That's the whole point! The goal is to allow people to RP their favorite race... though not necessarily at full power level, depending where we decide the initial starting level is.

Do you have any feedback on the character apps so far? Feel free to PM me any ideas you have as a potential co-GM.

Stormy: As far as dragon cross-breeds... I'm thinking most of the time, chromatic dragon crossbreeds will take on the color of their father, while metallic will take on the color of their mother. But every so often, and only with specific color pairings, you might get a mix... but the characteristics of the mix might not be entirely what you would expect.

Regardless, the offspring of a red and a blue would typically be evil. If you want to go into specific ideas, we can discuss possibilities. Dragon characters are fine, but we may need to "plot nerf" them to prevent them from being overpowered.... or have them start at a very young age (for a dragon at least). A wyrmling silver dragon is smarter and wiser than most human adults, after all...

deamon: I'm still mulling over exactly how advanced we want engineering to be... so I'm not sure if the gnome's engineering expertise is over the top or just right for the setting. I'd like to hear feedback from everyone regarding this topic... so please discuss!

I understand the concern, You said pirate. I figured pirate tech... with a gnomish twist. and from a crazy gnome... (where his gear actually works without breaking or exploding... too often.) to boot.

@Honey :: I may have an idea for a "neutral" Fae race that wouldn't quite fit in with either the Seelie or the Unseelie. I'll send you the details as soon as I can get them written down.
    Thanks for the set, Kicks!

Looking forward to hearing about it!

I'm tending to allow the Gnomish pirate tech so long as it's not overpowered.... unless someone objects? It could be fun, if it's suitably ridiculous.

What do the airships actually look like, if I may ask?

I can think of three ways they are set up:

The first being very much like any steampunk theme, with giant balloons on the top of the actual boat...

Second being ships that look like ships, but can fly. (I.E. the pirate ships from the Peter Pan movie, PAN)

And the final being completely strange constructs that slightly resemble boats, if seen from very large distances away. (This one would help with Betsy, the Gnomish cannon... though I could work with the second just as well.)

Most airships are really just converted boats, given a levistone that lets them fly but also fully capable of landing in the ocean and docking with a port city since most of the world lacks airship docks still. Considering that levistones are known to fail, malfunction, or suffer from sabotage, having an option to land in the water is helpful.

Caligula "Cal", Captain of the Jackdaw

    Age: 29
    Gender: Male
Race: Demigod, assumed to be the son of some unknown god of madness or chaos
Appearance: Tall and somewhat lanky which wild short brown hair and manic grey (almost silver) eyes. He usually wears his captain's tri-corn hat and a leather doublet which have the colors of dark brown, and grey. He has been described as somewhat attractive, but most can't see past the obvious madness present in his eyes. Though he can hide his insanity surprisingly well when it becomes suitable to do so.
    Skills:
Insanity: Due to the fact that Cal is certifiably insane, it gives him a distinct advantage in combat, as his movement and fighting style is erratic and unpredictable. He has beaten people with the ability of Clairvoyance due to the sheer amount of information that must be processed to predict his movements, and Telepaths, due to them immediately exiting his mind after witnessing the chaos inside of it.

Blade skill: Because his mother was raised among Valkyrie's, he was trained from a young age by her to use practically any bladed weapon, but he prefers to use two custom made knives in combat. With these to tailored blades, he is an extremely difficult enemy to beat, and he is so far undefeated

    Spell List:
Bag of Tricks: Able to pull a potentially (though rarely) useful object from his satchel. This object will usually be an object that has no real use in the current situation, but it will rarely dispense an item that is useful in that specific situation, though that is not a common occurrence. While only he can use it to its fullest potential (I.E. anyone can use it, but it will almost never yield a significant result.), he does not require any magic to use it, he does need to have the satchel on hand. Meaning if it is stolen from him, or he simply doesn't have it with him, he cannot use the satchel.

    Weapons:
Two (2) rather large custom made blades (knives) that seem to be extremely versatile.

    Equipment:
One (1) his Satchel, which is required to use his bag of tricks
One (1) airship dubbed, The Jackdaw

    Gold: 50gp
    Personality:
Unpredictable. He tends to usually be childish and benevolent, but occasionally he will act with extreme malice without any clear reason, as such, he is widely feared as one of the most unpredictable Sky Pirates around. He may help escort a cargo ship to a dock, or he may destroy the ship and hold the crew ransom. He rarely kills unarmed enemies, and when he does fight, he almost always makes sure they fight on even terms. The main victims of his attacks are members of the Tiamat aligned pirates. He does detest the Empire, but he usually avoids them. When asked to describe his alignment by the captain of a Tiamat ship, he answered "Well it depends on my mood, but I'm either Chaotic Neutral or Chaotic Good. But hey, who knows, I'm really on my own side."

History: Cal's history is widely unknown, he was raised by his Valkyrie trained human mother. His father was a God of Chaos and Madness, and he was born perfectly normal. Then, he disappeared for the next fourteen (14) years of his life, and reemerged as a insane pirate captain. Now, Cal's father has stripped Cal of his powers. Leaving him as little more than a mortal who is skilled in fighting. So, Cal is on a quest, to regain his powers, by any means necessary.

Other: "Madness? Who said I'm mad? I'm not mad! I'm actually quite happy. What I am, is insane."

    Sample:

Captain Tourn was extremely wealthy after ages of attacking and looting every ship that he came across. Whether they were Tiamat, Empire, or Neutrally aligned, he attacked them all, and took everything they had. He was respected, hated, and above all, feared. Now, he was a penniless bum, who would beg for coin outside any bar he could find. He was once a revered swordsman, now he was one-handed, and had one leg made of wood. One day, a particular patron of said bar took pity on him and dropped five coins into the tattered hat he used to collect money.
“Is it true?” the patron asked “Were you really once a Sky Pirate captain?”
“Aye’.” Tourn responded, barely even looking up at him
    “What happened?” the man asked
“He happened…….” Tourn said, before delving into his tale.

Tourn was sailing his beloved ship after having captured and pillaged a rather full cargo vessel, and his crew was ecstatic. This had been the most profit they had made from any single attack and they were celebrating accordingly. Tourn’s first-mate had opened the cargo hold and brought out a wide selection of alcohol, and the entire crew was excited to get drunk off of their minds when there was a sickening crack and the whole ship bucked. When Tourn looked in the direction of the noise, he saw that the bow of a ship which seemed to be coated in solid metal had rammed his ship, splintering the starboard side and causing Tourn’s ship, the Blue Devil, to list dangerously to the side. Tourn threw himself against the wheel and righted the ship as his crew scrambled about for weapons. Then, a single figure leapt from the ship that had rammed the Blue Devil and landed on his feet in the middle of the crowd. All activity stopped and the Tourn’s crew turned and stared at the figure, who slowly rose from a crouch to their full height. From the apparel of the man, it see,Ed like he was more than likely the captain of the attacking ship, so one of the crew picked up a bucket and raised it over his head, prepared to bring it down on the head of the invader. But before he could even bring the bucket to the top of its arc, the figure moved, a large blade appearing from his sleeve as he lashed out, and decapitated the bucket-wielding man in one movement.

The rest of the crew erupted into movement, some, more brave or confident charged the man, only to be cut down in by the man, who had produced a second knife from his other sleeve. The man started to move forward, cutting down everyone in his path. Then, more figures lept from the other ship and onto the deck of the Blue Devil. A Lamia wielding two cutlasses joined the first man and assisted him in his assualt. A homonculi clambered down from the other ship and started to smash into vital parts of the Blue Devil, cracking the mast and causing to the fall and crack, the rope still holding it to the ship, threatening to capsize the entire vessel. The ship and everyone on its deck would most likely has plunged to their demise if a Harpy, whose claws were covered in metallic armor, cut through the ropes, saving the ship and plunging the mast into the clouds below.

Then, the battle was over. The crew of the Blue Devil was either dead, or had been tied together by the Lamia. The first attacker, the only one who seemed to be human, walked over to Tourn, and cut his bindings.
“Stand.” the man said “I wish for you to be on your feet before I cut you down.”
“I do not have a weapon.” Tourn said, rubbing his wrists.
“Very well.” the man said, walking over to the pile of assorted weapons that had been tossed into the middle of the wrecked Blue Devil. He withdrew a cutlass, and tossed it to the feet of Tourn.
“Now, pick up your weapon and fight like a man.” the attacker said.
Tourn rushed the man, confident that he would win. While the rest of Tourn’s crew had been adequate fighters, Tourn was an expert. He immediately moved forward, his blade extended and aimed for the heart of the attacker. Then, his blade hit the ground, which caused Tourn confusion for a moment, before he realized in horror that his hand was still holding the fallen blade. Tourn backpedaled, he had not even seen the man move, but here he was, now one-handed. The man moved forward again, and with another movement, severed Tourn’s leg at the thigh. Tourn howled in agony and looked up at the man.
“Who and what are you?” Tourn asked, his voice merely a harsh whisper
The man stood to his full height again and looked down at Tourn
“I am Caligula. Son of the Lord of Chaos and of a Valkyrie-kin. Captain of the Jackdaw.” The man said

Well thank god there is not only a fellow video game nerd here (Splat, who picked up that I named the ship after a ship in AC4) but also another history buff here who picked up that I named my character Caligula after the Roman Emperor who tried to appoint a horse as his successor. I feel like I am really going to like you all.

He also declared war on the sea (or more specifically Neptune, god of the sea). He was great.
