Default The Dying of a World - OOC

This is a mature role play for torture, gore, violence, and language.

Hive City Farok, Lower Hive Hab Block 135, Room 38

    Occupants: N. Malium, P. Langer, B. Opold, C. Tial

    Occupation: Factory 23 Workers

    SECURITY FOOTAGE

“It’s been days since I’ve been able to sleep…the…the voices won’t stop! They scratch at my mind and fill my eyes with nightmares every night…I can’t sleep…can never sleep…have to stay awake…”

The worker rocks back and forth with his knees pulled to his chest, mumbling incoherently. His body is bony with signs of malnutrition along with patches of oil, dirt, and grime littering his clothes and skin. Several clumps of his black, matted and brittle hair lay in one of his quivering hands while other clumps are on his bed. His head has numerous scabs from cuts where he pulled his hair out. His eyes, which are sunken in and have dark circles under them, scan the other workers in their beds in room. His teeth clatter together as he rubs his free hand against his torn clothes.

“They…they can’t hear the voices…they taunt me with their peaceful slumber! They sleep soundly while…while…I…writhe in pain…I…”

The hand with the clumps of hair drops the hair on his bed as he grips his head again, crying out in anguish. He looks over to the workers, they do not stir from their slumber. He rocks back and forth faster, scratching and shaking his head – in a futile effort to clear his mind of the whispers that taunt him.

Despite his efforts, there is no release and the torture continues. The voices whisper horrific things into his mind and as the night grows so do the whispers.

“Kill the workers…gather our artifacts…and the sweet release of peace shall be yours…Malium…your peace will be…eternal…”

After hearing this, Malium glances over to the closest worker in his bed. His eyes are full of pain and anger. Why should that worker have the peace of sleep when that peace eludes him at every turn. His thin, shriveled lips turn into a sickening grin of insanity and glee as he retrieves a melted piece of metal from one of the factories. Grasping the metal in his bony hand he slowly makes his way to the bed before with a terrifying swipe sends the shard into the man’s eye and does so again and again until his face is an unrecognizable pile of flesh and bone.

Malium, looks at the face and grins maliciously as if he had just performed a wondrous work of art. Soon his eyes turned to find his other two roommates still sleeping. Leaving the metal shard in Langer’s face he goes back to his bed and takes out the skin bound book he had found during one of the clean-ups in the factory.

The book emanated with the grotesque aura of Nurgle, the plague god. Malium was laughing hysterically as he opened the book and turned to the page he saw so many times in his sleep as the words began to come out of his mouth…

“Most unholy of all…let the rot of chaos burst into this world…may the garden of Nurgle spread forth and produce vile wonders for the unholy grandfather of decay…let the gift and praise of Nurgle be felt in every world…on every being…”

After reading the flesh-laden pages, the book shook and glowed a sickly green as a putrid mist along with black flies began to pour out of the book. The mist soon overcome Malium and the two other workers, causing them to cough up bile and blood as their bodies succumbed to the great plague lord.

Malium was reborn as a cultist for Nurgle…his once puny form becoming large and bulging with sores and blisters that oozed pus and bile. Instead of his eyes holding terror and sorrow – they were filled with demonic glee at the coming plague which was only the start of the gifts that Nurgle had to give to this world.

    END SECURITY FOOTAGE

    RP Description:

On Tralfon IV, which is a forge/hive world, the plague of Nurgle’s Rot has sprung to life through the weakness of one of the many workers in the factories. The incursion of chaos cannot – will not be allowed to stain a holy forge world of the Imperium.

The stationed Imperial Guard forces have been fighting the heretics and cultists but to secure the forge world’s safety – a call for help to the space marine chapters and the Inquisitional branch of the Ordo Malleus has been sanctioned.

However, more than one threat looms in the shadows of this planet. A chaos lord eager to prove himself to the dark gods has seen this occurrence as a chance to gain the favor he needs. His presence along with the heretics and the disease has lowered the morale of the remaining loyal workers on the planet.

The Imperium’s finest must work to maintain order but their enemies hide in the shadows and use every tactic to topple the Imperium’s control of the world. Only by stomping out every last bit of chaos will save this world.

    Name: Thaddeus Beringar

    Age: 58

    Race/Species: Mordian Human

    Gender: Male

Physical Appearance: A weathered, pale man, Thaddeus stands at just over six feet, an imposing figure even in the drab Cadian fatigues he now wears. Dour brown eyes dominate a face otherwise ruled by an aquiline nose, almost out of place underneath the beige field-cap he’s taken a liking to. Outwardly he’s without replacement or augmentation from his service across the Imperium, his wounds only apparent on the rare occasions that he smiles - half of his teeth, lost on one battlefield or another, shine with a silvery sheen in the light.

    Voice: Bass

Personality: Thaddeus is not simply a hallmark Imperial officer, he is a hallmark Mordian officer, and it shows in his bearing. Even now, long after his tattered and soiled Mordian dress-blues were long abandoned, he still carries himself as if he were clad in their proud colors - a ram-rod straight back, decisive footfalls and a swift, mechanical precision with his weapons, all of it proof enough should one know what to look for. While it would be unfair to call the man cold, he certainly isn’t very amiable - more often than not proving as offensive as he is dour, given someone earns his ire - but even with this stern demeanour he can lift the spirits of those alongside him, spur them onwards to greatness and glory as only a son of Mordian can.

Dominant Personality Traits: Professional, dependable, conservative, coarse, fearless.

Attire/Uniform: Cadian pattern battle dress uniform

Affiliation/Organization: The Imperium of Man, Imperial Guard, Mordian Iron Guard, 7th Mordian Rifles

    Occupation:
Formerly commanding officer of the 7th Mordian Infantry Regiment
Currently posing as a captain of the Tralfonic 82nd Infantry

Weapon(s): M35 Galaxy-M Short pattern lasgun and bayonet, Kantrael MG 'Defender' pattern laspistol.

    Armor/Defenses: Cadian pattern body armor

    Strengths/Skills:
    • Mordian Discipline - Renowned across the Imperium as some of the finest troops of the Imperial Guard, Mordian’s Iron Guard are famous for their precision in the heat of combat and their steely discipline. Thaddeus, like many Mordians, is unphased by the sight of imperial authority, as the old joke in the Officio Prefectus goes “On Mordian, the guardsmen execute you.
    • Aura of Authority - While Beringar displays a remarkable ability for discretion, having long been familiar with when and when not to speak, he is not a particularly charismatic individual, at least as far as eloquence is concerned. What he does possess is best put as a presence of being, an aura of authority, from the way he stands and moves to the manner in which he looks and speaks to other guardsmen, it is evident that he is a man who is used to leading others.
    • Combat Veteran - Shaped both by his training on Mordian and dozens of campaigns across the Imperium, Thaddeus is a dangerous opponent even if he only has a lasgun’s bayonet at his disposal, the elder guardsman relying a great deal on his wiles and his tricks learned in his many years of combat rather than brute strength or raw endurance.

    Weaknesses/Flaws:
    • Mordian Rigidity - Disciplined as the Mordians might be, they’re also stubborn to a fault, doing things their way, even if it ends in utter defeat. Indeed, this very rigidity got most of Thaddeus’ regiment slaughtered at the hands of the enemy in the depths of Farok. It is a mistake that Beringar is not eager to repeat, but might not be able to help.
    • Age - Simply put, Thaddeus is not a young man, and while PT and drill have kept him in good enough shape, he isn’t getting any younger.
    • Callous - Even with his professional air and precise bearing, Thaddeus started as an enlisted man, and that can show itself all too painfully at times. Though he has largely curtailed the vulgarity that dominated his career as an NCO, he can still prove to be a rather blunt and callous individual.

Brief Background: Colonel Thaddeus Beringar was born in the hives of the Mordian Tetrarchy, and like many of the sons and daughters of that harsh, inhospitable world, he found his way into the ranks of the venerated Iron Guard, serving with distinction for decades across dozens of campaigns and several worlds first as an infantryman, then an NCO, and finally an officer. He had only recently been assigned command of the 7th Rifles, just but four years ago, before he and his regiment were redeployed in reaction to the disaster that had befallen Forge World Tralfon. Though he is not pleased to admit it, it was largely his own fault that the 7th Regiment was eradicated in the depths of the Hive City Farok, escaping the fate of his comrades with but a handful of his men, whose number has slowly dwindled as the campaign grinds on.

Now Thaddeus fights alongside native Tralfon regiments, he and the other Mordians having embedded themselves amongst their number. With the 7th Rifles’ colors tucked safely away in his rucksack, he waits to return to Mordian should he or any of the other survivors of the 7th live through the nightmare that Tralfon has become.

Current Position/Job/Mission/Location: Currently stationed with the few survivors of the 7th Mordian Rifles alongside the remnants of the Tralfonic 82nd and 16th Infantry Regiments.

Sorry for the delay in getting him together. Let me know if there's anything I need to amend or alter. Looking forward to getting started!

    Default

    Name: Valora Delanor

    Age: 32

Race/Species: Human from Ophelia IV, Segmentum Tempestus

    Gender: Female

Physical Appearance: Having a toned but not overly muscular body along with fair skin that has minor scars on her arms and fingers from numerous incidences in the medical field. Her most notable features include her shining reddish-blonde hair and green eyes that usually distract from her slanted nose. She tries to wear a smile, even in the direst of situations. This attribute about her has made her appearance resemble someone in their late teens or early twenties rather than someone who in their thirties, a trait she uses to her advantage in the field

Voice: She has a soft and assuming voice that compels those she treats to feel compassion and comfort in their time of need. However, when dealing with her enemies her voice is cold, distant, and calculating – showing her years of training as an acolyte under Lord Varnek

Personality/Dominant Personality Traits: As a sister hospitaller, she exudes an air of compassion to the wounded soldiers of the Imperium when she treats their wounds. She is a woman of few words who prefers to let her actions do the talking for her and believes silence is the best policy unless someone asks her question. She is extremely dutiful in her loyalty to the Imperium – often putting aside her own feelings on inflicting pain on others when she is tasked to carry out interrogations with her father. Moreover, she feels that determination, work ethic, and discipline are critical to doing the best job and frowns on loafing or sub-par work of any type.

Behaviors/Quirks: One of Valora's behaviors use body language instead of speech when using her talents to tend to the wounds of her retinue or Imperials. Often, she will hold their hands and/or stroke their hand with her thumb. Other times she may just lay a reassuring hand on their shoulder or arm and offer a warm smile.

When she is working by herself she has developed a habit of placing her fingers against her lips and having a 'thinking' gaze to her eyes as she works. She does this automatically and often times is not even aware she is doing it.

Attire/Uniform: When not in her hospitaller carapace, she often wears a simple white robe that has her Chaplet-Ecclesiasticus with the Inquisitional marker of the Ordo Malleus around her waist. She also wears a hood that has been coated in incenses such as lavender, oregano, tea-tree, peppermint, and patchouli to ward off diseases. On her finger is a ring of suffrage which reminds her of her burden to the Imperium and to her retinue under her Lord Inquisitor.

Affiliation/Organization: Non-Militant Faction of the Adepta Sororitas, Orders Hospitaller, Order of Serenity

Occupation: Sister Hospitaller, Lord Renaud's Acolyte in his Inquisitional Retinue

Relationships/Family/Co-Workers: Even though she left the Order of Serenity to be an acolyte in Lord Renaud's retinue, she carries with her the beliefs and traditions of her order on Ophelia IV.

She views Inquisitor Renaud as a father figure and thus takes his advice and criticism very seriously. So great is her respect for Lord Renaud that a single nod of approval means more to her than getting great honors from others and on the flip side of that, a single look of disappointment is more shattering to her than receiving blunt criticism from other members of the retinue or other Imperials

Weapon(s): Her standard weapon includes a stub revolver that can be loaded for two rounds per clip. She carries a small satchel of rounds to use in case of a combat situation. She also has her chaplet-Ecclesiasticus which can be used as a ranged weapon if needed.

When dealing in interrogation situations, especially under the supervision of Lord Inquisitor VRenaud, she will use her medical equipment to inflict pain to the detainee. Under the careful tutelage of Renaud, she has become proficient at inflicting the most pain to an enemy of the Imperium without killing them unintentionally or intentionally.

Armor/Defenses: When she is in the field or in an interrogation situation she wears her standard sister hospitaller carapace that is sealed against most toxins. Her hood which she wears with her normal attire also will be worn with her armor. Her armor is silver with golden trims and her tabard which she wears bears the insignia of her order along with the insignia of the Adepta Sororitas.

    Strengths/Skills
•Knowledge of Medical Procedures/Anatomy: Having been trained in the Order of Serenity for most of her life and her training as an acolyte under Lord Renaud – she has an expansive knowledge of most medical practices and anatomy

•Interrogation Resistance: She has undergone basic interrogation procedures to train her in the event she was taken captive by the enemy. While not trained in interrogation resistance as much as others – she has more resistance than most of her order

•Aura of Compassion: Being a sister hospitaller, she exudes gentleness and warmness to the wounded soldiers of the Imperium. Her techniques for healing have been honed for many years and she carries the best equipment possible to combat infection of wounds and to promote healing of wounds. Also, her aura can help boost morale among the injured

•Interrogation Procedures: Under her tutelage from Lord Renaud, she has learned how to use her knowledge of anatomy to inflict pain on enemies of the Imperium without killing them or seriously injuring them. Her use of medical procedures can help her patch up enemies before another interrogation session begins

    Weaknesses/Flaws
•Non-combatant: Despite her knowledge, she is mostly untrained in weapon types and carries a simple stub revolver that must be reloaded every two shots. While she has delved into combat scenarios to heal the wounded, she does not have formal weapon training

•Lack of Speech: Valora prefers silence when doing her duties and sometimes she may appear aloof or distant because she does not engage in much small talk. However, despite her silence – her actions show a caring and warm person who wants to make sure all loyal subjects of the Imperium are well cared for

•Reserved: Valora does not open up to many people and it takes a while for someone to earn her trust. However, once a person has proven themselves to her – she will consider them a comrade and will speak freely to them

Brief Background: She was born and raised on Ophelia IV and inducted into the Sister Hospitaller at a young age due to her caring for others. At her time in the Order of Serenity she studied on every type of medical procedure and anatomy. She also learned how to use her fervent belief in the Emperor and Imperium to inspire the wounded and soldiers of the Imperium to fight on.

When she was 22 years old, she was drafted into Lord Renaud's retinue to be an acolyte. There, the Lord Inquisitor took her under his wing and began to teach her how to resist interrogation and use her knowledge of medicine and anatomy to inflict pain on the enemies of the Imperium. She learned these skills quickly and soon became an excellent field medic for his retinue and was an ideal hospitaller when his retinue dealt with chaos incursions.

Current Position/Job/Mission/Location: After the security footage was viewed by the factory foremen, a distress call to the Imperial Guard, Space Marines, and Ordo Malleus was sent to help quell the chaos incursion.

Arriving onboard Black Ship “Eternal Judgment,” she has been tasked with a primary and several secondary objectives by her Lord Inquisitor.

Primary Objective: Provide medical aid and encouragement to the wounded members of the Imperial Guard and to her Inquisitor’s retinue

    Secondary Objectives
    1) Find out any information regarding how the plague of Nurgle’s Rot was unleashed by the factory worker

    2) If there are any traitors imprisoned – her expertise in torture might be called into practice

    3) Provide information regarding the population to her Inquisitor so an exact judgment can be rendered

    Name: Martellus Phyrexius

Age: 154 (has received juvenat treatments)

    Race/Species: Human

    Gender: Male

    Physical Appearance:

    Voice: Gruff, masculine, and deep

Personality/Dominant Personality Traits: Martellus is driven mostly by duty, loyalty, and honor. He is incredibly Puritan, much like his mentor, Coteas Toquemada, and is certain and true in his duty to wipe out the Enemy from Beyond. He is not cruel, but he has a singular force of will that pushes him to do his duty regardless of what gets in his way.

Attire/Uniform: Underneath his power armor, he wears a simple grey tunic, and keeps his rosetted in a small silk bag.

    Affiliation/Organization: Ordo Malleus

Occupation: Lord Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus

Weapon(s): He has a Nemesis Force sword named 'Lightbringer' as well as a Wrist-mounted Bolter, psyk-out grenades, as well as a Grimoire of true names. He is a Psyker (Delta-level) and is trained in Pyromancy and Daemonology Sanctic.

Armor/Defenses: He has a suit of thrice-blessed power armor, anointed with holy oil and inscribed with hexagrammic wards, as well as an iron halo.

Strengths/Skills: An incredibly skilled fighter, Martellus has bested many Daemons and Daemonhosts in single combat. This is backed up with his encyclopaedic knowledge of the daemonic, which allows him to be able to find even the barest hint of evidence and clues.

Weaknesses/Flaws: He can be quite stubborn at times, and it is very difficult to change his mind. He looks at the big picture so much that sometimes, he cannot see the small details, and he can be a bit...obsessive in his duty, to the point where his colleagues worry for his mind.

    Brief Background: WIP

Current Position/Job/Mission/Location: En Route to Tralfon IV, to investigate and purge any daemonic or Chaotic Presence. With him is an Inquisitorial fleet, and a Grey Knights Strike Cruiser.

    Name: Sidney Renaud

    Age: 140 (Received Juvenant treatments)

    Race/Species: Human

    Gender: Male

Physical Appearance: Despite being 140 years old, his face resembles that of a man who is only in their late 50’s. His eyes are steel blue color that have a piercing quality along with brown hair that has streaks of gray in an ivy-league hair cut (hair that is parted to the side and neatly brushed back). His body is not bulky but has a fair deal of muscularity and his skin is tanned due to his service as an Inquisitor. On his back is a scar that goes from his left shoulder to his right hip, however, he has refrained from speaking on how he got the scar

Voice: Another notable feature about Sidney is that he will rarely ever raise his voice or yell. His voice carries small inflections that those who know him well can detect to determine if he is happy or angry. If he is angry or speaking with an enemy – his voice has a chilly politeness to it that usually makes the rest of his retinue cringe.

Personality/Dominant Personality Traits: He is a puritan Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus and belongs to the sub-faction called the Amalathians. This leads him to be level-headed, pragmatic, and having a knack for diplomacy.

He values unity and believes that if his retinue or his allies are not unified then their cause is already doomed to begin with. He despises individuals who seek to instigate division or rebellion against established authority. Because of his belief in unity, he will work with his allies on any mission as long as they do not prevent him from doing his job – the moment his duty is obstructed he will bring the full might of his retinue to bear on them and render judgment in the manner he sees fit

Behaviors/Quirks: Around his retinue he has a “tough as nails” external and is usually to the point when it comes with matters. However, when he is alone with Valora he displays “fatherly” behavior and sometimes pats her head when she is studying under him.

When he is angry his eyes tend to narrow and he will place his fingers in front of his face and fold them together. He will then sit up straighter and stare down at the person in front of him. His voice will not be loud but will be chilly and polite

Attire/Uniform: When not in his power armor, his attire consists of a simple cotton brown pants, a white cotton shirt and boots. He wears a black leather belt with a satchel that contains his most precious possessions: a golden sister hospitaller pendent and his Ordo Malleus Rosette. Over this he wears a long brown cloak that covers his entire body

Affiliation/Organization: Ordo Malleus, Philosophy: Puritan, Sub-Faction: Amalathians

Occupation: Lord Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus, commanding officer of the Black Ship “Eternal Judgment”

Relationships: He values each member of his retinue and instead of subscribing to the usual method of killing henchmen he will make each member of his retinue swear to silence or have their memory erased.

The one member of his retinue which he is closest is the sister hospitaller from the Order of Serenity. He views her as his foster daughter and as such generally expects more from her than other members of his retinue, however, she is one of the only people he would willingly give his life for

Weapon(s): A pair of Nemesis Falchion short swords, bolter-plasma combi-pistol, and a standard bolt pistol as a side weapon. His strategy is use the pair of short swords to deal quick strikes to the enemy and when at range using a bolter-plasma combi pistol to deal with some ranged threats

When he is conducting “interrogations” on suspected heretics and those who have colluded with daemons of chaos, he uses an excurciator to help him extract information on a short notice basis or when he has little time to spare on a proper interrogation

Armor/Defenses: He wears a golden set of Mark 7 Aquila armor along with Ungents of Warding, and Consecrated Scrolls. His armor has numerous scrapes and scruffs on it that show the countless numbers of battles he has been in

    Strengths/Skills

•Experience: As a seasoned fighter of daemons and those who consult with warp-spawn he has become sensitive to how “taint” feels. This increased perception allows him to speak with a number of individuals and often enough is able to find any root of corruption hiding in that person. This also allows him to know many of the tricks that daemons and their cohorts may try and gives him many avenues to stop them

•Diplomacy: Unlike most inquisitors of his order Lord Renaud will cooperate with Imperial Guard, other chapters of space marines and even the local authorities on different worlds if it means getting to the bottom of a crisis, however, if he feels any member of the local government or other body that is outside of the Ordo Malleus is hindering his investigation, he will take matters into his own hands to ensure the threat of chaos is extinguished

•Adaptable: His greatest strength and skill is his ability to adapt to nearly any situation. In some situations, he may use a gentle hand to get his mission completed, in other missions he can be heavy handed as needed to complete his mission and depending on the type of daemon or chaos infestation he is dealing with, he will always adapt his strategy to achieve the best result

    Weaknesses/Flaws

•Different Expectations: Generally, he treats most members of his retinue, other inquisitors, Imperial Guard, and space marines with standard expectations but his expectations for the sister hospitaller in her work are higher than most. This can sometimes put a strain on their working relationship as he can overlook simple details because she did not meet his expectations

•Zero-Tolerance for Division: Lord Renaud has zero tolerance for division in any type of group, whether it be civil or government. He has often used his inquisitional status to execute those he feels “divide” the Imperium without second thought to their motivations or reasoning. It is for this reasoning that most of his retinue tend to their thoughts to themselves lest they find themselves victims of his rage

•Lack of Attention to Detail: Lord Renaud has always thought of the “big picture” and does not consider the small details very often. While this manner of thinking is realistic, it can sometimes hinder investigations since he does not see the fine details of a situation. Usually, he will rely on his sister hospitaller to speculate on the finer details of a situation

Brief Background: He was born in Terra and grew up in the under hive city with his parents being killed early in his life. From the time he was around 10 years old he had to fend for himself in the under hive. When he was around 26 he was discovered by a Lord Inquisitor named Cyril Varnek who saw his potential as an inquisitor due to his determination, survival skills, and his loyalty. However, Sidney at first rejected Cyril’s invitation and it took the deaths of his gang members for him to finally accept the Lord Inquisitor’s invitation.

When he was 58 he became an Inquisitor and five years later at the age of 63 he finally became a Lord Inquisitor. One thing that stayed with him during his training was how to have a gentle hand at some matters and a heavy hand in certain situations.

When he became a Lord Inquisitor he began to look for a retinue of individuals to help him deal with kinds of situations. He found Valora on Ophelia IV and found her loyalty and use of silence admirable as well as her skills. She was his first recruit and soon she impressed him enough to make her his acolyte while also acting as his field medic. While he holds the rest of his retinue in high regard, more so than most Inquisitors, he holds Valora in the highest regard.

Current Position/Job/Mission/Location: He is monitoring Valora’s progress onboard of the Eternal Judgment at Tralfon IV and is hoping that an alliance between the Imperial forces, Inquisitional, and Space Marine forces can be maintained. He is also prepared to pull Valora out of the field if necessary if the ultimate sanction against the planet is considered.

I am sorry for taking so long for posting the other character bios. Also, I will start the regular role play thread soon.

No worries Samara. Just keep us posted.

"None of us know our end really, or what hand will guide us there. A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played, or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power. When you stand before God, you cannot say 'but I was told by others to do thus' or that 'virtue was not convenient at the time.' This will not suffice.

    Remember that."

You mind if another player joins? I've yet to create a character though I'm interested.
