Deep into the base of Mount Lycabettus stood what appeared to be from a distance an old abandoned mansion. But, appearances can be and often are deceiving. Upon closer inspection one would come to the conclusion that the mansion was not abandoned at all. In fact, it was buzzing with excitement. For this night, was a very special night.

This night was the night of the blood moon.

    Spoiler: The House of De'Marqiue

The mistress of The House of of De'Marqiue stood at the top of the grand staircase that was the welcoming area. It's main purpose was for guests to be received there, be they for the Elder Queen or some other of the many inhabitants of the Victorian styled mansion. Upon it's purchase, it had been turned into a lavish estate which had been added on to, and decorated by one of the covenant's own. It had also been the same decorator who had done the decorations for tonight's ball celebrating the blood moon. The name of the vampires celebration would of course be hid under the guise of a dinner and ball fund raiser for a local children's charity.

For as far as vampires went, Alisiandra De'Marqiue looked beautiful in the black lace gown that adorned her lithe frame. And although the much younger one hundred seventy year old - but actually looking almost only six years old- vampire beside her also wore black, it was not that of a revealing nature as the Queens was.

The calm and observant Anastacia was dressed in a beautiful black gown with shimmering bands of trim that brought definition to the dress of "youngest" member of the covenant. Young indeed, but only in human years and much wiser than the age of her appearance might lead one to believe. Tacey was also Lisiandra's head personal adviser. Although the girl could not speak, she still never lead the queen astray, her astute senses never failing the girl, or her queen.

Alisiandra smiled down at the girl, taking her hand and smiling softly. Although she spoke out loud, she sometimes felt that if she did not, somehow Tacey would still understand her if no words were said at all. But Alisiandra did speak.

"Tonight my dearest Tacey, we will dance with dignitaries, celebrities, and with some of the richest men and women on earth. And we will raise money for the children of the charity." Her voice was soft, elegant and she held her head with an air of dignity as she spoke but underneath that almost sensual voice there was the slightest trace of something much darker...more dangerous.

She squeezed the child's hand. The fair skinned queen had worn her raven colored locks down, leaving them to fall long and loose across scantily clad shoulders and spilling over breasts, covered by the sheerest of fabric yet seemingly to be bare beneath the daring gown that she wore. But as Alisiandra had proven over her many years as an elder - she can and did wear anything that she damned well pleased. After all, she was a queen.

Sharp green eyes scanned around the room as her blood seemed to simmer under her skin. The feeling thrilled and scared her at the same time. It was the blood moon. And it was the reason that the newest member of the covenant, Sasha would be restrained in her room once the moon had risen to it's full height that night. It's pull would be too much for the new vampire to handle so Alisiandra had allowed the girl to attend the ball, but only until the moon began to climb high into the evening sky.

On the stairs to their left, about half way down stood the interior decorator. She looked to be studying her own interior design, which was all in all, flawless. She'd chosen perfectly the decorations that went beautifully with the dark royal crimson colors the queen had insisted on.

With Tacey's hand still in hers the queen would lean down so that the girl would be the only one to hear her words, despite that none of the guests had yet arrived.

"And until the dancing is done, the moon will be at it's highest and we shall all admire it's deep red color while the blood lust builds within us all." Her eyes remained fixed on Tacey's as the blood in her veins seemed to almost already be surging. It was the blood lust, the insatiable thirst...the need...that was building inside of her this very moment.

"And then my dear...." She didn't finish her sentence, simply remained kneeling by the little one's side waiting for her to give any indication that she understood what her words had implied. As she waited though, her eyes would follows Tacey's gaze here and there as she found most of the older vampires in the room, some at their designated places and others just randomly lingering where they would as they wanted to until guests began arriving.

Syphon looked through his wardrobe at his multitude of suits before pulling out a tailored charcoal suit he'd bought from Gieves and Hawkes for a small sum of Ł5000, he quickly ironed it and got it on before brushing his hair, the long black locks falling down to the middle of his back. Looking in the mirror he flashed himself a quick smile before heading out of his room locking his door behind him before heading through to the ballroom.

When he arrived a few of the covenant were already there and he gave them a friendly smile when they looked over his way, checking his watch he started a mental countdown of how long it would be till their guests arrived his fangs throbbing in anticipation, reaching inside his jacket he pulled out a hip flask and took a long pull from the whiskey inside before putting it away. Taking a second to admire the decorations of the ballroom he saw the queen knelt down whispering to her head adviser and decided to head over see if she had the guest book with her so he could see who was coming tonight, reaching the bottom of the stairs he looked up towards the queen and waited for her to acknowledge his presence.

In a room very near to the other vampires, adjacent to the ballroom that was to be used as the moon approached its peak, Winifred huffed as she struggled to align the last of her paintings. The weight wasn't much of an issue; she could carry ten times the weight of the heavy oak frame. The main frustration was getting it to balance just right so that it would not be lopsided. With the most minuscule movements in her awkwardly crouched position, anyone near her would be able to hear her breathy words of "Please please please please please..."

Sure, she could have others do this work for her, but such was not the true satisfaction of an artist. Picking up the brush every single day, making progress, getting covered in paint splatters, all up through the hard work of setting up a perfect gallery—there was a sense of pride that would be missing had the task not been seen all the way through to the end. Winnie stepped back from the frame larger than her, closing an eye and sticking her thumb up to measure the alignment. "Perfect." It was all a marvelous sight to behold. Each painting, whether mounted on the wall or an easel, filled and lit up the room with spectacular color, flawlessly complementing the temporary interior design specifically chosen for tonight's occasion. The final touch, the grand masterpiece that she had spent well over a month on, lined a span of nearly 3 meters.

The theme of the gallery...A Dance With Death.

At first she thought the title would be a dead giveaway for the events that would occur shortly after the gallery, but the more she pondered, the more she knew that humans, as much as she loved them, were much too dense and self-centered to sense when their hour of untimely demise was upon them.

With a prideful smile, Winnie spun around and left the room, the clicking of tall stilettos echoing everywhere. The still fairly young vampire wore an artful watercolor gown with a white silk shawl, her bare shoulders shimmering with fine glitter. Her hair she wore up in a modern beehive, and the diamonds she wore divinely sparkled in the slightly dimmed light of the halls. Such an outfit was called for on a night like tonight, with dancing and standing in the spotlight of famous artists and celebrities and potential buyers. And though it was not very befitting, she felt the frenzied excitement building within her at the thought of the peak of the blood moon.

Winnie slowly opened the door to the grand staircase hall where the others within the Covenant resided. The door did not open without a long creak, and though it was not disrupting, it did catch the attention of a few in the room, to which she smiled and nodded. Her side of the preparations were complete, and now she was free to mingle and be merry.

*click* *click* a whispered curse, then with only a small pause, a happy excited noise. Pushing her chair back from her desk a pale hand punches into the air as the girl it belonged to spin around in the chair. Behind her on the screen was a beautiful painting of a landscape, full of softly glowing forests, and the glittering spires of a castle in the light of sunset, a dirt path winding towards it. Pulling herself back to the desk, Holly saved the file, quickly emailing it to her boss. She made an odd picture, the fuchsia and black skirt of her formal gown fluffing over her computer chair, and the sequinned bodice glittering in the fake light of the computer screen.

Green eyes widened behind a beautiful mask of fuchsia lace as she saw the time, the full force of the blood moon tingling coming back to her. Even after five years it was an odd sensation for her- her blood feeling like it had a mind of its own under her skin, her fangs almost aching. Standing up quickly she stared at her reflection, fluffing where finishing her last minute work had flattened it, and rearranging her hard won curls, a first attempt with a curling iron. She thought they had come out well, helping make the pink dye more... Elegant? She'd tried to tie it back, half up half down, and was surprised by how good it looked. Taking the pink rose she had picked from its vase, she tucked it into the tie and primped one last time. Twirling her dress around she smiled, then took a big breath making it to the door and opening it without a moment to hesitate. Plus, she wouldn't like to find out what would happen if she were late.

Rushing down the halls in borderline unladylike haste, she was relieved to find that she was just in time, arriving as many of the others of the covenant were. Her eyes were instantly drawn to the striking figure of her Queen, and her advisor, whom she had made the mistake of calling wee only once. Dropping a small curtesy their way, one could never tell if she was looking or not but she seemed to have a knack for knowing, Holly's eyes roamed the rest of the room, taking in all the beautiful people and clothes. Suddenly shy she smoothed her bodice and skirt, sticking to the shadows of the outside of the foyer. Big social events just weren't her thing and she always felt underdressed. One hand hovered at her throat, trying not to fidget with the black hemmed cascade of necklace that graced her décolletage. Something about these gatherings always made her feel like a small child, invited to the adults party but not really belonging. Trying too hard to fit in with the adults, and floundering in an environment much to big for her. She supposed she'd get used to it eventually... Right? The concept of immortal was still big for Holly, the concept of living for hundreds of years too big to really set in.

She swung herself in a circle, judging the dress she had made for herself, for this particular occasion. Her hair was up in a tight pony-tail, as it usually was, and the tail ran down in sweet curls. And with her makeup, she created a more natural look.

Élisabeth was pleased. She smiled into the mirror before heading off to the ballroom. As she walked along, she could feel her excitement rising ever so clearly. She wondered if tonight she could find the man of her dreams... though she very much was in doubt of that, she still wondered. The ballroom would be full of guests, and on this wondrous night, a vampire's insatiable thirst could be quenched within seconds; such an incredibly engrossing thought.

Once she had arrived, she took to a corner of the room, where she could view almost everyone and everything. Élisabeth glanced through the crowd, she knew many names and faces. Particularly she drew her attention to her beautiful Mistress and her lovely advisor; both were clad in gorgeous attire. She queried about who had crafted the two gowns. She certainly would love to meet whomever did. It would be quite the pleasure...

Snapping herself from her thoughts, a woman approached,"Élisabeth, you look stunning!" It was Abigail, a vampire two times older than herself. She was quite the beauty, a little on the chubby side and oh so curvy. She was truly a blessing.

"I thank you, Abi," Élisabeth smiled warmly, her voice was soft and calming, like that of a still pond, undisturbed and sound. She continued her reply with,"but honestly you are always twice as stunning."

A snort from Abigail,"Oh please don't be so humble."

"I'm not being humble," Élisabeth stated stubbornly. She was kind of a mule when it came to compliments.

"Right..." Abigail eyed her slyly,"So, gonna be looking for your dream man?"

This caught Élisabeth off guard and she stumbled with her retort,"W-what? No, no no." She laughed it off without looking at Abigail,"I am not."

Abigail sighed,"I don't understand why you don't just grab someone among our covenant. Just look at all these fine men here," as she said this, she took her arm and swooped it across the room,"so many handsome ones.

Especially that mysterious Syphon. Sure he has a split between his-"

"Abi!" Élisabeth cut her off,"I'm not interested, okay? I just..." She sighed,"I just don't know."

    "Thank you, Master."
    "You're welcome, My Padawan."

The vampire butler went down the stairs, one leg after the other. His sapphire eyes looked over the ballroom. Then, he took off his usual black gloves and put them in his right pocket. Then, his left hand took a pair of white gloves from his other pocket and wears it. This, accompanied with his usual butler attire he went to the middle of the ball and greeted as many noble vampires as he could.

Jacob greeted the other vampires with a smile on his vampiric face. He wished he could be human once more, so he could greet the humans just like he did with the vampires. He the began to have a few conversations with the guests, exchanging words for words. In case of emergency, when a vampire started to betray the covenant, Jacob constantly on the look out for potential traitors. If a vampire is killed in the hall, he will not hesitate to kill that traitor with his wires.

Tonight was a big night, not just for nervous blonde, but for every Vampire in attendance. The Blood Moon. Ever since Anastacia had sat Sasha down and explained everything to her to about it she had been a nervous wreck. Whenever her mind would wander to the unknown aspects of the evening she found herself getting queasy and lightheaded. She knew that she would have Anastacia there to help her through the night and all of the other house members, but the idea of the Blood Moon was still intimidating. She tried to hide her nervousness from the others but it was more than obvious she had more negative than positive thoughts towards the evening.

"I guess it's time to get ready..." Sasha wiggled further under the covers and let out a nervous sigh. She had kept herself for most of the day just relaxing, she wanted to get into the night with an eased mind. She laid under her thick blankets for a few more minutes before forcing herself to get up. Walking into her bathroom she stopped in front of her mirror and looked at herself, "you can do this." She gave herself a reassuring nod before turning to her shower and cranked up the water to the hottest setting. As she waited for the water to heat up she plugged her phone into the mini stereo she had and put on some Michael Bublé, his music always seemed to relax her. Sasha stripped out of her clothes once she saw the steam beginning to form and got into the shower. She quickly washed her hair and body, shaved her legs and washed her face and then sat down and let the hot water run over her.

Sasha stayed in the shower until the water began to run cold, she didn't realize how much time had actually gone by until she got out of the shower and looked at her phone. "Shit!" She had sat in the shower for an hour! She knew she was behind but she didn't want to stress herself out by rushing to get ready. Sasha just hoped that everyone would understand why she was so late. Drying herself off she slipped into her silk bathrobe and began the annoying process of drying her hair. She usually just let her hair air dry, but considering how far behind she was she didn't really have a choice. She could just see her mother cringing at the thought of her blow drying her hair and then taking her curling iron to it. The brief thought of her mother made her smile, but then she frowned. Her mother had no idea what was going on with her right now, and if she did Sasha knew that she would help make everything easier for her.

"Don't do that to yourself," She demanded and locked eyes with herself in the mirror as she finished off the last section of wet hair. Sasha turned to the dress that was hanging on the back of the bedroom door and felt butterflies begin to form in her stomach. Taking a deep and calming breath she walked over to her vanity to get ready. Sasha had already laid out the products she would need earlier in the day that way she wouldn't have to find everything while getting ready. Sasha turned on her curling iron and began to give herself a mix of tight and loose curls and tried to decide on how exactly she wanted to wear her hair for the evening. She was stuck between two ideas, a braided look and an updo. She wanted to make sure the top of her dress would be seen clearly.

Sasha decided she would let her curls rest before putting them up and moved on to her makeup, which she knew exactly how to do it. Simple baby pink lips, winged eyeliner, sculpted cheeks, and dramatic lashes were done pretty quick.

"Now...back to my hair..." Sasha cocked her head to the side as she thought of which one to do and decided that she would just start playing with it and see where it took her. Once she was done she sat back to look at what she had come up with and smiled, it looked nice. She hadn't realized that while she was getting ready she was distracted from all of her feelings until she just had to put on her dress and go downstairs. Taking a deep breath she walked over to her gown and ran her hands along the beading of the top, it was so beautiful.

"It's simple. Just put the dress on and go downstairs!" But she couldn't move. Her nerves had a hold on her and all she could do was stare at the dress. A few minutes passed before she snapped out of her thoughts and forced the dress on and grabbed the pair of heels she had laid out.

Now that she was dressed and ready it was time to go join the others. Sasha let her feet lead the way out of her room and towards the stair case that led to the party. She passed a window on the stair case and felt herself stop in her tracks, her eyes snapped to the moon looming over the night sky and she gasped slightly.

Sasha hadn't felt the affects of the Blood Moon until she was staring at it. She couldn't stop staring at it for some reason, she was once again frozen but by different means. She couldn't explain the way she was feeling even if she wanted to and she wasn't too sure how to feel about it. She just stood there on the stair case, transfixed by the moon.

Jordr looked at the clock on the wall as he rolled out of his bed and saw he had about an hour until he was due to arrive at the ball. Jordr scratched at his bare chest and yawned. Rising out of his bed, his bare form wandering over to the shower as he started to get ready. Working the wash through his hair and his beard, he felt his fangs protrude and graze across his lip. The Blood Moon was in rare form tonight to get him this riled up, but he was able to keep himself in check. For now...

Leaving the shower and drying off, Jordr was drying off his hair as he walked into his closet. A few minutes later he walked out in a full suit, shoes and his newest watch.

His phone went off as he finished dressing. He grabbed it and unlocked it to see he had an email about work. Confirming product shipments, employee concerns, etc. By the time he had finished that, he looked at his watch to see it was time to join the party. The guests would be arriving soon.

He pulled up the top half of his hair in a ponytail, then quickly looked in the mirror to make sure everything was in order. Thankfully, the coat was able to comfortably stash his seax on his left side so he was content with his appearance.

Finishing this outfit with a smile, Jordr walked out of his room, strolling out to the main hall to meet the slowly gathering room of guests, giving a slight nod and bow to Alisandra when he saw her watching over the event. His smile was bright and his command of every social circle he drifted through was almost distracting. He knew he stuck out like a sore thumb, he also didn't care. Being loud and happy was part of his standard operating procedure whether it was business or pleasure, so much so even that he started to believe the face he kept up from time to time.

After standing and observing from her spot at the door for a couple minutes and watching those that were entering the entrance hall in fresh fine clothing, Winnie decided that it was the appropriate time to approach the Queen. Staying along the outside of the room and nodding her head at those that caught her attention in greeting, she stood a few feet away from where Alisiandra stood with Anastacia to let them finish a conversation they were having with another house member. Perhaps she did not always have to be so polite, but she supposed it was just an instinct that remained with her for over the last century since she used to be a servant herself. Her eyes surveyed the crowd until they found Jacob; he was in butler attire still, and her brow furrowed. Did he still plan to serve them all this evening? If he did, she may have to track him down and convince him to let loose, even if for a few minutes.

Once Alisiandra's attentions were turned to Winnie, she dipped her head and curtsied before her. "My Queen," she said with a smile, her hands fanning out her dress in a multitude of color. "The preparations you trusted to me are complete. Our guests will be happy with their entertainment...and we will be happy with ours." The second part was slightly forced, as she still felt the morally sinking pit in her stomach at the thought of finding entertainment in drinking the very life out of somebody. She knew though, that once the moon was at its highest point and their true nature was revealed, bloodlust and entertainment would be a couple of feelings on a very short list of things they would feel.

Pastel colors of blue and pink caught Winnie's eyes and she glanced up briefly to see the newest member gazing in awe out the window near the top of the staircase. She knew the young vampire would not be ready to control herself on a night like this just yet, but still seeing her nervousness and excitement warmed her inside. "At least the first half of tonight will be beautiful and enjoyable for everyone involved. You've done a wonderful job with the colors I must say, Alisiandra."

A picture of elegance, the queen stood at the center of the staircase with her most trusted advisor at her side. An advisor who was beginning to get fidgety. The bubbly Tacey had always been known for her inability to remain still for too long. With the Queens constant air of dignity she would help Tacey to remain calm during these next few hours.

Holding the girls hand, she began to make her descent down the grand stair case. Her gown clung to her curves as she moved while the girls dress rustled softly with each step they took. Alisiandra's bare skin peeked out through the lace of the dress that showed off her lithe form.

As she is about to reach the bottom of the steps the queen spies Syphon. He had came to the coven some time ago but parts of him still remained a mystery, or so it seemed. His presence would not go unnoticed though as the queen nodded towards him. In a voice exuding the Queens stature among the vampires she spoke to him.

"Good evening Syphon. I hope that you will enjoy the nights festivities."

She gave a rather sly smile, knowing full well what the extent of the covens festivities would mean. Although a part of her felt for the humans she also understood that it was better for the coven to be at the estate tonight where things could be controlled to some extent than for them to be turned loose on the streets of Athens.

From the corner of her eye she noticed Winnie emerging from the special themed room that would hold their noble guests. She gave a quick nod towards the girl then finished her brief encounter with Syphon before moving on to mingle with the others that were gathering, Tacey still in tow.

It was odd how the others of the covenant all seemed to somehow be able to understand the youngest member of the coven despite that she did not speak. Whether the girl actually could or not, no one seemed to know but she was a bright spot for all of the coven, and she had definitely captured the heart of their mistress. Tacey randomly tugged on Alisiandra's hand but the Queen held firm, calmly returning the girls tug with a squeeze of her hand and a look that would tell the child to have patience.

As they began to mingle, Lisia noticed a freckled faced vampire that had come to them perhaps fiver years or so ago. She couldn't help but smile as she noted the girls pink curls. Although she had been there several years now, the girl named Holly had remained to be a bit on the shy side. The queen understood her shyness, having once actually been shy herself many, many years ago. She circled nearer, speaking to the young vampire.

"Holly, you look stunning this evening. Please step into the light so that I might see your beautiful gown."

It was a request and not an order, but it was planned just the same as though it had been an order. She simply wanted to get the girl away from the shadows and among those who had begun to fill the room and socialize.

After having a better of view of the girls dress and exchanging a few words again Alisiandra would begin to move around the room, Tacey having now let go of her hand and having begun to quietly move around the room, smiling with her bubbly personality and giving Alisiandra time to speak with others.

Both Élisabeth and Jacob arrived at almost the same time. The room was beginning to fill up quickly, some of their guests beginning to arrive. The queen, known for never wanting to ommit anyone from her attentions took her time socializing. First she would respond to the lovely dark skinned vampire.

"Both are original Cohens. Your gown is equally stunning, Élisabeth."

Abigal then rushed forth to speak with Élisabeth and the Queen would first frown disapprovingly at the sometimes too nosey vampire, but then she broke into a smile. Abigal was well loved and Lisia couldn't get mad at her as she knew the other vampire meant well.

From across the room she nodded at her other advisor, who just happened to be her butler as well. She trusted Jacob, he was loyal, but it was of the opinion that perhaps he had forgotten to relax sometimes.

The queen made a mental note to check on him later and make sure that he was indeed enjoying himself by eve's end.

It would be Jordr's entrance that would garner the most attention from the queen as she saw him bowing to her. His commanding presence was equal to her own and the viking somehow seemed to stir something in the queen that rare others had ever been able to do.

Being a vampire was not always easy, even for an elder of Alisiandra's stature. And no matter how old one became, loosing loved ones was never easy. Perhaps it is why Alisiandra had not taken many mates over the year. Or perhaps, few stirred her in the ways that the viking in the pin stripe suit did.

Her gaze moved to watch him as he entered the room. Several times she would have to look away though as newcomers arrived and she would briefly greet them but always her eyes returned to locate the one who could, under the right circumstances perhaps not only be her match, but more.

She was pulled from her thoughts though as Winnie approached her. Alisiandra had already seen the room earlier and was eager to see the final touches that had been put on it right up apparently, until the ball had begun.

    "My Queen"

Alisiandra turned to see Winnie standing in front of her. The vampire would receive her full attention as she explained the final preparations had been made. The Queens pleasure was evident on her face and her smile broadened.

"Excellent Winnie. You've outdone yourself. I thank you."

Lisiandra managed to maintain her regal air even as the moon began to rise higher in the evening sky. Her eyes followed Winnies to the top of the stairs where the newest member of the coven had become transfixed. With hair that was coiffed perfectly in curls and a divine dress of pastel and lace with elegant trim she looked almost the perfect picture of innocence.

But the Queen knew better. The girl had been turned three months ago, any innocence having been taken from her the moment that Alisiandra had chosen to save her life. For a moment she thought of Tacey, and the night that she had saved her too.

She would not regret either action, both Tacey and the new born vampire having become not only very important to their maker, but also very loyal. Loyalty, a trait that was held in high regard by the covenant's Elder.

"At least the first half of tonight will be beautiful and enjoyable for everyone involved. You've done a wonderful job with the colors I must say, Alisiandra."

"Indeed it will" Lisia replied, reaching for Winnie's hand and squeezing it lightly.

"And you have done a marvelous job too, Winnie. I can't wait to see it."

Her gaze returned to the stair case, then to Tacey as the child came skipping up to them only to come to a halt in front of them.

"But for now, perhaps Sasha might need some.....encouragement and support."

Nodding to Tacey, the girl nodded back and began skipping across the room and bouncing up the steps until she reached Sasha and tugged on her hand while softly smiling at her and nodding towards the group.

Somehow, Tacey knew that Sasha understood that she wanted her to come with her. As well, the newly turned vampire needed to have her attention taken away from the blood moon, at least until it was time.

The elder Queen Alisiandra had plans for the sweet, innocent looking Sasha, as well as for the evening.
