow a crew of anywhere from 5 to 9 (actual crew and any passengers) around in space as they try to scrape together a living, avoiding law (when needed), doing jobs, and avoiding at all costs a savage group of humans called "Reavers". (IF YOU WANT A GREAT EXAMPLE OF WHAT THIS RP WOULD BE LIKE, PLEASE WATCH THE SHOW FIREFLY (CAN BE WATCHED ON Netflix) OR THE MOVIE SERENITY)

The crew would be doing what I'd like to call "jobs" and they would consist of anything from taking someone's live stock or random objects to one planet to another under the noses of the law due to the owner being some sort of nobility or government official, hence a crime for him and all involved since the noble would turn a profit. Stealing supplies that someone wants from trains or some form of transport, salvaging anything from ships that have died in space, or anything that can be done to get money and keep your ship moving.

Why avoid the law? Simple, what you and your crew are doing is against the law, if found out about and captured, each member of the crew would go to jail for a LONG time. The law patrols space, some of them over look the small things while others take their job with a firm grip and allows nothing to move without their say.

Spoiler: Reavers, the Boogie-Man of the 'Verse 

As for the Reavers. Something terrible happened several years back that the government didn't want anyone to find out about. Well someone found that out, and it was the crew of the Firefly ship named "Serenity". Once they found out what made the Reavers what they are today, they decided that the entire Universe should know as well. They did that and what every person found out was this.....The government was experimenting with a airborne type gas that would make the people of the planet less aggressive, well it back fired to where everyone just stopped doing everything, stopped moving, stopped breathing, stopped eating, stopped everything. A small group of the population had a opposite effect to the experiment turning them into highly aggressive murderers that killed every human being that wasn't effected by the gases by way of rapping them to death, eating their flesh, and sewing their victims skin onto their clothing, and allot of the time not in that order.(I'll be mild if this ever happens) The Reavers found some ships on the planet they were on, and took off the planet in search of more food, i.e humans. They patrol the outer portion of space, i.e the rim, and keep venturing in more and more in desperation for more food. Also, sometimes they turn their victims into a Reaver by forcing them to watch what they do to people, causing the one that watched to become a Reaver also. Why Reavers don't attack other Reavers is still unknown.

Spoiler: The Government 

The Government is a establishment of huge corporation(s) that goes by the name "The Alliance", they patrol the inner cluster of planets and venture further out to help enforce their laws and regulations onto the less civilized planets. Another form of Government that is hardly known of is called "Blue Sun", they are the back bone and do all the behind the scenes work that is kept hidden. As a front, they a modern-day Wal-mart, selling clothing, food, and the like to the people of the 'Verse. (Universe for short)

Spoiler: The 'Verse 

The system: The inner planets are called the "Core Planets" or just "The Core". This is were the Alliance has their foothold. Every law that is made is made in the Core and spreads from there. They are the most high-tech, have the best of everything and houses the very rich people. The outer planets are called "The Rim Planets" or just "The Rim", here it looks like the wild west, you know, cowboys and whatnot. After a planet is terraformed to support life, several families are place on them with the basics to survive, cattle, basic farm animals and items need to raise crops. Some survive while others die due to the conditions that's if they aren't attacked by Reavers.

Spoiler: As for the crew I would like to have.... 

The Captain: the one that runs the show and gives the crew orders as well as finds jobs to do.

The Second in Command: the captain's right hand man/woman, takes control of the ship once the captain is away. Maybe a old friend of the captain. A person who can give orders like the captain and only has to answer to the captain as well.

The Mechanic: the one that works on the ship and keeps her in the "air", and knows engines really well as well as electronics and the like.

The Pilot: the third in command (that's if the captain didn't name one of the mercs as the third, can't give orders unless they are the one in charge) the one thats...well....is the pilot, takes the ship to where they are ordered to go. Knows how all the components of the ship work (the ones needed for steering and some minor engine stuff as it pertains to piloting)

Merc(s): Hired muscle that helps the Captain do the jobs that keeps the crew feed, paid, and everyone alive when/if trouble arrives. Good with guns, knives, as well as hand to hand.

Spoiler: Other character types that can be played as but don't need to be used 

The Doctor/Nurse/Medic: with gun fights and the like, a Doctor on the ship would be liked, they patch up the crew when hurt/injured.

The Companion: A Companion is a registered individual with the Alliance to do the job of "pleasuring their clients", pretty much a legal prostitute. They get paid VERY well to do this by their clients, and it is VERY MUCH LEGAL as long as they are registered and have gone through years of Companion training. Highly classy, well dressed, very beautiful, smart, and good with words. On the Rim, some places have been made that allows the same thing to happen but the ones doing the "pleasuring" are NOT registered. Why might this be a asset to have on the ship? They allow the Captain to land on more planets so the Companion can do their job,(since most planets won't allow you to land unless you have a decent companion aboard) which allows more ways for the Captain to find work. They never service the crew members at any time, but can be friends with them, or become start to have a love interest. (when on a "job" say you are off on the "job" but never explain what happens, stating what happens (no matter how you word it) will kick you from the RP since I want to keep this RP clean. You can have conversations with your client due to that is one of the many services a Companion can/will do. I may (as the GM) take control of a Client and have them talk about information about a possible job that the crew could do or hint at something that could aid the crew if they are in a sticky situation.

The Preacher/Shepard: A man/women that believes in a higher power/being. They look for the peaceful way out of things while trying to keep everyone calm, hopeful, and doesn't partake in violence. Their over all goal is to spread the word of their preferred religion to the less fortunate people that have yet to hear "the message" of the one they pray to, or try to change people for the better over time.

Any other base character type is welcome so feel free to make one and/or your character anything other then what I stated above or below. Like a photographer, someone with a news station, musician, a person that makes cares, etc etc....(if you want to play a person of mystery, PM me your idea before making a character please)

Spoiler: Sub-types for characters: 

The Fugitive(s): A person(s) running from the law and needs to get as far away from the law as they can, their back story isn't brought up out of the blue, they try to hide it as best they can so they won't get caught, but once found out by the crew, tensions can arise and selling them out can become a option, as well as keeping them on board, that's if they are good at something.

Passenger(s): They can be a Preacher/Shepherd, Doctor, Fugitive, or anyone that would need a reason to get to another planet. If you would like to play one you can, state it on your character sheet as well as why they need to go to said planet. Passengers have to pay for their passage to another planet, reason for this is to help bring money onto the ship. You could board as a passenger and become a member of the crew if you want, but that has to be run by the person playing the captain, as I'd be cool with this.

Independent Soldier/War Veteran: One that fought in the war between the Alliance and the Independents (Brown Coats). Why they fought is a "hush-hush" topic with the character if wanted, can be hinted at, or can be wide open about it with the crew. As for what happened, as in the darker side of the war, is a touchy subject, yet known by the crew. If you do decide to have your character be this sub-type, then understand that the Alliance doesn't frown on the ones that did fight against them openly, but behind close doors they don't like you. You did get a medal of "Valor" for surviving the war seeing how...well, you survived. Being in a war meant you had a job, tank driver, pilot, sniper, infantry, heavy artillery, communications, or medic....However you play this is up to the player.

Ex-Alliance/Blue Sun: If a player wants their character to have worked for Blue Sun, they will not be allowed to tell any crew member this. Also, if I allow you to have worked for them, that comes with knowledge that I'd PM you about if needed, keep the knowledge secret please and don't tell the other players. Also, this comes with High training, skills with hand to hand combat and weapons. If you decide to work for the Alliance, keeping this secret is a must since you have/had ties to the military and could make the crew hate you or kill you. (working for the alliance will only be approved of by me and comes with knowledge, and training (not as good as the Blue Sun) and that you will not be able to contact anyone your character knew when they worked for them)

Mixing the Independent Soldier/War Veteran, or Ex-Alliance/Blue Sun with any character base minus the Companion can be done as well as with any sub-type, mixing the Passenger with the Doctor, Preacher/Shepherd, or Merc can be done, mixing Fugitive with Doctor or Merc can be done, Mixing Fugitive with Passenger can only be done if you play a Doctor or Merc.

Spoiler: What I'd like but doesn't need to be done 

I would like to have a balance on the crew gender wise, since that adds to some interesting entertainment and a better in-depth look to each of the characters as to how they interact with the opposite gender or view members of the crew. Also, only a few Mercs will be allowed to be played. Mixing can only be done if approved by me, but please fill out the character sheet how you would like your character to be.

Spoiler: How I will run this RP 

As the one that would run the RP, I will make twists and turns, exposing people (the Fugitives but not right off the bat...to keep it interesting), hinting at jobs for the captain (if I'm not that captain), controlling combat as well as the law, reavers, and other NPCs, adding in the random engine problem that needs to be dealt with or random control failure, maybe a little kidnapping here or there, and/or the random bounty hunter. It would be my job to try to kill off/arrest each character but make it as fun as I can for the players. This RP will go as far as the players want it to go, that's if they survive.

If I post something about the ship messing up or something the whole crew sees, I might just make it bland and colorless so you as the player can give it life and the color you think it needs, if I go in detail be warned -insert evil laugh here- This RP is futuristic, yet is to show how your random everyday problems are still there, i.e. food, money, danger, health, and friends/family problems.

If I PM you anything that is related to the RP, keep it secret or hint at it with your character as I would like it to look as if the Players are running the RP, key word "LOOK", that mainly goes for the person playing the Captain. The private PM is what I like to call "Privileged Information." No other RPer will get the same info and it will but to the RP I send the information to decide how or if they reveal the info in the RP.

Everything is on a first come, first serve basis.

If you would like to have something planned out with another player (i.e being Married to/dating another character, have some sort of history, or anything like that) make sure they are on board with it and please run it by me before editing your characters.

Also, if you have a idea for the type of ship that you think would be cool to use other then a Firefly ship with info, a map of the ship, and anything related send it to me via PM please and the person Playing the Captain will get a say in what type of ship they would like to be "captain" of, but I do have final say in that department thou...... any questions, please ask here

Okay, do it to it. I haven't completed my character due to the lack of people wanting to join. My character's history was going to be designed around those of the crew, not involving them but hinting at them in a way. Just wish this would get off the ground but since not that many people don't know of Firefly and it's greatness....

Weapons: A small sheaf knife.

Likes: Loves books and apples (green) as well as helping people out and adores the ship.

Dislikes: Can't stand animals (she hides away in the pilot's cabin when they have livestock on board and doesn't like people who pick on her friends.

Special Qualities: Lidia is very peaceful but fights when it comes too it, she is fairly clever and open minded she is also fairly capable with a knife. Lidia was the sister of Wash, pilot of the Firefly ship Serenity, and learnt to fly from him. As well as this, she can play the guitar and uses this as a kind of therapy.

Occupation/job on ship/Sub-type: Pilot, Browncoat.

Back story/History: Lidia was born to a Scottish parents, surrounded by Scottish people and so has a Scottish accent. Yet, when she was 7, her father left home and never appeared again so her mother married again to a mister Washburne. Both her previous and fromer family supported the Browncoats which is why she considers herself as one. On her home planet, she helped out her mother aiding the people of the town and, like her older brother, became fixated on spaceships. When Wash, pilot of Serenity and her step-brother, left home she practiced the flying skills he tought her and traveled with many others to a large school, sort of university, and here studied flying before running away from it and getting a job on this new ship as she wanted to follow the footsteps of her brother. After seeing what the Alliance had done and what was going on, she was even more determined to help out and now flies the ship.
