Darryl followed the others to the chopper, sizing it up as he approached it. Its build reminded him of a huge mechanical dragonfly, though he knew it was much faster than any bug. He double-checked the safety on his weapon, then climbed inside and took a seat. The pilot, whom Fox addressed as 'Aardvark', asked them if they were ready. Darryl nodded in response, not bothering to speak as he glanced out the window at the others left behind on the tarmac. He wondered if he'd ever be brought back to this place again.

Mathias glanced at Kyda. She looked like she was suffering very much. He wanted to say something, but couldn't think of anything. He absent mindedly adjusted the bandana on his head. "So, what's the story behind the names?" Mathias asked casually.

Jackal turned his head, "Oh, the animals?" he replied. He paused for a moment, then replied, "It's the Beast's thing. I don't really know the story behind it to tell you the truth. But every person we bring in gets a new name. You'll get one too, if you decide to stay."

The last words hit Mathias. Were they really going to try and recruit him? After all this? They were crazy. Or perhaps it was just another part to this mystery he was missing all the parts of.

James looked out the side quietly as the helicopter lifted into the air. For a moment he felt at peace watching the landscape go by from above. It was an captivating country, that was for sure. As they flew over uninhabited plains, he saw herds of zebras and gazelles prance across the landscape, and a group of elephants bahting in a river.

Fox tapped him on the shoulder, "Awesome isn't it." He nodded back. They soon left behind the never ending savannah and flew over a thick jungle. Fox spoke up, "Alright, we're near the LZ. You guys ready?" James nodded. The helicopter circled a cleared out section of the jungle where a lone, concrete building sat, with a large satellite dish ontop of it.

It descended and landed next to the entrance of the building. "Make sure to watch out for traps and security systems. Whoever took this place out probably knew we'd come check on it," Aardvark warned. "Thanks for the lift!" Fox yelled jumping out. James followed him.

When Fox spoke, Darryl quickly brought his wandering thoughts back to attention. "Ready," he confirmed. He'd been leaning back comfortably in his seat, but now he leaned forward to watch their descent. The only human habitation in sight was a small building with a satellite dish; Darryl guessed that it was this installation that had gone silent. Once the others had gotten out of the chopper, he followed them. "Thanks," he said to the pilot, his words whipped away by the rotowash from the spinning blades. "Fox, where do we go from here?"

"Just stay close behind me," Fox replied to Darryl. Once the noise of the helicopter left, the Jungle was eerily quiet. Fox went up to the building and leaned on the wall, hand signaling for James and Darryl to follow. Vines and foliage were growing on the walls and around the outer edge. Fox creeped his way to the corner, then poked his head around. Nothing was there except for a metal door which was lying on the ground detached about 10 feet from the building. As fox crept forwards, he noticed the door was heavily beaten, probably by whoever had attacked the place.

Fox moved next to the entrance, putting his finger over his lips signaling for them to be quiet. He spun around with his rifle aiming inside, then relaxed. "It's abandoned, lets move. I'll try and get the lights on." Fox pulled out a flashlight from his pack and turned it on, shining inside. Inside the room were several sets of long desks with computers on them. Some were smashed or thrown on the ground, but a few appeared to be in good condition.

There was a camera just above the door, but it was out with the power. James looked around the dark, windowless room, before turning and taking a second look at the detached door. "You know what's strange, the door was breached from the inside...not the outside. Look at the dents in it."

"Barring spies or cabin fever, I can't think of many reason why that door would be attacked from the inside," Darryl said. He dropped one hand to his belt, double-checking that his knife was still there. "What kind of large-scale wildlife is around here? Any reports of wild cats or genetic experiments?"

Darryl was starting to wonder just what this base had been here for. Under normal circumstances, his questions could have sounded a bit strange - genetic experiments, really? - but these didn't seem like normal circumstances. The jungle around them was quiet, too quiet. In the absence of the noise from the helicopter, Darryl could hear nothing. Not even insects, frogs, or birds. Something was wrong.

Kyda looked up as Mathias asked their escorts about their names. It hadn't even occurred to her that all their names where that of animals and it wasn't coincidental.
She couldn't help the snort that came from her as Jackal explained that the Beast was responsible for it and that they would get their own if they stayed.

"You expect anyone to WANT to stay on? Or is it not really a choice?" Kyda questioned her tone more then a little condescending.

Fox laughed, "There's certainly big cats around here, but they wouldn't attack like this. As for genetic experiments, I don't think the Beast is working on something like that, but then again if he was, he wouldn't tell me." Fox started walking around the room, looking at the equipment. He kicked a few bullet shells lying on the ground, making a ping sound.

"Well........somebody was shooting," Fox said. There were thee other doors in the room. Two metal ones on each side leading to another area, and a third large metal security door with a biohazard symbol on it. A sign above it read, "Keep door closed." It was cracked enough for a person to fit through.

James followed them in, trying to see in the dark room. Fox entered one of the side doors into another room. "I'll get the power on, there should be emergency lights." Fox fumbled around for a moment, before the lights came back to life, illuminating the room. A single computer also turned on, the rest still dead.

Fox came back in. "I'll check this computer, you guys look around for anything else." James started walking over to the security door. He looked down and saw a streak of dried blood on the floor. "Blood over here. No bodies though." He then observed a claymore mine on the ground, pointed in the direction of the door.

Jackal smiled, "Most do. If not for the money....for something else." Wolf tapped Jackal on the shoulder. "We need to get going," he said. Jackal looked at Mathias, "Ok, follow behind us, stay quiet. Kyda, stay here and guard the boat. If anyone tries to get near it that isn't us, shoot them. Try not to pass out on us."

Mathias took out his phone, and held it out Kyda, "I know yours is...broken. I figured you shouldn't be left here without communication incase...incase something happens."

Kyda thought about Jackal had said for a moment, wondering who could possibly want this kind of life.
She was a little taken aback when Jackal commanded her to stay on the boat and guard it. Could it possibly be some form of round about sympathy for her condition... and them not wanting her to get them killed.

standing up Kyda grabbed her a gun and made a show to Jackal and Wolf of loading it. She stopped as Mathias held out his phone to her.
"Oh right... I forgot I did that." Kyda laughed nervously taking the phone with a smile. "Thanks, be careful out there ok."

"He certainly wouldn't be telling you," Darryl muttered to himself. He'd been in plenty of dangerous circumstances - at least he thought that was what his shattered memory was trying to tell him - but this still seemed all wrong. Fox kicked at the bullet shells lying on the floor and Darryl watched the casings skitter across the concrete like roaches from under a bucket.

Darryl glanced around the room once the lights came on. The claymore caught his eye but he didn't approach it. The blood seemed to be of only minor interest to him and he didn't approach it. "Biohazardous material," Darryl said, indicating the biohazard symbol on the door. "Anyone wanna take a look and come back with a third eye?" he asked with a grin.

"Yea, I'll try," Mathias said. "The base is just a bit up this way, move quietly and stay low," Jackal said. The three were soon out of Kyda's sight, and moving through the thick jungle.

Mathias stayed directly behind Wolf, moving as quietly as he could. Jackal lifted his fist in the air, and they all stopped. Jackal rotated his head, scanning the foliage. "Something doesn't se-" African men wearing camouflage rose out from the plant life, forming a circle around Mathias, Jackal, and Wolf. Mathias raised his rifle, but three more were aimed at him.

"I would drop your weapons if you know what's good for you," a voice said. A white man, with a bag strapped around his shoulder, and wearing civilian clothes emerged, and stood behind the soldiers, "The Master would very much like to see you."
    ------------------------------------------------------
As Kyda sat on the quiet, slowly rocking boat, the phone Mathias had given her started to beep. Once she answered, The Beast responded, "Listen very carefully, in a moment you will be attacked by several soldiers. Do not to attempt to resist, and it will be better for you. Try to hide a small sharp object and this phone on you. Rescue will come. Do not give in to fear."

The call ended, leaving a puzzled Kyda behind. A snake slithered across the water, and slowly and quietly onto the boat. It raised it's head in the air, looking straight at Kyda. Once Kyda noticed it, there seemed to be a familiar quality about this snake.
    -------------------------------------------------------------
James laughed, then peeked inside the door. "Man, it's awfully dark down there." Fox looked over to him, "Down?" James replied, "Yea, there's a metal staircase." Fox held out his flashlight, and James came and retrieved it. He turned it on and opened the door, looking down. "Hey, Darryl was it? Lets see what's down here." Before Darryl could answer, James started down the metal stairs.

Fox pushed back on his chair, "Hey, I got in. I'll check the security footage now."
