Napkin Poetry

This is a thing I've started doing on my breaks. Writing poetry on napkins. So I figured I'd compile it here.

Spoiler: Napkin Poetry I 

I am a napkin poet.
With not much space to write,
I have to make my words count.
Turn a device used for cleaning messes
Into a canvas to be admired.
I am a napkin poet,
And I will write everyday.
To try to learn how to make my words count.

I pick at my nails, when I get nervous.

Not biting or filing, I peel and strip them away
Like if I could peel away enough layers of skin
I could find the person underneath and have answers.
Like if I could peel and strip away enough of the layers around my heart
I could find the flesh and blood underneath to make sure it was still beating.

Like if by picking at my nails I can get rid of something
and start being the person I want to be.
As if something as simple as a bad habit,
Could evolve and bring answers.

But for now I'll stick to the simple things.
Excitement over chocolate cake,
A fear of driving,

And picking my fingernails when I get nervous.
