Age:
Mid 20's
Nationality:
Heimat
Place of Birth:
Kleine Stadt, Holstein (Provincial Capital of Holstein)
Libertatum Rank:
Petty Officer Second Class
Magic Class and Abilities:
Ada is an Metal Unimaster: meaning she can cast, shift, and summon metallic items and creatures. (By the request of Sunwolf needing a Reader) Another ability Ada has been blessed with is the fact she is a Reader: an individual that can read the inner thoughts of other people. Ada is limited to being a Cover Reader --essentially only able to hear the thoughts that take place within 20-30 seconds of a person thinking them. This traditionally serves little function as she mostly hears tunes stuck in people's heads, repeated phrases and reminders, and mostly small things people would like to say in real life, but would be too rude to actually do so. However, with a proper interrogation, she can be the key to learning very valuable information --such as determining if an individual is an Orb Guardian, for example. Ada normally uses this ability and the strength and clarity of the thoughts she receives to use it as a sort of "sonar" --judging the distance of a person by tangible degrees of quality. This is her most valuable trick to her original profession of thief (See Bio).
(TL;DR: She's scary with metal things, and can hear the rude comments in your head.)
Weapons and Equipment:
Weapons
All of Ada's weapons are intended to be modular to her abilities. Ada's primary weapons are small CCM throwing knifes she can either combine into a sword (via shifting), or be relied upon for quiet kills to prevent an alert. In a situation where a weapon with more heft is required, she has two CCM short spears she can combine (via shifting) into a larger and more accurate throwing spear. these spears are partially contained inside of two leather tubes sewn into the pack Ada conceals underneath her cloak.
(TL;DR: Pointy things. Soooooo many pointy things.)
Equipment
Ada specializes in lock picking using her personally casted metal set of lockpicks she can mold and form in real time to pick a lock in literal seconds. These locks she carries in a special soft leather wrapped hardened leather case with the phrase "Master Keys" branded on the front soft leather flap. She keeps a dark leather bag bound by a small metallic chain she can shift open in emergencies. This is her supply pack used in missions. This pack includes military standards of dry rations and water for prolonged missions, along with maps, small tools, and a pocket lantern with a small mirror that can be placed over to be used as a low-grade focused light source. She also traditionally carries the military standard .45 MCM rounds commonly used by the Libertatum.
In addition to this, she is responsible for the generic spare equipment on the job that is too much for other team members to carry on their person during a mission. Traditionally, she uses a special all metal shovel she shifts to make burying this gear easy on a mission in a two-phase mission that requires some preparation. She does not carry her spare equipment on her unless forced to otherwise.
Finally, on base (off mission) she has a series of smithing hammers and equipment that she uses for standard repairs of basic equipment on base --though her blacksmithing upbringing has been a source of tinkering for other people's personal projects. Research and Development is not one of Ada's interests (See Bio).
(TL;DR: Military people have to carry a lot of crap.)
Combat Style
Ada specializes in using the CCM equipment on her person to adapt to a large number of situations that can help her stay out of immediate risk. She specializes in stealth, aiming to use shiftable metal to choke out her targets carefully, or to outright kill them with knives and spears that when used with shifting can be accelerated into very dangerous projectiles. When outside of a combat situation, Ada can simply cast new metal to recreate anything she loses (as long as she has the time to cast all the lost materials). Against an armed target that can utilize specific ranges (Bows, spears), Ada is at a disadvantage because of her height (most noticeably against male/tall opponents). Though she has been trained for military combat, because of her overdependence on shifting, if she's caught in a battle that requires her to fight and shift defensively for an extended time, she'll simply wear herself out and wear her magic down to be ineffective.
(TL;DR: She'll smoke you from the shadows, but a prolonged one-on-one is in your favor.)
Appearance: (I'll try to make time to get back into drawing for this)
Height: 5'3 (Inch below average height of Heimat females)
Hair length: Upper back length, locked in a ponytail to prevent hair from falling out of place when in a combat situation
Hair color: Ash Brown
Uniform: On base, Ada wears the standard non-commissioned officer uniform. On mission, she wears an infiltrator designated uniform.
Key differences between a standard uniform and an infiltrator uniform are easy to spot. Primarily the standard navy blue, the core portion of the uniform is snug fitting to prevent snags, and comes with gold and red shoulder trim used to signify a Libertatum soldier. On the right and left shoulder is a patch in the shape of the traditional Libertatum military, with the emblem being a dagger within a cloak to signify her function, along with an additional V-bar underneath each patch to signify rank. For mission purposes, the decorative parts of the uniform are hidden underneath an over-the-shoulders hooded cloak that helps maximize an infiltrator's ability to stay hidden in the shadows. The cloak itself is a darker tone of the navy blue (with the given name “Midnight Blue”), though a decorative standard uniform also comes with a dark crimson color that is generally only used for ceremonial purposes. Gloves and boots are traditional black leather --with Ada's exception of a thin, metallic plating on her gloves she uses to shift.) Ada wears a specialized chainmail vest that is composed of two layers of small and very intricate rings that (unlike traditional chainmail) are all perfectly sealed as if each ring were always a solid piece of metal. This armor is concealed under her uniform. Small belts for holding CCM Throwing knives can be found on her person throughout.) She also has a small gear bag that she conceals under her cloak (giving her a very slight hunchback appearance from a distance).
(TL;DR: She looks like a Rogue, but a fancy, military approved Rogue.)
Bio:
As the only sibling to inherit the family "blessing" of both casting and shifting metal, Ada was brought into her family's trade of blacksmithing at an early age. Her skills were primarily focused on small pieces of intricate parts that she could cast and manipulate into the proper shapes. She lashed out against the trade by using her gift to become a thief, essentially becoming one of the best lock pickers in the Heimat capital. When combined with her abilities to skim the surfaces of people's minds, Ada managed to successfully pull off very challenging heists, earning her the title of "Der Schatten von Kleine Stadt. (Shadow of Small Town)" This gave her free disposable income to live the tavern life she loved while living up to the family legacy she was expected to follow. Her history is also the source of casting and shifting precision parts: raw training from discovery. So long as the parts are CCM, Ada can replicate the intricate small parts in firearms. In addition: her reader abilities help her do well in social situations while also knowing how to keep quiet.
Her abilities, at the peak of her youth, gave her an overabundance of confidence --a strong arrogance, most would call it-- that led her to be discovered by a Liberatum military recruiter. The chance to escape her family trade and explore the world outside the city excited her, but the brutal training from military life helped wipe her arrogance when forced to fight against more qualified foes. This has lead to a number of changes in her personality that will not be discussed in this bio, but will be kept separately for me as a reference sheet for things that I've chosen to have certain moments of snap judgement that cannot be immediately predictable from seeing this bio. (Gotta keep an RP interesting, after all! :P)
Most people see her as someone that can open up to others, yet uninterested in talking about her past. Though she's open to talk about military life (as is common on base), she will tend to make generalizations about many aspects both for social silliness as well as to skip over the details of particulars. She seems happy where she is, an yet unsatisfied. Naturally though, her entire demeanor is different on the mission.
(TL;DR: She's nice, hates her old job, but still loves her old hobby (being sneaky 'n stuff).)
(WAY TL;DR: She's a "former" thief. She grew up as a blacksmith. She can help repair your tools if the material was casted. (She could repair it the old fashioned way as well but needs her trade tools to properly hammer them.) Specialty is stealth and quick takedowns. Given she wears armors with some shift able metal on her, she can exhaust herself quick in a prolonged fight. Also you're lazy if this is the first thing you read, but I love you anyway. )
