Fiore has changed in the last few hundred years. The realm that once had wagons and locomotive trains, is now inhabited by cars, factories, and bullet trains. Most of the world has turned to modern science and turned it back on the old ways of magic. But there are still a few places that support the old world. One of these towns, is where our story begins.
The Town of Magnolia. A patch of rural utopia that the boom of urban living hadn’t seemed to catch yet. In the hundreds of years that the town has existed, it has rarely changed. It is a merchant city that has been dealing in Magic since ancient times. The town has many famous landmarks, including the Kardia Cathedral in the center of town. The people that live there have a rich understanding of Magic and welcome all types of Wizards. This is because they have been exposed to Magic for centuries, and because Magnolia is the home of one of the most famous Wizard guilds in Fiore; Fairy Tail.
The Fairy Tail guild is one of the strongest wizard guilds in Fiore. Many consider it to be the strongest of them all. This claim does not go without good reason however. Many strong wizards with rare and powerful magic are members and they frequently show off their skills in various scenarios, whether it’s on a job or simply out in the world. The World News continuously brings up their name, sometimes for good reasons and other times, not so much. But no matter what the world thinks, the wizards at Fairy Tail carry on with their lives without much of a care in the world. But today was one of those special days that made the townspeople close their windows and stay off the streets.
Lightning crackled in the sky as a storm began to brew over the city. The members of Fairy Tail have gathered around the field near the Guild Hall to watch the coming duel. Today’s matchup? Blake Ezell, known as The Thunder King and one of Fairy Tail’s S-Class Wizards, had been challenged to a fight by one of Fairy Tail’s other members; a relatively new wizard named Sarah Arconius. She was different than the other members, but at Fairy Tail everyone was special and unique in their own way. Now Sarah had challenged Blake to a duel. Her reasons were her own and Blake wasn’t going to turn down a challenge. Especially given the things he had heard about Sarah’s power. He was curious to see how she’d do against his Lightning Magic.
Blake was dressed in his black slacks and white button-up shirt. He was barefoot, which was a common sight for him. He felt that shoes interfered with his magic. A couple bandages were visible on his hands, feet, and neck, but the rest was covered by his clothes. He stood with a laidback expression as he starred across the field at Sarah. Forming a circle around them was the rest of the guild. They were watching, laughing, drinking, and placing their bets. Most of them were betting on Blake, given his history and legendary skill. He smiled and stretched his arms as he turned his gaze to the sky. The clouds were beginning to circle as bolts of lightning jumped from cloud to cloud.
“Alright,” Blake’s voice carried over the field like a megaphone. “Let’s get this show on the road.” He opened his right hand and let a few streaks of electricity jump from finger to finger. He hadn’t had a good challenge in a while.
