’Shit!' The ground seemed to moan beneath Cain’s feet as if an earthquake had spawned out of nowhere. The super soldier looked up to find two heroes hovering in the air high above the city raining devastation down below. That was the problem with the ‘heroes’ in this country. They were just as destructive as the criminals that they ‘protected’ the city from, if not worse. They’d level a city block just to take down a single drug dealer, all while having the nerve to take praise from the citizens whose lives they nearly ended. They weren’t heroes at all, just psychopathic narcissists. They made Cain sick. Even now, a building toppled over from the blast of Pandemonium’s sonic cannon. Did she care that there might have been people inside? Hell no. Well, at least she and Aeronaut had been stupid enough to leave themselves exposed.
Cain sprinted away from Ironclad. At first it seemed as if he was fleeing the battle scene entirely, but no. He had something else in mind. He stuck to the backstreets, careful to use the alleyways for cover to avoid being spotted by the superheroes above. He began climbing a fire escape of a five story tenement complex until he reached the roof deck. He took up position behind the roof access doorway. Once there, he crouched down and pulled out his assault rifle and attached his scope. The heroes were so out in the open that putting holes in them would be a breeze. He took a moment to account for the wind and fired away. His shots came in short bursts in order to maximize his precision. The silencer on the rifle would decrease accuracy slightly but hopefully would make it harder for the heroes to detect his location. Cain figured that the heroes would be wearing some sort of kevlar material, so he focused on shots at their chest, head, and at the jetpack device they were using.
