a roleplay based on the successful, though failed roleplay Concordia
Rated M for Mature. Contains violence, excessive language and gore
The year is 2578, known as the Third Age of Concordia.
In this world of fantasy and myth, where Wyverns roam the skies and Greyhorns gallop majestically across the land. The Third Age might be considered the equivalent to what we know as the 'Renaissance' - for in the Third Age, stories of myth and ancient civilizations are reborn. Elemental powers are simply referred to as 'magic', and the church ranks among the most powerful of sources - if not the most powerful. In this world, there is no such thing as 'witchcraft'. In fact, thsoe who possess elemental powers are considered the purest of humans. The stronger their powers, the more they are respected.
In this world, every man and woman is unique. Whether it be their powers, skills, class or even their race. You could encounter a fire-bending Dwarf who is an excellent archer and has chosen the Wraith as his class. Or you could come across an ordinary Man, swashbuckling his way through the world as one of the Ranger class. The world is richly populated and filled with opportunities.
It is for you to decide what your role will be in this world. Many things may be presented to you in this world, countless of open-world opportunities and stories forged with other characters.
Welcome to Concordia.
Spoiler: Brief History of Concordia
The sacred land of Concordia is an island within the skies, cast away from other civilizations. We begin in the year 1000, where Concordia was created. All of the years before 1000 are considered the 'First Age', the mythical age of the Gods.
When Concordia was created and populated with humans, the entire island was neutral. It was only through the course of time that four elements were discovered and that the Royal Academy of Elements was built. At this Academy, you could teach yourself to 'bend' elements - even more than one. In fact, when you mastered all four elements, it is said that you could also master the Quintessence - the fifth element... Darkness.
The years 1000 to 1999 are considered the 'Second Age'.
In the year 1999, a great war cleansed the land of evil and other corruption to begin a new age. The 'Third Age'. Countless new things have been discovered in the Third Age, from new civilizations and races to even newer elements. Next to the four basic elements and the Quintessence of Darkness, many more were discovered upon 'merging' multiple elements with each other. First, there was the new element of Light, followed by elements such as Lightning and Blossom.
It also seemed that every child born in the Third Age was blessed with an element from the very start - contrary to having to learn the element in the Second Age - and it was a rare happening that a child was born without one. However, academies and schools still existed for teaching elements, for it was still possible for one to master more than one element. However, mastering multiple elements took time and effort and most ordinary people were satisfied with just one element.
With the return of mythical tales and ancient beliefs of the First Age, people started creating beliefs again and they built churches. Many beliefs were created, and though all were accepted by the church, there was small rivalry among the beliefs. There were six Gods in the First Age, but only three beliefs were created.
If you were Primarian, you believed in the four primary Gods who created the four elements. For a Primarian, there was no God of the Light or God of the Darkness - it is believed by the Primarians that every single element, even the newer ones, is created by the four primary Gods.
If you were Nocturnal, the God of the Darkness was your one and only God. A Nocturne believes that the God of Darkness is responsible for every single element to ever exist, whether it be fire, water or even light.
Lastly, if you were Luxian, you believed the God of Light to be the one to rule them all. Not only does the Luxian belief say that the God of Light has created every element, no, it even says that he has created the world as well, and everything around it.
Before these beliefs were created it was believed that the six Gods created the world and elements in unison, but that image has now faded away. There are only a few who believe in this, and those people are considered Atheists - strange, for they do actually believe in Gods, just not the specific Gods belonging to a belief.
All in all, the world of Concordia is quite medieval in the Third Age, but it is not a miserable life for most. True, the Aristocracy and the Church possess far more power and money than the common folk, but the common folks aren't exactly poor either.
Spoiler: People of Importance through Concordian History
First Age (0-999)
Thrandir, God of the Fire
Before beliefs were created in the Third Age, it was generally known that Thrandir was the God who shaped the element of Fire and everything that revolved around it. With his powers he breathed life into everything on earth, from the plants to the animals and humans.
Aron, God of the Earth
As the brother of Thrandir, Aron was believed to be responsible for creating the earth, the basic 'template' for the other Gods to put their work into. Apart from that, he also shaped the element of Earth.
Lithia, Goddess of the Water
Believed to be the mother of Thrandir and Aron. She made it possible for things to grow and evolve on earth, allowing everything to have life in it before Thrandir breathed the life into them. She also shaped the element of Water.
Theorn, God of the Wind
Lithia's husband and father of Thrandir and Aron. He is believed to have lifted up Concordia into the skies and to ensure it would remain there. He also gifted humans and animals with the ability to think and to be creative. Furthermore, he created the element of Air.
Auriel, Goddess of the Light
As Lithia's sister, she brought daylight to the land of Concordia and is believed to be responsible for the good in the people. She shaped the obscure element of Light, which was only discovered in between the Second and Third Age.
Nox, God of the Darkness
Theorn's brother, who is believed to have had a strong rivalry with said brother. He considered himself the most powerful of all Gods, and brought the night to the land of Concordia. He shaped the all-powerful element of Darkness and blew evil into the souls of man.
Second Age (1000-1999)
Volari Temptatio (1160-1190)
Volari Temptatio was the very first witch in the history of Concordia. She discovered the element of Fire and wrote the Book of Fire Spells.
Volari was a very lustful woman, she used her fiery spirit to seduce men... which eventually lead to her own death. She was raped in 1190.
Avariteus Elatus (1245-???)
Avariteus Elatus was, in contrast to Volari, the first wizard in the history of Concordia. He discovered the element of Air and wrote the Book of Air Spells.
Avariteus - nicknamed Avari - was known for his wealth and was always on the search for more gold. He searched every mine there was, and eventually he found a secret cavern full of gold. He was never seen again afterwards.
Gunther Gula (1210-1260)
Gunther Gula discovered the Earth element, and on his turn, wrote the book of the Earth Spells. He thought Concordia should have a king and therefore he was named the first king of Concordia. He also thought others should learn to master the elements on a greater scale, therefore he ordered his men to build the Royal Academy. Here, they were taught fire, air and earth. The only known elements of that time period.
Gunther was incredibly addicted to food and feasting, which eventually lead to severe diabetes. He died at age 50 in 1260.
Ace Diaderam (1240-1300)
Ace Diaderam discovered the fourth element of Water. He wrote the book of Water Spells and eventually became king when the first king - King Gunther Gula - died. He also taught others the water element, but that was all he ever did. He was a lousy king and even worse than Gula, which lead to an angry mob murdering him in the year 1300.
Ira Ignatio (1680-1750)
Ira Ignatio discovered the Quintessence. The most powerful element, the fifth element. The essence of Darkness. He wrote the book of Darkness and he was declared Great Emperor of Concordia for discovering such a powerful essence. A statue was even built in his name, though it was destroyed in the war of 1999. He became tutor of the Dark Arts at the royal academy and he discovered you could be taught more than one element. With this, he discovered you were actually required to have mastered all four elements in order to learn the fifth. It required years of studying and you could only master it if you had pure darkness in you.
Many were destroyed or committed suicide after attempting to learn it.
Therefore, the book of Darkness was hidden away in the highest chamber of the academy, and they figured it was too dangerous to be taught to regular pupils. The book held all the secrets to mastering the darkness and could only be shown to those who were worthy of using it.
Darkness corrupted Ira's heart. And at age 70, he told the High Council to murder him before darkness took over his soul.
Invi Diaderam (1830-1890)
Invi Diaderam - a very distant descendant of Ace Diaderam - was the stepdaughter of the queen of the 19th century. She envied her mother, and eventually poisoned her so she could claim the throne. The High Council discovered the poison was hers, and she was thrown in prison. She escaped the prison using the darkness, and it is rumoured that she placed a curse on Concordia which summoned evil to plague it for all the ages. It is only a rumour, though. In 1890, her own darkness destroyed her.
Tiesto Magnifio (1870-1990)
Tiesto Magnifio did the most recent and one of the most important discoveries in the Second Age - the secret to immortality. Tiesto was a renowned alchemist, who had a brilliant mind at a very young age. He created a potion of immortality, but used it only on himself. He lived for 120 years - but never aged. He always remained the same 17-year old boy - although still brilliant of mind.
In 1990, he was found dead in his room. A spear was pierced through his heart, the murderer remained unknown.
The potion of immortality was never found, even though they knew he kept it in his chamber. The glass coffin where the potion used to be was empty.
Leonard Nox (1939-1999)
As Grandmaster of the High Council, 'Master' Nox was a great man with a reputation that spread itself all across the land. He did many discoveries and was one of the few who actually completely, fully mastered darkness. Besides that, he also was skilled in alchemy and was overall an extremely intelligent man. It is said that he perished on the battlefield in 1999, though an actual body has never been found.
Leonard Nox has also discovered the new elements next to the five basic ones, a great discovery for the Third Age.
Spoiler: Races in the world of Concordia
Next to humans there are many other races in this fantasy world. Here is a basic list of the Races that you probably know already, unless you've been living under a rock.
• Humans
• Dwarves
• Orks
• Trolls
• Elves
Now, here is a list (+ descriptions) of Races that are specifically designed for this RP.
• Orthogs (=an 'evolved' form of the regular Ork. These are taller, stronger and more intelligent than your everyday Ork.)
• Skroth (=a strange type of human who is almost skeletal in appearance. They usually ride horses and travel alone. Their skin is grey and their eyes yellow.)
• Treeck (=a humanoid creature that kind of resembles a tree (think Groot). Their skin is extremely hardened and they can regrow limbs that they've lost. However, speaking is difficult for them and they don't have a very long life span.)
• Animi (=their entire appearance is human, apart from their heads. Very much like Gods in Egyptian mythology, their heads often resemble that of an animal such as an eagle, a fox, a wolf, and so on. They can, however, speak normally just like any other human.)
Spoiler: Classes
There is another way to identify yourself in Concordia, apart from belief and race. You can choose a class. There are four classes in total, each with a separate specialty.
Wraith
The Wraith Class is directed at stealth and agility. A Wraith often carries a dagger or a bow and arrows, or just anything that can go for a clean kill without too much noise. They often carry light-weight armor in dark colours.
Ranger
The Ranger Class specifies in swordsmanship and combat overall. They're excellent swordsmen and can easily stand their ground in battle. Most soldiers of Concordia are Rangers. They carry armour that is a little heavier than lightweight armor, but light enough to swiftly move in combat.
Berserker
The Berserker Class is known to specialize in defense and heavy attacks. They carry the heaviest of armour and therefore move very slowly, but they do have a great amount of defense and can wield heavy weapons with ease. Usually they wield axes or other two-handed weapons.
Rider
The Rider Class specializes in long-distance. They carry either longswords or spears, and always a shield. They ride horses in battle, attacking enemies from above and far away. Their elemental skills are also orientated at long-distance, or defensive mechanisms. The most advanced of Riders also use the element of Air to boost themselves in the air to give them an advantage.
Spoiler: The Elements
The most important of all of Concordia. It is your primary and strongest weapon, and also one you can further develop next to other elements. They are divided into several categories.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Each character is originally blessed with one Primary Element, unless you want your character to be a Neutral of course. Besides that, it takes approx. 5 years for one to master another element. Keep this in mind when creating your character.
The Pure Elements
The pure elements are Light and Darkness. They are the essence of the world and keep the world in peace. They are exact opposites of each other, but the one cannot exist without the other. Though heavily conflicting with each other, they know they need to be bound together in order for the world to exist. Neither are necessarily good or evil, but it is believed that Light is 'better' than Darkness. Darkness is often mistaken for being evil, but it is just very powerful and difficult to be used.
Light
Light is a power that is more often used than Darkness. It is easier to wield than Darkness, and does not require for you to succumb to the Light. Light became wieldable after it was discovered during the Twilight War. Ever since, a lot of brave warriors have been using it to protect their kingdom.
In order to wield the Light, you are required to have mastered Fire, Air, Water and Earth.
Preferred weapons: Sword, bow and arrows, shield
Darkness
Darkness is used less often than Light, because of its immense power and destructive nature. If you allow your Darkness to grow too strong, it will take over your entire body and turn you into an empty shell of what you once were. But it is very strong, if not just as powerful as Light.
In order to wield the Darkness, you are required to have mastered Fire, Air, Water and Earth.
Preferred weapons: Sword, dagger, knife
The Primary Elements
The more common elements are referred to as primary elements. They are much easier to wield than Light or Darkness, but less powerful. They, too, keep the world bound together, but are not as essential as Light and Darkness. The primary elements are Fire, Air, Water and Earth. Before the Twilight War, Concordia was divided into four districts that represented these elements. Now, these districts exist no more – but the elements are still used.
Fire
Fire is energetic, strong, independent and has an impulsive nature. Those born with this element often have a personality that represents this element. Fire is often desired by most people in Concordia, because they think it's the most powerful of the four primary elements. .
In order to wield Fire, no mastered elements are required.
Preferred weapons: Sword, chakrams
Air
Air is calm, though impulsive. Patient, yet destructive. Mastering Air requires a lot of precision and a patience. It takes quite a while to learn how to bend air currents around you, therefore those who are given this element at birth see it as a gift. Though often mistaken for weak, Air can deliver very powerful blows and rapid attacks.
In order to wield Air, no mastered elements are required.
Preferred weapons: Throwing knives, bow and arrows
Water
Water is thoughtful, friendly, and yet unsuspectedly powerful. Those blessed with the Water element are often friendly of nature and not easily angered, but when they get angry, they get really angry. Water is also mistaken for weak, but those who wield it know better. Especially when facing Fire, Water can prove very useful.
In order to wield Water, no mastered elements are required.
Preferred weapons: Claymore, staff
Earth
Earth is silent, rightful and does not judge. Earth is a thoughtful character, often mistaken for rough or aggressive. True, Earth is very powerful and destructive, but those who wield it are one with nature. They often take time in caressing the plant life, or sitting down and enjoy the breeze of the wind and the smell of flowers around them.
In order to wield Earth, no mastered elements are required.
Preferred weapons: Axe, broadsword
The Secondary Elements
These elements were discovered by Master Nox just before the Twilight War. They are the primary elements, but supported or empowered by Light or Darkness. For example, combining the elements of Darkness and Earth created the Blossom element. And forging Light and Air with each other created the element of Lightning. These elements are difficult to master, and their power is extraordinary.
Some elements could not be combined. For example, combining Earth with Light did not result in another element. Neither did combining Darkness and Air with each other.
Lightning
A combination of Light and Air.
Lightning is the element of electricity and storms. It is very energetic and impulsive, but not as destructive as Fire. Lightning is considered one of the most powerful secondary elements, especially because of its shocking consequences.
In order to wield Lightning, you are required to have mastered Light and Air.
Preferred weapons: Whip, sword
Blossom
A combination of Darkness and Earth.
Blossom is the element of thorns and petals – and the element of death. In the culture of Concordia, a rose often represents death or misery. This idea is reinvented within this secondary element. Blossom is often very underestimated because of it's seemingly innocent usage of flower petals. However, the Blossom element is very powerful, and nearly every attack you perform with it can prove to be lethal.
In order to wield Blossom, you are required to have mastered Darkness and Earth.
Preferred weapons: Scythe, knife
Blizzard
A combination of Light and Water.
Blizzard is the element of ice. It's a cunning and thorny element, using sharp icicles and huge ice projectiles as the base of its attacks. With the power of this element, your techniques vary from firing icicles at opponents to freezing them with an icy breath.
In order to wield Blizzard, you are required to have mastered Light and Water.
Preferred weapons: Shield, staff
Ethereal Essence
A combination of Darkness and Fire.
The Ethereal Essence is a neon-like power, sometimes referred to as space or lasers. It enables the user to create laser-like projectiles, blades forged out of lasers or fire lasers at the opponent. Basically, its effect is almost identical to Lightning, except that the Ethereal Essence leaves a burn instead of a shock.
In order to wield the Ethereal Essence, you are required to have mastered Darkness and Fire.
Preferred weapons: Ethereal blade, sword
Illusion
A combination of Darkness and Water.
Illusion is the element of dreams, nightmares and trickery. With the element of Illusion, one can create clones of himself or imitate others. He can even mimic another one's powers after 'absorbing' them. It is a spiritual element and not very often used, for it comes with a high price: one must sacrifice any other elements he or she has mastered, and from then on the wielder may and can only wield the element of Illusion.
In order to wield Illusion, you are required to have mastered Darkness and Water.
Preferred weapons: Staff, shield
Time
A combination of Darkness, Light, Fire, Air, Water and Earth.
An extremely, EXTREMELY rare element to master. Up until now, it has never been used by anyone – but the Concordians are aware of its existence. It is so very difficult to master and very confusing. But it pays off when you go through all the years of mastering every single element there is. It enables you to bend time to your will. Time will become your playground once you master it. You can undo and redo everything that has happened or will happen. Time is the only element that can defy any other element.
In order to wield Time, you are required to have mastered every Pure element and every Primary element.
Preferred weapons: Anything

Spoiler: The Nemesis System
(for you nitpickers out there, yes, this is a system directly taken from 'Shadow of Mordor'. Deal with it)
The Nemesis System is a system controlled by the GM (Craze) which continuously creates new enemies within the world. These enemies are randomly generated depending on the circumstances, and they will respond to other characters and remember previous encounters. Basically, it gives you something to do.
For example, I could at any given moment 'spawn' a named Ork warchief into the world, and bring him to your hometown. Should you do something about it and cause the Ork warchief to retreat, he will remember you and this will create a small in-depth relationship with an NPC character.
Some of the Nemesis enemies may be important to the story, others won't be. Like I said it's basically something to keep you entertained, among the many other random events.
