Default Purgament Pick'em - The Rumble Bracket Challenge

So those of you who are into sportsball may be familiar with what a bracket challenge is. For those who aren't, I shall explain. Our dear Kris has been kind enough to put up the bracket for this year's Rumble, shown here as well for your convenience.

All you have to do is pick who you think will win each round, and post it up in this thread. We'll progress as the rounds do, since there are so many fighters, so this first draft is just for who you think will be winning the first round. I'll show you an example of the format:

    Spoiler: Juicesir's Round 1 Picks

This is just for fun and bragging rights essentially, but I thought it would be a fun way to get some people who maybe aren't involved in the Rumble a way to spectate and feel a part of it, as well as shoot the shit about what we think the odds of each battles are. ^_^

Anyways, weigh in now with your round one picks, I'll post them up here for people to keep track of, and we'll see just who is able to pick the most winners out of the first fights! :D

Megilwen already PMed me about this idea, and I'm willing to give the 3 top places winners a title change as a reward.

No one has faith in me xD I'll make a bracket soon

If I win I'm going to shock everyone! And my bracket would be the best.

I was just talking with Kris about doing a Bracket for this + a reward. Seems we had the same idea. Great minds think alike.

Obviously, this isn't any reflection on the players writing the characters. This is based solely on power and my perceived compatibility of the opponent.

    A- Animator
    B- Pirate
    C- Swarm
    D- Chevalier
    E- Alchemist
    F- Duelist
    G- Ranger
    H- Mime
    I- Golem
    J- Enchanter
    K- Witcher
    L- Berserker
    M- Valkyrie
    N- Archer
    O- Shapeshifter
    P- Chronomancer
Be wary of paramilitaries. When the men with guns who have always claimed to be against the system start wearing uniforms and marching around with torches and pictures of a Leader, the end is nigh. When the pro-leader paramilitary and the official police and military intermingle, the end has come.

For each first round winner pick I was thinking just one, so that we can start off. And then we can either do it one of two ways.

Way 1, we keep going with 1 point each, so that the person at the end who has the most correct guesses will just have the most points.

Way 2, we spice it up, and weight and scale the picks, so for the second round it'd be 2 points, for the third it'd be 5, so on and so forth.

There's merits to both, and I'd like to see what people have to say, but for right now I think just Round 1 winners = 1 point. Thoughts?

1 point for 1 win seems easiest.

I based mine on the abilities, equipment, and weighing attributes against each other.

    A - Troubadour
    B - Reaver
    C - Paladin
    D - Engineer
    E - Acrobat
    F - Duelist
    G - Magician
    H - Druid
    I - Golem
    J - Monk
    K - Witcher
    L - Berserker
    M - Valkyrie
    N - Ritualist
    O - Shapeshifter
    P - Necromancer

    Reasons

I have the benefit of not actually knowing how a lot of the players write so I can be slightly unbiased. But it all really depends on said writers so I could be wrong.

A- I picked the Troubadour because she has a lot more she can do in a battle. The Animator will need to rely to heavily on the luck of the arena to have much of a chance.

B- Pirates are cool, but Vampires are designed to hunt guys like Cervantes. Big, boisterous, and hasty. And even with the possibilities of fighting dirty the Reaver's Gushing of Blood ability will put a hurting on the Pirate.

C- I'm for the Paladin here, though this could really be a war of attrition. All the Paladin can do is swing his sword and shield, but all the Swarm can do it claw at the armor and try to get under the plate to the man under it. But if the normal fantasy rules are in effect, Pixies are Fae and Fae are hurt by just being in close proximity with silver. And Sebastian has a lot of silver.

D- I would give it to Abigail in this one actually. Why yes Justice will outdo her in damn near any physical square off. But depending on the arena and how much Abigail can use Justice's whole "I'm right and doing good" little hitch in his powers to her advantage she could take it handily. And the Armor Disembodiment ability could be a deciding factor.

E- My money would be on Xomath here. Simply because he'd be much quicker at the starting line in a fight. Faust needs to prepare his attacks and aside from the Portal Circles he doesn't have much to fire back quickly if the Acrobat continues to press the attack.

F- I'm with the Duelist here this is one the most David-v-Goliath match-ups. Dagon is much stronger and much tougher yes and his little Murloc can be a pain. But Isobella is much quicker and has two times the attack possibilities. It'll be a game of dodge and strike, dancing around the Summoner.

G- I say Magician in this one. While her defensive ability is something of a big gamble her size and connection with the earth can be of great use depending on the arena. And her offensive magic attack can be a big help, and if Bianca can find a way to eliminate Jon's bow they can be a fair match-up.

H- This one is pretty quick in my eyes. The Mime doesn't have much of anything to use in a fight unless Fiona attacks first. And then it would have to be a miss for him to be able to fire it back at her. If Jack uses his Carnival Tune first he could live long enough to put up a fight, but I still think in the end the edge would go to Fiona cause she can actually keep attacking.

I- Jaco's pretty much said all I can say on this matter. Shale is a tank and the Soothsayer can only really run and defend unless she can arrange some trap to bring Shale down with.

J- Now unlike Jaco I have a good reason to say why he would win. The Monk's fists and attacks are considered Holy and Holy effects harm the Enchanter more. And the fact the Monk has a resistance to magic means many of the Enchanter's abilities won't work as well.

K- Out of all these match-ups this is the one I think would be the most hands-down in a video game/ real world fight. The Witcher is made for and trained to fight creatures like the Reverent. And giving her the silver sword before the steel sword is a clincher, once more if we're going with the rules of fantasy and the Witcher rules where nearly all monsters are hurt by a silver sword. Now that doesn't make the Witcher losing impossible, but if SherbertTurtle knows about the Witcher universe and plans accordingly a win could be easy. If I didn't choose the Berserker I'd have been all over this class and rocked it.

L- As douchy as it seems to have chosen myself to win . I must say I have a knack for criticizing and keeping myself humble. And while I don't have a clue how Rose posts, I know my record for Rumbles. And even with this I think Ra-Ja would win, these two are the most heavily physical fighters in this Rumble and they are basically the same char. Rage Warriors with big weapons and top rung fighting skills. But in fights like this, strength will more than likely decide the winner. And Ra-Ja is one of the three strongest chars in this from what I've gathered, he's behind Shale and either before or very closely after Dagon. He could just fight until Mala's power gives.

M- Once more I'm with Jaco's assessment. A lot of things would need to be in the Assassin's favor for her to triumph over the Valkyrie in a straight fight. Now Stealth can beat Strength, but Brynhildr has the advantage in close quarters and Galathea doesn't have a lot of range capabilities right now.

N-I picked the Ritualist here. While yes the Archer can keep peppering him with arrows, T'shuva can take him down a few notches with E'ma Adama and his affinity with nature can take away Gel'talot's hiding place.

O-This is another somewhat hands-down fight. I firmly beleive the Scavenger can be one of the most powerful enemies in the Rumble later on. But at this stage he is deeply underpowered and any victory will have to rely on the arena and how cleverly Wattz plays him. But in a straight fight Flemeth has it in the bag.

P- This is the most ironic fight and can end in the most ironic way. Death vs Time, and Sabriel
could literally put the Sandman to sleep and stab him in the heart with her dagger. Sure Sandman can be scary but with only small range time spells it can be worked around. The only real attack possibility I see for Persona is breaking the hourglass and using the sand as a weapon. Or just bludgeoning the Necromancer with the hourglass.
