"Since the discovery of the first Chimera in 1976, we have learned so much about ourselves as a species on both a physiological and a societal level. Through trust, patience, and understanding we have forged new technologies and new relationships with our Chimera cousins. Now, on the 30th anniversary of that discovery, I wish that peace continue to be the glue that binds our two peoples together, and may that peace blanket the world well into the coming future.”

In 2016, the first NIMA training facility is opened in an undisclosed location in the Alaskan frontier. It is also the first official Human/Chimera joint venture. NIMA’s purpose is to educate and train Chimera to be functional members of society or to hold military positions. It is not considered to be a public school, in that one must apply for enrollment. Though all applicants are initially accepted, the first week determines whether or not the student will be allowed to stay on campus. Those who are not accepted into the program are immediately but politely escorted off the premises.

Upon acceptance, students will be categorized according to the nature and degree of their mutation. Suggestions for focus will be given at that time, but each student has the right to choose their own path. If at any time the student feels incapable of meeting the expectations of that focus, they may choose one time to change their focus. If they cannot complete that program, they will be discharged.
