Oh, there's plenty I would never do that I would've made my character do, but I would've used some of her actions symbolically.
I think that I just have a LOT to say with my characters, and it's hard writing towards that goal (prewriting for an arc) and then having to back track, and start back at square one in a new narrative. It is something I am sad about, though. Like I really, really wanted to write a resolution.
However, I think the current resolution wouldn't be very happy and that's why I think it would be hard on me to write. Like, I was writing my character as taking it VERY personally that her friend's life was threatened, and that threat on him was treated as less important than the financial interests of a noble (which, actually, rings very true in real life, too, sadly). Perhaps she seemed drastic in her responses at times, but when Che was abased as a foot stool for Elisif to "stand tall," the issue compounded. I couldn't see her "just getting over it." She doesn't care if someone is royalty, or a peasant. She is no one's fool, and she won't stop until they know it.
That said, the money offered her placated her a bit. So I felt like I had her on a path towards a positive resolution (which was what I was rooting for). But I think she would default back into pure distrust (and worse than before) once she found the source of said money aligned himself with Elisif, who she views as a complete shill. She would only assume he too was a shill, and it would cause her to question everything ever said to her. Perhaps she would have fought for Wraith, but not now. Plus, if Che ever found out Wraith's initial feelings of her bring humiliated in the courtyard ("nodding in approval" at her treatment, believing Elisif "handled that well"), and then turning to her all saying "what happened to you was wrong" ... um, to put in mildly, Che would feel very... perturbed by him.
I think those things would shake her trust of these people to the very core, perhaps irrevocably. Like I said, she was wary of the motive behind the money. But obviously I had her take it for her friend, as she is extremely loyal (if you can win her over). So yeah, she took the risk. On the other end of the loyalty though, if you push her away or mistreat her, she is an extreme antagonist and grudge holder.
So I'm sort of sitting back and wondering if that is a character I feel up to writing, right now. Not sure if that makes sense, but it is how I interpreted it all from my characters' POV.
