    Default Silvermoon Academy [IC]

The small clock tower that donned over Silvermoon struck eight o' clock, in the morning.

Various school kids walked to their respective destinations - classrooms. Silvermoon may be have been a school, but for the students, there was no clear cut subjects. The goal of the Silvermoon is to house its denizens free from those of society whom rejected them for what they were, and what they held in their abilities.

A figure, auburn flowing long side curled hair, and glasses, standing at about 5 feet, 7 inches watched upon her office window, as her school was once again alive with activity. A smile brimming along her face, short strides made outside to her office, down two sets of stairs.

    However,

Those nearby to witness the woman, saw nothing but a blurry vision of multiple images, soon disappearing one after another. Eyes being rubbed and thought to be playing tricks on them, those who are unaware steady their vision on the individual that founded Silvermoon Academy - Althea Talnis.

Making her way outside to the main entrance of the study block, hands pushed outwards, opening two tall doors, revealing an open courtyard, sun shining down on two central fountains, one depicting that of an angel, flowing water into a small pond.

    Spoiler: Silvermoon Courtyard
She watched silently, as a batch of new students were being guided in and ushered in front of Althea.

She was expecting twelve new students, and was looking forward to working with them. Some names rung bells of familiarity in her head, as some of them related to former alumni.

Gazing upon a piece of paper she held in her right hand, names were listed by order of last name -

    Remi Faye Ambrose
    Missy Bedford
    Lucia Rose Bellsworth
    Sasha Feinberg
    Scarlet Lancaster
    Jasper McKnight
    Hanon Merriweather
    Hideki Raki
    Flynn Ross
    Wynter Solace
    and Kale White

One remains unlisted, due to not having sufficient information on the individual.

Bowing, hands on her waist, as she held her head down briefly.

A graceful tone in her voice, her lips moved, and became audible -

"Greetings, young ones, of the future Silvermoon. I am Althea Talnis, humble and grateful that you've accepted my offer to be a part of Silvermoon Academy.

I stand before you as the headmistress, and I have personally sought you out to offer you a new take on life. For what you hold, puts you in constant danger, and considered a threat to the outside world."

She took a moment to catch her breath,

"You and I are no different from each other. True, we may come from different walks of life, but it is one common force that we are all here today."

Althea opened her palm, in front of everyone gracefully, demonstrating the ability she holds; she created small mirror images of the students in her hand, all lined up as they were in front of her. Althea is able to create mirror images, and even take on the form of whom she chooses. Of course, she would not so hastily reveal her powers to everyone present.

    Ending her little demonstration,

"See? We are all one and the same."

She smiled, examining the students one by one,

Her eyes first set on a pink haired girl, who stood out to her most from the rest. "My, my". Her head moved once more, next setting her vision on Remi, her eyes adjusting first to attractive and bright colors of the hair. Next came Scarlet, once again being attracted to the color of the female's hair.

She spent the last minutes of her little seminar examining the rest of her new companions.

"From this day on forth, the eleven of you are a group. You will all share the same block of dorms; block J. I have taken the liberty of putting your names on the respective room, there, you will find all the necessary information about your studies, powers, and the school. If any questions, please come see me."

In the instant her welcome speech was done, her figure de-materialized into thin air, being a clone she controlled with ease. Althea smiled from her office once more.

Raki’s phone lit up as the device vibrated in his pocket. Checking the screen with a quick, fluid motion, he sighed then grabbed his backpack. Quietly he made his way to the door, took one more look at his quiet home, and walked out the door. There were no tears, hugs, or wishes of good luck, only the quiet hum of the air conditioning unit as it pumped cool air into the two-story dwelling. In fact, Raki was the only one left in the house. He wasn’t actually due to leave for the Silvermoon for another week, but it felt easier to him to slip away while his parents were gone.

Outside was a red sedan with advertisements plastered to the sides and a small sign on top of the cabin, with the trunk open and the driver in the front seat. He carried only the backpack, for there was little reason to carry take anything else with him. He tossed the back into the trunk, closed the lid, then slid into the back seat. After feeding the driver the address, Raki pulled his headphones onto his ears, closed his eyes, and tried to sleep.

Sleep never came, however, for the entire ride was full of anxiety. Raki had no idea what he was going into or if he would ever be able to go home. Did he even want to go home? Was there a place for him among the other members of the family, being the sibling who lived? Ever since that day, he felt somehow responsible for Akane’s death, even though it made no logical or scientific sense. Still, she was gone, and with her his desire to stay at home.

After hours of such thinking, just when Raki thought his head would collapse under the weight of his own guilt, the driver tapped on the Plexiglas barrier separating them. “Sir? We’re here,” he said, his accent thick. Raki did not hear the words, but did feel the deceleration and change of direction. The cab turned ninety degrees to the left and made its way through the gate. Raki began to memorize as much as he could, in case he ever needed to leave under less than ideal circumstances.

There were trees, bushes and shrubs, and flowerbeds dotting the grounds. Assuming the large structure directly ahead was the main hall, the driver pulled up as close as possible, orbiting the fountain in a wide arc to deposit his passenger closest to the stairs. Once the vehicle came to a stop, the driver exited the car and opened the trunk, allowing Raki to collect his solitary bag. Polite nods and the exchange of cash was the only, and final, interaction between the two. Without a word, the vehicle was around the fountain and through the gates, leaving Raki to stand and stare at the enormity of his future.

Absentmindedly his hand went to his left pocket, where he touched his fingertips to the warm circular slug with the emblems of the sun and moon etched into them. Such an inconsequential trinket was going to give him access to a place of acceptance? They promised him a safe environment where he could continue to learn, as well as to learn how to control his dominion over sound to make him less of a danger to the rest of the world, and in turn, himself.

Other students were starting to file in around him, speaking to one another as friends would. Raki felt somewhat awkward among them, but there were others that looked equally as lost. Before long, the doors flung open and the headmistress stepped forward. He listened to her speech, then looked around at his new ‘group’ with some hesitation. He didn’t know any of them, and yet he was supposed to just automatically trust them? With a shrug, Raki put his hands in his pocket, then waited to see what everyone else would do.

Scarlet looked over the others surrounding her. She'd gotten to the academy just in time for the Welcome Speech made by the Academy's Headmistress. Needless to say, Scarlet was unimpressed. For being such a prestigious school, she'd expected a lot more for their welcoming. A lot more awe to be sure. In the end, it really didn't even matter because she was here at the academy and so now her parents could get off her back. The second thing that was good about being here, she'd be able to study her true passion in peace. Her parents hadn't been so fond of her deviating from the "correct" path as they put it.

"The Lancasters have always been Water Mages!" She could hear her mother screeching in her ear. "We are the strongest Water Mages. Every other Water Mage pales in comparison. For many, marrying into the family means stepping above the rest, being able to learn our great family secret. And someday soon we'll perfect our work even further so that our family will live forever."

Personally to Scarlet, everlasting life seemed like the shit end of the stcck. Not only were her family elitist when it came to their interactions with others, but they also thought they were the greatest of all mages. It was quite sickening really, but it gave her a natural armor at keeping people at arms length. At least those who already knew of her family would give her peace. Scarlet felt eyes on her and looked up to meet the headmistress's gaze with a solid one of her own until her eyes continued on.

"You will all share the same block of dorms; block J."

Ugggg. They'd all have to share the same dorm. Then the headmistress vanished. Taking that as permission to be dismissed, Scarlet began to walk toward the dorm building that they had been assigned. She'd been the the academy before as her parents insisted on her seeing the place once she'd gotten her letter. So it was easy enough to know where to go. Whether the others followed after her, she really didn't care. She really preferred that they didn't, but well it's not like she could keep them out of the dorms.

Kale arrived not long before everyone else, his grandparents were sad to see him go, because even though they didn't understand him. They did at least appreciate how much of a hard worker he was and he did feel kind of bad leaving them all by themselves. However, the one thing he couldn't resist, was seeing if there really was a place where he would fit it.

Which makes him wonder why he found the way the headmistress had said, there were all one, made him a little uncomfortable. Well, at least he had Flare, the wolf pup he was caring for. The little guy would at least help make him feel less alone, regardless of anything else that might have happened. So when the orientation ended, he took note to make sure and find dorm J later. Before going over to a nearby tree and laid under it. Letting Flare run around for a little bit.

    "...toothbrush?"

    "Yeah."

    "Dance shoes?"

    "Uh-huh."

"Emergency tampons? You never know where on campus you'll be when—"

"Mom! Aunt Sherri! Please!" The young brunette squeaked, looking around frantically to see if anyone else was listening. One or two other arriving students glanced at her with blank looks, but for the most part she seemed to remain unheard. She looked back at her family members and smiled. "I promise I'll be fine. Tell dad I'll miss him." Hugs were had all around, as well as some traditional family blessings, before both mother and aunt closed the van back up and drove off. Only Hanon was left, her multiple bags stacked next to her. She certainly hoped there would be people to help her, but she was prepared to drag all four duffel bags by herself.

"If only I knew how to create portals out of shadows already," she mumbled, trying to tug on the bottom most bag to try and bring her things closer to the group. About six feet away, the entire stack toppled and spread across the ground. Just her luck. She could see someone entering the courtyard, so she quickly did her best to group all her bags together so they weren't in the way.

The older woman, now standing before the other soon-to-be students, spoke to reign them in. Hanon couldn't help but smile when the headmistress mentioned the safety the campus would bring, a smile which turned into a big grin at her demonstration of her own powers before she disappeared before their very eyes. It wasn't a regular welcome by any means, but it left just enough want for more that the girl's eyes lingered for a moment.

A couple students, annoyed or awkward or whatever other reason, broke off from the others to do their own thing. She could understand how some of these students were feeling of course, as she was somewhat in the same boat as many of them. Brought here for the chance at some security and knowledge and out of the scrutiny and judging eye of regular people. Hanon would find time to analyze those around her and make acquaintances later she hoped; in the meantime, she geared herself up to try to drag her things again. She grabbed all the handles and dug her heels into the ground to make the heavy bags drag across the ridged stones of the courtyard. She again didn't get far before they got stuck on one of the stones, threatening to tear if she tried anymore. Heaving a heavy sigh, she stopped and plopped herself down on her things, placing her chin in her hands in frustration.

Sasha was one of the first ones there with her lovely dog Chris. She didn't think that she was early and wondered how many people were given the same invitation as her and if they were going to be just a handful. Eventually, people started arriving. They were now probably more than ten. She wasn't sure on bringing Chris along with her, but seeing someone else bring a pet of their own, her worries were put down. She was still kind of waiting to see if more will arrive until a woman appeared in front of them. She introduced herself as the headmistress and gave a brief speech to them, leading Sasha to believe that there were no other people left who hadn't arrived. Was having unique abilities that rare or something? They seem so few compared to what you would see in a normal school, even in a private one. She would have thought these kinds of abilities would be more common.

When she said that they would share the same dorm, she felt a little excited at meeting new people with abilities like her, but looking at some students, they didn't look too happy about the news. But oh well, she was sure they'd loosen up sooner or later.

Looking at the front of the school, she could only imagine how big this place actually is. And also inside the school. Would it be like a mansion? She had wondered on what kind of lessons they would even have, but she'd soon find out once she went to her dorm room. Though she didn't know where the dorms actually are, she figured she'd just follow the girl who went ahead inside already. She seemed to know where she was going, so Sasha picked up all her bags, her body feeling a little unstable from the weight of all her bags and trailed behind her, with her dog walking beside her.

Jasper stood, waiting to be the last one from the small gathering to move, so as to avoid bumping into anyone, or anything. Like most of the other kids, he was a bit apprehensive to be couped with unfamiliar faces he did not know.

Although, he understood why the headmistress would do such a thing.

Anyone that travels in a group, would soon realize that they can trust each other more than going out of their way to befriend anyone else that was not in their group. For generations, Althea has done same with every student, no one is truly ever alone by themselves in the academy. This was the first step in providing safety for everyone. By doing this, the headmisstress essentially formed a pact upon the students, and left it to them to build up the kindling fire.

Eyes gazed to and from every student, for at least one second. Also gauging his surrounding, there wasn't much to it. Not yet anyway. Hands in pocket, unphased by it all, he was not impressed by the Althea's little demonstration, but he knew there was more to her. The fact that her clone could also perform magic on its own was a little strange to him.

Light strides made, Jasper walked around the edges of the courtyard, trying to break away from the crowd. Remnants of electricity crackled at his feet little by little, as he walked, soon leaving a charge on the ground, that would cling to any nearby metal, or any item with metallic properties.

The pout was a childish look on himself, he knew, but couldn't help it. The entire family slept inside the twins's room last night, all huddled together because it was some sort of tradition. And Wynter almost wished his Dad didn't wake him up. The older man rolled his eyes.

"Oh come on, it's not like you're not allowed to see us." He told his son with a chuckle, Wynter only pouring even more.

"But I'll miss you guys." He complained before his sister got tired of his theatrics and decided to kick him, quite literally and painfully, into action. Deciding that he couldn't really complain now, he just shot them a wide smile and waved, making his way closer to school. Thankfully, he arrived just in time, a nervous smile on his face. The headmistress was quite... intimidating, but nevertheless, he appreciated her welcome.

Hefting his bag higher and pulling his other bags behind him, he paused when he noticed a girl who seemed to be struggling with her things. Before one of the bags toppled over, Wynter was already steadying it, carrying it in his arms with a friendly smile. "Looks like a struggle." He greeted, managing to carry the bag in one arm while his other supported his own sheer number of belongings. At least his were not on the verge of toppling over. "Mind if I help?" His eyes held a friendly mirth to them as he waited for an answer.

The drive to Silvermoon had been lengthy and overall tiring. Flynn's mom tried--and succeed--at talking the entire time while the red head tried his damn best to get some shut eye. Unfortunately, his mother's voice was more distracting than his ever growing heavier eyelids. By the time she dropped him off he could barely stay awake. Hopping out of the car and yawning his mom came around the car with his belongings. Her deep blue orbs started to reflect with unshed tears.

"You know," She stated quietly, "I promised your father I wouldn't cry. So I'm not going to." There was a moment where she took a breath to gather herself. "I love you. Don't forget to call us everyone once in a while. And for the love of god try and stay awake in your classes."

Flynn flashed his mother one of his charming smiles, "I make no promises. Love you too mom." He wandered over and threw his arms around the women. By now he had far surpassed her in the height department. After a moment passed the redhead backed away. His mom got in the car and with a final wave, she drove off. Flynn grabbed the back and tossed it carelessly over his shoulder. At this point, there had been information about rooming or roommates. Or if there even was one. Shrugging, he decided to find a place to rest while he waited for the tour to start.

Settling in a shady patch in the courtyard he leaned his head back on his belongings and proceeded to doze off. About an hour or two late he woke to the sound of a group of people entering the courtyard. Glancing at the watch on his wrist it dawned on him that he was late to his own orientation. Grabbing his bag Flynn proceeded to haphazardly stroll up to the back of the group; taking his dear sweet time. By the time he made it to the back the group had started to move. Exhaling once more he started moving with the group. It was long before he ended up falling slightly behind. It didn't really bother him to be behind. In fact, it gave him a chance to observe everyone present.

The Bedford family stood on their drive way, Missy’s mom with tears in her eyes.

“Oh, honey,” she said between sniffles, “I’m so proud of you! To be invited to attend a prep school!” She’d been like this for the last couple of weeks. “Are you sure they’ll still accept you when they see you?” The woman reached out to touch Missy’s brightly colored hair and instead got her daughter hugging her.

“Yes, mom, I’m sure, okay? Pink hair isn’t that big of a deal,” Missy laughed and freed her mother from her embrace. Her twin brothers swooped in, embracing their sister from either side, making her grunt and try to save the small backpack-purse she was wearing from being squished. “Oi, what do you two want?”

“To thank you for giving me your room!” They said in union and then glared at each other over their sister’s head. “Hey! I’m getting that room!” Bickering ensued and she skirted it by ducking over to her dad to watch the boys go at it.

“Are you sure I’m related to them?” Missy tugged on her dad’s sleeve lightly.

“Yea, I watched all three of you come into this world that day,” he told her and then looked down at her with a grin. “We’re very proud of you.”

Missy rolled her eyes and gave her dad a tight hug before he picked up her backpack in one hand, rolling suitcase in the other, and put them in the taxi’s trunk. He kissed the top of her head and she gave her mother another hug before sliding into the back seat of the car. Her dad picked up and placed a moving box on the seat beside her. They were tears and smiles, waving and yelling as she left – her brothers even sprinted alongside the taxi for a minute, banging on the windows. She laughed through the tears, clutching her trembling hands tighter in her lap.

    \ \ \✨ ✨///

“Lost?!” She gasped and gaped at the man before her.

“Yes, we’re very sorry – we’ll pay for anything damaged in the two bags and if we can’t find them, we’ll pay for everything that was in them,” he said, passing her some papers to sign.

Missy gaped incredulously a moment and then signed, biting back tears. This was supposed to go perfectly, everything was supposed to go perfectly. He handed her a copy of the papers and she shoved them into a pocket of her small [url=https://d1nr5wevwcuzuv.cloudfront.net/product_photos/23510781/38064879673-9_original_original.jpg]backpack[url]. With her large backpack and suitcase both lost, she’d have nothing to wear except the clothes she was wearing until they were found or replaced, or if the Silvermoon Academy had uniforms. She groaned inwardly and went to find a cab, her cardboard moving box in her arms.

    \ \ \✨ ✨///

Arrival at the school was uneventful, thankfully – there were no “welcome” banners or any sign around the campus that new students would be arriving. Missy carefully pulled her cardboard box out of the back seat of the taxi and peered over it as someone, an older student, she assumed, came to guide her to where they would meet the headmistress and be greeting.

“Oh,” she blinked, rather dazzled by the older boy and the way he walked with such confidence. When all the students had gathered, she felt a little silly and knelt to put her box down on the ground beside her.

Listening intently as the headmistress spoke, Missy was surprised to find the woman looking at her, and then followed her gaze to the other students as she announced that they all would be one group and share the dorm block. Co-ed dorms? She was so distracted by that idea that it took her a moment to realize the woman had disappeared.

Missy stared a moment at the space the self-introduced headmistress had been standing just a breath before. She blinked, once, then twice in rapid succession and stared a heartbeat longer; a stifled squeak left her throat and then she bowed to pick up the box of her possessions, balancing it in her arms as she struggled to peer around it. Missy had no idea where dorm J was, but the group was dispersing already and was left with few people to ask.

"Do you know where dorm J is?" She mumbled to someone standing close by, and then they walked away and she stood there, stilted. So much for being one group. "All right then."

Her green-blue eyes scanned the courtyard, taking in the really rather beautiful grounds, and then turned on the building up ahead; Dorm J had to be in there somewhere, right? Missy moved across the courtyard toward the buildings, moving over Jasper's electrically charged path as she did. She didn't notice anything as her shoes scuffed the floor but a light tingle moving through her body, in her toes, then up her thighs and tummy, in her fingertips and then cheeks, which she disregarded as nerves. Missy gasped softly as she felt the contents of her box shifting, probably from all the jostling it'd been through on the trip; and the bottom of the box fell out, a rectangle box made of metal hitting first with a clang, then followed by the sound of everything else in the box falling down around and on top of it.

"Oh, no!" She cried, fumbling with the cardboard and kneeling in the heap of what had once been a very carefully arranged box. Breakables had been wrapped in bubble-wrap and tissue but at least two perfume bottles appeared to be casualties. She hissed as she was zapped with electricity when reaching for the metal box, clutching her hand to her chest.
