Who are you?
You are a new recruit on an airship. It is your job to assist your crew on their missions so you can earn your payments. You will be working as freelance mercenaries under captain Rayne Bishop and quartermaster Arelynn Triste.
When are you?
The Steampunk Era! What’s steampunk? “Steampunk refers to a subgenre of science fiction and sometimes fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.” In other words it’s pretty technical, but not exactly modern.

Magic?!
While there is magic in this world, it is very rare for a person to be able to use it. Magic users are ranked from A-F with F being anyone unable to use magic. Those that can are very valuable as even an E ranked wielder can be very powerful. As there are few, people don’t know much about magic, how people are born with it while others aren’t, or the science behind it. Over time, however, there have been some discoveries. Magic can be manipulated and sculpted into different forms. Lighter and typically weaker magic can feel like air and look like distorted air. This can be used for simple things like lifting and moving objects. Magic can be condensed to give it a more solid form. This kind gets hotter as it gets denser, which can result in a look similar to sparking white flames if dense enough. This is normally used for creation of combat manifestations like swords or projectiles, or other things requiring a more solid-like state. Damage, however, is not done to anything physically except living things. While it is not certain, some suggest that magic damage to living organisms injures its soul, which is why there are no physical markings on victims of magical combat. A magical sword swung at someone would pass through them like a ghost, but leave them feeling immense pain. The same sword swung at a mirror would not shatter it, as it has no soul. Of course, this is still under research. Note: Magic users will start the game with no knowledge of how to wield it!

Background: River had always had a desire to travel and see the world. Since turning 18 she enlisted on an airship crew taking whatever job she could. She never fit into her family's trade coming from a family of politicians. Her father is an alderman like his father before him. Her great grandfather was even governor of New York. When she enlisted her father disapproved and refuses to support her. Which is why she hasn't been home for a year and half.
Role: Communications officer
Strength: Fluent in English, French and German
Flaw: Prior to enlisting she lived a sheltered life and is inexperienced.

Ethnicity: Scottish – Glasgow
Background: Colonel Alastair joined the British Army at he feeble age of 14 back in, Alastair had quickly risen through the ranks. Becoming a captain at the age of 20 and a Major at 32 Alastair was thought to be one of the youngest and brightest military officers. Alastair has served in the Crimean War and the Indian Revolution of 1857. However he tiers of serving the British empire, and is ready for change.

Strength: excellent strategist, tactician, and fighter
Flaw: Anti-social, drunk, and arrogant
