It has been years since humans developed the technology to enhance themselves, but that does not ease the transition for many people. Since the creation of the enhancement, there has been a clear favor towards the rich. Those who could pay, were given access at the beginning, and as time went on, those who couldn’t pay as much were given older models, weaker technology, and as these enhancements became a part of life, the less fortunate were left out of the basic necessities for life.
It was lucky that the war didn’t break out before it did. Of course, it really wasn’t much or a war. War implies that both sides have an equal chance of winning. It was a slaughter, the military, enhanced with the bio-electrical splicing, the military crushed any hopes that the ‘pure-human’ resistance had of success. The main forces destroyed, only scraps of the resistance remained, scattered across the world. Some factions remained that decided that in order to gain equal footing in both the war, and in the world, they had to compromise some of the original ideals.
The resistance decided that they needed to enhance themselves to survive, but many didn’t have the funds. These sects were effectively cut off from the others of the resistance. Once separated, the military was able to crush them even more decisively. Scattered and broken, the resistance was left with nothing. To fight with them to pursue equality, or to follow orders and crush them, it all depends: Who are you?

My Character:
Name: Elizabeth Atlas
Nickname/Alias: Gabriel
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Background: As a young girl, Elizabeth was in a very promising situation. She was doing well in school, her parents were upper middle class. Her privileged life wasn’t perfect, but it was good. At a young age though, her parents died in a train accident. Without any family to live with, she was sent to a foster home. Her new parents were kind, but they were poor. She was taken out of her nice school, and sent to the school in her neighborhood. Her adoptive family was kind, but being poor, they were unable to afford any bio-technical enhancements, and life was more difficult than it should have been. Elizabeth was always grateful to her adoptive family for taking her in, even when they hardly had enough for themselves.
Elizabeth worked hard in school, and eventually joined the military with hopes of one paying her parents back for her life. After training, she refused enhancement, deciding that until everyone could live in the future, she would stay purely human. She was placed in a position of command as she had excelled in training, and they did not want to risk an unenhanced soldier on the front lines. Unfortunately, her position as a strategist left her near targets for military enemies. A bombing at one of the strategy meetings she was attending gave her minor brain injuries and severe spinal cord damage, leaving her comatose.
She was able to function again by getting enhancements to her body. Along with standard military enhancements, improving strength, speed and agility, additional equipment was added to her brain to fix the damage done by the explosion. When she awoke, Elizabeth was a new woman. The enhancements had improved her mental capacity, and ability to fight, but it had failed to successfully replace some of her mental capacities. Along with her desire for self-preservation, she was left without emotion, making her a clinical psychopath. Soon enough, she left the military and became a freelancer called Gabriel Atlas, soldier for hire, looking for money, and blood.
Bio-Technical modifications: She has modifications to basically her entire body. As described above, she has standard ‘super soldier’ modifications that she has upgraded along with enhancement to increase reaction speed, and all around processing of information in the brain.
Military Connections: She used to be a rising military strategist, now has connections in both the military and resistance factions.
Any weapons/items of note: She uses a sniper rifle, auto-lock pistol, and a fancy lasery sword (THOSE ARE TECHNICAL TERMS SHUT UP) (It’s like a sword that has an electronic filament around the edge that improves its cutting ability).
Appearance: Gabriel wears black, military grade body armor over a tighter flexible suit. She wears a helmet that locks into her armor to create a seal that allows her to survive in environment with air that would not suit her. The helmet has an air filter along with an hour’s worth of oxygen. She will almost never show her face when she’s working, except to some people who she knows personally, or who knows who she is.
When she’s not working, she’s a pale girl with an angular face. She has high cheekbones and icy blue eyes, she learned to keep her gaze soft when she wants to keep a low profile, but her natural glare is piercing. She has long, curly blonde hair. She’ll usually wear a skirt with stockings and a white shirt, but will dress to the occasion at hand.
Personality: Gabriel is believed to be clinically psychopathic, meaning that she has no actual emotions. She has understanding of them, and can fake if she pleases, but does not have them. She also has an abnormal disregard for her own life, and the lives of those around her. She will do almost anything for the right price, and has no real connection to any side of the conflict. She doesn’t like to play favorites, as she has none. She hates being in debt, and will repay favors as soon as an opportunity presents itself.
